Costa Coffee in Kingston upon Thames

Friday 18th November we visited the branch of Costa in the basement of the Bentalls Centre in Kingston. As we were placing our order we were informed that our drinks would be served in take away cups, even though we were sitting in. When we ask why ceramic cups were not being used, when there plenty on view, we were informed that they did not have the staff to wash them up. The use of take out cups seems to be a growing trend we have found in various branches of Costa that we have visited recently. We ordered two flat whites, £3.30 each, which were served by a rather miserable member of staff. We had to clear a table before we could sit at it, the staff did not appear too inclined to clear the tables. Although the coffee was good, we prefer the flavour from a ceramic cup.

On our visit to Kingston spent some time at the Bentalls shopping centre. and decided to have coffee at this restaurant. The establish was busy quiet but saw customers waiting behind me, deciding to leave before they were served. We ordered the large capacious which were very large, but good.

The staff are always friendly but the place itself is feeling a title tired and needs a little TLC. It’s just got that shabby feel. Drinks, cakes etc are all good, bit again, they haven’t changed the menu choice in years and despite adding festive drinks etc it all feels very much the same....

Two staff members were unbelievably rude. As our 11yr old forgot to ask them not to add cream to her hot chocolate we apologetically asked them to just remove it. This was a BIG issue for them as they were really busy. Despite my apologies they were irritated and rude and told us atleast three times that we should have asked when ordering. Clearly they dont have kids and they never made a mistake in their lives. Never going there again. They need lessons on customer service. Never had this experience at Costa before. Disappointing!!!!

This review is about the Costa which is situated in the basement of the Bentalls Centre. We visited here Saturday afternoon 12th October, we were only here for a coffee. The service was so slow, we nearly gave up waiting to be served. Eventually we ordered 2 flat whites £2.80 each. The coffees when served could not have been classified as hot, tepid would be more accurate. We sat near the counter and serving area, it was rather cluttered with too many tables and chairs for the space available There was more seating towards the rear which did not seem as cluttered.

Always visit this costa (located near new look) when visiting the Bentall Centre. Staff are friendly. My only criticism is that the tables could be cleared and cleaned more regularly.

If I could have given this a rating of Zero I would have. After going to the lower ground floor Costa Coffee branch in the Bentall centre for many years today was the last visit. Two people working there with zero organisational skills and it felt chaotic. When it was reported to the two men working there that there was a mouse in the eating area, they were too busy too come to see and remove the mouse. It took several attempts for them to finally come and even then, they had no social skills to apologise to customers and many had young children. Two toilets there, one had a sign up saying it had flooded and was out of order. The second had no toilet paper, at 9.30 am. It was truly awful and many customers were commenting it had gone downhill. I agree.

Just to be clear, this review is about the Costa Coffee located in the basement level of the Bentalls Centre concourse. It will say "Costa Coffee Kingston Bentall L15" on the receipt. I have been visiting a branch of this coffee chain more than once weekly recently and order the same pretty much every time I go - medium latte and millionaire shortbread. It is a simple order, and the only change is if I am feeling "good" then I'll just have the coffee so saving calories from the cake. Today, it was just impossible to get past the order with any ease or comfort as I was bombarded with an ever increasing number of insane questions just making the whole experience so stressful. All I wanted was a latte and chocolate shortbread, it should have been simple. Instead the incessant questioning was tantamount to bullying and enough to make a grown man cry. Last week, I was at the top floor branch of Costa within the Bentalls Centre, and they managed far easier to just provide what I wanted with minimum of fuss. Please provide some training across your local branches to raise the standard.

I really hope that the lower ground floor of Costa Coffee in the Bentalls Centre, Kingston, gets a complete makeover in the new year. It’s tired, shabby, the toilets are vile and it really is in dire need of a refurb. The food and drinks are always good but the place itself is so awful.

Good Costa clean good service. Nothing different then any other Costa chain. Outdoor seating was nice.

I’ve never come across staff who look less like they want to be working at a branch of Costa Coffee than here. Totally disinterested and on go slow mode. The toilets are so smelly and many of the seats in the main area are dirty and stained. This branch needs a really good overhaul of its staff, toilets and sitting area as it’s truly awful.

A very friendly coffee shop in the second floor of Bentalls shopping center. They serve all kinds of drinks as all Costa Coffee shops do. Their hot chocolate, latte, or cappocino very tasty. You can sit inside or outside the shop. The workers are very ftiendly and helpfull.

This Costa is a relatively modern one so a pleasant environment and the coffee is pretty good too although Costa is never the very best for quality.

Per noi mangiare all'ora di pranzo in questo locale al secondo piano del Bentalls Centre, quando siamo a Kingston, è una abitudine abbastanza frequente. Ovunque siamo in giro, è comodo entrare nel Centro Commerciale e fare una pausa . Di solito prendiamo un Sandwich , di quelli già divisi, e ci basta per due, o una schiacciatina calda, sempre divisa in due. Poi due aranciate, di quelle con i pezzettini di frutto dentro, e la macedonia. In genere è tutto fresco e abbastanza buono. Invece abbiamo trovato cattivissimo il cappuccino, che per noi Italiani è sacro, per cui ci siamo stati una sola volta a colazione. Questo Costa non ètrai peggiori, ma neanche i migliori locali, nell'ambito delle catene di caffetterie

The coffee is always good at Costa and the toasties are great for a snack when passing through Kingston. They have great cakes are well. Our only criticism is that sometimes the tables are not cleared as swiftly as they could be and customers have to move the dirty crockery from the tables themselves.

I go to Costa for the coffee. And for a beginner in that coffee-loving arena, I always prefer it as classic as my Italian friends would have it: single shot, no sugar and no milk. And that's what I get from Costa. I go in the odd hours so as to avoid the rush and queuing. Great service!

We went in to find 2 lads on duty, unfortunately one of the staff looked very new, and had a problem understanding English, and had to be helped out by the other, did not make for a good experience.

I have visited this Costa for a long time and have never been disappointed before. I always enjoyed the coffee and cakes. But today was a disappointment.

Staff self-absorbed, and demonstrating no rapport with customers. BLT was greasy and uninteresting. Skinny muffin was advertised with a price, but when I asked for one, I was told they were not stocked at this branch. Disappointing.

I have already added my review - it's the one you put against the Orpington Costa - There is no facility to cut and paste so please can you put the correct text against the right place. This is the second time I have tried to add this listing. How it got to end up against Orpington is a mystery.
