Costa Coffee in Torbay

I overheard the manager name a customer as a heroin addict and to watch out for. None of this is true and would like to know the manager got removed for a more polite respectful and responsible person.

Caught the manager talking dirty behind people's back very unprofessional disgusting behaviour. What a horrible nasty person

Too expensive. Coffee quite strong.

Overworked staff, unable to clean the tables so looked unkempt.

We love Costa the last few weeks we not be able have coffee due to the lift not working

Absolutely appalled by the service I recieved , would give 0 stars if possible . I was greeted with negativity and anger from the staff working here , being asked to leave as soon as I stepped through the door . (As soon as my friend said he was buying something her whole attitude towards our group changed and was a stark comparison to the indescribable hostility we received a few moments prior ) .

This is the worst Costa coffee shop we have ever been in, every table was dirty and full of trays with cups and plates on, there were 2 members of staff, neither of which had any intention of clearing any tables for customers to sit at. We had to clear a table ourselves in order to sit down, as did every other customer who entered and chose to stay, some chose to leave upon seeing the state of the place. Very disappointing!

Never have I been in such a dirty costa every table was full of cups etc.customers werehaving to empty tables themselves so that able to sit.staff was not interested in assisting anybody.

The 2 overworked girls were very pleasant, but didn’t have time to clear any tables. For the 35 minutes l was there today 70% of the tables were cluttered with dirty cups, plates, trays etc

I had the pleasure of popping in here today.... staff was absolutely fabulous.... drinks was lovely and hot... will definitely be visiting again... thank u :)

Charged me £14.40 for one caramel latte what a scam!!!!!!!!

Popped in for a cosy coffee with my family. Long wait at the counter for drinks and then really hard to find a table that had been cleared and cleaned. There were about 4 or 5 comfortable looking seating areas but the rest weren't as nice or comfortable. There are toilets but again they hadn't been attended to.

I want to kick myself as I can’t remember the ladies name but recently I suffered a loss of my dog and went in for a coffee. I was very emotional and she came and served my coffee to the table and kept checking on me. The following week I went back in, she remembered me and asked after me and how I was doing. She is an absolute star and a credit to Costa along with the rest of the team. How they cope with such short staff I have no idea, but come what may, the girls always have a smile on their face and are willing to bend over backwards for you! X

I witnessed the manager completely dis regard a gentleman's complaint about the 20 minutes he was waiting when he also pointed out people jumping the queue they said this was acceptable. The manager looked to belittle the poor man who had his son with him. I'm still in shock seeing what happened. One person serving while the rest was chatting away. Disgusting

Absolutely shocking how that coffee shop is allowed to work under the costa brand makes costa look a shambles. Worst costa in the uk

Hubby had a coffee which was very hot and I had a bubble tea. Sausage baps were very hot too 😋 👍👍

Large coffee & small tea £6.35. Far too expensive nothing more than a blatant rip off. Avoid.

Extremely busy place. Staff extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Plenty of space inside as well as limited outside seating. Extended wait from the doorway but no complaints as it was lunchtime so much food and smoothies were being done.

I love Costa coffees and teas, and I try to go whenever I can and order a cappuccino coffee and drink it in peace. Also, hot sandwiches at lunchtime are a good option as a small lunch. 8th April 2023

I had coffee it was nice but the price was off-putting. I wouldn't go there regularly just now and again.

Me and my friends come in everyday after college and one staff member in particular (nathan) always makes our day, he is kind and funny and clearly loves what he does and he makes the best coffee/hot chocolates.

Just popped in for quick drink after a long drive down to Paignton

I visited this one this summer ( September 1st ) while waiting for my bus to go to Kingswear for a ferry to visit Dartmouth.( I had about 45 to 50 minutes to kill ! ) There was a queue inside w/ about 7, 8 people waiting in the line .I joined 'em to get my vegan smoked ham/ cheese sandwich & hot tea.There were 3 female workers working there. They were all friendly ,but taking too much of time got me nervous if I'd miss my bus !! I am Japanese ( means I got a great patience myself ! )who's from L.A.& saying to myself if this was in L.A.,someone was gonna start complaining to 'em that they were taking way too slow !! Lol. But,you know ...Brits are so good at that !! NO ONE complained ,or made faces !!! Lol.😅 I was impressed / so shocked by that !! Lol.Thank God I made it back to the bus station in time !! If it was another 5 minutes later,I would had missed my bus ! Lol. The sandwich / tea were very good ,btw. I find it better when it's toasted ! ( heated up ) It's still good cold ,I had it before. But,when it's heated up , the vegan cheese melts a little & tastier that way ! So, I recommend others to ask it heated up for 'em ,too ! I really liked Costa & Gregg's in U.K.,btw .!! I don't drink coffee ,but I should had to see ,I was gonna ,forgot !! Lol. I wanted to see if they were much better than Starbucks as other reviews said !? I bet they are !! I really enjoyed visiting a few Costa coffee shops & Gregg's while I was in Wales / England this summer !! To watch how locals were & get the locals vibe in the cities/ towns ! I heard they stopped cream teas ,though !? A bummer !! Or,maybe it was just the particular one at Friars walk, Newport Wales.?? I recommend this shop ,but not if you are in a hurry !!

