Great little pub. Really friendly staff. Good changing facilities if you’ve got a little one. Show all the sports.

The staff is clearly tired and needs a rest. Waiting for a coffee for 20 minutes and not getting it is a disaster. I do not recommend this place.

Everything you need in a local with a good beer selection, sports on tv, pool table and darts board and very friendly staff. Only advice for management would be careful not to allow it to turn into a crèche, the last 2 times I’ve been in to watch the football it’s been overrun by kids which not everyone enjoys in a pub.

So happy to see the Albert get back to how it should be!!!! The team have created an brilliant and welcoming atmosphere. The new menu has everything you could want from your local. The management team have really listened to their customers and are willing to make changes based on suggestions. Karaoke Bingo is awesome and is great fun! Well done everyone!!!!

Really impressed. My partner and I came in as we are moving into the area and of course the sellers weren’t gone yet and still loading the moving van. We came in desperate for a drink and something to eat as this would be our new local and now we had time to kill. The prices are really reasonable, the staff helpful and I was pressed how clean the place is!! It’s a sweet highlight to what is probably going to be a long day! Looking forward to the free coffee on Mondays :)

Have found the managers and all staff to be courteous and friendly with all customers regardless of the demeanour of the customer. A family friendly pub with a tasty looking new menu. (Not reviewed as I haven’t tried it yet though my wife did and she loved it). An excellent local and we should all support our local as all too often in this area, they can quickly close and be gone forever becoming flats.

We had a fab night here as always, the new menu is great with plenty of choice! Staff are so friendly especially Dwayne, Jo and Tracy who have provided a variety of board games to keep the little ones entertained. Even dogs get free treats with their water!! Definitely would recommend

🚇 Norwood Junction 🍺 £5.30 Heineken A Friendly South Norwood Local. The Albert Tavern is located in a quiet side street in South Norwood close to South Norwood Country Park. The nearest station is Norwood Junction, it’s about a ten minute walk to get here. The Albert Tavern was originally built in 1867. During WWII, German Bombers destroyed the pub, it was eventually rebuilt in the 1960's with an estate pub look and feel. This is a traditionally decorated one bar pub that has a modern feel to it. The servery is long and stretches down the length of the bar. There is plenty of seating with a mixture of poser tables, booths and banquettes around sturdy tables. Adorning the walls are a collection of prints and photos of the area in times gone by. This pub has a pool table, dartboard, a few large screens and not forgetting a proper pub carpet. At the rear of the pub is a beer garden for the warmer months. The beer line up was solid and offers a selection of mainstream beers plus two cask ales. I decided on a Heineken, my pint hit the spot and pleasingly cost just over a fiver. There is a traditional pub grub food menu available, Fish & Chips is reasonably priced at £11.99. I visited on an overcast Saturday afternoon in January. The pub was fairly busy with a local crowd of all ages. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed with half the punters watching the Chelsea v Fulham game and the other half dotted around the pub enjoying a catch up with friends and family. I had a quick chat with the Guv’nor who was clearly passionate about his pub. The service was excellent, the lady who served me was friendly and courteous. This pub hosts Karaoke and Live music nights and also shows all live sports including Premier league. From the outside the @alberttavernse25 may look a bit unappealing but step inside and you’ll find a cosy local pub with a friendly atmosphere. The beer selection is solid and the food is favourably priced. There’s plenty to keep you entertained and you’ll be well looked after. We went to this lovely pub..was made to feel so welcomed the staff & management we spoke to were so lovely..even the pot man who was collecting the plates & glasses was a lovely fella..would highly recommend this place..food was lovely

They have very popular karaoke nights and multiple other events too.They also welcome dogs, have a pool table and darts and show sports on TV. I would highly recommend a visit.

Sunday lunch. Didn't come upto expectations. Offers of on veg and you only get one piece of cauliflower. It was my local pub. I'll not be using it again. I've been going for over 20 years

Excellent, what an experience. I went in for a quiet drink and food. I was greeted with a friendly smile and a bubbley atmosphere. I had a couple of bottles beers and burgers and chips 🍟 I really love playing pool and the nice bar manager mentioned that start up pool club, which means I'll definitely go bad for that. Overall experience was great!!

Lovely little pub hidden in a residential area. Had a delicious Christmas dinner in a friendly atmosphere. Staff were excellent on a busy day .Highly recommended.

Absolutely brilliant place to have food and drinks in South Norwood.

I visited here this evening after work. I had a bacon cheeseburger with fries and onion rings, it was amazing, who knew this little Jem was right here in south Norwood. The landlord, who introduced himself as Dwayne was without doubt one of the most welcoming hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. This is a real family pub, mum Tracy is the chef, I will be returning here very often, I thought service like this was a thing of the past!!! I wish I could give 10 stars ⭐️

Found the Albert Tavern to be very welcoming and a lovely local pub with nice people and atmosphere. First time visiting for us and we stayed for some food which was lovely. The hunters chicken was well cooked and in a lovely BBQ sauce, which there was plenty off. The staff were kind and friendly and dressed wonderful for the Halloween party that was happening while we were there. Family friendly, and the kids loved the chicken strips and wings with lovely seasoned fries. Will definitely be heading back to try more on the menu, and hopefully enjoy future events now we know about this lovely little pub.

