Costa Coffee in Newcastle upon Tyne

I've been a regular customer for years. The staff it used to be always friendly and used to provide a very good customer service. But later on the staff changed and it wasn't like that anymore. Two members of staff (Emma and Donna) seemed that they don't like foreign customers. That's why I never went back. I prefer to go elsewhere where they know more about customer service!!

Auful young lass on today. Won't come back I go to Greggs.

I regularly visit this costa as I'm a bus driver and if I have time at Eldon Square I go and treat myself to a coffee, the staff here are so friendly and efficient, I couldn't recommend this costa branch enough! 5* service girls!

Friendly staff, have been here before but this time it was so busy tge experience wasn't quite the same. They probably needed more staff.

My favourite Costa branch. The staff are friendly and the café is always pleasantly quiet and clean. The drinks are always delicious and very convenient, since it’s in the bus station and right next to the shops.

Staff are very friendly, coffee and cakes are good, the area isn't the cleanest and often you have to clear your own table

Went just before closing time, very travel weary. Made welcome and not hurried by the courteous staff team. Thank you.

I enjoyed a croissant and a panettone with an americano, each was delicious ( and a welcome respite in following my fiancée around the shops) and the service was friendly and apt.

Delicious food and coffee. Tried mango and passion fruit cooler, it was nice as well.

I love Costa, I usually get a fruit cooler and the cakes are nice too but, the toilets are horrendous, there are fruit flies all over the cafe and there are students taking up a tables that seat 4 people. To top it off I was sitting in the relatively busy seating area and there was only 1 table left, there was an asian woman maybe about 40 (a student) sitting picking her nose and eating it, biting her nails and flicking it on the floor; non the wiser that lots of people were staring at her in disgust, I was absolutely repulsed and now every time I walk past a Costas I think of that moment. Sad to say because of that incident I will not be back - EVER!!

Best costa in Newcastle hands down, staff a mint.

The Eldon Square and Northumberland Street branches are always incredibly friendly and provide excellent service even during busy periods, they all make visiting Costa a very pleasant experience

Queue not bad served pretty quick. But the cutlery was absolutely filthy so asked for clean set to be met with stoney faced assistant who had to search through the draw for clean ones, couldn't find any so slapped more dirty ones down. It was all dirty , the customer getting served also got dirty ones. With corona and flu going round it needs to be washed properly. And an apology would have made things a little better but she never spoke just a dirty look.

Not good. The servery is filthy - when they open the milk fridge you can see how dirty it is from the other side of the counter. Americano had lots of floating limescale, machine needs a proper descale! Eugh, awful.

my favourite Costa. staff are so friendly and remembered me even after I’d only been there once or twice and hadn’t visited in ages! Great at recommending items and chatty. Love sitting in here with my laptop and getting on with some work, perfect signal. Gets great sunlight in too.

Just as you would expect. Very well presented, served and enjoyed. Efficiency and quality are two things I look for and that is why I always try and find a Costa.

Good choice of drinks and snacks. Took a while to get the tables emptied and cleaned. No toilet paper in the disabled toilet.

Lovely kind and helpful staff and coffee ☕️... awful rubbery half toasted sandwich but.. they were disabled friendly and carried my tray to my table as I can't manage with that and walking stick. So.... come on Costa bosses and make some lovely fresh/tasty/ original hot breakfast sandwiches to go down with that delicious 😋 fresh black coffee ☕️. Once again lovely staff.

A warm place to enjoy your drink alone or with company. The new reward system is way better than its predecessor. A bit pricey though!

Pleasant surroundings. Clean toilets. Part if he cinema so wasn't able to use my rewards but I did get a coffee bean towards next reward.

Far 2 expensive needs knock the prices down a lot ! The place needs a good cleaning aswell ! I don't recommend u go there again 2 expensive 4 a coffee the prices are sky high needs a good upgrade with cleaning and prices

Chilled early coffee and toasted Teacake but I do know this store goes bananas later on. I would certainly recommend this Costa inside Eldon Square for a quiet and relaxed place to wait for the stores opening. The staff seem OK. Not friendliest I have come across but not rude. The store is clean and tidy so can't complain.

Coffee and cake were lovely, went to buy a syrup to bring home had the exact money but was then told its was more as they had to add sugar tax on to it, I asked why it wasn't added already they gave no answer..be wary of what you pay in the end as no one likes hidden costs.

Standard coffee chain - just what you would expect from Costa. Clean, tidy and drinks + food was nice. I do think £4 for a toastie is a little of the expensive side especially with how much filling is actually in it.

I know they have to follow the Covid guidelines, but by God they're militant about it. They could do it a little more lightly. It sucks all of the joy from the experience.

Paid a visit here today for the first time since the covid restrictions, other Costa branches seem to be handling it quite well however this branch is lacking in some areas. The gentleman standing taking the orders near the door was helpful and friendly and that's a good way of taking orders as at least you don't have to shout from behind a mask and a plastic screen to get your order heard. However, once we had placed our order the lady told us to stand on that spot and wait, which we did. Naturally, once the couple in front of us had moved forward we then proceeded to move forward as we assumed it was all part of a one way entry and exit system, but then a different lady serving on the till next to us barked at us to go back to where we had been standing. It meant that the people behind us couldn't get served at our till and had to then walk around us to get to the other till, it just made no sense. We grew more and more confused, as we were confined to one space and scared to move incase we got shouted at again, eventually we got told to move forward by the lady but by that point there was a pushchair in front so we physically couldn't get around to move forward to collect our drinks, she then just brought them to us and said, "Eee I know it's confusing isn't it?" Well erm no actually it isn't, you're just making it confusing when it doesn't need to be! Eventually we received our drinks after couples had been served after us and got their drinks before us. Overall we felt that it was quite a poor system which needs looking at, you're making it complicated when it simply does not need to be! Be like the other Costas and just have one way entry and exit systems in place to avoid any confusion. Next time we'll just go to Caffè Nero instead as it's far less hassle and incidentally nicer coffee!
