Just love this place ~ since it became Waterstones Cafe. Great coffee and such friendly staff. I love it. Always visit when in Bolton ~ like a second home ~ the combination of books and the upstairs cafe a special treat and well worth a visit.

I use this Costa alot, unfortunately today one member if staff was extremely rude. I asked what flavoured teas they had before noticing a list on the wall. The lady serving me began to explain what they had and then I noticed them. The other employee came past me and said "Oh she can read" her colleague asked what she had said and she said "nothing". I heard her and was very disappointed with her rudeness.

Just the place if you don't want lots of people around you or noisy shopping malls. Situated upstairs in waterstones bookshop, so not spoiled by passers-by

When I shop in Bolton on Mondays, or Tuesday's my big treat is to go to Waterstone's Costa. Lot's of windows, with plenty of daylight and books, books, glorious books all around. Never feel hemmed in and there is a nice range of seating, from armchair, large and small tables, and couch. There is even a notice board where customers have posted poetry in praise of this shop's delights. All the girls serving here are polite and friendly, and I love to settle down with a newspaper and a latte and chill out. They do a great Wiltshire Ham, Mustard and Cheese microwave sandwich too, Brilliant. I am moving away soon, and this is a place I will truly miss.

Friendly staff. Always clean and tidy. The best hot chocolate anywhere. The added bonus is it in a wonderful bookshop.

Wife and I stopped for lunch as we were buying books. Staff were very friendly. Food was as expected although I wondered if the coffee bean was a little weak as the latte was very milky, more so than usual. Tea was disappointing. The cheeky crispy cake we had was delicious though! Something happened that has never happened before - a barista carried our purchases to our table. Thank you very much. This is a much quieter costa than you find on the high street and I would recommend this over a normal high street branch, you can actually talk and hear each other.

The manager was so rude. We went for a coffee and just for a moment my wife could not find her costa card so after paying for our drinks we sat down and a few moments later my wife found her card in her purse so went back to the counter with the receipt and her card. instead of putting the points on her card the manager refused saying he could not put the points on her card because she might have picked the receipt up off the floor even though we still had our drinks at the table. went to the costa in the market hall had no problem with the receipt and the points. staff in the market where brilliant.

Situated on the upper floor of waterstones, this is definitely a good place if you want a nice chilled out time whilst enjoying your coffee. Pleasant staff, nice service and a good latte.

Just popped in for a cuppa and a danish. The pastry was ok, the cup of tea was hardly recognisable it was so weak despite leaving the tea bag in the pot for the recommended length of time. I know Costa is primarily a coffee shop but surely it's not that difficult to make a decent cup of tea.

Firstly, the food when it eventually arrived was very nice. Chicken breast (small), chips (small), chicken gravy (pathetically small), 2 miniscule cubes of cornbread - all for nearly £14. Portion control rules here & unless you have a voucher & then still is ridiculously expensive. A sharing mixed grill was £50. Steaks not much change from £30! Jesus, it's a chain. No atmosphere at all in the Horwich, Bolton branch. 1st & very much last visit. Came home & made some toast....twas still hungry.
