Costa coffee, Exmouth in East Devon

The young lady serving us didn't tell me and my friend which drink was which. And the toilets aren't up to the health and safety standards. The tap was falling apart and no water was coming out of the tap and no toilet roll! Disgusting! You'd think especially after COVID times everywhere would be much cleaner. Makes you think how clean the place is and the hygiene of the staff making and preparing food and drink.

What a great place. The staff work as a team together and are totally on the ball. They greet the customers at the till and then the person making the drinks also makes small conversation with you. One person on the floor cleaning tables and bringing out clean crockery etc. You are an amazing team Exmouth … well done

Even under extreme circumstances they are as professional as ever. They have some issues with faulty equipment and Internet failings but they are working above and beyond. Love the staff.. Great people

Thr staff working there now are the best there's been. As a partially sighted regular they are so helpful, so kind and completely put me at ease....im never worried when i visit no matter who's working. They're all great. Coffee always perfect. My favourite cake could be bigger.. But that's just me and probably a good thing its not. 😂 Thank you all so much 😁

My children both have allergies, the youngest has multiple. We just wanted hot milk that was safe for them to have. Charlotte kindly offered to wipe everything down and provide the safest possible option she could. We also managed to find a range of biscuits; triple chocolate, stem ginger and the raisin oat that were safe for them to have. We were so happy having just been to another coffee shop chain who were not able to help. We also had no joy enroute in a cafe on or journey down so it was a relief to meet someone w It made our first day in Exmouth a happy one as tricky with their allergies and although I always take hot chocolate/ovaltine and marshmallow and snacks with me I just needed hot milk and a friendly smile from Charlotte who explained she understood the severity, the difficulty and got this. Early afternoon Wednesday 29th December and we called in here for a coffee. It was rather busy when we were here, so there was a bit of wait to be served. The staff were working away, the wait was due to sheer numbers. Despite being busy and rather full, tables were being cleared up and cleaned very promptly. When it was our turn we ordered two flat whites. There were two members of staff behind the counter, one was serving the other preparing the coffees, both were efficient and friendly. Once served we found a clean table to sit at and enjoy our coffees, which we did.

This is a totally average Costa, conveniently located in the centre of Exmouth. Service at the counter was fairly slow.

Great coffee and cakes. Lovely staff who are very helpful. Good precautions in place due to covid. It's nice to be able to sit outside too

Visited today, was aked if i had the NHS app for covid, said I didn't so he went to get his laptop to take my details, said I didn't want ot give my email address, but did give my mobile number which is all that is needed. Then heard the staff discussing me, ended up with half a glass of latte, when asked for it to be filled up to a full glass, which is what i paid for, the milk was slopped into it going all over the side, so as i walked back to the table it left a milky trail all over the floor no apology!!!!!. Toilets filthy and stank to high heaven, disgusting, rude staff, DON'T bother plenty of other coffe shops in Exmouth, I would reccommend you use them instead.

I'm afraid that this branch tried ripping me off today. Advice to other customers check how much you are being charged. Whilst waiting for my coffees I noticed that they charge more for purchasing items for take away compared to eating in. When I questioned this the reply was to do with the council! Is this correct as I have never heard of being charged more for a take away compared to eating in? This is one place I will never revisit.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. As always at Costa, Cappucino was lovely, as was the cake. There was enough room to sit down and it was not too busy when we visted. We would return as it was walking distance from our hotel we were staying at in Exmouth.

Upon arrival the shops smelt like something had been burnt. Queued up and was served within a short time. However, both of us ordered soya milk with our hot chocolate. We were both given normal milk which we both have an intolerance to, and the inevitable cramps etc ensued. Just as well it wasn't an allergy. We requested a black forest hot chocolate, but were duped on the cherry sauce. When we asked about it we were told, 'we've run out'. It's not the first time this has happened in other Costas also. Considering the price of the drink I would expect to get the full ingredients or an offer for alternative but most 'baristas' don't seem to much care of anything is missing. Nothing of course, is taken from the price.... Ambience and cleanliness was good. Toilets not obviously marked and since I had to use one in a hurry after being given full fat milk instead of soya, it would've been nice to orient myself to them more quickly!

Sunday 11th August, mid afternoon and we visited here for a coffee. We ordered a medium one shot latte £2.75 and 2 flat whites, £2.70 each. We served by 2 friendly and polite young staff, Adam and Bryony. Good coffee, friendly staff, clean and well maintained coffee shop, can't complain. There was free WIFI.

Had our second visit to Costa Exmouth today. We originally tried it just before Christmas and we had to queue for twenty minutes to be served. The man serving kept having trouble with the til and the young lady making the drinks had to keep stopping to help him. We decided to give them another chance as we always enjoy the Costa in Debenham's Exeter. Today was just as busy but different staff on the counter, Georgia served us today. We were served much quicker but all three staff were very friendly and efficient.

