Costa Coffee in Stevenage

I went to Costa at the suggestion of the friend that I was meeting. I didn't know what to order, not wanting tea or coffee. In the end we settled on a red berry drink that was blitzed up with ice. It was OK but £4 was a lot for a small cup of it. On the bright side, the chap behind the bar was a great help in finding at least something on their menu that I was prepared to drink. To be honest, the place would probably better suit coffee drinkers, being a coffee shop. I forgot to take a picture, sorry. I imagine that, of you are in the game of going to coffee shops, you know the sort of thing that they are like. This one will probably meet with your expectations - and the toilet that I used was good too.

The only coffee shop in Stevenage I always feel valued and welcome at! Quality staff with the usual good quality coffee! I drive for uber so the parking in front is also very convenient

Good staff, but not enough. Tables weren't cleared or cleaned. Dingy atmosphere inside the restaurant. Nice in the summer to site outside on the council benches if there is space - the only positive. Sorry to be so critical.

Really nice coffee and experience in general. Me and my girlfriend were served by Daniela who answered all our questions, gave us great recommendations and all with a smile! When my girlfriend went to the toilet I asked Daniela, after a small time observing our relationship, if she thought we had a future. Daniela then proceeded to provide me with some of the most earth shattering, ground breaking and enlightening advice I’ve ever received. I proposed to my girlfriend (NOW fiancé) later that day! Daniela is going to officiate our ceremony next June <3 We owe our happiness and future to Daniela and Old Stevanage Costa, thank you!

There three costas one in the new town in Stevenage one in the old town third in the roaring Meg retail park best times are 10am or 130pm 5pm onwards rest of the times it will be busy check on google search and type in costa Stevenage and you see how busy it mite be or not so busy live …. I recommend the services here and there hot chocolate and in the summer I recommend there extra cold milkshakes…

Ordered a large Mocha for collection, got home to find I had an expensive Latte! How on earth can you get that wrong? Of course no answer on the phone and my only recourse is to reacted and stand in a queue which defeats the object of me pre ordering in first place!

I have been to many Costa places but this one was probably the dirtiest coffee shop I have ever visited. The toilet was disgusting and in the same way I could describe the sticky table - especially during this pandemic someone should clean the tables frequently.

I and two of my friends went for a Costa. The staff were polite and the service was quick and the cakes we had were delicious and the hot chocolates were great as well.

Popped in for a quick coffee, queue was up to the door, al, tables full of dirty crockery team standing behind the counter had no idea of what to do and when I finally managed to get a coffee 20 minutes after I found out that was the wrong one! Never ever again!,

Frequently call at the coffee shop and would normally sit inside. On this occasion we had our dog with us so, as the weather was good, we sat outside. The problem is that smokers mainly use the outside seating. The ground under all the tables is covered in old cigarette ends and is quite disgusting. They are an accumulation of several days if not weeks of use. A quick brush up at the end of the working day would go a long way to making the area more attractive.

As you'd expect with a chain, they're all basically the same so you can expect; Not clean - nowhere in there is clean with the toilets a particular hazard. Disinterested staff - I'm sure they're all nice people but they don't seem to be engaged People eeking out a coffee for six hours while they get through the difficult first chapter in the book they've been writing for years Some nice coffee - and tea Idiots ordered iced drinks that makes loads of noise and take ages. Those nice cakes they do

I'll start by saying that I will always visit the Costa on the roaring meg. The staff are lovely. Whereas the old town staff have been very rude in the past. The atmosphere in there is not very nice. The frosting comes in a glass which is definitely not the size you order, they run out of things all the time and I definitely will not be going back there.

I sometimes wonder whether it’s largely people with a gripe that review sometimes because this decent coffee house in the High Street in the Old Town where I live is invariably busy and indeed was on Thursday morning when I was treated to a flat white by my neighbour and friend. I must admit that we generally look out for Caffe Nero as we like their coffee but this was an acceptable cup of coffee although not as hot as I like. My score of four stars is largely for the pleasant ambience in this branch, there’s no rush to get people out despite it being busy and containing those sorts who buy a cup of tea and stay half the day to use the WiFi or hold business meetings. I would get down here more often but I have a wonderful Nespresso machine at home that gives me coffee just as good as most chains.

