Costa Coffee in Newport

Overpriced for what tasted like burnt coffee.

We were just at Costa Coffee to grab a coffee, and three wonderful ladies served us. They were very upbeat, friendly and full of smiles, which is rare. The atmosphere was brilliant. Thank you for the great experience, they've made our day!

Costa coffee house is a place that you can relax in and have a coffee. There is a Costa Coffee house on the A48 Langstone which has a very pleasant atmosphere. Also in Spytty Newport .

Not my favourite coffee shop in the area but it still does the job.

Where ever you are and costa are, you can expect consistency on the whole.Staff are very good and act professionally the food looks good and the coffee second to none. But there's always a but as a rule! That is it's cost for these items, and the fact they have a very poor loyalty platform....collect beans is dated and not very generous for the loyalty of frequent users. They need to look at the likes of the Greggs franchise and learn a little from it...but that is constructive criticism.👍

Tables need clearing and toilets need attention

Went in for breakfast roll and some toast with a little one. Have previously visited this Costa on numerous occasions when the staff were friendly, the food good and the place clean. Have now been a few times over the last couple of years and sad to say the Manager is consistently miserable, the hot breakfast roll was refrigerated in the middle. The establishment Is also being maintained in an unsafe way with cables left hanging down from the ceiling. Sad to say even though this is my nearest Costa I will be reluctant to visit it again and instead use the Costa on Usk Way where the staff are much more welcoming and the food consistently of a good quality.

Floor and table filthy. 2 staff serving at 12 noon! Seats looked comfortable but had not cushion left in the so were obviously cheap standard to start with. Disappointed.

The assistant that served us was lovely. Very friendly and a good sense of humour.

1st time visit to this location, impressive furnishing with a relaxed atmosphere &warm. Seating with sofas or chairs with cushions. We chose Hot chocolate & Latte - both being very good.

Good coffee gone a bit expensive now so ideal for a treat 👌

As I was queuing, I noticed how filthy behind the counter looked. I made my order and saw this white blob on the customer side of the counter. I poked it, and it was chewing gum. On the counter flattened. I used a paper towel and scraped it up, and gave it to the women behind the counter. Then my coffee was ready and I couldn't believe the girl skid my tray through a puddle of coffee on the counter, under my tray was soaked I asked her for paper towel to clean it up before I moved, and it went all over me. She cleaned the side and wasn't going to bother with my tray until I asked. Bad enough that she wiped the nozzle they used to heat the milk with a green cloth that looked blacked from dirt. I drank my coffee as it cost me £4 but never again.

Decided to grab a coffee whilst on way to work, but instead of grabbing one from the Magor Services drive through I purchased one from Newport Spytty. Definitely a decision I regret. Although the staff were polite, the Mocha I received was weak, not creamy basically a flat white. They need to take lessons from the Magor Costa Drive Through as the Mocha they provide is first class. I will not purchase anything from Costa Newport Spytty again as the drink was sub standard to say the least. My recommendation is to go to Magor instead

Got an iced coffee today, and the girl saw a bee and just put it on her hand and carried it out! So lovely to see a beautitul gesture like that when it was so busy!! Would recommend drinks too, delicious!

This company is going all out cutting costs and boosting margin. £5 (FIVE BRITISH POUNDS!!) for a toastie. £3.80 for a coffee with non dairy milk (which they have just changed again, for some unknown reason, but almost certainly to do with cost) You now need to buy 10 coffees for your free one, previously it was 8, very generous. Profiteering on an epic scale from literally one of the biggest companies in the world. The staff aren't benefiting from all these measures either, it's still minimum wage to stand on your feet all day, serving rude customers overpriced buckets of milk, and I wonder why there are never any staff there... hmm. The outlet closest to me often doesn't even open as they don't have enough staff! When they are open, they have no food in stock, which you would have thought would be priority number one at such crazy margins.

Prefect little retail park with most of the big retailers, great food warehouse and large ASDA living shop. Added bonus of funky monkey soft play in Tesco with a large cafe just outside

Nice coffee shop but Costa now Charge £3.90 for a large latte which is getting silly.

Not clean at all, poorly trained staff. Last few visits always something wrong with orders. Suggest they put couple coffe machines there, they'll have more happy customers.

I arrived at 8.40 am. The floor was dirty and the ledge around the window was filthy. Not a nice place to sit and have coffee and food. Ive never known it to be so dirty. Come on costa get your act together. I took some photos as proof and that was just the area I was sat in.

Everything closed or broken. Although it was a Friday afternoon, the dishwasher was broken? as was one toilet? and the comfy area sectioned off? Very suspect if you ask me!

