Costa in Croydon

My family member and I went to this Costa in Purley for coffee and cakes. Very nice atmosphere and clean. Very relaxing time.

The wrong order was delivered, someone else's food. It's not easy to get in touch and request for it to be re-delivered as ordered. A refund is offered instead but it's not paid straight away. I had to re-order. I don't think that this is acceptable. An apology and delivery of the correct order should be offered immediately. I may change cou³ri company. Also the 100% increase in minimum amount of order for free delivery is outrageous. from a very Disgruntled customer

It is an amazing place and was a amazing visit at purley Customer Thank you team Purley Costa.

So where do I start ? There are a few things wrong with this shop In particular : The biggest one is that the coffe tastes very different than all the other shops , I have been a costa customer for years now and I can tell across the board how the coffe supposed to taste . There is allways a bitter taste in the coffe dosent matter what time of the day I have been there . I don't know if has something to do with the machine or how often is clean but is almost undrinkable . The manager - As soon as he open the shops wich is pretty much on time , he makes coffe for customer in his own clothing , straight from outside behind the counter , headphones on no worries . This happened this morning as well and many times before . All the coffes are extra hot , I have burend my lips and my tongue countless times . Even if have requested for the coffe to be done on a standard temperature. Never enough sandwiches - not sure if is supplier problem or just not ordering beforehand . Not fast enough service- the staff moves in slow motion even if the line of customers is at the door or there are 2 customers is the same . The only member of staff that I will give credit to is the brunette English girl ( apologies for not knowing her name ). She is amazing, very polite, allways been super friendly and kind . She is the only one there faultless . Well done to her . Keep it up ! The last hope that shop has, to be honest . Her customer service and quality control of the order are 10/10 .

For the first time in many years I saw a Costa employee who was so happy to work. The worker's name is Munna, he works as if it is his business and he owns this cafe. He managed to do everything, clean the tables, make coffee and smile at everyone. If Costa doesn't reward him financially for this, I'll be disappointed.

Munna and Bethany are such an asset to the Purley Costa branch . Each time I visit the shop they are constantly smiling and happy to serve you in a courteous and friendly manner . I think it’s fair to state that without this fantastic team on board all the residents would truly be at a loss! Keep up the good work team and thank you !

The review is solely for the coffee. The bap had nothing in it and was made like I had ordered a skinny bap.

Staff extremely helpful and cared about customer experience. Nice to find in a fast moving environment!

The drink was just fine. The atmosphere to work in, on your digital gadgets and for ideas formation is nice. Would recommend the flow of different people coming in and out, along with the noise to look around once in a while after you have submerged too much in your thoughts.

I visit this branch regularly and it is one of my favourites. Mainly due to the super welcoming and friendly staff who always have a smile for their customers. The branch is always clean and has a relaxing atmosphere.

Amazing service from this. It was just beyond expectations. Very quick service from Manager and one of lady srami. I will come back very soon.keep it up

I usually don’t write reviews but I had too in this case !! One of the best Costa in this area. This is gem of purely. Don’t let the small amount of negative reviews steer you away from this costa. The atmosphere is wonderful. I was helped by two servers called Munna and Sharmin which were 2 of the most lovely, polite and helpful people. Who clearly care about the business. I Only have positive things to say about this place. And the coffees are great as use to be……

I used to come here to study my course in the afternoons and relax almost everyday, it was very relaxing and I enjoyed it very much. I stopped after one staff member decided to refuse me and actually ask me for ID... I'm near my mid 20s... it was asked for quite loud and the whole shop went quiet , I went back once more and thats it. They made a huge deal about even laughing and joking, I was quite annoyed. I go to a different Costa now, I've NEVER had this anywhere else. When I did go back the staff were very untrained. It was 2 guys, they must've had to confirm the coffee order about 6 times and still made it wrong and forgot to give us the food, we had to go up and ask again where he then tried to make me pay again. I recently went back with 2 friends and even they complained the coffee wasn't that good and the hot chocolate was remade twice. Been back after quite a few months. It was a girl and a guy. Both amazing. I left later on because the woman who asked me for ID was back and kept staring at me and i felt uncomfortable to order another drink incase of the same situation, that had never and has never happened to me. Update: went in again, when will i learn. Been 6+ months since i came in and i wanted to try the new coffee. There was a new girl there and the lady who asked my ID still 🙃 the new girl asked for longer tongs because she finds it easier to use and doesnt damage the cakes with them and she was told no. The lady who asked my id put in my coffee order, charged me for the medium without asking what size i wanted - i wanted a small incase i didnt like the drink. I had to later ask what size my coffee was. The new girl looks like shes ready to walk out with how shes being spoken to. I wasnt asked what method i wanted to pay i was just expected to use card and i had brought some spare change to lose but ultimately couldnt. On the plus side she didnt ask my ID 😂😂

Actually i had my expresso coffee every day . The staff are so nice and friendly and always make me feel really welcome. Specially a young beautiful stuff called Brittany i hope i written her name nicely she's always smiling and very helpful 😊 A great atmosphere for kids plus it’s great value for money. Highly recommend

Latte and Bacon Sandwich were perfect, but Cappuccino arrived half empty. No sign of significant spillage in the bag

This is a great place for a pitstop while charity shopping down the high street. It has been refurbished and now it is a much more pleasant place. Often, machinery and or facilities are broken but its still a solid place for a drink. It’s a Costa, its good.