Every time I go there for takeaway coffee or sandwiches, they charge me for eat in . Even manager charged me few times . That’s Rip-off . So be careful ladies and gentlemen

Visited on a Monday morning just after breakfast with my daughter. It was not that busy and we did not have to wait long to be served. Staff were pleasant and efficient. Both our drinks were nice. We enjoyed sitting watching the world go by outside. Always had a decent coffee and reasonable service here. Far nicer than the one in the town centre.

Pop in most mornings early to get a coffee or Latte and I must say they are very friendly, very helpful and always very polite. Coffee is excellent I have never had a bad experience and people are quick to moan but never to quick to say well done! So well done guys keep up the good work!!

I am a regular Costa goer and I have to be honest this is by far the worst Costa that I’ve been too. The coffee is good, location is good however, the staff there are the most rudest, uninterested, non smiling people I have ever come across in one place. I can honestly say that each time I’ve been in there I feel like I’m intruding! Good job the coffee is far more pleasant than the staff!

Good looking branch of Costa. Definitely have had a few good brews in here! Will always like a Costa over some other chains.

I go there quite often for take away coffee. Service is always really polite and helpful. they also improved with the pace. Coffee they make is definitely costa standard which is great for this location.

Normally it would not bother me BUT I had ordered a medium mocha and to say it was like drinking neat chocolate is an understatement I went back and asked for another.

Generally I've received good service whenever I've visited a Costa Coffee but it's the first time I've been to the one in Stevenage High Street in quite some time.

Popped in 5ish this afternoon....so pretty quiet in terms of customer....stood at the till for 5 mins waiting to be served both of the staff were clearly disengaged or should I say lacked any kind of customer service skills.....its not like both of them were busy serving customers.....to top it off still messed up my simple coffee takeaway order....i had hoped the service had improved...clearly not...Starbucks all the way!!

Old Town Stevenage Costa.Food and drink ok but the decor looks tired and grubby. Of more concern is the state of the toilets; these are clearly given a quick once over rather than being cleaned properly (take a look at the under side of the seat). I advised the woman behind the counter who said with a shrug of her shoulders, that the manager was aware of the state of the toilets but that they "did the best" they can with the cleaning. Unacceptable. This is a multi million pound company which means there is even less excuse to have such poor standards. With the public face of the establishment so clearly neglected, what is the kitchen like? Do the staff use these loos? Dread to think. Won't be going back.

This Costa is outside the range of my normal travels. Last time I was there was quite a few years ago. At that time I was recovering from an accident and still using one crutch. I could easily have managed the tray but there was an immediate offer to take it over to a table for me.

Used to come in here most mornings on my way to work for a coffee.

Stevenage old town is somewhere I enjoy to visit. The parking is free and it has character. Sitting outside Costa Coffee enjoying a chat and a cake with a lovely latte is one of life's luxuries for me and my wife. There are shops, a post office in Waitrose, banks, hairdressers and other places that I like to use here.

Excelente café y sirven, el hotdrinks caliente de chocolate es deliciosa, pero de verdad, pequeñas tiendas de café son mucho más baratos, los precios aquí son muy cuestionables y a veces mucho más de lo que se podría esperar que pagar!

O quizás yo he descubra mejores casas de café. ? Costa fue mi favorito por un largo tiempo, pero fuimos a uno en la calle alta de hoy y la plana blanca no corta. Nero supera sobradamente a pero por desgracia no tenemos en Stevenage.

I love costa it is nice however they DONT SELL ICE CREAM !!!!!!! Apart from that lovely and like to go again

It has recently been very attractively refurbished and the staff are friendly and knowledgable. However, the acoustics do make it very noisy

This is my regular meeting spot for coffee with one of my oldest friends. However, over the last 2 years it seems to have lost its customer service/care and is more focused on 'getting the drinks out' rather than looking after customers. Shame as it used to be a regular haunt .

Meet and chillax with friend family or go by yourself. Can read the paper, or just watch the world go by in the high street. Coffee always great.

We decided we wanted a hot drink and something to eat whilst walking back home. We came across Costa and decided to go in. It was near closing time. Having once worked in retail normally I would not go into a café or shop near closing time. The team seemed happy to be serving us; the fridge was covered and areas of Costa were closed off after being cleaned and the floor mopped. When we bought our drink; the gent taking the orders told us it was take away cups only. Once our drinks came we sat drinking, eating and chatting. Once we had finished instead of lingering we tidied as much as we could, threw the cups in the bin and left.The staff were amazing; all had smiles and working as a team shutting as the coffee house was getting ready to close. Not once did we feel in the way.

