The coffee is really disaster don’t know how to make coffee very disappointed

Baristas seemed more interested in their private gossiping than the customers. When ordering, I ordered a white chocolate whipped coffee and a caramel frap. Drinks order had to be repeated. Then got asked if any sauce was wanted, we requested ketchup. She then had to ask again. Ordered a bacon bap and a sausage bap which were great, nice temperature. Got the drinks, but one was not what we ordered. Instead of a white choc, we got a caramel whipped iced latte. All the sauce/flavouring was sat at the bottom and there’s no point in the foam the top because you cannot drink that through a straw. Frappe was alright but cream melted straight away. Very bad.

I went to Costa today after school with three of my friends and there was only one couple in the coffee shop 2 of my friends ordered a drink and me and my other friend didn’t get one. once we sat down we were asked to leave as we weren’t buying anything even though we were with paying costumers. The point of this is they wouldn’t treat older members of the community like this it’s just because we are teenagers.(we also go regularly to Costa on weekends with older family members and don’t get treated like this.)

£10 for two flat whites with Oat Milk Shocking. Not from this venue but from Cullompton. Staff shocked at price too Costa has always been my ‘go-to’ brand. Not now. Never again Artisanal coffee shops a lot cheaper, cleaner and usually have locals roast coffee Thanks Costa

Popped in one chilly Sunday afternoon for a warm drink and a cake and were not disappointed. Friendly staff, lovely drinks (I think I'm addicted to the Costa hot chocolate!) and a very clean and tidy environment. Will definitely stop by for a chocolate fix next time we're in the area.

Coffee beans are important but not every cup coffee is equaly made. I have my favourite people who make great tasting coffee! One of those places is Costa in Wells....Young lad who always remember what I am having and by the observing he knows all the regular customers and their favourite drinks. I will have to mention that I am popping in for coffee on Thursdays mornings so its relatively quiet ... What a exceptional customer service 👏. He's polite and smily. Not to forget to mention equaly lovely blond young lady who I can chat about our cats 🙏🏻😺 People matter... but coffee first. ☕️ 💥✨️😉

Thought we'd drop in for a coffee after a walk. Not particularly busy but the two lads there seemed to be struggling judging by the cluttered tables and the long wait. I gave one of the lads my order, he mentioned they only had paper cups which is a poor environmental decision, but whatever. Then, the other one bizarrely put my receipt in the bin after checking it. He then went on to prepare drinks for the chap after me who had only just come in, so he had clearly got confused. I pointed it out, so he then made my order after he had finished the one he was doing. Ah well, mistakes happen, but irritating. Sat down to drink our 'coffees' and noticed they were really watery. Got up and pointed this out to them and was informed they had run out of milk and only had skimmed and there was nothing they could do about it. Actually what they should have done is tell us they only had skimmed milk and we would have gone elsewhere! So, we sat and had our watery drinks, surrounded by other peoples rubbish, having paid nearly £8 for the privilege. Costa Wells, you are a coffee shop, so if you don't have the staff and stock to serve coffee to the public properly, dont bother to open and certainly don't charge full price for a paper cup of water.

Great staff and they cope well being understaffed. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

This coffee shop is a typical chain store. so their wares tend to be the same everywhere. The difference here though is that they are in a prime location close to the Wells Cathedral and marketplace. Visitors walk by this coffee shop all the time, so they are bound to attract more than a handful of customers. All I was after once I had strolled around the Wells market was a coffee, so this was the ideal location. Especially if the weather outside is not exactly the best.

Nice place to have a bit to eat and a coffee

Lovely branch of this well known chain. This was the first time using this branch as we were on holiday. They weren't busy at the time so we were served quickly. The food was great and the staff friendly. The toilets were also clean.

The worst experience experience I have ever had at a Costa! Asked for large caramel latte with 2 extra pumps of caramel.. (5 normal +2 as requested) As she was making the latte I noticed she had only put 4 in when I specifically requested 7 in total.. I asked could she put the rest in. I wad very rudely replied with " I have already put the amount in you asked for if you want more it'll cost extra) I replied I watched you and you only put 4 in. She got very irrate and refused to speak to me anymore and walked off aftetn

Best coffee we have ever had from a Costa and what an amazing art form. The man that served us even brought the coffee to our table.

Tables where not being cleared quickly enough. Staff lack training and customer service skills. Toastie we had was very soggy. They moaned when we wanted it done like how it should be.

