Costa Coffee in Chelmsford

I am a regular customer at this Costa, and have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful, the service is always quick and efficient. Today service was slow after placing my order. I discovered this was caused by a male who assumed was management demanding numerous different drinks were made for him. My assumption being as a quality control. Not a good show making customers wait. Mr manager, you did not create a good impression.

£9 for coffee and a wrap, then a £100 parking fine for spending too long in the car park.. not cheap!

Got absolutely shafted. Being stung for parking there for 4 hours. After having 3 rounds of coffee with my sister who I hadn’t seen for years. Thanks Costa I’ll be sure to go there again. ( don’t get this at Starbucks).

Met up for a coffee n cake with friends, but ended up with a £100 for parking there for more than 90mins! Won’t be going there again!

Parking is very tight with very few spaces available .

The manager doesn't like to be told when she makes a bad coffee even though we are paying good money !

Easy to use fast, and always efficient staff.

I found this shop to be dirty and grubby. The toilets were not good either especially as there was no soap and the hand drier was not working. Even the staff couldn’t wash their hands properly! Not a enough staff so long queues inside the shop.

Same as any other Costa! Great location for a pit stop!

Frequently closed when it is advertised to be open. Obviously got management problems here.

I am not a great fan of Costa's coffee blend, but it seems many like it; it's personal preference so there's no right/wrong. The toilet is almost always in need of a clean-up which is a criticism of every Costa branch I have visited. Coffee is more expensive at Costa than the three alternatives only a few hundred yards away, but you do get a nicer seat if its not busy, and proper cups and saucers if you prefer to pay for that level of service.

Staff were polite and fine, but drinks were not to spec, cream didn't taste right.

Staff are friendly and helpful me and my sister love to have a treat of hot chocolate with the full works of cream and marshmallows it was so nice to get asked if we wanted the marshmallows in our drink as normally they are on the side and they do not have enough time to melt and that's the best ! So thank you Costa 😃

The staff are nice and polite. Clean & tidy

The staff are pleasant enough but the cafe was dirty, tables and chairs wobbly. I lost half my cuppa when I sat down. The cafe wasn’t busy when I stopped by, but it felt cramped and grubby with terrible music playing. The manager looked as dishevelled as the cafe. Not a enjoyable experience, I guess as a drive-thru they don’t care about the interior.

Food , drinks and service excellent

I ordered my coffee before I left my house via click and collect. Left early to beat local traffic on Monday morning. Turn up to a sign on the door to say no staff but drive thru still open. Had no choice having paid for the drink already to sit in a really slow queue. Told woman over the tannoy that I’ve ordered via C&C. I pulled up and I’m immediately given the drink I ordered 15 mins ago which is now like warm at best. I have asked to see if it’s hot and why they would make it knowing I’d have to sit in the drive thru queue - to be told ‘we have to make it as soon as we receive the order’ clearly common sense does not prevail here. Got a load of attitude from the woman in there and now sat in traffic late for work - thanks Costa! . I’ll go Mac Donald’s next time for a coffee half the price and done properly. Pull your socks up. Not acceptable. Hope management sees this and irons out some attitudes and hires some decent staff!

Went on a Sunday at midday and the place was busy. Got seats but bit of a wait for our drinks as the queue was long. Average drinks.

I love Costa Coffee and the service is always excellent.

As good as ever. Except not enough pumps for lager.not premier lager.

Far too regularly you now just get a cup of hot milk with a tiny hint of coffee. It's clear only one or maybe two of the staff actually care about making a nice cup of coffee. The dude who is on mornings is the absolute worst. It's not hard to steam some milk and pour it into a cup properly. Steaming and then going to do a thousand other things (whilst you destroy the milk) is the culprit.

Lovely staff and coffee. I would be sujust you charge you times on the website went there this morning and it states open at 4.30am but it was closed and on the door says 7am and this was including the drive thu

Really slow long queues and ignoring customers not great.

Used to be good, gone downhill. Card payment rarely works and you do not find out before entering the drive thru

Understaffed, place looks like a bombsite

Seating looked comfy tho I was just grabbing a take away coffee from inside (not drive through). Ordered flat white as I like a strong coffee but this transpired to be a cup of hot coffee-flavoured milk with some froth on the top. The cup is too big for flat white. Costa, you need to train your barista better and get stronger coffee!