Had coffee here this morning - won't be going back!! Full of young Mums with screaming toddlers running round while mum was chatting with her friends or on her phone. Then the coffee machines came into play, couldn't hear ourselves talking. Why are Costa machines so much noisier than other coffee places?

Costa coffee in stevenage is the slowest express coffee in the western world. Must be the management. Gave up waiting on more than one occasion. Over priced and full of mum and toddlers who have time to wait during week day mornings. Better to support independent local coffee houses.

We were so glad when Cost Coffee took over the former Video shop and they have not disappointed. It is always busy and has a buzzing atmosphere. Usual Costa corporate fit out which does the job and is quite stylish. The Barista's tend to make a good cup of coffee and I have not had a bad one yet. I love sitting outside and watching the world go by. The service is pretty good, could be a bit friendlier at times and they could do with cleaning up the dirty dishes a bit quicker but overall I love the place and use it weekly.

Visited a couple of weeks ago it wasn't particularly busy. My husbands sandwich had no filling they forgot mine. Didn't really listen when I went to talk to them. Eventually discovered my sandwich had been left in the grill! Refund was given but again hadn't listened and nearly refunded the incorrect amount. Don't intend to return here there's plenty of better places nearby to choose from.

Very busy coffee shop. Very crowded at times . They never seem to have enough staff to clean tables. Foods is ok if like toasties and cake.

I have been coming here the last 2 weeks and the place is getting worse and worse, grubby seats, TERRIBLE service there is usually no que when I am there but it will take someone ( today the manager!) about 10 minutes to even acknowledge me standing there in front of him whist he counted the tips cup out!!!! No large takeaway cups so had to have China- it was filthy and had to send backLots of people complaining in the Quie behind me Won't bother coming anymore it's gross!!

I like going to this venue, but sometimes the service is a bit slack. Staff often seem under pressure. Could be cleaner and tidier.

have had coffee on several occasions and have found it very busy, sometimes you have to clear the table from the last occupant, but all in all a very comfortable place to be especially outside in the summer, just drinking your coffee or latte and watching the word go by.

Poor service and attitude. No other customers. Three staff. One on telephone, two chatting. Drank my coffee. Asked where the food was. It was still sitting on side waiting to be heated. A chain at its worst.

Comfortable surroundings in keeping with the atmosphere of a historic Old Town, costa products in an above average place to eat, drink and relax. Even small business chats are comfortable with reasonably good parking out front but first come, first served for a popular High St.

I'm not a fan of the taste of Costa Coffee or the terrible acoustics they normally have where the noise of chatter usually means that you can't hear yourself think but have to say that it really wasn't that bad at all, the coffee is still iffy but more than ok if you just fancy a quick 5 mins...

Visit approx 3/4 times per week. Once use to be a popular busy place with pleasant staff that cared for their customers. Now staff are miserable and standards are low. Hygiene poor.

Typical Costa busy seats hard to come by as its always busy down side you always get the people who are working on their computer hogging a table for 4 but sitting on their own, l just sit there if there is no room, staff are great always chat to you and make the coffee to a high standard.

Na een dag werken en slechte oploskoffie drinken is Costa een verademing.Met een goede cappuccino zijn ze een hele goede tegenhanger van die andere koffie keten.Het concept is bijna hetzelfde met dit verschil dat er geen WiFi is.Lang blijven zitten is er daardoor niet bij.De bediening is vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Not the best coffee shop in town, the furniture is past its best, the place is always dirty, other places sell better coffee in better surroundings

I always pop in when in the old town shopping or when my son visits for a lovely coffee and cake. There skinny decaf latte is lovely and the best I have had.

whilst on a recent visit to this coffee house,i was enjoying a coffee,until i saw one of the male staff sticking his finger up his nose on several occasions,while working behind the serving area.handling cutlery and cups etc.... this was where i stopped drinking and sat and watched the rest of the staff,,,not before advising my partner to stop drinking,,, the young staff all seem to be busy doing nothing, apart from chatting to each other,,,following each other like lemmings,,,the more i watched the more dismayed,,young staff did not put themselves out to clear tables,would just walk past tables that had used cups and plates on trays awaiting clearance,, my partner stated that there are only a couple of staff that really work in the store, a curly haired young man with glasses and a middle aged lady with brown semi curly hair.i will not be making a second visit to this coffee shop and ive advised my partner to stop going into this place for coffee,but will be asking the environmental health team to pay them a visit

Noisy and crowded and a bit messy. Just went for a coffee, couldn't wait to leave. I shall not be returning when there are sweet little coffee places elsewhere. So Dissapointed .

