Costa in Thanet

Its 18:00, Thursday night, so it is two hours until closing. All the chairs are on the table for floor mopping and drinks purposely are served in takeaway cups for all eat-in customers. Not welcoming atmosphere. Cannot wait to finish??

it’s 7:13 and the closing times 8pm - doors closed and locked and cashier not opening up. Utterly ridiculous!

The guy at counter looked like he was falling asleep while talking and apparently no iced drinks because they have no ice. This has been literally a month since their iced machine broke. Completely useless and won't bother visit again.

Had a break in between delivering sessions so thought I’d crack on with some work and thought I’d pop by to a nearby coffee place. Service was good to be fair and I was ready to go but the drink I ordered may have been made over excitedly as some of the contents was dripping out of the glass. Still, it was much needed fuel to crack on with some data. I’d pop back in!

Visited today to have two toasted sandwiches and a cappuccino and latte. There were no clear tables and dirty trays and food everywhere. I had to remove the last person's mess before sitting down. I was informed there was no clean cutlery and I am not surprised as it was all sprawled across dirty tables. Once we sat down to enjoy our food and drinks the cappuccino had a large layer of froth and then when my husband got to the drinkable part, the syrup was so strong he could not drink it. I said I would tell the staff but was then informed that half the drink had gone so he was not prepared to give us a drinkable cappuccino - and certainly, half had not gone but it certainly was undrinkable. During his explanation, the member of staff I spoke to was pointing his finger at me. Worst £17 breakfast ever.

Post lunch tea and cakes from this comfy Costa. Two large cake slices, bottled water and a cup of tea. Service a little slow, comfy chairs, and as always the quality of the products was acceptable.

Got served by Chelsea. What an absolute asset to the team. I'd employ her if I had a coffee shop! My hot chocolate was stunning!

Visited at 1630 today. Waited over 20 minutes to get 2 drinks ! Staff clearly cleaning up ready to go home and the one person making drinks concentrating on the drive Thru. Drinks were also not to Costa specification. Don't waste your time or your money, go elsewhere

No welcome, no where to sit and where you could they were dirty! Walked out ! I’ll never go back! A bad experience all round

Having waited for the breakfast wrap (10 minutes) It was not cooked, also the large coffee was half full. Basically a rip off.

Being a coffee lover i will not be using this service ever again. Motorway service drive through. My mistake was not to carry on driving through ! Terrible coffee and expensive !

I always used to be served by Jon (who is still there and the only good asset to the team) and a blonde girl who I dont believe is still there. There service used to be incredible and always took the time to have a chat with me and good top quality drinks. Now there is a young girl called hannah who normally serves me and is the rudiest young girl I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. She always makes out that she cant hear me at the order point and whenever I get to the window I'm ignored with her talking to her fellow colleagues. I have been served by a different girl I believe Chloe? Or a few occasions who is a lovely young girl but I will not go back here purely on the basis of the other girl. The manager though I have to say is always lovely to me

The customer service firstly I would like to say was very good. However the product and drinks where vile and I love Costa coffee and have it all the time as my treat. Today they got our order completely wrong the first time round by missing the cream of my mocha and the milk from the Americano, they also put Belgium chocolate pieces ?! Into the bottom of the mocha which made the chocolate bitter as they are not designed to be used in the drinks this way they are for a different style of hot chocolate and have to melted to be used in the drink. Then on the re make the mocha looked like it had half a cup missing and some greasy melted butter on top?!?! And the Americano wasn’t very nice we tried the new blend Aswel the drinks ended up in the bin I went home and used our home coffee machine to Make myself the perfect mocha. Really disappointed. I aways get a mocha with cream this was unbelievable please see my picture for an example of the buttery greasey cream less half cup mocha. Won’t be using the drive thru again. Shame.

I’m a costa fan and I visit costa 2 or 3 times a week. I asked for a frostino, it was awful, tastes of nothing. I asked for another one, they just had some left in their blender from another order, just topped it up with milk, blended and gave it to me, so watery!! What kind of a service is this!! Flavourless drinks!!!