Manager really needs to get on top of running this outlet, 24 minute wait, had already paid otherwise would have left...queue backed up to the pavement, flies crawling over uncovered bakewell tarts, staff unconcerned...barrista seemed bit clueless couldn't read my order receipt...seemed to have no idea of what she was doing, with 2 speeds...slow and stop...eventually sat down to find we had lukewarm cappuccinos, queue still out through the door otherwise we'd have complained, but no time to go through that again, Nero coffee next time. One star only because zero is not an option

Always waiting in a que for ages to get served

A decent Costa with disabled parking outside. The place has had a makeover since my last visit with new decor, seating and a new screened entrance to reduce the wind flow into the queuing area. Good deals as you’d expect with a cheap £2 breakfast option. Good service as you’d generally expect from costa and tasty food. Coffee excellent as always.

Friendly and nice atmosphere when visiting this morning.

My go to is always Starbucks and Caffe Nero, but I thought I’d give Costa a try just out of curiosity. I ordered a cappuccino with caramel syrup. Was told they only had sugar free syrups so I decided to go without and just put the sugar packets in instead. It honestly tasted like someone went into their garden, dug up some mud and mixed it into hot water with cheap instant coffee. It was a cup of sadness. I even tried putting in my own caramel syrup when I got home and it made it a tiny bit more bearable at least but not even caramel would save it completely :( so disappointed

So i visted on the 24th of January this year and well considering we're still in covid times right now. The place was dirty and a bit of a mess, almost slipped on the floor trying to dodge a toddler. Worst part of it all, because of the place i caught covid!! Absolutely livid!

Great coffee and service but could do with putting the heating on when it's 4° outside. Shouldn't have to sit in my coat and scarf while my coffee goes cold in minutes.

My wife and I normally enjoy our Costa coffee visits. Although today’s visit was not up to what we would normally expect. The service was poor, I was over charged at the till. When I pointed this out and requested a refund, it all seemed an inconvenience. The latte’s we had were only just hot! I was so glad we did not opt for a snack. Overall I just felt that the team were just going through the motions and were not interested in what they were doing. Which is a shame, as we have been to some Costa coffee outlets where the staff are really friendly and it’s clear they really enjoy what they are doing, which shows with the coffee being prepared. Even the toilet facilities were without soap in the dispenser and untidy, given the current pandemic crisis it’s really disappointing. We have decided to avoid this Costa coffee outlet in future.

Terrible Experience! I visited this Costa recently and have to say it is the dirtiest coffee shop I have ever been inside. I cannot believe that the management & local council can accept this standard. Especially due to the current pandemic. The sanitary bins were overflowing, every surface inside the building was covered in food/spilt drinks etc. The children's high chairs were so badly covered in food etc that we could not use them. Incidentally if anyone from the council/Costa does read this you need to know that all of the highchairs are dangerous. We tried 4 different chairs and all of them have loose bolts and are unsuitable for use. A child will get hurt if this is not rectified immediately. The whole experience just goes to show that multi million pound companies like Costa do not care about the welfare of their customers and the councils that operate in the area are just as bad.

Love Costa never been to this shop before long que not enough staff ran out of many things and no food,ok covid pings, hot day, 1500hrs in afternoon ill let it slide,but not impressed same estate has a Niro if you really need to use here click and collect was alot faster,not going to add pictures but if Costa read this blue paper on the floor soaking up water and piles of rubbish swept into the corner takes 5mins to sort nuff said

Gone down hill these past few years, small or medium cold drinks only during peak of summer, reduction in food choice? No nhs app only Costa app, unlike English stores which have both, and then the pointless ID checks make the experience quite annoying. Only caveat is these issues might be a Costa Wales issue rather than specific to branch.

Although I really enjoy a few of Costa’s speciality drinks namely one of their Frappuccino’s and also their chai tea latte which is better than any of their competitors, I really dislike this particular coffee shop. This Costa lacks atmosphere and I would only ever come here for a take away rather than sit in. The cakes are usually fairly dry and bland compared to other coffee chains. When I’m in this area of Newport I would always visit Nero instead.

Covid regulations in there way too completed when all I wanted was a coffee! Totally abandoned NHS track and trace and need to show ID!!! Over price rubbish coffee too.

Really disappointed to see the staff are more concerned about people having the app for a 50p coffee rather than enforcing the social distancing! We've only just gathered some normality back in Wales people, come on...

Coffee is very poor, lacks flavour or substance. Hot chocolates are excellent, friendly and efficient staff.

"would you like to try our stronger tasting coffee"? When I said "yes please" I was charged another 50p and didn't see different beans used. In future preface your question with "For 50p EXTRA would you...". I felt ripped off