Refused two women entry one of whom had an assistance dog with her. We even tried asking why. Just told no and sorry. Obviously not disabled ir blind person friendly. Very sad

Had a rather confusing expereience here yesterday afternoon. I came in with my mum and sisiter who hastily headed for the smoking area after leaving me to place the order… I couldn’t 100% remember what they told me (I am dyslexic and have memory difficulties), but went ahead and ordered a caramel macciato. Now, I’m not sure if costa do that coffee but in my muddled state that is what I asked for - I really didn’t expect to be spoken to like I was by the older woman on the till. She laughed and said ‘you can have that if that’s what you really want’. She seemed quite annoyed at the order so I asked if that was an unusual order and said that I could change it if they don’t do that here. She assured me that she would make it but it would have to be called something else (a cortado i think) and they would make it different. She then asked me if my sister had mentioned if she wanted her coffee made with syrup or vermicelli (I had to google this afterwards and turns out it’s a type of pasta so I really don’t understand what she meant). I was caught off guard by this question because I have NEVER been into a coffee shop and been asked how to make the coffee! Anyway, that was only the first thing on my list… I then asked for a latte and the lady said ‘phew at lease that’s simple’ - it made me think twice about placing the rest of my order (a tea with soya milk and 2 cakes) and I was starting to feel like a problem at this point. The lady then asked if I wanted the mince pie warmed up or cold - it was for my mum and she was outisde but I didn’t want to hold up the queue to go ask her so i said ‘umm I think cold will be fine.’ The lady laughed and shook her head again as if I didn’t know what I wanted and was being a problem. Now, I don’t know anything about coffee. The tea was for me and everything else was stuff I was trying to remember for the others. If there’s one thing I do know though, is that I walked in to that costa in a positive and happy mood. I spoke politely to the staff and tried to commincate what I wanted in a nice way. I walked out of that costa feeling completely humiliated, sad and upset. I couldn’t understand why the staff had spoken to me like that (especially as the store was quite quiet) and I was on the verge of crying in front of everyone in the queue. What I don’t understand is why the lady took what I ordered as such a problem. It would have been perfectly fine to say ‘sorry we don’t do that coffee here’. I could have ordered something else or something similar. What I did receive was opinions on everything I ordered, rude service and was made to feel like a complete fool. I tried to be nice and I was met with rudeness. I wondered if it was maybe what I looked like or what I was wearing that made the woman single me out because it felt like she had a problem with me… I really tried to be nice though and it’s upsetting when you get misunderstood like that. It’s a shame because I have visited that costa before and really enjoyed it but after this experience I don’t feel comfortable to come here again and will instead check out the #1 coffee over the road.

Terrible. Had a really great experience when I visited early 2021. Thought I'd try again and the staff clearly don't know what they are doing. Openly moaned about everyone quitting and didn't seem to care about the little customers that were in store. On top of that the place was run down, filthy and the coffee was poor. Won't be coming back

This shop has been closed all week. There is no notice on the door saying when it will reopen. The staff are lovely (when it’s open) but there is always something wrong - no stock, broken equipment or lack of staff. Very disappointing. Only a 2 because the staff are so friendly.

Costa is my preferred coffee chain, unfortunately this particular shop always seems to be understaffed with slow service.

Nice coffee,nice staff always on top of things ,costa coffee it seem to have the edge on there rivals coffee 1 which in my view have gone down as they need lessons from costa how to make coffee.

Staff very helpful...costa coffee is in my opinion one of the better coffees available on the high Street..only downside is its coffee not a pint of beer so why so expensive..in all fairness Costa is not the only ones who charge o.t.t. for JUST a coffee

Good coffee and cake - and clean loos

Have always been a Costa fan, their coffee is consistently good, however my only criticism of the Wells branch, is the ongoing problem of constantly seeing a notice saying takeaway cups only due to staff shortages, this seems to have been going on for months, and if i am sitting in I don't want a takeaway cup, when there is so much competition at places thst don't seem to have this problem..

Good coffee will return I think they are still a bit hung over from Covid but the staff still have a sense of humour, always worth a visit.