Used the drive threw at Westwood costa coffee today around 3.30-4 ish and was served by what I must say the best team who were so friendly and bubbly from start to finish. Thank you for making a delicious hot chocolate and latte and the mince pies were delicious. I hope next time I use the drive threw again I am served by you lady’s it’s nice to be served by such lovely people who took time to speak to us I can imagine they would of had a busy day. Keep up the good work. We definitely left with a smile

We’ve made multiple orders by Uber Eats and on three occasions less than half of the order has turned up with no contact of possible substitutions, nor explanation.On the last time visiting the actual store, I queued for 10 minutes before being told they were only taking cash...no card payments.The Costa store 200 meters away in the actual Westwood Cross centre appears to be a much better option.

At 6.45pm this evening I visited the drive thru at Westwood Cross. There were two cars down towards the window and I waited for a few minutes by the ordering point. The three young women assistants in the window were in conversation and I don’t think they saw me. I thought that the ordering point must be out of use so I proceeded down behind the one car that was there at that time. I apologised and said I think the ordering machine isn’t working. The young lady serving at the window said ‘I should tell you to drive around again but on this occasion I won’t. I proceeded to order 1 gingerbread latte and 1 frostino. I was told that the ice machine wasn’t working so I asked for another gingerbread latte. This seemed to irritate the young lady making the drinks (Charlotte?) and she said to the lady serving me ^she’ll have to drive round again’, then she changed her mind and said ‘she can wait in the lay-by. I proceeded to wait in the lay-by for about 5 minutes or so. The lady who made the drinks came out to me with 1 drink. I said that I had ordered and paid for 2. She then turned angry and shouted at me something about not ordering at the window because of the pandemic. I pointed out that the attitude she was taking with me was rude. Her response was to shout abusive language at me. I said that I would like a refund and she said ‘well you’ll have to drive round again’ and stormed off. I am absolutely disgusted at the offensive language used and the terrible standard of service. So ,no drink and a staff member shouting abuse at me. I have been a customer at this branch for a long time and never have I had an experience like this. Indeed, never have I had a staff member from any company shout offensive language at me. I am utterly appalled and would not recommend this coffee shop to anyone. I will be taking this further.

Yet again dirty tables only take away cups again !! always have problems with their dish washer.i know equipment fails but honestly as often as it does there?? !! Gone from being the best costa around to the worse ..

Visited here and were told only a drive thru or order on the app. My daughter tried to order on the app and gave up, four staff talking at the front, all tables blocked off even though no customers there, useless, won't visit again. They could have offered to take our order, really bad customer service.

Visited this evening at half 7 to find half the chairs on the tables and sections shut off. Then 2 Barista's continued to walk past me at the till and not acknowledge me even just to say they would be with me in a minute, until I got annoyed and said some acknowledgement would be nice. Defiently don't feel like a valued customer

Went in for a coffee and bacon roll, sat down my table was really dirty with crumbs all over it, there were tables with trays and dirty cups not cleared up, the floor was filthy and needed a good clean I saw that they were or have had work done but that doesn’t excuse dirtiness, the bacon roll was nice and the coffee was good but the place could do with a deep clean

Sat morning so naturally busy and lots of staff but only one manning coffee for people in the shop. Too slow. Toasted sandwich arrived nearly 5 minutes before coffee. All up to standard as far as quality but just too slow in the service side.

The coffee is usually very good here, standard Costa coffee but today it wasnt. Flavourless considering the extra shot to a mocha, and lumps of chocolate powder that haven't dissolved. Also the actual service of staff and how they attend to the premises is abysmal. The tables are all dirty. I asked 3 members of staff for a damp cloth to wipe the table and not one failed to provide me with one or came and did their actual job of cleaning it! One of the ladies was much more concerned with chatting to her friends. My partner got very slow service and he was the only person stood at the counter. We had a similar experience here a couple of weeks ago. The place is run by ten year olds and could do with a manager that actually runs a tight ship. Shame for Costa this one is letting its name down.

Had stop at 23rd July. Was served by really nice blondg irl at drive in. Staff seems was busy but still managed to bring amazing customer service.