They served my frozen chicken. They were absolutely lovely but maybe just a pints pub .

Nice clean pub, friendly staff and reasonable prices

29/9/2023 is the date of this review. My previous review celebrated the re-opening of the Albert after Covid. It is now under new management and has been so for a few months now. The toilets are clean as is the whole pub, the ale is well managed and the food is prepared nicely and well cooked. Dwaine, the new manager, wants to improve and succeed and has started by installing a pool table and two pizza ovens. The whole staff are friendly and efficient and above all, welcoming. I am confident that as the pub's reputation grows the footfall will also increase and this is to benefit of everyone on both sides of the bar. Heartily recommended.

Recently changed management so still waiting to assess to impact on the pub.excellent karaoke and disco nights. Need to get the ale back on the draught pumps though. Added post yesterday evenings visit. Despite being assured the draught ale would be back on - it wasn't! I don't particularly want to drink inferior tasting and (now thanks to more government duty) more expensive bottled beers. If you want my custom regularly you need to sort the draught ales out.

While staying with friends in London we popped into this lovely local while passing through. Me and my son enjoyed a delicious meal, with friendly service and watch the Grand Prix. Lovely pub, well kept, loads of screens for sports, which they’ll even split for you ~ as some of us watched the Grand Prix and some watched the cricket 🙌🏻😊Lovely courtyard which we enjoyed when the sun poked its head out for a moment and we even enjoyed a game of giant Jenga together! Great, welcoming and friendly atmosphere, with friendly staff and owners. Highly recommend if you live in the area or work nearby.

Tammy and the team are dedicated and amazing. They know the community well and have your drinks ready as you enter with a smile. They lay on great entertainment and the place is always busy. It is friendly welcoming pub with history and character, not too many of those around. On the the 27th of June, now after just a year Greene King want to close it - disgusting disappointed and no doubt a manoeuvre to get their way to sell it and put a block of flats in it’s place. Profit for them - nothing for the community

Nice local pub, reopened after several years closed and owing to community pressure for this place, rather than the demolition of and replacement with an identikit block of flats. Service was good, dog-friendly venue with multiple screens for sports, large, spacious, light and comfortable, with outside seating. Good selection of beverages, food available was okay but hardly stunning. Do try the various shot options (3 for £5, for example, others are available) for fun. Support your local pubs or risk their permanent loss. This is a community facility, with activities on various evenings including quizzes and live music.

Visited the Albert Tavern this evening to celebrate Burns Night, the interior was bedecked in bunting featuring Scottish flags and Rabbie Burns banners. The haggis supper was superb!!! The staff couldn’t do enough to ensure we had a good evening and were both welcoming and courteous. They even provided us with some takeaway haggis to enjoy tomorrow. Can’t recommend the Albert Tavern highly enough and will definitely be back.

Brilliant pub, great atmosphere. Superb karaoke on Sunday afternoons, well supported, but PLEASE get the draught ale back on! Bottles are OK but not as good as draught!

Tammy and the crew are amazing. My son loves being there and they love my son. A very comfortable vibe and the drinks are a good price and good quality!! And there is something for everyone!

Vine aquí hoy con mi amigo. Disfruté de la envoltura de Yorkie, aunque las patatas fritas podrían haber sido mejores, mi amigo comió el bistec y la ensalada y lo pidió medio raro. Sin embargo, el bistec no era de buena calidad, era masticable y en realidad estaba bien hecho en lugar de medio raro. Hadn't been to The Albert Tavern for many years and was very pleasantly surprised when we went recently. Very friendly staff, good service, and modern refurb makes this local pub well worth a visit. Will be returning soon.

Have been to this pub 3 times in recent weeks when visiting friends (we live in Somerset). It has been refurbished to a very high standard, and the staff are extremely friendly and the service is brilliant. The last visit was for a birthday bash, and the food that was provided for the buffet was superb, a mixture of hot and cold, and the staff were so helpful all evening. Would definitely recommend !!

Went here for my dads 60th party! The staff couldn’t do anymore to accommodate the evening, they did such a fantastic job. Food and atmosphere were both brilliant! Will definitely be back!

Recently had a party at the Albert Tavern, the staff were excllent from the moment we walked in to the time we left, nothing but praise for them,made our evening even better as we had no need to worry about anything.

Had our joint 60th birthday party at the Albert Tavern, superb buffet, great atmosphere and the staff were outstanding. The evening was everything we wanted it to be.

Popped in after seeing “Hamilton” and a little shopping. Tom and Scott were great! Tom was off shift but one would not know it, he was very helpful in introducing a couple of American’s to this wonderful place. Great atmosphere ...excellent beer and delicious fish and chips!

Esta es una joya escondida del sur de Norwood. Tuvimos una cena maravillosa aquí, la comida es de buena calidad y sabrosa. Mis hijos eran bienvenidos, aunque hacían mucho ruido. Tiene un ambiente encantador y acogedor, y el personal era amable. Lo mejor es el pub está recién renovado y parece fantástico. Sin duda volveré.
