Costa Coffee in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I thought customer facing staff are taught how to give a professional service, she definitely didn't. I will not allow a teen to look me up and down, horrible as we are paying their wages.

What a toxic and unhealthy place to have attended. I won’t be going there again. I was there with a couple of friends when a customer came in with earphones on and the two female members of staff started talking behind that customers back stating they don’t like them at all. The customer clearly did not hear them talking about them, but is that why customers come into Costa? To get a drink and opinion on people: Why does it matter whether they don’t like a customer. People come in to get a drink or food. That’s it. And for us to hear it as well. My friends and I looked at each other in disgust and decided to leave. Really really unprofessional.

This is a excellent coffee shop,with good service with a smile even if they are told to increase their prices.

Worst coffee I’ve ever had. Staff are unbothered and rude. They even rolled their eyes asking for two extra shots of coffee which they never put in. We never even got a costa cup. I live near here and this is a constant problem there is always an issue either rude staff, no ice or little enthusiasm to put the effort into making a nice coffee. I’m a big costa fan but as off today I’m not going to this one anymore it ruins the experience of getting my favourite coffee.

Really want to counter some of the more negative reviews I see here. I've never really had an issue here, other than sometimes it is hard to get a seat as it is small but very popular and it was obvious that staff members were leaving their cars in the 20min bay right outside the shop but I think that has stopped now. The staff are great I think I know why there are some complaints about a certain member (not sure if they are there anymore though), but once you get to know the staff there, you see it should not detract from the overall thoughts of the place. It has recently had a refurb and now looks wonderful. Finally, for the people marking Costa down because of the parking restrictions, it is not anything to do with Costa, it's essentially a private car park, so any overstay charges are with the private owner of the car park, you can't mark down Costa for this. Also, realise, if there weren't the restrictions (which aren't that restrictive, 2 hours stay is more than enough) then parking situation would be even worse!

Have visited a number of times before but today witnessed not only poor service but also a rude attitude to customers. It was lunchtime so busy. Food and drinks all served in takeaway containers as they didn't have time to wash up. I accept new staff have to learn but there was no sense of urgency from any staff. When approached by customers their responses were rude and followed by staff laughing to each other. Unacceptable I shall not be visiting again.

Very clean but I'm not a fan of Costa as they are overpriced if however you like that sort of thing then you'll like this one .

Met a friend for a coffee and chat. Very impressed by the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. It is quite small inside, and was quite busy.

Having driven into St Austell and been totally underwhelmed (sad looking centre with empty units at every turn) we found this slightly out of town Costa.It’s located within a Travelodge and looked reasonably new and well cared for. Small outside sitting area which is a real sun trap - having said this the view of the car park is not the best!Good service, usual food selection and having since read the reviews here on TA - I recall there was a notice on the door re. the car parking restrictions, although there are formal notices around the perimeter of the car park (maybe these were not so obvious a while ago)A good choice on this occasion, although it would have been a pleasant change to find a local, good, independent!

Visited Costa on our way to a family outing, had a fantastic atmosphere. We were served by Tristan who was very friendly and even came over to give us our drinks so we weren't waiting by the counter! Was thrilled by this excellent service and would definitely come again!

Four of us had teas and coffees at Costa in St Austel. As usual we were all happy with our drinks and i was able to buy a bag of their roasted beans.

A friend and myself decided to catch up with each other at Costa. A week after the visit I have received a PCN. I no longer have the receipts which were paid for in cash. Without this evidence I felt certain that the Costa would have cctv of us entering and leaving. Unfortunately, the staff who were more than happy to take our money the week before were unwilling to offer any assistance and just referred to the fact that they do not manage the car park.

My friend and I arranged to catch up over a coffee at Christmas time. Unfortunately our coffee catch up ended up costing us. We both received £100 parking fines for parking over the 2 hour limit, which was not obvious from signs in the car park or explained to us by staff in Costa. I suggest the staff warn their customers about the parking situation. The location (out of town) means it is likely most of the customers would use the car park. It is safe to say we will find somewhere else for our next coffee catch up.

The cafe is like any other Costa but the parking is a shocker! I am a regular to Costa and this one in particular - I never knew the parking was limited to two hours, regardless of whether or not you are a patron. I was heavily pregnant and when my friend, who had come down from Bristol, suggested meeting I thought this would be the perfect place, as I couldn’t walk far. Neither of us saw any signs about the parking and there are no warnings in Costa; the staff didn’t bother to mention, despite us being the only customers for the most part. We each received £100 charge and despite appealing, providing evidence that we were patrons, the charge was upheld. To top it off my appeal rejection letter informed me that the parking was for patrons only!! There is no means to discuss the charge over the phone and when I contacted Costa about it they said they couldn’t help. This was all extremely stressful and upsetting, right when I was due to give birth to my first child. I won’t be visiting this Costa again, nor any of the restaurants served by this carpark!!! In a town that is half dead, with most retailers failing it would do well to look after its customers, particularly those who aren’t just around for the holiday season!!

The usual fare for a Costa outlet but dreadful service. The restaurant had a dozen occupied tables on a quiet Bank Holiday Sunday morning. It took for ever to be served one coffee and two cakes to take away. Staff were too busy talking to each other either about a recent baby arrival presumably of another staff member, or the merits and practicalities of having a bar-b-que! There is friendly and there is over friendly. We just wanted to get on our way..

Stay in the Travelodge quite frequently. Service is always dreadful! Staff are nice and friendly, but so incredibly slow! Port in a storm sadly...we need coffee, and Costa is 'there'...great parking, plus for those inclined, cheap Chicken and burger outlets on same park.

Recently went here while in St Austell found the coffee OK and the cakes but was alarmed to read about the parking fine from a previous writer will not be going again.

As I spend most of my Saturday's visiting Costa for coffee and cake, decided to try this whilst on holiday to see if it had the same level of standard as my local Costa.

A regular Costa Coffee, really little different from others up and down the country. Nearly empty on a Monday afternoon too.
