Costa Coffee - Lichfield in Lichfield

Lichfield Costa on eastern avenue , the last few times I have been here, most of the servers are so rude, just no need . You can’t hear them through the speaker either so it makes it even more hard work

Stopped to have a coffee and a toasted sandwich at eastern avenue Costa Lichfield- absolutely disgusting and dirty. Bin in coffee shop over flowing and spilling onto floor this is next to where you obtain sugar and stirrers, tables left unclean. Will not return to a mess disgraceful. Very poor hygiene

Cold coffee,hard toast,one very very rude staff member.will not post anymore on here but I will be taking this further with a formal complaint to costa.we spend over £80 a week at costa in burntwood and service and staff are 100percent everytime,the staff member at bakers Lane was so rude it was unbelievable,but a will make a complaint direct to costa.

Great service but coffee bitter, not usual standard. Stopped having breakfast as you cannot guarantee they will have toast, toasties or marmalade

15 minutes in queue waiting to be served by 1 person serving and same one making drinks but 2 people in take outs poor customer service

Popped in for a quick drink one lunchtime. Staff work very hard but the absence of water available freely to customers and absence of serviettes made for a slower start. Before pouring my tea, a clean cup was requested. My husbands cup could have been cleaner but he’d already poured his tea before noticing this. This is clearly a busy and well used branch of Costa. At the time of our visit, it appeared that take away was the norm, in preference to sitting in. There are many competitors in Lichfield, so it’s less likely that we’ll visit here again. That said, in good weather, we could also ask for takeaway drinks as there are pleasantly situated benches in the precinct.

I am very disappointed. I visited your Costa branch in Lichfield today and ordered a decaf coconut latte. The lady behind placed the exact same order. When my drink was ready she claimed it was hers. I explained that it was my order and that we ordered the same thing. Now the problem is that I am a young black girl who was wearing a tracksuit. Your server and this customer not only talked down to me but seemed to address me as if I was dumb. The server put her hand on the drink, slid it over to the lady behind - a Middle Aged white woman and said this is her drink. She then looked at my receipt and said “oh you did order coconut milk” made my drink and said “sorry for the mix up”. I don’t know what about my appearance made me unbelievable but I am not happy. Racial nuances are something you pick up as a black person and the way I was treated was demeaning. I am a loyal Costa customer, I have the app and visit regularly. Staff need to be retrained in customer service and racial bias.

We called into this busy coffee shop and found the staff pleasant and helpful. It was difficult for them to serve the customers and clear the tables as well as it was a very busy time. It is a nice  roomy cafeteria tucked away near the now defunct Debenhams store and it makes for a pleasant coffee fix whilst in Lichfield city centre.

Usual standard of coffee. Used the outside seating area not long after opening Rubbish bin nearly full so would question when this was last emptied. Decking could do with a sweep to recover cigarette ends and cutlery abandoned Pleasant staff

The staff wouldn’t let us download the app to get the 50p drinks. You have to be 16 or over which isn’t fair.

Absolutely shockingly bad customer service here at Costa Coffee Lichfield. This has been noted in several occasions recently when, in particular on Sunday 31st January, the 2 female baristas on duty were impatient and rude to me and other people waiting. I didn’t get their names but one had short blonde hair shaved at back & she had lots of tattoos inc on her head on shaven bit, the other girl long brown hair. The former was the most rude, speaking abruptly and no manners. Disgraceful attitude. Birmingham City Centre Costa so much better. Perhaps they could go there for some Customerservice lessons? Won’t be visiting again!

I usually never have an issue coming here to order a drink, however today at around 11:30am I ordered myself a coffee. Once the lady at the till informed the barrister of my order, there was a not so subtle eye roll and the two then started whispering to each other. After waiting a couple of minutes for my drink to be made, the lady who gave me my drink put it on the side and walked off, no “here’s your drink, thank you bye”, no eye contact, nothing. I think they both need a lesson in customer service.

Great food , average drink, terrible customer service , maybe a customer service course for the female who served us today . Very rude and abrupt .