Located in the town centre. We came in here for a nice coffee and a sit down. Good americano coffee. Service was good.

Visit this branch regularly.Today the gentleman very welcome and nice as usual not sure of his name possibly from Italy/Spain. Ordered a dry latte means I want lot of froth. The young girl making coffere pleasant however when I said it needs more froth to be dryer she said it would go down. It didn't so I ended up normal Latte. Taste lovely just not what I ordered experience ruined . Problem is I am Barista trained so I know what it should be like. Didn't feel I could go back up as so busy. Point being she should listen to what customer saying. It was not what I wanted and according to company if you not happy they will make it right well as said so busy felt could not go back up and queue. She obvirus likes to think she right and customer wrong. I will not be going in if she making the drinks again.

Midday on a Saturday is a test for the ever popular Costa. Service was slow but up to the mark quality wise. The clientel though were so noisy! Almost impossible to hear yourself speak at one stage. Lots of children.

Enjoyed having a latte and reading my paper. Nice cafe. Clean. Friendly staff. Will go back in may on my next visit.

We found a seat in the window, the table needed cleaning, as soon. As I sat down a member of staff came to clear the mess, making conversation as she completed her taskThe mochas were brought to the table, with a smileThe cafe was very clean, warm and welcoming, we will return

Best coffee in town with great service from friendly staff. This costa has been much improved by the manageress in the last year, the store is clean and tidy.

This is a very welcome Costa Coffee that is conveniently situated in the Exmouth town centre to provide the Costa Coffee enthusiast with a good local fix!

Always great coffee and cakes served here and a cosy inside restaurant that is clean and well managed. Staff are very friendly. Great place to come for a break.

Had to witness a young lad member of staff,being completely belittled by the horribly sarcastic mangeress today , just because a glass fell off the tray he was using to collect dirty cups and broke . This disgusting ,pitiful excuse of a woman took great pleasure in reducing this young lad to near tears as she delivered a tidal of sarcastic abuse at him for nothing more than a complete accident .Wont be coming back while they employ POS like this woman ever again .

The same as most costa coffee houses. Coffee hot enjoyable is what it says it is. Any coffee house woukd do, nothing soe ial.

Los barman son todos simpáticos; elegidas por su generosidad de espíritu y experiencia en café - imprescindible experiencia!

Elegimos nuestra comida, pollo fajita envoltura caliente de 3 libras. 85 y jamón y panini de pollo 2 libras. 95. Pedimos 2 tamaño capuchinos £2. 65 Cada y dio a nuestra comida, un miembro del personal para calentar. La factura total fue de £12. 10

Primero de todo me gusta mucho el servicio de café Costa, siempre parece más amable que otras cadenas de café que he visitado. Esta rama en Exmouth es estupenda, ya que tiene una puerta asistida, así que puedes entrar y salir con una sillita y un café caliente en la mano! El personal era agradable y tenía un ambiente acogedor - volveré aquí!

Yesterday we called here for coffees and paninis just after midday. The shop was not particularly busy. Panini was absolutely fine but my coffee was no more than lukewarm. Very disappointing as never experienced this in a Costa previously.

It's is what it is...a Costa coffee shop. Nice hot drinks, pleasant staff and delicious chocolate brownies.

I went here for a quick drinks break in a shopping trip. The drinks are expensive however are delicious. The only problem was I wasn't a particularly warm day and it was colder inside than it was out! TURN THE AIRCON DOWN!!

Staff are very friendly and the coffee is always fab! Queues are usually long but they usually are at any Costa I have visited, because the coffee is worth the wait!

shame this cafe is a little out of town , but well worth a walk , but service was a little slow, but still nice coffee.

I normally try to avoid these places like the plague, but was talked into going into this one in Exmouth - never again. Service was slow, the staff preferring to talk amongst themselves, with little interaction with the customer. All the tables had crockery/cutlery on, even though customers had been gone some time - staff walked past without bothering to clear. One young customer was trying to find somewhere to put a tray covered in items from a long-gone customer, and had to interrupt a staff chat. The hot chocolate I ordered was luke-warm at best. Cool and wet outside, air-conditioning blasting inside. Never again!

Always head to a Costa whenever possible.On this occasion queue was quite long and service slow .Coffee the best

I normally head to a Costa if I can, so, I didn't bother looking for other local options. Both the food and the coffee were good. The service was ok, but I didn't feel like a valued customer. There's no atmosphere as such, so, I'll be seeking another venue for my next cuppa.

This is a place I have visited often since it opened. Wonderful service until last few weeks - what's happened?There are now young ladies taking orders and making drinks. The order takers are slow, often prefering to do other stuff or talk rather than take an order. When it is taken it is often wrong - eg asked for small latte and a small Chai latte. Received a skinny latte and a large Chai! Have to bear in mind the barrister makes one drink at a time and was having a conversation about customers hair dye!! so probably not concentrating on my order. Table, as often as not, cleared by customer as staff do not collect regularly. Today is Thursday 25th February, time is 12.55 and half tables are empty. However, Nero (3 doors away) is packed and people sitting outside. Come on Costa, although your coffee is good you will loose another customer if you don't improve.

