Costa Coffee - Rottingdean in Brighton and Hove

Great little Costa shop. Have been here many times. Sadly, the staff have said that it is closing soon. A real shame and will be missed.

Not know that this was here, so a welcome addition to the days visit that was all undertaken by bus, useful amount of shops and things to see and do here. A coffee shop seems to be a good thing to come and see while here.

Just avoid these corporate chain coffee places whenever possible. There's so many wonderful small local cafes to support that are friendly and have their own individual style and not the identical soulless style of the large corporates. Often the coffee is alot better in the smaller local cafés.

Friendly and quick service. A good choice of food and drink. A nice place to relax. Fully recommend. Oct 2023 the place has gone downhill. The staff are miserable,don't communicate and dont want to be there. They don't put much water in the tea pot and the food is not fresh. It's dirty and scruffy. Many people that used to enjoy the place don't go there anymore.

Super quiet venue but lovely sunny front seating area. Staff were super helpful.

No iced drinks, no chilled items in the front fridge, A/C not on either. I ordered a bottle of coke zero, which apparently was being stored at room temperature above a fridge in the back. This being a hot and muggy morning, disappointing from a Costa

My partner and I visit regularity. Staff generally good. Tables often need clearing. Consistently out of toast and tea cakes which should tell whoever is managing the place to place bigger orders?

Small but nice little brand in the middle of Rottingdean

Very pleasant place for a quick cappuccino.

Usual generic coffee shop. Looks like all the other costa's It's usually understaffed, meaning only one person instead of 2 . Place is usually clean and tidy.

Called in for a drink and catch up with friend so met at Costa rottingdean. The lady behind the counter seemed she had no clue what she was doing the place looked messy, tables needed attention we had to clear a table to sit down took a while to be served as the lady was on her phone texting. Name on badge said Sophii very rude and no customer service at all. Will not be going back there. Toilets needed cleaning and smelled abit not very. Good for a food and drink place.

I'd much rather go to an independent shop thanks

Good cozy costa where you can enjoy a bowl of coffee (just ask for the large)

Meet my sister here quite often now, before we visit my mum in the care home. Had a Cappuccino and a bakewell tart. It was nice. It's Cash only at the moment though.

Unfortunately only had one member of staff on, so waited 20 mins or so. No tables had been cleared and stayed that way for the hour we were in there. My cappuccino wasn't usual Costa standard. However my toast was really nice and my wives egg roll and hot chocolate was great 'she said'. Still enjoyed our time in there.

Tables not cleared. Three employees present, only one serving. No food, except a few cakes. Poor customer service, and the place was visibly dirty. Go somewhere else. Given one star as unable to post otherwise.

Lovely to see a Costa when all you want is a coffee usually Rottingdean is associated with high teas we'd just been stables so muddy boots etc felt at ease.

Staff pleasant, coffee as expected but frankly very poorly managed. Consistently running out of food. Plenty of other better run options 1 or 2 doors away.

Friendly staff but that’s about all you can say for this place. Food was bland, says “serves M&S food” on the stickers everywhere, but no M&S food to be seen. Interior is really run down, not fitting with the beautiful village of Rottingdean, as is the front door which looks foreboding. Needs a shake up, a couple of £grand could turn this place around.

Love it always friendly hand helpful

The staff are friendly, responsive an professional, which makes all the difference in a crowded coffee market. The one downside however, is in the frequently limited selection of edible products available, so while the quality is consistent across all Costa branches, you're often limited in a choice between a muffin or a tiffin, which is dissapointing.

What happened to that friendly staff?? Please crack a smile time to time! Me the only customer, walking in and feeling like might have entered a funeral parlour. The staff could learn: Hi, how are you, would you like anything else? Have a nice day etc…… and no, paper serviettes are not called tissue! Fingers crossed! :)

Broken fridges, no air con, staff as slow as you could ever imagine possible, drab surroundings! This has to be one of their worst branches out there

Lovely friendly and welcoming staff at every visit here , and never disappointed with the drinks either...fab baristas! Rottingdean is my favourite Costa :-)

Lovely and unique Costa building...I love sitting in their outdoors seating area specially on a sunny day! Staff are friendly and offered my dog a bowl of water.

Arrived around 2.30m. No sign of the 'M&S' Food per emails. 3 sad looking items for lunch on the chiller so didn't bother. Standard coffee ok

You know what to expect and this delivers on that. Loss of one star as their food stock was empty by 10am.

Very pleasant staff. The hot chocolate was initially not hot enough, but quickly remedied. Glad to know dogs aren't allowed.

Hot coffee, not something you normally get in most cafe's. Nice staff.

Shame to offer a negative review but there are plenty of other local coffee shops to support and just sad that a chain like Costa moves in and takes business from the local alternatives that are often better and more friendly. Always try to support the smaller local businesses whenever possible. Am always a bit suspicious of glowingly positive reviews from some of the corporate chains as some companies pay for positive reviews. I don't know if Costa have but I remain sceptical.

Staff were lovely and the food and coffee were good as usual. The wifi wasn't working when I stopped by, which was slightly inconvenient.

A great little Costa at our holiday destination. Just reopened post covid and very good safeguards in place. Staff friendly and food and drink excellent. Even had Aircon which was a bonus on the hottest day so far this year.

Weak coffee ,cleaning floor and tables around you not good.

Chilly no atmosphere tables uncleared disappointing.. always call to Costa for a nice cappuccino but surprised how lacking in cosiness the Rottingdean branch is .. Staff helpful enough coffee was ok but not a patch on the Brighton branches..

Had their egg and mushroom muffin with a latte. Excellent. First time in the store since changed from a Barclays Bank and a delight to be in at Rottingdean.

Would not let our Dad order a cup of coffee despite sitting outside- So if you are a dog owner then avoid this establishment- Bit rich health and hygiene- Most teenagers carry more germs than us two, we had just been freshly groomed and were spotless also we pride ourselves on being well behaved-We travel extensively never experienced this off hand attitude in our life-We would also like to question why a Barista with an unkempt facial hair is handling food anyway- The social media jungle drums will hear about this. Woof

Вообще, в Англии с кофе не очень хорошо: в пабах делают нечто, очень отдалённо напоминающее кофе. Но вот в Коста Кофе выручили – приготовили отличный кортадо. Бариста прямо сразу заверил, не переживайте, будет вам отличный кофе, я его делаю много лет. Пирожные тоже не подвели. Рекомендую идти!

Nice place to stay for a few moments

This is a nice venue really comfy and clean and nicely laid out. I have only given 4 stars because on a few occasions when we have been the staff are more interested in gossiping than helping others and have had to be prompted to include things like the cream on the hot chocolate or the sprinkles for example. They seemed more interested in talking about getting " trousered" at the weekend than asking us about our order the last time we visited and we had to get things changed on our order that had been done wrong and repeat ourselves a couple of times while the "getting trousered" discussion was going on. My partner found it hilarious myself however with completely the wrong order less so lol

Always a friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. Love their Frapochino and crunchy caramel. Could do with a wider selection of gluten free foods, but staff are always accommodating.

Friendly staff at this branch. It was fairly quiet when I visited. I was pleasantly surprised when the staff said would bring my coffee to my table. What a nice touch of extra service when time allows.

Expensive,it's ok,but not for me.

How disappointing to turn up after having checked opening times and having planned my poo ride breakfast accordingly to find it shut 15 minutes past the advertised time( 7am on saturdays as both website and on the door).

Handy for us working early Sunday morning only place open . not cheap toasties but lovely atmosphere, chilled , clean good food and alternative milk for vegans