Went in for Coffee, staff friendly, had to ask for another tray when my order was coming up as it was wet, nice guy immediately changed it. Job finding empty table that had not been cleared, and it wasn't that busy inside. Plus side Coffee was great!

My daughter and I had a panini and coffee in her. Good service smiley face. What I would change is the dirty tables. When one is busy the other person should be cleaning ready for the next customer’s.

My partner and I wanted a hot drink so we thought costa would be a good place to go. However, the staff there are rude and had bad attitude. Ruined our experience, no please or thank yous. Will not be returning here again!

Went there for a catch up with friends...however what we got was staff putting chairs on tables from7.30pm although open till 10pm?!!! Not a very welcoming feel! Air con was put on full so was freezing....get the feeling they didn’t want customers?!! Also left and my cloths and hair stank of cigarettes?! WTF IS THAT ABOUT? Costa sort it out....will never go back there again. Just awful!!!!

Very quick service by efficient and friendly staff. Only problem was there was not enough room for all the customers.

When we visited it was busy,but considering all this they served us quite quickly. The coffee was excellent,I had the Cortado,and strong short coffee with much less milk than is normal. The seats are a mix of styles,but are very comfy.Will definitely use again.

Last August when we visited Broadstairs, we took a short Break at Costa Coffee. The Coffee tasted very good and the Carot Cake was delicious. The Staff were friendly.

A regular Costa made excellent by the very friendly smiling staff. They served you like they really enjoyed their job.

I try to avoid dairy where I can so I love that costa offer a variety of milks. I especially love the coconut milk. Be careful if you have an allergy though as my mum does and recently got poorly after having a coconut milk coffee. Probably cross contamination and the server not cleaning the machine properly before use. They offer gluten free pre packed biscuits and cakes but I wish there were more savoury options.

Find the service and location make an excellent meeting place for friends and business colleagues. Disable access brillant. plenty of seating. Good WIFI access. Excellent service

My friend and I visit here for coffee from time to time but as we visit about 9.30/10am it is very busy. Struggle sometimes to get a table but usually works out in the end.

Visited here to kill some time waiting for a shop to open. Loved the fact the they had papers available to read. Great coffee.....wanted the salted caramel but they had stopped doing it.....bring it back!.....so had just normal caramel instead and it was still lovely. I love the tiffin which is to die for. Great meeting place for coffee.

Went with my family for coffee to warm up. Got a table for the 5 of us easily but with 2 toddlers (twins) we were unable to get them out of their pram because there are only 2 high chairs in the whole shop!! Unfortunately this made our experience as a family a bit stressful & not so enjoyable.

Whenever we are in Broadstairs we always go to the drive thru Costa rather than the other one. The team are excellent Connor Garry and the girls, I would mention them all by name if I knew the all. Really good atmosphere and as I said the team are excellent

Good cappuccino, friendly staff. They also sell sandwiches, muffins, cakes and croissants. There is also a drive they which I have never used

An OK costa with the most efficient Barista I have seen. She was brilliant keeping the queues down even when busy..

I love this place, it's only a shame that everyone else does too.It's so easy to park and pop in. I love most of the food except, just when I'm enjoying something they stop serving it! Like the mini triple cakes or the Steak Panini. The staff are always polite, though not very good at working fast. As a result, there are long queues at the weekend, which are annoying. There doesn't seem to be a good stream-lined system of service in place. One minute there are three staff the next one, and at times the tables are loaded with finished food. I'm guessing its something to do with the drive-in facility.But, if you manage to settle on a quiet moment, with a luxury chocolate and a flake, especially now their xmas range of drinks are out and if the ambiance is right, calm and relaxed - its great.

As one might expect this is a typical Costa coffee with no exceptions situated in a motorway service area. Sometimes it is good to have no surprises.

I expect many users are used to these prices but to me for a coffee they are well over the top.Nice coffee but .........

Came in here to meet a friend on a very hot day. We both decided (being pregnant and boiling hot!) that we'd go for a cooler rather than a hot drink. Whilst everyone sat outside enjoying the sun, we sat inside. It was cool, clean and the staff was friendly.