No issues here. Coffee always nice but is never a cheap option but the loyalty card is useful. Coffee making station could have been a bit better organised and cleaner but nothing to worry about. Decaf coffee not overly hot but drinkable. Chocolate and Skinny Latte were excellent.

we'd been saving our points for a holiday spend/treat! clean, friendly and welcoming - we must have picked a not so busy time of the day. staff happy to give us directions to a large supermarket. As for the coolers and hot chocolate near to perfection only one lil moan as my daughter usually has strawberry sauce on her cream - to which she hadn't received - (maybe just spoilt at our local - but staff soon rectified)

Costa is a favourite of ours..I like cinnamon latte and hubby likes a vanilla latte.. usually quite busy but always manage to find a seat.. good selection of sandwiches and cakes..

Obviously no one from Costa reads the reviews. Just read the ones already done by others. I reviewed the place 18 months ago. My review then was with regard to dirty tables, dirty crocks and the staff were totally indifferent to the customers needs.Visited yesterday thinking things must be better......no! dirty tables and the tea pots were heavily stained with tea arround the spouts and lids and so were the cups. The guy who cleaned the tables wiped two over and then returned behind the counter preparing food and drinks without washing his hands. Come on, we are the people who pay your wages and contribute to the profits of the organisation. We deserve better, you are not cheap and other of your outlets that we have used seem to get it right. Newton Abbot today...good. Several times at Froom ....good. Torquay...good, Bristol ...good and many more.

Visited yesterday. Couldn't find anywhere to sit. Even the plastic chairs were dirty. Tables filthy and full of dirty dishes. Floor absolutely disgusting. Staff picking debris off the floor and then serving without washing hands. Filthy brush propped against coffee machine. Don't bother wasting your money here!!!!

We are regular visitors to Exmouth and frequent Costa Coffee users.What a shame the Exmouth outlet hasn't got its act together. On visiting on Monday 30th June, we were appalled to see a least 7 tables uncleared, surrounded by rubbish and napkins on the floor, generally a lack of caring everywhere. No excuse at all, as there were a staff of 5 on duty, and not particularly busy. Really need to sort it out, especially with Cafe Nero just down the road!!!

Costa coffee in Exmouth has seating inside and (weather permitting) outside. Inside it can be rather noisy due to the machinery that heats/streams the milk and brews the coffee, particularly if busy.Large choice of coffees, teas, cold and hot drinks, cake, sandwiches and snacks. Hot snacks available such as toasted sandwich/panini.Bit on the pricey side, but nice to sit outside in the sun and watch the world go by.

We have regular breakfasts here & coffee several times a month, great friendly staff & fantastic coffee!!

Multi National rubbish. It is the worst type of badly done middle of the road, plastic fantastic.Do not bother.

My wife and I are regular visitors to Exmouth and sometimes visit Costa for coffee. We have only experienced good service when the Manageress Nora is on duty as she has the store ticking efficiently. Today we walked into the store to order our drinks, one member of staff just seems to enjoy "ignoring" customers waiting for someone else to serve,the one who "served"us carried on the conversation she was having. The tables had not been wiped,very dissappointing. Our coffee was put into cups to drink in even though we had ordered to takeaway, it was transferred to takeaway cups, I had to ask for more milk as there was a significant shortfall, by the time we had travelled for 5 minutes to seafront the coffee was cold!!! This is not the first time we have had this this experience but have returned hoping it was a one off. We wont return as there are plenty of competition in the immediate area.

Its always such a shame to dislike the local Costa.The staff are great, usually smiling and helpful (depends on how busy they are!) and generally friendly.The place itself is clean and obviously well kept in line with the requirements of the franchise.My daughter (9 years) loves costa for its hot chocolate and cake selection. Sadly, I am not a huge fan as I find that every time I visit (and I have tried it several times...just in case it was bad timing!) my coffee is always bitter.It is my understanding that the Barrista's in Costa are trained in how to brew coffee correctly but this doesnt translate to what I receive in my cup. It tastes overbrewed, either that or the water they make it with is too hot. Whatever the reason, the only time I can 'enjoy' (and I use the term loosely) is when I ask for an additional flavour syrup and have it as a latte.Shame.

It was a very hot day and we decided to try one of their frozen cooler specials. The service was prompt. The staff were friendly. The shop was a fair size. We all tried the raspberry cooler to cool us down which was also a celebratory drink because we have found our dream house in Exmouth! It was very refreshing. Would definitely visit Costa again in the future!

Sadly the girl who served had a mouthful of chewing gum and was happy to let everyone see it. Coffee always good.