Only 8 people sitting down yet a queue of 10 that is not moving. Slow service and warmer than the desert.

It was very busy and felt completely disorganised. Initially sat inside but due to chaos moved outside even tho' it was cool. The noise was incredible for a small cafe. Saw a family with young children struggling to get seated. No help offered. Maybe costas isn't for everybody.It probably is ok when not so busy. Costas is costas.

I'm so pleased we have a Costa in the Old Town, it's long been my favourite of the 'chains', so to have one so close is great.This place is pitched just right, lots of room inside and half a dozen or so tables outside to spend time in the sun (if you're lucky). Of course some people take advantage of a free seat and sit there gassing for a lot longer than they've had their coffee but that's par for the course in Stevenage. If you can get one - people watch or chat to friends while you sip your perfect cappucino or flat white or Americano or.... whatever floats your boat...

Sunday morning read of the papers, coffee and croissant and a relaxing start to the morning, nice......

I go to this coffee shop on a regular basis as it opens early and is handy on the way to work, but I always leave the place feeling frustrated as 90% of the time the service is terrible. Most of the staff look like they would rather be anywhere else but there and also appear to dislike each other too. Coffee and tea is regularly spilled whilst I'm there and on one occasion was partially spilt down me as I waited patiently for my coffee. There is regularly a large queue as although there are two coffee machines they only seem to use one in the morning. I reluctantly have to return to the place, but I would recommend that you avoid it if you are able to.

Ordinary Costa.They try hard and you can pull up to the door in your car and then sit outside and watch the world of Stevenage High Street go by.

Went for a morning coffee with my mum and girlfriend, walked in and had to wait ages to be served and the bloke acted like I was getting in the way of him working.... And this was the finish to my coffee

Unfortunately I can not always get anything gluten Free to eat, especially the wraps as they are popular which is good for the company but not for customers

Met friend for coffee/tea and slice of cake. Service was slow and very very sloppy. It's not the cleanest of places but that said its a typical "chain" coffee shop. It's always busy so very popular.

visited mid morning on wed.25/3/15coffee ok but overpriced, tables not cleared, detritus left on floorNO TOILET PAPER spoke to staff who said they had run out andno delivery for 3DAYS. Despite 2 supermarkets nearby, usualcorporate rubbish that staff not empowerd to walk 20 metresto buy some toilet rolls???NOT ENOUGH STAFF ON DUTY.

Always go in here as I live in the old town. Coffee is always great, the staff are friendly, however very unorganized. Don't acknowledge customers in the que waiting, a few days ago they completely forgot my order and served 6 people behind me in the que first. I appreciate that its busy at times, and the staff are all quite young. But when they are messing about and having a laugh with each other rather than doing their job it becomes a problem, and a breakdown in the system they have starts to occur. They are polite enough, just not great with customers orders/ timing etc.

Some of these establishments are very good some are average. This is an average, for some reason the muffins seem to be quite dry ?? Coffee is always good though, sandwiches and Panini's do seem to be a bit over priced, maybe I am being a bit to picky but when you look at the size of their sandwiches, it is as if they have been reduced in size ??

This Old Town Costa is rightly very busy but this is compensated for by great friendly staff and good coffee..

They serve good coffee in pleasant surroundings. Some people have a cup of coffee last for hours while they have buisiness meetings or sit looking at their laptops.The staff are friendly and hard working.

Always full and horribly noisy with screaming children, queues always long and frequently mess orders up, flies around the food and overpriced.

I have been visiting costa for many years and after this occasion I will never go back. I waited at the till for several minutes waiting to be acknowledged by one of the 5 staff. 1 being the manager. Each person absorbed in their own little task. Cleaning the coffee machine, grills, tables and counting money at the till. The customers were clearly an inconvienience for them and they were rude and obnoxious. Hot choc which cost 2.85 tasted foul too

This is one of the most popular and busy coffee places in Stevenage Old Town. Very friendly service although because of the staff turn round you get the odd coffee that is not always up to par... But they will make another one for you without any questions. It is visited by all sort of people - from the local MP, Councillors, business people and mums with prams. You can sit and read the paper as long as you like without ever being rushed.