Close your eyes in Costa, open them & you really could be anywhere. What sets them apart from each other are the staff & the extra amenities. Staff here were lovely & efficient. It's quite a large Costa, and on a sunny day the outside space to the front is a boon. Handy location in the middle of the shopping centre!

popped in late sunday for quick coffee and toast.Place clean,all tables cleared.Smiling and helpful staff.Well done and thank you.

There is always something for a vegan to eat and drink here. The freshly squeezed fruit juices are expensive but they taste so fresh they are delicious

Me and my friend come here most Sunday's after our lunch,it gets very busy but most times we find somewhere too sit. I usually have a skinny latte although today I couldn't. And my friend has a decaf cappuccino.

Visited here yesterday morning Tuesday 19th Feb 2019. Wasnt too busy and got a seat ok. Service for taking orders was very slow. Was amazed that at that time of the day there were no Teacakes let to order. The coffee was awful, warm , tasteless and no frothy top. When I ordered the two lattés , she filled the jug with milk and started the heat process to find that there was not enough milk for the two cups and had to fill and warm up again, surely they must be trained in how much tto put in in the first place.It was disappointing and when we next have a day out to Lichfield we will give costa a miss

We stopped here for a well earned break. No seating inside but as the day was warm, we were happy to sit outside. Service was slow, but as each coffee is fresly made, this is expected. However, I didn't want a hot drink like the rest of my party but an iced coffee, was a little disappointed that these were not listed. After asking and being told that any of the coffees could be iced, I selected one of the Christmas specials only to be told it wasn't suitable. Opted for an iced mocha just to get something. Coffee was OK, but the service does need speeding up. Also had cake which was good : almond and cherry slice for me and banana and pecan for my husband.

Food preparation was unbalievably filthy for a food premises. Balls of fluff and old receipts in view behind till, coffee machines covered in thick dust (I was tempted to write clean me in the dust). Dirty work surfaces. I could not face eating from there but did order drinks as my partner likes Costa. I spoke to the manager on exiting (first time needing to complain in about 10 years) she agreed they needed a deep clean as I had recommended, the was no sense of urgency or care, she informed me the Enviromental Health Had visited so it was all fine. No mention of ratings or advisories or failings. The visit I can only assume was down to customer complaints.There is complete contempt for customer safety shown by this lack of basic standards.On a positive note staff were friendly and pleasent .Recommendation - AVOID . The worst food hygiene standards I have seen in years.

Visited today december26th ordered two hot chocolates with cream ,drinks looked messy with most of it down the sides ,the serving tray was disgusting when I went back to complain I was told the trays are cleaned ,definitely not ,then I was told what does it matter the drinks are in cups to which I replied if you can’t clean the trays how clean are the cups !i demanded a refund which I had The worst COSTA I’ve ever been in unclean and messy ,when you think of the prices they charge its disgusting need to spend some money on cleaners and training the staff in basic hygiene.I know this isn’t how a Costa normally is but this one is a terrible example,

Not the best visit we've made. The outside seating has become a smoking zone? Toilets have been very heavily used. Staff try hard to keep up with footfall of the day (Friday). We will call elsewhere from now on. Sorry could be better?

Great location for a superstore with a Costa Coffee Shop on premise! Great employees in the store and coffee shop. Very clean store and very organised.

Everytime we visit Lichfield we visit the Costa Coffee in the three spires shopping centre it has outside seating where you can sit and see the world go by the coffee is always good together with first class service

As you would expect from a Costa Coffee. Decent coffee, nice team. Could be quicker to clear the tables. A common choice for coffee in Lichfield.

I rarely use this branch now as tables are rarely cleared or cleaned. The emphasis seems to be on taking the punter's cash and not bothering (or being interested) in comfort, clean tables etc.

I am a regular Costa customer at varying branches around the UK but have never experienced such a disgraceful service as the Lichfield shop. Very busy Saturday afternoon with only two people serving whilst the other two are busy watching the queue of customers increase and basically doing nothing. Only one girl making the drinks and one man taking the orders, accepting payment as well as having to heat up food whilst the other two are watching. I mentioned that I thought the system was ridiculous as I had waited ten minutes for my drink (only one girl making drinks) and that there should be more than one person responsible for making the drinks. I was told by one of the ladies who appeared to be doing nothing that there was only the facility for one person to be making the drinks. After having complained, I noticed that the two members of staff who had previously been 'standing around' started to clear the tables of used coffee cups etc., and on my way out of the shop the other one was actually heating up the food. I wonder if I hadn't said anything whether they would still have been 'standing around' doing nothing!! Not exactly teamwork.

