The food here is lovely and so was the atmosphere

Don't bother. There are lots of nice individual non chain coffee shops in Rochester that are far nicer. Deaf cat coffee shop up the road is far nicer and even has iced drinks and milkshakes.

Visited in June and I got a slice of carrot cake and a Thai chicken wrap. The iced caramel latte was very good, but the rest of the items were just alright

Staff are friendly. However they are not very attentive to there customers and often get confused which customer is having what drink. I did not realise animals where allowed inside as while I was having my coffee I witnessed a customer bring a large dog in while she placed and collected her order. One of the staff members even leaned over the counter to stroke the dog and did not appear to wash her hands she just carried on serving customers. I was shocked by this lack of hygiene in a food establishment and will not visit here again.

The staff here are extra friendly and helpful. After ordering we were told to take a seat and our drinks were brought to us. This is not the first time so definitely worth a mention.

Still the busiest on the street even with all the competition.

Wifi sucks in here; not the best place to study. Food and coffee is okay though

Nice staff but sadly the Caramel Frappes were not great. Too much ice. Bloody expensive at £5 too! Also a nice window view with a fab vista of the high street totally ruined by a signage display.

Very busy, staff very busy, drinks were horrible, cakes were dry. It's very rushed in there. Alright to pop in and grab a drink but not to sit and enjoy. Hot Milkshakes are horrible don't waste your money.

I have been using this Costa for nearly 2 years. The Bad:😡 Sooo expensive that I only go once a week as a treat. Last year a flat white went up by around 65p. Really!!!!!!!! Starting to look a little tired.. The Good:😀 Very good friendly staff that work hard in what is effectively a tourist hot-spot. I tend to use early in the morning to avoid the Q. Jade, Naomi and all of the staff are efficient and however busy have a warm welcome and a smile. What I do notice is the staff have a good bond and energy with each other and that can be rare these days. Always a pleasant experience. Keep up the great work

I did come here with my family for hot chocolate and cakes but I was refused payment as I had only £50 note but total bill was almost £30. I wasn't too happy to use my credit card but I had to do so. When I enquired about reason I was told "there are signs everywhere not my problem you didn't see them" So once I paid I did inspect all inside and outside signs and there was not 1 saying a word about £50 notes. So I asked serving staff member to point me out one and she went behind the till and and got one hidden behind the till. That was not visible unless taken out from where it was. Hot chocolates where room temperature as weel had to ask for preplacement So service was very bad and quality of food was also bad. Then a random man did come and did spill all our children drink as he for no reason moved away for 6ft their table I did inform staff about and did come over with my youngest boy in tears but they answered all we can do is just apologise without offering a new drink to this child in tears. Definitely not coming back.

Good customer service. Clean and tidy with plenty of available seats. However, this branch of costa was charging me 50p more of the same thing I bought at my local branch ??

It's a Costa and so has the good and drinks you might expect. Service is good. I just wish they'd sort out their fruit fly problem - I'd never buy any unwrapped food here.

It's so expensive just for a treat even Bacon bap prices can be put towards a proper family meal. I.e shepherd's pie Bolognese, plus pasta and that's just for the cost of one (1) Bacon bap Ludicrous No wonder folk are cooking homemade food

Reliable coffee place. WiFi asks for a lot of personal data to logon to it which is a shame.

Dirty loos and always run out of cups even within a few minutes of opening. Update for December 2023....had SO been looking forward to my first costa Christmas hot chocolate of the year. Three purchased by our group today and omg they were all truly awful. Far too much flavouring added to every one so all were disgustingly strong flavoured and the mint one tasted like neat toothpaste. Has put me off costa festive drinks forever unfortunately!

We come here most days for coffee, sometimes cake, or even lunch. Always a relaxed atmosphere and comfy chairs.

I came to drink some hot chocolate and write some estimates. The internet was not working. The place was buzzing with happy customers that were enjoying themselves. I was not. I was in a bad way but I needed a quiet area and the down stairs is ok.

I had a bit of an accident where I managed to knock my latte over my colleague. The staff were so very quick to react, bringing blue roll and cloths to tidy my colleague and clear up the mess. They also replaced my drink and lemon tart, which got covered too, free of charge. Thank you, from a very embarrassed and mortified customer. (I was very concerned for my colleague in case she was burnt from the hot coffee - thankfully, she wasn't.)

It's fine and we use it about 1 in 3 when we go to Rochester which is often but there are better cafes than this and if we can get a seat at the Cheese Cafe we go there.

We had Café Chicken Caesar Salad Roll Popcorn Frappé & Light Whip X 2. Mine was nice but my colleague's tasted a little weird unfortunately.

