Costa Coffee in Barnsley

I was there yestarday around 2pm,the blonde lady who do the coffe defently need more training. No taste,not any foame,just pay and after put in the bin outside.

I totally agree with all the recent appalling reviews. 2 staff were preparing drinks for drive-through orders. No staff were serving the increasing number of walk-ins. I politely asked a passing female staff member if she would serve me and the now huge queue which had developed behind me. She rudely stated that she was clearing tables only and then muttered something into the headset to her colleagues and eventually my order was taken. I resent being ignored and then spoken to in a very derogatory and patronising manner. Recent reviews are all very similar. We can’t all be wrong! Hopefully someone in authority will read them and address the problems and issues and maybe arrange customer service refresher training for members of staff. I shall not use this outlet again. I’ll take my business elsewhere, where it is valued and appreciated……..

This place is disgusting and dirty.. Service is terrible and slow.. Staff look depressed.. Sunday morning there wasn't a single table that was cleared.. Toilets are dirty. I wonder how often if any they clean the food prep areas? Whoever runs this needs the sack

I agreed with the other bad reviews. Uncleared tables. Dirty surroundings. Toilet out of order. Indifferent staff. Then I heard it had been refurbished, so today I gave it another chance. Sadly it was worse than ever. The stained dirty seating had been renewed. But at least 8 tables were piled with dirty dishes. One girl came slipping out from behind the counter and cleared one table in the half hour I was there . The table she cleared was never wiped. So it still had crumbs and spills on it. One member of staff was serving the drive through window, one serving the counter in the shop. One restocking the fridge and supplies, one in the back “cleaning “. Then the other one standing at the customer side of the counter chatting over to the others who were actually doing something I’m done now. Starbucks is just across the road.

Called for a coffee on 6/1/25 around lunchtime. Went to drive through, soon realised the packed snow had not been cleared. I could not reverse as there was a car behind me. I got stuck for some time, finally getting to the window, I complained to the staff member that the drive through should be shut, as it was dangerous. I was told, quote " We leave it to the customer to decide weather to go through or not. The car park was not cleared either, and got stuck on the second sharp bend. Total disregard for customer safety and their property by Costa.

Sadly the same experience as Sara J with at least 12 tables not cleared..diffident setvice..window ledges grubby..when tables were, finally being cleared, so slow and not wiped..we will not be back..

I come here almost everyday and never leave a review but recently this place as gone down hill it is so dirty the staff are so slow, many times I've been in 3 staff stood around just looking at me and not serving the staff look so miserable. I have noticed when a area manager is in they are clean and staff are more happy but on a normal day they are just so miserable and slow and sometimes you cannot get a table they are just full of pots and food allover. This is by far the dirtiest costa I have visited. Thanks

I want to leave a review for the staff at Costa coffee just off the Dearne valley. My experience is always positive ✨️ Staff are always friendly and make our experience great each time. Danny is always helpful makes a great cappuccino and up for chat. The shop is generally clean with the odd exception when super busy but always somewhere nice to sit. Myself,husband and daughter inc Seb the dog love this Costa coffee. Well done to all staff. Jane.

So slow and the staff just seemed to be faffing around. 4 staff and I waited 10 mins to place my order. Wasn’t v busy either. May try again as it’s local but otherwise we will go elsewhere

The staff are helpful and reasonably friendly so no complaints there. However, Costa should remove their breakfast wrap from the menu, it is absolutely awful and certainly not worth the money. Wouldn’t give this wrap to my dog it’s that bad.

Customer service is not high on the list here. Turned up around 7pm with my elderly mother for coffee and a cake. One guy was cleaning the floor, one guy was serving the drive-through and a young lady was, I think, on her break. We stood at the counter for 10 minutes waiting to at least be acknowledged and maybe for someone to say, 'be with you in a minute or so, why don't you sit down and I'll come over when I am free'. No chance! the guy cleaning just ignored us although he knew we were standing there, the guy serving the drive through turned and saw us when he went to make a coffee, and ignored us, and the young lady on her break came from some room stage left, poured some juice into her flask, grimaced at us, then turned her back and walked away. If this was my business and I had a Greggs, a Starbucks, and a Dunkin' Donuts all within walking distance I would sack all of them. Good coffee is important but atmosphere and service have a greater impact. To see people stood at the counter and completely ignore them is unforgivable in a business like this that relies on the feelgood factor. Suffice to say we left and went to Starbucks. On the way out, the guy serving the drive-through looked at us in amazement. I genuinely don't think he knew why we were leaving. Another reason to get rid! My advice? Give it a miss until they get their act together and some new staff.

called today at 8.30pm. Doors locked . it states on the website that the store closes at 9pm. Not impressed

I called in around 12 today and used the drive through. All I wanted was a large tea and when I asked for it, the response I got back through the speaker was "You do know this is a coffee shop?" I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and presume it was an attempt at humour/banter but I found myself justifying why I wanted a tea, until the voice responded "Well go on then." When I got to the service window, the gent continued with more of the same. Told me I could have what I wanted but couldn't understand why people would come to a coffee shop and order tea. I found myself feeling I needed to defend my tea choice again. I responded outwardly with an attempt at 'banter' but felt pretty uncomfortable. While I shouldn't have to offer an explanation as to why I was trying to buy something from the menu, in this case I will and maybe something can be learnt from it. If I'm calling at Costa for a cup of tea, there is a high probability that my day has been chaotic to the degree I haven't had the time to make one for myself. Today was one of those days. I had just left a funeral directors having paid respects to my deceased relative. With an hour of driving in front of me, miserable weather and knowing I had a heavy afternoon trying to help a friend suffering with their mental health, call me British, but I wanted a cup of tea to make things feel better. That I'm still mulling this over hours later probably indicates how much better it made me feel. Maybe a heavy day has made me overly sensitive. As I said, I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt and presume it was an attempt at banter and not an inherent hatred of tea but either way, I'll certainly think twice about calling in again if I'm expected to justify my selection from the menu.

Had a business meeting and opted for this newly opened branch. First impressions were good though the service was slow. I ordered an Earl Grry tea and when the young man finally got round to making my brew he filled the tea pot to almost over flowing I requested him to pour some out as it would spill over carrying it to which he grunted an inaudible reply. I then found an un used table and settled down when I noticed loads of stains on the surface obviously not cleaned and sanitised from the previous occupant. Not wanting to make a fuss I asked for some serviettes to wipe my table thinking they would clean it properly but no I was grandad two tiny serviettes and did it myself. This is not the usual standard for Costa coffee

Having visited a few times before, today really ranked low in terms of efficiency. Despite there being multiple staff behind the counter, it took an exceedingly long time to get drinks made. I'd ordered a hot sandwich, and that came but then the drink was so long in coming, the food was chilling, by the time it arrived. We ate, and then I went to order another drink. Again, the wait time was extremely long. The staff were very slow in making the drinks, and also I observed that other customers had ordered, and their drinks were not correct, ie missing cream/cream when wasn't asked for/wrong syrup. Observed that when a customer pointed out their drink was missing something, the server simply said oh sorry, I can't amend that. Glad I wasn't in a hurry, today!

Just off j36 this gem fills the void and the necessity to pull into busy service stations. Service is brill, food and drink excellent,