Good coffee, but let down by the unsmiling lady taking the orders and making the drinks. It was like she was doing me a favour by serving me. First visit to this branch will be the last.

Stopped for quick coffee and snack. Hugely long wait despite hardly any customers here. No apology for the long wait. The place is filthy! No tables cleared, food all over the floor. Disgusting. No napkins. Will not visit again. One assumes they only really care about their drive through customers.

Ordered a Easter special ice chocolate for my son, as he wanted the chocolate bunny..... but no chocolate bunny with his drink as they run ..... he was very disappointed

It's costa average coffee which takes a lifetime to make and sickly sweet cakes. The staff are friendly though, which was the best part of going in there.

Enjoy this Costa as the staff have gotten to know us over the years they are really friendly and I'll go out of my way to visit this one even though I live in the town centre I'll drive to this one. Good sitting area, good with kids and while the drive thru is slow the service is excellent

Went through the drive through on a bit of an impulse. Ordered almost straight away and only one car ahead of us. Waited 10 minutes for our order of 2 drinks though which I feel is too long.

Staff were friendly and able to assist when asked. Staff were also able to make drinks to standard

Love the cappuccino from here my favourite place to drive through and get a large cup and Love the free cup. 5 star all the way.

VERY BAD!!!!!!! i ordered a white hot chocolate at the drive through. however, when i went to drink, it was a cup of warm milk!!! the staff forgot to give receipt and marshmallows as well!! the staff also didn’t accept my costa rewards card. DO NOT GO HERE!

Recently refurbished, this place looks nice and tidy. It's a nice place to sit and chill with a cup of coffee and relax. The food was hot the coffee was well made. Great service!

Must have had a change of manager/staff. This visit coffee was spilled onto tray at counter and he just threw a few serviettes on the tray. Table hadn't been cleaned either.

Food and drink good but cutlery really dirty. Looked like their dishwasher needed a clean! Tables clean and toilets clean. Service was friendly and we were able to get some extra napkins so we could clean the cutlery before use. Not Costas usual standards

didn't take £50 note although legal tender said it could be fake so refused meaning i had to give all my food back and only have my coffee of which i had a £5 note

A great costa ,seating available & no que for service .highly reccomend this place.

I do like this Costa, it is a nice one. Only issue I have is it feels a bit devoid of atmosphere or character, there is a Costa closer to me which has more. Possibly arrangement of the seating areas.

Great coffee and excellent customer service! I had a coconut latte and a delicious almond croissant. Cant wait to revisit it and sit in when I have a bit more time.

It's a very nice coffee ☕but if you like me and have to use a mobility scooter you can't get across the road unless you ride through the shell garage and around the road which is very dangerous as the traffic cannot see you!!! All because there is no drop curb between the the garage and Costa coffee.

Easy to park and enter store, hand sanitiser at entrance, QR code at table to use as evidence of being there....the only downside was coffee wasn't hot enough

Service with a smile, the coffee is good and the cakes are always fresh. What more can you ask for. You can't buy happiness but you can buy cake, and that's kind of the same thing ;-]

Welcoming. I like Costa coffee shops in general but I find this one excellent for business meetings. Location is great for a catch up. Motorcycle parking available is a plus.

It was very busy today. But the staff were very friendly and helpful!

Till staff were fantastic. However the lady making the coffees was awful, terrible attitude and when I asked for a cup holder she looked at me in disgust. The ever so friendly till guy said her name was Laura.. and would speak to the manager.

The entire team here are amazing!!!! Amazing! They're all hardworking, organised, friendly and on the ball. I literally go out of my way to come here. It helps they are also a drive through and they love kids. Coffee is great as well. Result.

Jade was very rude when she served us. Answered ‘what’ in an aggressive manor when we asked about the meal deals. Didn’t offer any sugar etc or thank us when we collected drinks and food. Served customer behind us the last of the food that we ordered. Wouldn’t recommend stopping off here - go to McDonald’s next door!

Queued for quite some time, the queue moved alot slower then usual. Had no cold drinks that they make, didn't find this out till we were half way round and already stuck in the queue.

As always, the drive through Costa on the way to Chelmsford from Braintree delivered me yet another lovely coffee!