Wobbly table cause half of the coffee poured

The girls don’t bother to clean the tables and when we asked them to they simply came over and took away last customers tray and then said she cleaned it..the table still covered in filth! When we asked them to wipe for us..she took ages while we stood there with tray in hand. They are being very rude by laughing at customers! These girls are simply intimidating and humiliating customers! Pathetic staff!

Good service, well staffed, so not waiting long to be served or receive our items. Tables were clean and it was relaxed.

No food just coffee which was very weak

So we love Costa and come to get drinks here quite often. We visited this Costa shop and we are very disappointed. Upstairs was quite full no spaces to sit so we came downstairs it was lovely as no one was here but then the Internet isn't working at all and the radio is super loud we can't even have a conversation with each other as it's so loud. We went upstairs to ask if they can reduce the volume and we were told NO! There is nothing we can do about it. 🤷🏻‍♀️👎🏼 We won't be coming here again I guess! 😒

Went in to costa this afternoon, wasn’t greeted well by gemma & she seemed as if she didn’t want to be there. Even when we received our drink, no smile or interest. The drink was great, shame with the service we received.

No vegan food options again today, and for the babycinno was too hot for a child to drink. Staff quickly fixed the drink. Been coming here regularly for ages, and probably the first time I was disappointed.

This was the first time we visited the Costa in Rochester High Street. The staff were very helpful and polite. It was clean. We were not rushed out of the door on finishing our drinks. Unlike some places we have visited. We will certainly be visiting here regularly

Friendly staff, delicious coffee very pleasant vibe.

4 stars for subsuming some of the local run coffee shops and running them out of business with chain run bitter coffee that's darkly roasted to the point of being burned so that it can stay on the shelves longer without going stale. The staff are lovely, but I don't like the big chain like that taking over the high street and undercutting shops run by my friends while selling an inferior product.

Classic Costa. Good value, nice seats, nice location, and recommended the chocolate Toffin if you like chocolate and shortbread. 👌

We popped in for a quick coffee and a catch up with our daughter and granddaughters who live just off the high street in Rochester. We only had drinks, but the food selection looked ok, they had what you would expect from a well run Costa.

Never have food suitable for gluten free. I did ask the barista but it was "no"

Popped in today for a quick coffee and snack while passing through. The latte and toasty was good. The shop is big with seating downstairs. It was fairly busy but the staff managed to work through the queues fairly quickly. Maybe not the happiest in the world though but I would return.

When we visited around 4pm, there wasn't much left to choose from cake wise. My daughter had her free slice of cake to use as her birthday treat on Costa rewards app. Unfortunately there was only 3 cakes to choose from! The new maple syrup muffin and syrups for drinks they didn't have either.

Served by the manager Naomi. Paid for 2 Coffees. Too hot to hold outside. Asked for a sleeve, they didn’t have. They wouldn’t give me a 2nd cup to make it easier to hold as we had a baby pram. They said they would lose their jobs. Naomi was happy to continue arguing and refusing to help by offering a 2nd cup. Instead they refunded me. Went to the cheeseroom and got good coffee there.

The delightful view across to the North Gate and down the beautiful high street has been ruined by an unnecessary and ugly corporate advertising screen recently mounted in the shop window. Disregarding local aesthetics, degrading visitors and locals experience. Corporate product placement, advertising and profit has been put before consideration of the local environment. Please would you kindly have it removed.

Always friendly: Jade and her crew are welcoming and pleasant: the good is delicious and freshly served. Stocking M & S food was a good idea, too.

Coffee great as always. The lady serving was rude, blunt and uncaring. More like a food server at a prison! It maybe a busy day but as caterer I can tell you there is NEVER an excuse to speak to your customers like that.

People moaned when Costa came to Rochester, 'What about the small, independent, family-run coffee shops!?' but they're open before and close later than the aforementioned boutiques, and you absolutely know what you're getting. Viva Costa!

Friendly staff, quick service, absolutely no complaints

Staff not aware what their equivalent of a frappe is (thought it was iced coffe) and got attitude when asked for more milk when two large americanos were ordered with only one tiny milk provided. Lets the usual standard of Costa franchises down.

I went for a quiet coffee instead. I had the floor and the table vibrating all the time. I did tell the staff they said it's the air conditioning system. I will not be going back.

Whilst there are such a lot of independant cafes serving coffee in this interesting town why wouldn't a Costa fit in, or Greggs for that matter, my point is for something that you recognise you will expect a gold star service, and here it needs an upgrade.

The staff here make this more than just a typical Costa. Very efficient and helpful and they even remember your regular order! Quite a lot of seating, good choice of food and drink and toilets downstairs.

The staff in this Costa is very rude and arrogant. Will never go there again and will not recommend this place. There is many other coffee shops in Rochester high street with nice coffee and friendly service. The management should more careful and check who they are hiring.
