Costa Coffee in Harlow

Bulk standard coffee and service, walked in with no high expectations and ofcourse met fully. I ordered large latte and lemon poppy seed muffin. The coffee was luke warm and very weak, muffin was dry.....but i didn't expect more. This place need a proper attention!!

Went in and got some drinks, it’s dead quiet and there was a trainee all by her self serving and taking ages with everything. Took 10 mins to order. Also at the table we had ants crawling all up our cups and on our food. Disgusting. Avoid at all costs. Ordered a hazelnut hot chocolate and they didn’t even bother to ass the syrup. Ridiculous. Costa should close this place down to rescue their reputation fr.

Worst coffee from a Costa ever. Went for a coffee, we had an espresso and a decaf latte. Espresso was disappointing with spillage all over the cup, the latte was basically hot milk, sent the latte back and somehow they managed to make the replacement worse

Have been a costomer of Costa coffee years, spend on average £200 a month on coffee, as I go into Costa coffee wherever I may be that day, but this coffee shop harlow water gardens is the reason I’m leaving this review, Jenny is extremely abrupt & so argumentative even though she is always wrong, but because for some reason I feel sorry for her I let it go, until today I over heard her slagging my mum off in-front of queuing customers, this is Unacceptable behavior which I will Not tolerate, I don’t know who she thinks she is, they give this cannot be bothered attitude, they don’t always finish your drinks off you always have to ask for the toppings, I mean the price of it you want your moneys worth as it’s shown on the picture, which I’m sure they would expect the same, when you ask you receive a cut eye look, today when the manager came over after I confront Jenny telling her to never speak about my mum like that, if you have something to say, say it to our face, not out allowed so all queuing customers can hear making us look like fools, (coward)…!! Costomer’s sitting next to us said Costa Coffee has gone down hill, she said you spend a lot of money on coffee to be served in a paper cup, this is the other problem every shop either is out of coffee, sauces, toppings, coffee machine isn’t working, dishwasher is t working, toilets out of order there isn’t any soap, Today everyone was drinking from plastic cups because they don’t have the staff to wash the cups, the manager said it’s hard when people are moaning at us, yet she stood there moaning about staffing issues how the mangers don’t care, she said they asked to merge coffee shops together but they said no, etc etc, spoke to my sister-in-law after this incident she said she went in asked for a normal hot chocolate for her 9year old to be told we can’t do that, she said but you have ingredients there, they said NO.! So she left went to Starbucks they simply made it, she has never looked back, maybe that’s why they do it because they cannot handle the pressure, some people are not cut out for serving the public working fast, you know what they say,! If you can’t handle the heat, get out the kitchen

Visited Costa coffee shop this afternoon on broadwalk... I had the polite audacity to ask if my coffee could be hot. And was met with a response from an aggressive & rude lady that I should have asked for it at the till...😳 Her attitude was appalling and I probably got my backup a little bit because of that. I mentioned in the website that a customers 'will be asked' if they want the milk hot or cold but this was obviously too much trouble for the lady in question. Look, We all have bad days I get that but that's no reason to take it out on a customer who is asking a perfectly polite request... All in all, not nice. Please be polite guys, it costs absolutely nothing. I'm sure some customers can be annoying but when a customer politely asks you for a hot milk there's no need to be rude and aggressive... The Costa at the NEXT store in Harlow is much nicer with friendly staff...go there! And Staple Tye, even better!! 👍 #JustSaying Respect works both ways. Regards, Robert

Terrible service takes to long to make 1 coffee over 50 minutes I have stayed at waited it tooo to long but the coffee is nice but please be quicker workers are to slow!

Average, expensive coffee, expensive snacks and cakes. Staff were nice. spacious area, plenty of seating. In shopping area. Toilet. Easy to park.

Ordered two slices of cake and drinks to take away. The server could not find the cake I wanted and I had to point it out to her. She said it wasn't the cake I wanted as it had a label on it which hadn't been changed. I ended up getting it anyway. The order finally arrived and was served on a tray to sit in. I said I had wanted a take away order. The drinks were then slopped into take away cups and I again complained. New drinks were then made in takeaway cups. On eating the cake, it was found to be incredibly stale. I took it back and said I was not prepared to pay £3.00 a slice for stale cake. They didn't even apologise and just gave me my money back. All together a very unenjoyable and incredibly stressful visit. I would have thought that with that many staff, it would have been a better executed service.