Very busy and rather disappointing!…not disappointing because it was busy but it was the general mess on the tables and floor within the coffee shop. The staff were helpful and polite and obviously overstretched. They were using take away cups and packaging for all products. Possibly due to staff shortages?. Many tables if not all tables were dirty and had rubbish on them. Staff (or lack of) made no effort to clear tables. Perhaps they could have provided a few bin bags for customers to use?!..the toilets were extremely dirty with urine on the floor no toilet paper or soap in the dispenser. The toilet bin was almost full and smelt dreadful. Obviously we are coming out of unprecedented times and many people are suffering with illness due to recent pandemic so this may have lead to staff shortages. Coffee tasted as expected and we had a slice of cake which again tasted as mass produced products do! Disability access throughout including shared facilities. 1 only toilet Male / Female / Disabled / gender neutral. No parking so use public car park in City

The coffee was really nice and the staff were helpful however I was very annoyed that the drinks were served in a takeaway cup and not a proper cup and I wasn’t even told before I payed. We forgot to order cream with the hot chocolate and we went back to ask some and they’re so stingy to the point they wouldn’t even put a dollop of cream without paying extra.

Went in after visiting the cathedral and Vicars' close. Enjoyed my drink as always. You know what your getting and that does me. Staff are quick and friendly too. Enjoyed being able to sit out the back in the 'garden area'.

Staff are excellent and focus on getting the orders correct as asked for. Felt safe and sound with Covid-19 precautions installed.

The tills has unfortunately gone down which for those who work in retail/services will know is very stressful. However both staff members (a man and woman) dealt with it so professionally. Offering customers to order though the app both staff members were extremely friendly and kept a smile through out!

This looks like in Wells.l like it. It's more open space. Quite a large seating area. Don't always find the staff helpful tho. Compared to other Costas l have been into. Perhaps it was an off day for them!!!!

We called in here for coffee on our visit to the beautiful city of Wells and were happy with the service. The coffee was served piping hot and the tables were clean so no complaints here.

There are a few coffee shops in Wells and I had not been here before, but, although it is a standard Costa, it is clean, comfortable, good snacks, good coffee, decent background music and generally a pleasant experience.

Tried vegan toastie, coffee and crisps, lunch deal. So pleased to find a hot vegan lunch option, so I combined early lunch and late coffee. Tasty and filling, good service too.

Horrendous coffee, rude unfriendly staff and the worst Costa I have ever been to

i`ve been several times, but on my last visit I thought it needed a bit of TLC. Wasn`t very clean. Took a long time for dirty crockery to be cleared from tables. A little more effort needed...

As always, a lovely store right in the heart of Wells. Much larger than you think, with extra seating at the back and a garden area for those who want a cigarette with their drink.

Service slow,dirty tables,coffee ok

I arrived c9.05am Sunday 29 September to join a queue of three people. There was only one member of staff who while clearly doing his best (I have absolutely no criticism of him) couldn’t cope on his own with taking orders, dealing with payment, and then preparing the orders. Interestingly, the person in front of me took pity on him and started clearing tables to help while her order was prepared!I lost interest in waiting after c15 minutes and left.One person on duty in a relatively busy cafe and relying on customers help is an appalling way to run a business (especially given the prices charged!).[Perhaps someone from Costa’s management should review the cctv to see how bad service was]

Love the stuff there ngl, lovely drinks and I visit for the drinks. Sometimes there is a lovely young lad who serves me, very nice. I have occasionally been served by a moody, disrespectful and rude middle aged woman who does not make me feel comfortable. Other than some staff issues, great place.

Being part of a chain, we knew what to expect in this Costa Coffee. We were not disappointed. The service was quick, and the drinks were of a normal standard.As they were not rushed off their feet at the time, the staff were not just looking at a customer while they took the orders and then concentrate on the next one.

Hello. In my younger years I was often found sipping a cooler in Costa. However after time the barista with black short hair became very rude. She discriminated my age and made me feel uncomfortable. Over time drinks became much worse and frequently got my order wrong. I ordered one drink with soya milk as I am allergic to moo milk and received cows milk. I pooed everywhere and had to spend a large amount on cleaning items for my toilet and clothes including a pressure steamer for my kitchen stains. Also I was wearing my absolutely treasured recently deceased grandmothers wedding dress and the damage is unfixible. And I had hoped to pass it down to my newborn baby Michelle and one day for the hopes of her to get married in it especially as she has been recently diagnosed in stage 4 leukimia. Won’t be coming back to costa ever and honestly ruining my life at this stage. A lawsuit is pending. Thankyou

As expected, a lovely coffee and a slice of delicious cake. Comfy chairs ideal for a chat and relax after a bit of shopping.

The drinks were nice and hot and exactly as expected. I would have loved to have given this a 5 but unfortunately the 'miserable' male assistant manager wasn't great. The lady who served us was very polite and welcoming. But unfortunately the male let it down for us, and the way he spoke to his lady colleague was uncalled for and rude