The Frappe and the hot chocolate both lacked caramel flavouring. This is the worst caramel frappe I’ve ever had from a costa

I couldn't eat the bun it was very dry. It would be great if an option for extra Espresso was added to the list of extras.

Remarkably dire service. The barista spotted a friend at the back of the queue and started serving them without even acknowledging the presence of other customers who had been waiting patiently in front for several minutes.

Had to go and find the driver as incapable if reading road signs, costa messed up order too

Ring customer service but can't get anybody on a Sunday. Can't even ring Costa Coffee shop so they xan bring you a forgotten order again!

Fast delivery but my toastie wasn’t cooked even though it’s under the hot food section. There should be an option to selected if it’s to be heated or not otherwise I would’ve got a cold sandwich!

Too much chunky ice in my caramel frappe and the caramel syrup was small and in one corner.... The workers are still learning but i dont want to pay the price for that

My order was wrong and the driver must have dropped the bag because all the drinks were open, leaking and half gone, the cups were wet and unsafe.

Ordered a toastie and a chai latte. Inexplicably, the toastie was only toasted on one side so the food was lukewarm at best and falling apart. The chai was basically hot milk with no flavour. Only been able to get a refund from Just Eat for the toastie. They wanted a picture of my latte with no chai. Go figure!

Items missing from order, toasties came but were squished/ripped apart, received a drink but not the one I ordered. Unfortunately this is the first time I’ve ordered from this Costa so unlikely to use again.

Order was early but items were missing. Staff at Purley Costa were very apologetic and understanding and advised to claim a refund. Although items were missing I will still order from them again as the staff are really nice when you walk in or ask for a delivery

Food was OK. Delivery was quick. Coffees not as good as normal. And forgot to put leaflet in order so can add the bean rewards to Costa app.

They provided a friendly and delightful service. I prefer them to Starbucks for quality and presentation. I particularly liked their salted caramel frappe with coffee. I would recommend.

Terrible place. Coffee machine was out of order (not their fault) so they told me sorry, no hot drinks, nothing, not even hot chocolate. I go back to browse for a cold drink and see someone else order tea and receive it no problem! Toilet was gross and the whole place just gave me a vibe of "Pay and get out".

Pretty bad really. Restaurant looking tired and in need of a refresh. Service OK,staff usually friendly but will only serve coffee in cardboard cup, even when eating in. Why? Probably won't visit again. There are better places in Purley.

Many times been here but as of late, it has been less than hot 'hot' chocolates, unhappy people serving us and a very dirty store with dirty and leaking toilet. Had to ask for fresh drinks when both drinks were lukewarm. There is something unhappy about this store. The seating outside are dirty too and wobble. Found out this is a franchise which may explain why it is not up to Costa standards.

Good to see it busy. Good to see lightbulbs all working as these things make a difference to a venue. Manager very attentive and good staff atmosphere. Looks like they enjoy what they do. Sign of things to come

The worst Costa in whole London first of all is very dirty coffee quality is very bad one of the stuff acting like boss rude dose not follow the Costa standards

Great place. Very friendly staff. Always get my coffee right and make it perfect. The place itself could do with a bit of a face lift it's a bit old and dated inside and you can see that many things are broken and lights don't work and the chairs and tables are a bit dated. Feels like it's an old dated pub which I don't think that's the look Costa are going for. It's clean but just dated. I think Purley could do with a decent looking coffee shop and maybe the clientele which go in, may be better.

Nice food and drinks here. But in my opinion I do think Costa are pricy.

Place seemed dirty on entrance. Purchased 2 drinks Was not asked if I wanted to sit in or take away. My drinks were made in take away cups as it’s easier just before closing apparently. It’s 1530 they close at 1800. Hmmm ok. Not until after my coffee was made ( roughly 10 mins after I ordered) was I told “We do not have sugar. Use the fake sugar in the pink sachets, it’s the same thing”. Safe to say I will not visit again

Went to my local Costas this morning at 8.15am and it was closed despite it being advertised as opening at 8.00am

Amazing Food and drinks. Also especially amazing staff. The blonde man who served me who was about 20-23 was really nice and kind. It is a great place to go.

Would be nice for the staff to smile once in a while ive been here twise .. first time cold miserable staff i orderd an iced coffee with soya only to be told rather rude we cant do that because tbey ran out which is fine but it was said rudely aslo and ived tea which was warm and no ice ...second time the staff were nice but still no smiles fhis time being told i cabt have a coffee because the machine is having Maintenanc...

Both the coffees were half empty as the lids had not been put on properly and had leaked all over the food.

Food arrived on time. Coffee arrived hot and a full cup that had not leaked unlike other companies when I have ended up with a third of a cup!

I entered this coffe shop In Purley the first time today . It is still closed to sit inside but they are giving take away coffe . And because they had the 50th Birthday it was a great offer on all hot drinks too. Wasn't too crowded . The service was good...friendly staff too. Thank you

Went in today to get lunch. Food was nice, and no more pricey than other coffee shops. The ice machine was broken, and while I was in the store 3 others asked for iced drinks and were told the machine wasn't working. The staff joked about putting a sign up, an idea that would greatly benefit them. One member of staff also kept taking his facemask on and off, and answered his mobile instead of giving me the hot food I was waiting for. Overall a fine experience, just let down by the staff unfortunately

Ordered a coffee for my sister via Uber eats and they got the order wrong... this happened a few times...

Jasmine is superb in customer relations - had a minor issue with being shorted in my takeaway coffee. She resolved it by asking me to come back the next day for a refill. Great standard costa coffee