The store itself is quite small and very busy. Once you have ordered your drink you are squashed next to each other waiting for your order to be ready. This happens in all branches but this one really didn’t have any room for personal space at all.

Waited ages. Staff were not helpful. The shop is crowded and very hard to navigate around with a wheelchair. The coffee tasted burnt. When I pointed this out I was told nothing could be done about it. I have had so much better service from other costa's in Lichfield at wall and tescos the one in the town centre could do with a refit after asking parents with pushchairs and wheelchair users

My son absolutely loves frequenting Costa, we live in Tamworth and often travel to Lichfield for shopping.

Visited today with hubby before we went round the Cathedral. Good efficient service. Good amount of seating inside and good sized decking area outside if weather OK. Usual menu, usual prices, toilet facilities etc.

I do not like the system of placing one's order with a barista , followed by waiting 10 mins for the drink to be dispensed. It puts me off visiting Costa Coffee Bars. The company must think it works because they all do it but...

Regularly visit and coffee is always spot on. If the weather is good decking area outside is perfect 👍

Don't know what it is about customer service these days but in Costa Lichfield it's pretty s**t and I hate...

I usually love Costa but have to say my visit in July was not pleasant. Don't get me wrong the coffee and ham and cheese panini I were fine but the tray left a lot to be desired. They were really busy so I didn't want to make a fuss and on the way out I mentioned it at the Customer Service desk in Tesco. The lady told me they had nothing to do with the cafe and I should tell the manager. When I explained I didn't want anyone to get into trouble but thought a mention about the trays would suffice. She agreed she would mention it to the manager and I left as she picked the phone up, I presume to ring him. Fast forward a week later. Same thing, trays were not pleasant so I mentioned it this time to the waitress only to be told 'well they do go through the dish washer'. She then proceeded to tell her colleague as she stared over at me (or maybe she was just chatting!). I took pictures of said trays and hope they have cleaned them, I've not been back. I didn't ask for the manager, maybe I should have

Lovely branch very clean, lots of choice and very pleasant and helpful. Can dig inside of out. Lichfield so shopper friendly excellent shopping precinct, clean and great choice of shops way access parking locally.

Perfect for business use. Staff were friendly and polite, loads of space to work from with a laptop. Only thing I'd say is that they need more comfy seats! :)

Sunday morning visit, tables not cleared and dirty, personnel not very interactive, drinks although requested to be hot were warm at best. Very disappointed.

Had coffee from here yesterday and the milk was so sour it curdled in my coffee! Made me sick for 2 days. The women staff in there are very snobby when I ask for my coffee a certain way to the point where she rolled her eyes at her colleague in front me! My order is always 'Caramel Frestino, skimmed milk, sugar free caramel, large, to go' - Yes it's a long order but I like my coffee a certain way but clearly too much to ask. Shame because I go to other costa's and they don't roll there eyes at me.

I know there's been an update to the whole decor, but sadly, not the service ( I've noticed younger staff). Although, I was served by a very polite woman, ( as on receipt, served by Ize G), and with a smile. But compared to other Costa outlets, they've got some catching up to do.

Although Costa Coffee is a brand favourite some shops can stand out with greater staff quality than others.This is one of those shops.

Love Costa, love Lichfield!But what a let down, my friends and I are non smokers, who love to sit in the fresh air. For some reason, every table as an ashtray on!!!! Why o why can't this seating area be non smoking, or even half non smoking would be helpful. I have emailed Costa about this last year who were looking into it, supposedly!But it's still the same, smokers have every table.

Considering how busy this establishment gets, the staff are always incredibly friendly, quick and don't crumble under the pressure. The drinks are always freshly prepared where you can visibly see and taste just as good on the go.