As you'd expect from Costa, the coffee is always good, and the premises clean.This particular Costa offers a drive through which, when busy is often quicker than queuing inside. There is also outside seating available which is ideal during the summer.Ideal for a coffee break whilst shopping at Westwood Cross or nearby.

Popped in for a caramel cooler on my day off from work. The staff were fairly friendly and efficient (though far too informal.) The coffee, however, was not served to brand standard, the caramel syrup was missing, no napkin was offered with the drink. Ultimately it wasn't a bad visit to Costa, but I was a little disappointed overall

As the weather was lovely my husband and I took our baby with us to enjoy hot chocolates and panini's out in the Sun. Got there and learnt that we couldn't do this because there were serveral people ready sitting at tables smoking. It's such a shame because we wouldn't have minded has it just have been us two but we didn't want baby breathing that in. I kept looking out to see if it was less Smokey but it just seemed as though they were chain smoking. Such a shame. One side should be for non smokers others people who don't want to passive smoke are left with no choice but to stay inside. Managers should really look into this.Another pointer, it seemed as though there are only two staff at the till serving the same customer. One taking the order and the other making the drinks. For the size of this coffee shops and the amount of custom they get there should really be more staff. Though drinks and food are tastey and staff are friendly and offer to carry your tray over.

Took 20 mins to be served as the que was so long, I would have walked out had my children not been so desperate to come here, drinks were nice and the man who cleaned our table was friendly but feel they could do with extra staff as the waiting time is unacceptable and they must know a weekend in Westwood will be busy

Once again attempted to pop in for a quick coffee but as I opened the door there was the que and knowing how painfully slow the service is I turned round and didnt bother! They must lie losing money I have left numerous times for the same reason!

The service through the drive through always seems to take its time. It's probably quicker to park up & wander in leisurely than it is. However, saying that the coffee is lovely! :)

I often use this coffee shop, I like my coffee strong so usually have 3 shots. It's nice to sit outside and watch the shoppers

On a recent visit found that I couldn't get a skinny latte as they had no skimmed milk. I would have thought common sense would have prevailed and walked one minute up the road to M&S or across the road to the other Costa and bought some milk over. Queues in here are always bad, and appears understaffed. However the staff here are very pleasant and polite, Especially Wayne.

In fairness, the place was quite busy when we visited. However, they should have known this beforehand as it was 12:30 on a Saturday lunchtime so no excuse,The 1 guy behind the coffee was having to service a permanent queue of a couple of dozen customers. As a result, zero care made with regard to the coffee (horrible latte, cold cappuccino with choc powder dumped on the top, rank flat white).Filth everywhere including disgusting coffee machine, milk everywhere, grounds all over the place. Loads of very dirty uncleared tables.Summary: poor coffee, understaffed, dirty. Avoid.

Went for a coffee and catch up with my friends and walked inside and up to counter the floor was sticky staff were disinterested we ordered coffee and were choosing cake but staff member was clearly getting impatient with us we took our tray and went to find a table it wasn't full but struggled to find a clean table once finished I went to use the toilet before leaving there is one unisex toilet and one disabled they were both locked so I stood patiently thinking they were in use eventually a staff member came out of disabled one and I said I had been waiting a long time and he informed me he had locked it because he had just cleaned it. Won't go back here in a hurry over priced and very poor standard

Have walked in then straight back out so many times because of the long line of people waiting to be served. The service is so slow .

Friendly staff. And enough time place to sit inside and outside. Toilet needed a good clean though. Drinks same as all the other Costa branches.

I am a real Costa fan and use the chain a lot. I know that some people are anti but I do enjoy their coffee. Todays experience was a joke. A Sunday morning. Queue a mile long, waited forever and then bad attitude. Not a Thank You. Just a grunt. Normally the staff are very good but now Xmas is coming ?? The real Broadstairs Costa to go to has to be in Broadstairs and not Westwood Cross.

As in Margate a multi national tax avoiding monster taking money out of the local economy. Local people wake and literally smell the coffee and go somewhere else or the local businesses will close. Overpriced and unnecessary. Just there for the usual local wife with no job and on her way to westwood in her Chelsea wagon.

The place is great if you like really long queue's and clearing your own table... I'm not so great at either...
