There are two Costa Coffees at Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre (one inside and one outside). This is a review of the one outside as it was the first one we saw after parking the car. It it a light, airy establishment with friendly, helpful staff. There is seating both inside and outside and the tables were cleared as soon as the customers had left. The usual Costa drinks and snacks were available and our coffee was up to the usual good Costa standard.

Went for a hot chocolate with a family member- 2 members of staff were rude to both of us on separate occasions. Staff seemed stuck up and had no good customer service skills.

They were very busy and some of the tables had not been cleared. There were bits of food on the floor as well as other litter. The coffee was very good, but the surroundings left much to be desired.

Its a Costa and being such its is fairly consistent in its service and menu, that being said it is always popular with long queues

We were early so decided to get a coffee, ended up with a latte strawberry and mango passion fruit coolers all very nice. Would have been 5 stars but the place was a total mess, not their fault that so many people left all their crap on the floor, except only 2 girls serving

Nice coffee but needed more staff. Only one person making coffee, long queue to order then a long wait for coffee. Nice when we got it.

Often have a cuppa and bite to eat as part of shopping trip. Use the Costa inside the shops ( there’s another in food complex outside). Always found staff helpful and the Costa points system is good - get free cuppa every so often.

Inside the Mall. The staff were very busy, but it didn’t stop them from being jolly & attentive. No complaints anywhere. The queue kept moving along with tables being kept clear. Good food & drinks. Excellent team work.

Used to go their regularly with other breastfeeding mums, and the staff were always very friendly and accommodating. The food and drinks are very tasty, although a bit expensive. Would recommend.

Even though they were very busy the staff still were warm, polite and attentive. I enjoyed a hot chocolate that tasted wonderful. The tables were clean and the floor well swept.

There are two Costa Coffee shops at the Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre - this one is inside the mall along concourse from main entrance (other is outside in restaurant area). It wasn’t busy on the afternoon we visited and there were plenty of seats available (plus another area opposite for when it does get busy). Snack/pastry selection is what you expect and drinks are to the standard formula. Staff worked well as a team behind counter but tables took a while to get cleared and cleaned.

Pier 5 is a truly great spot for a relaxed evening out. Located right by the river in Chatham Maritime, it boasts a fantastic feel-good atmosphere. The extensive drinks menu is a real highlight, offering everything from proper real ales and a great selection of lagers to a wide variety of whiskeys, gins, and much more. Whether you're after a classic pint or something a little stronger, they've got you covered. My recent evening there was fantastic. Enjoying a good drink and some delicious food while watching the river flow by was a real treat. The view across the River Medway is a definite plus. One thing that really stood out was how comfortable the outdoor seating area is, even when the evening gets cooler. They've thoughtfully provided plenty of heaters, making it a warm and inviting space to relax late into the night. When it comes to food, you absolutely have to try their loaded fries. The "mucky" options are particularly amazing – I highly recommend the Mucky Swine loaded fries with spiced fries, crispy streaky bacon, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, house burger sauce, and BBQ sauce. They also do a Messy Cow version with beef chilli and jalapeños which sounds equally tempting! The portions here are generous, especially the chicken wings. You can get a 0.25 kilo portion or go all out with a 0.5 kilo or a 1 kilo shareable (or not!) amount. They're tossed in a secret recipe house blend seasoning, and you can choose your preferred sauces If you're looking for a relaxed and enjoyable evening in Chatham with great food, a huge drinks selection, and a lovely riverside setting, Pier 5 is definitely worth a visit. The added bonus of ample outdoor heaters makes it a comfortable choice even on cooler nights. Just make sure you try those incredible loaded fries and the generous chicken wings!

Great example of a proper British pub. Darts, pool, live bands and real ales. There’s even a big friendly dog that will certainly let you stroke him. Great place to come with kids or on a Sunday, the atmosphere is unmatched. Mind ye head, the ceiling can be low in spots.

Sadly despite Costa’s recent change of dog policy, They would not allow me in with my dog, so no coffee for me. This is the only early morning coffee spot in the town centre, which is also a tourist trap, and not allowing dogs seems very short sighted. Many solo travellers don't want to tie their dog up outside, so will avoid completely. Very dissapointed.