Not been to Lichfield for a while but visited today Saturday 22nd April 2017 and was surprised to see a new Costa outlet and we went in. Large place with plenty of tables, Got served quickly as it wasn't too busy and eventually they got my order correct after many prompts to the. The coffee wasn't too hot the toast was good but we did query the amount of butter and was told you only get 2 butter for the 2 slices of toast and you had to pay for more, the thing is its not enough to give a good covering. The place was clean and tidy and friendly staff.

this is a nice place to chill out with a coffe or tea. me and my wife had a hot chocolate each. however i was desprate for the loo and there was abit of a que. it would help if you put an extra toilet in store. but on the whole the drinks were perfect as you will see and the shop clean. there even is an outside table and chairs if you fancy a drink in the sun

Came here the other day for a lunch break with my friend. Ordered tea and latte cooler! Was served very quickly and plenty of tables. It was also nice and clean!!

Love costa usually but couldn't even drink this coffee, had an americano black which seemed to have scum floating on top. My partner had a hot chocolate the cream tasted old . The machine looked dirty.

Situated amongst all the shops in Lichfield at the top of the town centre near Debenhams, staff are friendly, café and all facilities are clean and tidy and great cup of coffee.

poor service, toast was burnt (quite topical in the news this week) and consequently not all eaten and the taste of the coffee was poor.whilst we have been visiting twice a week, it is very easy to identify who is 'good at making coffee' and 'who needs a bit more practice'.overall the service and quality was well below that expected.

Shame that this particular costa isn't really that good because being a fan of the chain and owner of the club card I would have hoped that the Lichfield one would be okay but I was disappointed. Service was okay but it's almost like the staff get confused a lot because I was asked "what do you mean" when I asked which milk colour was which as in skimmed or whole as in one jug being milk and the other red. One of the staff that was serving almost had the demeanor of someone who didn't want you to even request a drink at all. Overall it's not the best but not the worst and it's best not to go at weekends because you'll have screaming children running around your legs.

Busy Sunday morning but despite the queue the service was good and queue went down quickly. Good array of seasonal coffees/chocolates etc etc! Outdoor seating on decking area (heated!) too for the brave!

Quick visit while shopping! Ordered 2 hot chocolates, one plain, one with cream and marshmallows, although we were informed there were no marshmallows left! We were offered a chocolate flake instead, which we went with, but not quite the same. Good, polite service.

The girls serving, understandably, all had their hair tied back. However, the lad doing the actual coffees had a thick curtain of hair which, when he leaned over the coffees, reached past his nose. He constantly flicked his hair up away from his face so there was a lot of movement of this hair curtain. He didn't once look up at anyone so the hair was always over the coffees. Then I saw him wipe his nose with his finger and thumb as he walked into the stockroom for my decaf bag and then use the same hand to put the bag into the coffee machine. No way did he have time to wash his hands. The coffee machine and the work surface under it was in a shocking state. All in all not impressed with the hygiene of this place at all.

Very average coffee shop, the staff were ok service was ok, coffee was ok, all in all very average nothing good nothing bad- personally I prefer an independent coffee shop

Costa Coffee has just had a new re-vamp, it looks really modern but contemporary at the same time, it's nice to just chill with friends, family and enjoy and nice cup of coffee, or tea or ice drinks whatever you prefer it's still lovely

We visited here for the first time today although we regularly use other Costa stores. The shop wasn't especially busy but the process of ordering my drink and it actually being made took half an hour, in which time our cakes had been eaten and my husband's drink was no more! I'd been told that my drink would be brought over when it was ready, when this didn't happen and I queried where it was I was told that staff had shouted it out - we were seated close to the counter and nothing had been shouted in the time we'd been sitting there. Another drink would be made for me but even then this wasn't immediately done. Two women waiting in the queue which had built up by this time asked me what was going on and decided they'd go elsewhere when I told them. By this point we were ready to leave so I asked for a refund but I definitely won't be returning to this shambles of a store. That's 30 minutes of my life gone, watching my husband enjoy a coffee and a cake.

Afternoon coffee for three of us - staff quicker than last time! Pleasant too! Tables could have done with being cleaned quicker. Outside seating area too. One the better Costas.