Costa has gone down the ratings in my opinion. All my children have worked in one and their colleagues all worked well as a team, served the customers with little waiting times, and kept their store clean after messy customers. At 5 pm, two female members of staff were behind the counter whilst the third, male member was an embarrassment. His job at the time was to clear the tables and floor. Well I have to say, it provided me with some entertainment. No wonder he was slim, with all the walking backwards and forwards carrying just one or two items to the kitchen. It didn't occur to him that he could pick up a tray and load it with the customer's crockery and rubbish and make fewer journeys but I suppose he was trying to kill time. The best part was watching him sweep. It did not occur to him to bring the dustpan with him at the same time as the broom. Instead he swanned around the store sweeping and sweeping until he made a pile at the far end of the store where customers walked in and nearly stepped in it, then carried on sweeping another pile. Eventually, after he made his two piles he had to take his time to go and get......... yes, you've guessed it: the dustpan. It was fun watching him trying to sweep everything into the dustpan. One bugger of a paper bag refused to get in and he fought and fought with it until the bag was exhausted and finally gave up the fight. Hurrah, two-thirds of the floor had now been swept, but wait.... what about the last section? Never mind, he just walked up and down, ignoring the paper napkins on the floor, as if they didn't exist, poor things. Oh, I forgot to mention, whilst sweeping under the chairs he managed to dislodge them from the table and they were scattered around as if someone was playing musical chairs and was pushed off them. Well, the finale was this. One of the girls who was serving customers was obviously fed up with him as I was so she came around cleared up the remaining tables and straightened all the chairs. It took all of 20 seconds, tops and it looked a dream. My man was last seen with gloves on heading towards the toilets.

Picked up a cheeky Frostino from this wonderful store this afternoon having grown enamoured by the service of the excellent staff members. Two days ago Jenny served an amazing Gingerbread Latte, which is a must for all customers who like their ginger and premium coffee. Could not have asked for a better quality of service and the speed of service in an extremely busy branch was equally as impressive as the quality of service. Great ambassadors for their employers.

Went into costa Edinburgh way 8th July excellent service once again staff doing a brilliant shop under these circumstances , nice to sit - relax once again , it's much better not cramped

Why oh why can't a speedier service be put in place here? Constantly long queues out the door. Staff are doing their best but it's soooooo slow. A new system is needed. I don't come here anymore.

Rude staff. We came in for a quick hot chocolate around 5.30pm and almost every table was filthy with cups everywhere. After sitting down and pulling a chair over in an area away from other people (social distancing is hard here) we were rudely told that we could not do this. The place was virtually empty and there was nowhere else clean for the four of us to sit. Total jobsworth girl cleaning. We had 2 choices. Move to filthy tables or sit separately. We left. Won’t be coming back. Train your staff to clean and speak nicely to people.

coffee was average,staff were walking through seating area without masks and allowing customers to walk around without masks on,unchallenged.Customers were not following the "one way system" which means it is not obvious enough.

The coffee is average, the environment is modern but not overly impressed as table service is not up to speed. I will call in again for my flat white.

This is a fairly large Costa cafe with a good level of seating and (extremely clean) toilet facilities. The Cafe is located in the town centre and so there is no adjacent parking but plenty of 'paid' parking nearby. Floor signs help to maintain the required 2m distances near the sales counter and every table is appropriately sanitised which is comforting. The staff here were friendly and there was a good selection of food on offer. Unfortunately, there is perhaps insufficient staff and the queue for service took quite some time. Still, always a good coffee/snack to be had at Costa.

Visited for lunch today. Staff keeping up good cleaning practice. Quite busy owing to “eat out to help out” but no problem finding a table. Only problems were idiots who still don’t know what social distancing means and selfish customers who still use the place as their office, taking up tables with laptops and one takeaway drink. They should be encouraged to move on at busy times.

Pre COVID I was a regular once , sometimes, twice a day visitor . My first visit , today , post COVID will probably be my last . It was like standing in a post office waiting for your turn , to be shouted at across the room “Can I Help you?” A medium cappuccino please’ “Anything else?” ‘Have you got a bacon roll please? ‘ “I meant to drink”. ‘Whoops sorry’. Just paid for coffee and left . Not a pleasant experience and the coffee wasn’t all that , either, to be honest . I don’t think I’ve missed Costa as much as I thought I did .