Lovely staff who seem happy to serve. There is a reasonable amount of seating inside and outside. The entrance and counter gets very crowded when it is busy and service can take a bit of time. Buy a reusable mug and get a free mug of coffee after every 4 purchases.

Busy on arrival, had 6 customers in front. Service sadly was slow due to short staff, so it took almost 20 minutes to be served, as some orders had food as well. Staff were friendly and apologised for the wait. Once served there was a back log of 2 orders before I received my order. If they weren't short staff, I would have given a higher rating.

Normally have a salted Carmel frostine with coffee but this one I have just bought tastes like water.

Service very slow, the 2 ladies behind the counter were more interested in chatting and preparing pick up orders, than actually dealing with the queue at the counter.

Although we have been here many times, I was disappointed, because they were lacking in staff members which meant we had to have our drinks in take away cups which is ok if you pay take away prices but we didn't. Also the toilets needed a clean

Always used to go in this costa as the staff were lovely. Went in there today around 4pm and was shocked by how rude the girl serving was! Very unfriendly when taking our order, then on leaving I took our empties to the counter to save them having to clear it and on asking where she would like me to leave it, she barked, put it on the side! Would understand a little if it was busy but that was not the case. I definitely won't be returning to that shop and will just travel a little further to the new one in paignton where all the staff are lovely.

As Costa coffee shops are all clean and tidy, some i have been in haven't all got to friendly staff, this is one where not only clean and tidy the staff are very friendly and helpful will always have a chat with you 😀 therefore 5 star's to you all.😎😄

First of all I don't leave reviews on websites because society is frequently annoying me. So it's a big deal for me to write something like this. I came into to costa this morning with my mum at stupid a clock and I was grumpy. But after speaking to the 2 Ladies whilst ordering my mood was completely turned around! They really went out if there way to be friendly and their customer service was impeccable! I believe one of them was called Steph but I didn't catch the blonde ladies name (my bad.) But seriously it's so hard for anybody to even say one word in the morning usually, and these 2 had proper enthusiasm in their work. Id never really been in Costa Paignton even though I've lived in Torbay my entire life. Now I will be in there frequently, spending money and that's thanks to these 2. If you have a reward system I'd recommended both of these 2 to win something or just give them the raise because they really have earned it. THANKS YOU LEGENDS VISIT 6TH APRIL 2021

Ive always thought this was the McDonalds of coffee shops, which if it floats your boat may not necessarily be a bad thing. The queue yesterday was poorly managed - not enough staff to service or manage the line. Customers were pushing in. Went to Greggs which is far cheaper and has no queue at all.

Late opening bank up the road from here so popped in to the local Costa as it was cold outside. It's an easy place for a single person to pop in to. I felt at ease here.

This store used to be lovely, and now it has gone down hill. The coffee isn’t as nice and some of the staff don’t come across as welcoming anymore whereas on the other hand, the other costa stores in the bay are a lot nicer than this one. The food is pretty average but I try to avoid this one

Down in Paignton we visited the Paignton Costa as we always do when we are on holiday there. We were not impressed with the way they treated us with their Covid policies. We were made to feel like naughty children. The one assistant was really bossy and out of her depth. Once we had tackled this hinderance we did enjoy our coffees and inside it was fine. Some room for improvement here.

I visited this Costa coffee shop 30th August. Due to covid19 we all understand the need for social distancing especially as my partner who herself is a NURSE and was hospitalised for 2 weeks on Oxygen at the beginning of the out break. But your staff seem to have lost all their manners when dealing with your loyal customers. Instead of political asking you to take a step back they seem it is far better to bark the order as one would when commanding a dog to sit down. I myself am a 60 year old male who was brought up with the words Please and Thank you as part of my every day vocabulary. Alas I am sorry to say these 2 words NO longer exist at this establishment .

19aug 8am - rudest person I've ever had the displeasure of nearly being served by. No idea why they would work in the hospitality industry with such a displeasure for people. Shame because staff ive been served by before in here were so polite and helpful. Luckily we are not short of coffee shops here! Do yourself a favour and go to coffee1 over the road, much nicer!

Ok but must ask for coffee to be extra extra hot or it's only just warm.

The caramel latte was really nice and environment very pleasant. The only criticism I have is that the service was relatively slow considering that the shop wasn’t all that busy.

A lovely little Costa store, not too busy and good Barista here. Well worth a trip to go if looking for a hot drink. Toilets for both disabled/babies and standard toilets too.