I went for a drink and cake yesterday afternoon the service was slow I waited 10 minutes to be served and it was not busy at all and they had enough staff. Come on guys pull your socks up.

Two of us visited at lunch time but it wasn't busy. The tables were mostly dirty and we struggled to find a clean one. Service was very indifferent and not very friendly. Will try the independent coffee shops in future.

Frequent visitors to this establishment and is a regular life saver when at work. Coffee is always spot on and delicious and definitely hotter than the Costa machines that seem to be popping up everywhere nowadays.

Now that there has been a refit internally, the decor is far better and the floor area more spaciousAs ever, the service is friendly and efficient. We've noticed that Costa in Lichfield has had a refurb, it looks really nice now, although the till system is a bit disorganised and confusing. And fundamentally the problem is that the staff are distinctly average. The coffee is okay and we really only have this as a second class alternative to Caffe Nero.

We stop at Costa very often! Quality coffee and cakes! It gets busy but I can understand why. Service is ok. I am dissapoited that they don`t do the chocolate twists any more but now I am trying all the other ones so not many complains :)

Standard sort of Costa but small. Gets very busy making it difficult to find a seat and quite noisy. Has a loyal group of customer but for me service is too slow and dislike being too crowded.

Have been going to this Costa for years, have spent lots of money here and been loyal customers but have noticed that recently the staff have become sullen looking and don't greet you with a smile - they are, as other customers have described, like robots and spend lots of time chatting to each other when sometimes people are waiting to be served. To be honest its starting to put us off. Went to Cafe Nero for a change and couldn't believe the difference - a lovely smiley welcome and you felt they really cared about first impressions and made a big effort to make you feel welcome. Wondering if Costa are getting complacent about their service andif they carry on I'm guessing people will feel the same as us and try somewhere different.

After a wander around the city centre we popped in here for a coffee. We like the place they have outside the shop where a few brave souls were outside. We went inside and had a coffee and we liked the interior which is larger than it looks from the outside. The toilets were clean and ok which is not always so for these chains.

As usual nice coffee and fantastic cakes. A really good choice as always with Costa. It's nice to sit outside in the summer and watch the world go by, whilst drinking your coffee.

I've been coming here with my wife for about 3 years - Almost every Sunday - Always liked the coffee and the atmosphere. It's a typical Costa coffee;1. Lengthy Queues - Check2. Expensive Drinks - Check3. Robotic Emotionless Drone Staff - Check4. Consistent Good Quality Drinks - CheckThe Lichfield City branch has been recently refurbished, and have to say it looks superb - a big improvement on the 10+ year old interior and furniture - It's much more modern and cleaner. It looks a work in progress, as of 14th Feb (couple of weeks after the refit) there's still wires hanging down and scarily some of the smoke detectors are covered up with bags - hmm.However, parents with children in pushchairs take note - Don't bother. The new layout is designed for couples or families with children who can sit on chairs. The new layout has removed a lot of the seating and whilst there is a lot more room, it's somehow been designed so there's no space for pushchairs. We've been every Sunday since the refit and only managed to get in once - plenty of tables available - but nowhere you could put a pushchair without it completely blocking either someone in or most likely a walkway, which is as you can expect for a busy coffee shop, always in use.This isn't particularly an issue with Costa as such, but an overall issue with all of Lichfield. They don't seem to cater for young children in most restaurants and coffee shops. Indeed some are too small for a pushchair, but most places don't have baby changing or child friendly. The only place we've found in Lichfield to be child friendly is Debenhams - Their baby changing is superb - They also have other amenities such as a baby milk warmer and customer microwave.If you have a pushchair and need your Costa fix - Just walk to Tesco's and pop in to the Costa there. Standard Costa so all the usual drinks - the staff aren't quite as robotic as the one in the City, and actually smile, but more importantly they have a full baby changing room and loads of space for pushchairs.

Just been refurbished, good improvement to seating and layout. a second expresso machine provide. Hence service a little quicker. Staff friendly and professional. Could do with some place to put used trays, quicker table clearing. I for one would like to see separate toilet facilities. This is not restricted comment to the lichfield branch but to all of the Costa s I have been in. But still a pleasant place to sit down and have a good coffee, and snack.