We were looking for an updated Laptop in Curry's PC World and needed time to think before making a decision.The Costa Coffee Shop was convenient and close and provided a few moments to think things through, the Flat White was amazing as was the Cappuccino, for convenience and time to think helped our decision. Worth a visit if shopping close by!!!

The welcome like the coffee was excellent. The staff were very polite and friendly. The tables clean and tidy and the floor well swept. The toast and jam were very tasty.

Me And My stister always come here on a Sunday at around half 9. and the Breakfast is nice. We had some toast With Butter and Jam and a Hot Chocolate Medium it was really nice meal and nice seating and nice atmosphere and space out considering Broad Walk Branch. Keep on the good work will be returning and recommending to loacals.

We often stop for a coffee and sometimes a cake at Costas. Sometimes the cake can be disappointing but not on this occasion. The coffee was very full in flavour and the double chocolate cake was moist and extremely fresh and chocolaty. The welcome was good, and the tables clean and tidy.

Very untidy. Tables were full of disused trays with cups etc left by previous customers. Floor was full of rubbish Service area to get sugar etc was dirty and empty had to ask for sugar and a napkin . The server had forgotten to take a muffin to a customer and not refilled the tray Toilets were disgusting rubbish on the floor . Though it the two staff were friendly Over all poor visit Still the same The staff are untrained in my opinion. Holding on to people’s glass / china cups by the top of the cup not the handle. Spilling the drink in the saucer Picking up food with out wearing gloves. It’s always freezing in here The coffee has no flavour. It didn’t stay hot. This is convenient to go to before the cinema across the road but I’ve been bitten too many times. I will never come in here again.

My friend & I gave this coffee shop “one more chance” at our usual time 10:30am. Long slow moving queue, place surprisingly heaving with people. Latte often lukewarm and “gone” in an expensive 3 sips, so ordered flat white coffee, which was good. Cheese & ham toastie also fine. Glad it was a pre-wrapped choice. My friend told staff member there were at least 2 flies sitting on the cakes in the glass cabinets.Hard to find a clear, clean table. A sizeable amount of tables are taken up by people working on a laptop, with an empty mug/plate. The dirty floors are caused by mums who let their babies & toddlers throw food around, but don’t bother to try & pick up after them, not the staff’s fault. Since the refurbishment, the acoustics in this place are terrible, (laminate flooring/different seating materials?) you can’t hear yourself think, let alone have a relaxed conversation. Everyone has to shout, I couldn’t wait to get out. On our visit prior to this one, early Sept, we had to move to the outside tables as it was like a chicken house inside, so very noisy.Toilets are awful, obviously not regularly checked & cleaned. I have since been to Broad Walk branch, always much better there , but the young man clearing cups & plates was a little over-keen, obviously Costa Management has picked up on the “slow clearing” complaints down at Queensgate.

Costa on the broadwalk Harlow. very poor service, waiting 15 minutes after making payment is rather ridiculous for a Latte and a peach iced tea. 1 barista and 1 trainee. A great way to start the day.

Always busy, service has improved due to refurb and access to the counter. Flat Whites and Medium Cappuccino always consistent. Thank you, see you soon!

Our welcome was warm and very friendly. I found the coffee to be well-flavored and it was served with hot milk. My partners hot chocolate was excellent, super chocolaty but expensive. The chocolate cake was almost average but just a tad dry.The table was clean and tidy with only a few bits of paper on the floor that hadn't been swept up.

Oh where to begin... popped in for a quick coffee and bite to eat with the other half. Though the initial service prompt the staff seem unenthusiastic to say the least. The place itself is dirty, no tables clear, crumbs everywhere. I then got a glimpse of the floor and surfaces behind the counter. Now pondering whether I need to have a bleach chaser with my food...

Dropped by for a coffee when visiting the retail park and service was and order quickly taken. Coffee was good and price good to. Only issue was there was lots of dirty tables which made the place look bad.

A very modern looking costa, much larger from the outside however. Polite staff and the coffee was well made, however I will say a lot of tables were left for a fair while to be cleaned. However can’t fault the service or the coffee.

The cat being the manager. I get the impression this Costa is run by surly, unmanaged teenagers who can't be bothered to sweep up food on the floor or clear the tables or restock the toilet. It's constantly messy in this Costa. Really messy and dirty. Which is a shame in a good location.

As soon as I walked in the door I could see how chaotic this place was. I should have turned back at that point.