Called in on a Sunday morning for drinks. Seemed to take an age though and not many in! Would hate to call in when busy! However, drinks nicely prepared and hot. Tables also cleaned frequently which some establishments aren't so all good there.

sandwich was supposed to be warmed on the grill but the staff preferred to talk together, consequently, the sandwich was just warm and not hot!. Why, because the buzzer went off on the machine but the staff continued just to talk to each other. It just shows you the difference when you get staff who are not really interested,I have to say that when Fred is working the service is great and the food hot!! but he was not working unfortunately.Dirty tables - why do you have to clean your own table? remove dirty cups and plates? come on, get your act together.I have been spending over £20 each week but I am now spending my money at an alternative coffee shop where they value the customer.

Nice little Costa shop with an outdoor seating place for better weather days, the coffee is always good but if it's busy staff can be a little rushed but then that is the downside of a popular place.

I have used this costa coffee every week since it opened.however recently I have found the service rushed and the staff service very robotic.also hard to find a clean table to sit at.always someone elses dirty coffee cups left on tables so you have to tidy the previous persons crockery away before you can sit at a table.This is NOT what i paid for.will not be returning again as this now the 3rd time this has happened

Easily my favourite place to drink a nice tall latte. Or a quality expresso... Really like this place.

The same Costa Coffee as you would expect from the chain in the centre of Lichfield. A regular haunt of ours.It does get very busy at times The seating outside is a good place in the summer to watch the world go by. However, it is sometimes marred by the amount of smokers there. The staff are always friendly and we just love the coffee.

We are regular customers at costa in lichfield it's our mid way point on a nice walk and every weekend visit for a take away drink. Drinks always great standard always a queue but that shows how popular it is would recommend to visitors.

It's a Costa, what more can be said. All the usual Costa stuff, great coffee, cakes, sandwiches etc.

We regularly go here on the weekend however it is very busy and normally wait about 10 mins to be served. Staff are all warm and friendly and always have a smile on their faces. Seating inside is a little cramped and outside on the decking is normally full aswell. We will continue to go here as there is a lovely atmosphere, nice staff and excellent coffee

Like all Costa's (it seems) this Costa at the top of the town (City) by Debenhams is always busy, the staff do their best but sometimes ten to fifteen minute wait to be served

We were on our first ever visit to Lichfield today, and called in to Costa for a coffee. Although it was a lovely sunny day, the outside seating area (on a raised platform) was full of folks puffing away on cigarettes, so we reluctantly sat inside, being non-smokers.Inside, the layout is not great and there are far too many tables, resulting in many of them being literally crammed together. It was quiet on our visit, so it wasn't a problem, but at peak times I doubt that sitting inside the store would be that enjoyable.The service was excellent - very prompt and extremely polite. We ordered a caffe mocha and a hazelnut latte, and as ever at Costa, it was excellent.Recommended for a coffee, as with pretty much any other branch of the chain, but I would recommend getting a take-out from this branch......

Drink here often as it is our local store.Service always good as is food and drink.can sometimes struggle to get seated but guess that just shows how good it is!

3 people serving & a big queue. 15 mins later we were enjoying a lovely coffee which is expected at Costa. Everywhere was spotlessly clean the staff extremely helpful, cheerful & friendly even though they were rushed off their feet. Toilets clean & well looked after. Can totally recommend.

This usual is very good but on the last visit, distinct lack of cleaning on the carpets from the previous night and lack of sandwiches availableThis is not the first occasion where they state a delivery has not arrived?Coffee is good however!

I have reviewed this venue before last year and have to do so again after re visiting.....it was so bad this time I am no longer going into any Costa venue.This trip the wait was over 15 minutes to be served, they had no tea cakes and hardly anything of anything else. They had no cups and I had the drink served ina random mug of some description and as there were no saucers I had a dirty tray given to me to put the mug on, which was swimming in the dregs of previous drinks various!The tables were disgustingTotal sham and should be closed down, consistently bad but no use complaining as when you email Costa as I have several times you get no reply....steer clear!