Always find this Costa to be very relaxing with floor to ceiling windows and surrounded by many retail parks and a cinema, Great service plenty of seating and never too crowded, always seems very fresh and clean here also.

This costa has lovely warm and friendly staff and the large hot chocolate was delicious, but the cleanliness is a bit of a problem.

Was in Harlow shopping and thought we would have a coffee for a treat. Ordered 1 chocolate and two Latte`s. Both Latte`s did not have the Syrup in them. We did not notice until we were out of Harlow. A real disappointment at £3.30 a pop.

Date afternoon Visit to the cinema. Of course beforehand, a costa coffee. The staff are friendly, the store is clean. Always seem to have the same barista which is fine, the coffee is as always the best in the country.

The service was warm and friendly and the Costa coffee was as I have come to expect, just about perfect. The downside was the tables were not that clean and there were bits of dropped food on the floor.

Love the staff at Harlow Town centre costa. Coffee is always lovely. Nice clean seating area. Love a visit to Costa :)

It was lunch time. I ordered a snack which needed heating up. Instead of standing around at the counter, I was encouraged to find a table and a member of staff brought it to me.

We love Costa but when we visited this store with our 3 young children it was a disaster!

Great coffee...nice and extra hot as requested. Plenty of available seating inside and out. Great service from staff today. Toilets were nice and clean.plenty of parking available.

The place looked like a bomb had hit it and like it hadn’t been cleaned and tidied for a week. It was hard to find a table that was clear to sit at and had to clear one ourselves including wiping it down. It’s not just things on the floor the floor was dirty and when you are drinking and eating in there in kinda puts you off tbh

Weekday mid morning. Long queues ... perfect hot coffee. Happy staff serving taking orders and money... once toastie arrives it’s thrown across the table at you.... no knife no enjoy ! Nice taste & hot food . Think service could have a tad of attention.... tables were cleared quickly & area tidy.

Had a double espresso today and was busy as usual but staff we're very professional specially Hollie, she was very welcoming and with a smile in her face, make my espresso even better than usual. Great Staff, keep it going with hard work and good feeling making everyone enjoying.

Not very busy but still a 15 minute queue to be served. Most tables had cups and plates on that had not been removed any left still dirty not been wiped down.

Visited for a quick snack , whilst shopping . The Caramel Latte was excellent . Enjoy a marvellous Cheese and Marmite Ciabatta Roll

I've been in here a couple of times in the last two weeks for a take away coffee and cake. On both occasions the service has been very slow - and it wasn't due to lots of people, the staff just seem to faff about!...

Mi café estaba frío y la cue era mucho en volver y quejarse. Los inodoros había visto días mejores bastante sucia. Me alegro de no visitar esta Costa muy a menudo.

This Costa Coffee has improved since being refurbished BUT the queues at busy times of the day are horrendous! It needs more staff.

Enjoyed the toffee apple hot chocolate and caramel shortcake, but would have liked to have seen a cleaner environment. The place was busy but that really was no excuse for an unclean floor.

Visited harlow today and popped in to this costa while shopping with my husband and daughter. Very long queue but it was managed very efficiently by the staff. Lots of seating.nice and tidy. lovely coffee. my daughter had peach lemonade which although very sweet was absolutely lovely. She had a gluten free brownie as well which was yummy. would definitely pop back in when next in the area.

Better then other costa coffees but still overally loud and untidy so not an ideal place if a quiet cup of coffee is wanted. Food is very expensive.

This Costa in Harlow town has the worst customer service ever. Three working girls are so miserable there, gave change wrong, were too lazy to give me warm milk instead just poured cold milk. They were stressful to look at! Then fire alarm went off and they didn't know what to do so while they were panicking we finished our coffees (during fire alarm) and left. Don't think I will be going there again. Coffee is good, cakes are nice but customer service wow the worst!!!

Was taken to the town centre branch when on a shopping trip in Harlow. Being a tea drinker, have always been reluctant to pay up to £2 for a small pot of water, a tea bag and a drop of milk, no matter who the company is. When said beverage is a half filled pot of lukewarm (at best) water, with a waterproof teabag and a dirty cup, really shows why we normally try to avoid this chain particularly.

Miserable staff!!!Seriously, this is the worst coffee shop in the town. The staff just aren't polite and if anything have a 'whatever' attitude. What surprises me is that the staff in the other Costas in Harlow are lovely! So what's wrong with Queens Gate? It appears to be a bit of a culture there...I wont be back & do yourself a favour and avoid this Costa also... :-(

15 minutes in the queue with no apology, exceptionally disinterested server and the Store Manager behind the counter openly questioning why people are coming in ("don't they have homes to go to?")!I strongly suggest that you go elsewhere.

I have been to two other Costa's in Harlow, it was my first visit here and actually I tink it is my favourite, clean and spacious with friendly staff, it wasn't as cramped or as noisy as the other two ice been in recently, it might be because it was early evening but it left a good impression, I had a Black Forest hot chocolate, nice and festive and just the thing to warm me up on a crisp winters evening my friend had a gingerbread and cream latte which came with the cutest little gingerbread man on top, my friend enjoyed it a great deal, it was lovely to sit relax and chat in a comfortable atmosphere, I will absolutely visit here again!

My overall experience with Costa coffee in Harlow has never failed to dissappoint. Not only the fact that The Harlow Town Costa use old beans- probably ungrinded from the night before as well as making a point with the lack of organisation there is out on the floor in busy times. Last time me and my mum have visited the Costa near Cineworld, I'm speechless about the low level of service I have received from the staff as well as the Barista who was making my drink. My sticky toffee latte's were oversweetened and the barista that made my drink added too much cream on top, making the cream flow out of the cup lid. It would've been no problem for me until she used an old- milky steam wand cloth to wipe my lid clean. Wasn't very pleased.

Good coffee and great place to chill out with family n friends on Edinburgh way. Good friendly staff always ready to help now that's a great reason why we often visit this cafe.

This place was lovely and clean on our visit. The manageress was friendly and although she was busy she was happy to chat to us.

There are only 5 reviews for this Costa but this gives a false rating as the only two good ones are actually for the café located in the town centre, this review page is for the Costa in Edinburgh Way (near Cineworld). We had the misfortune to go there early on Monday morning. two out of the three toilets were locked, having looked at previous reviews, this maybe because they were filthy or because they don’t want them to get dirty. We did question the fact that the doors were locked and were told there must be people in there, well they never came out in the 20 minutes or so that we sat there! The air conditioning was making the whole place freezing, we moved three times to try and get away from it. We hoped that our drinks might warm us up but my hot chocolate had a strange taste and my partners vanilla latte was so bad he couldn’t drink it! In addition to this my chocolate twist was stale. Luckily we didn't need the knives provided to eat our cakes as they were filthy! We’ll stick to the Harlow Town Centre Costa in future.

When we visited it was not very busy, there was about 12 other people in the coffee shop, there were plenty free tables (dirty tables). The drinks were nice, and sandwiches okish.However the coffee shop was very dirty! Gruby place, the loos were utterly disgusting! These toilets do not get check. Staff seemed ok, however more intrested in chatting umongst eachother then getting out from behind the counter and cleaning tables. Will not be returning

This Costa is situated in the town centre. It has good seating facilities and washrooms. It is always busy which is a good sign I think. It is about 5 minutes from Harlow college so you do get lots of students there. Nice place to have a coffee after a good afternoons shopping!

I have been a Costa Coffee fan for some years now but a friend of mine arrived from abroad and was staying at a local hotel in Harlow. I visited him quite often and had a chance to try out the Costa Coffee in Harlow town centre. So far I have never wanted to write a review of Costa despite the fact that I have enjoyed many drinks at this place. However, after visiting Costa in Harlow regularly within a 2 week period, I felt a review is a must. The staff is welcoming, the place is very clean, seating is inviting and the drinks, of course, very good indeed. Tried different drinks and enjoyed them all, although an Americano is my favourite. The toilets are also very clean. So, if you want to stop for a coffee to break up your shopping trip etc. do select Costa as you will come out feeling refreshed.

Had a lunchtime business meeting here and it was hard to hear due to all the noise, but it was very busy. The furniture has seen better days, and three small coffees were £8.20, which is ridiculous. Avoid.

Monday 28th July 2014 at approx 12.00 pm a friend and I went to Costa coffee by the Cinema in Harlow and found the outside seating area was filthy. The bins were overflowing and the floor full of litter - we won't mention the ladies toilets - ugh. As we had ordered and paid for our food we stayed and ate it but my friend was sick about 20 mins after we left. I telephone to complain and was told the manager was not there and that they knew there was a problem but they were short staffed.
