Friendly pub. Food was a generous portion. Mine was 1/2 roast chicken, which was a little overcooked and therefore dry. Staff very helpful 👍

Feel like this has loads of potential. People behind the bar are friendly and do a great job. Plenty of sport on. Beer is good. They have a pool table and dart board but the place just needs a freshen up.

Sometimes quiet, pub gets busier on weekends or around payday.. especially when there is live entertainment (musicians) and is a nice place to watch the football or other sports occasionally. If you prefer to sit and play a board game, welcomes everyone.

Next to Purley United Reformed Church is tge erstwhile 'Rectory pub' now rebranded as the Pear Tree.

You'll get served if you're a regular otherwise expect to be ignored or only served if no one else is at the bar. Not worth your time anymore. They don't serve food and the manager needs to get some service skills training under her belt.

Popped in for a quick pint pre hospital appointment. Very quiet. Barmaid was pleasant.

My girlfriend and I always go here in the evening if we fancy fun evening. Pool table, darts board, reasonably priced drinks and the staff and crowd are lovely 👌 they don't serve food but they allow you to bring your own food from wherever which is better in my opinion

Lots of fighting and lots of drug dealing Going on all the time would give it a miss Use to a good pub but other pubs in the area are better

Great you can take your own (KFC) food in but all cider run out on tap and bottles limited choice of berry flavours.

Had an hour before the next train, perfect spot 5 mins walk for a cheeky beer

Great place to if you're in Purley, for lunch. Or just a quiet drink.

Been coming here for 2 years... mostly on Fridays! The staff are great and welcoming. Encourage you to have a good time . Chelsea, the manager always looks after us and makes sure we're constantly topped up and enjoying ourselves. Sean, great on the karaoke!! 🎤 and always smiling! Since new management the atmosphere has been great! Thank you Pear Tree!!

Popped in yesterday (Thursday) with some friends was looked after by a lovely lady called Gina, she was very friendly and made us feel very welcome

We had a bad experience a few months back and had avoided the Pear Tree so came back. My advice is go there for a drink in a nice atmosphere but don't bother with the food. The kitchen is sublet to some Korean BBQ burger brand on JustEat and that takes priority over pub orders. Our food was so bad I was embarrassed to take it back. 1 of 3 dishes was part inedible, another wasn't what we ordered and the 3rd was actually ok. We used to get a lot for our money but not now. After knowing how they run their kitchen and 2 really bad experiences with the food I'm reluctant to go back. I just wish they'd actually serve the food from the JustEast restaurant that they sublet the kitchen to as it looks awesome in the menu! Pretty disappointing as we really like the pub.

A very popular member of staff that all current and new customers appreciate, along with James, Ryan and the new Manager Charlie. This establishment is a must!

This pub is perfect! Good drinks, great food and the staff is polite, available and professional. The price is super fair, the turkey pie is delicious, the fish and chips is the real deal, I mean it is the way it is supposed to be 😉. We drove hours to find a place where we could watch the F1, MotoGP and NFL...no sucess...everywhere we went the tvs where on soccer matches...then I found them on google and called them asking if they could help and guess what: they set a tv only for us! We had an amazing afternoon and evening there. It has just became my fav pub in London. You guys are the top! 😍🤩🤗

Not that much of an atmosphere for the Sunday when we visited, they did have screens uo for the cricket but only a hand ful of people inside. However staff are very helpful.

Place is amazing, i went for the first time 09/11/23. I had an amazing time and will be coming back. Place has an amazing atmosphere and general manager charlie is an amazing person who lights the place up: Leading from the front showing great service. Cannot recommend this place enough

The worst pub i’ve been to. No atmospheres, inexperienced staff and the rudest security.

Just moved in the surrounding area recently and came in a few weeks ago with the Mrs, had a lovely cuppla beers with a burger and chips. Food was excellent and the service was too. A small, handsome lad called James served us, he was polite, welcoming and made sure that we were satisfied. Would definitely come again.

Visited the pub on Friday for lunch time, Gina was amazing and very attentive, she looked after us all and made sure everything was ok, we will be back. Thank you

Went to the Pear Tree today at 12.40 with my grandson. Went to the bar to place an order only to be told there was no food being served. Apparently the food delivery was late. How can you run a restaurant like this ? Why let customers sit and read the menu. Perhaps the chef had not turned up for lunch service. No apology just some muttering. Can't rate the food and service because there wasn't any.

Order small side of scampi, took 55 mins to be cooked and brought 6 pieces of scampi out! Female chef very grumpy and spent more time walking out of the kitchen then actually in there. Not sure what the priority is but when I ordered last Saturday for take away food burger meal and 10 wings, all cooked within 20 mins.. definitely recommend take away service! Or eating in when a different chef is on shift!

Great pub only just started coming here but it’s now my new local! Staff are pleasant to be around and serve well and the manager collete is pukka! would defo recommend to come here, also have different things going on everyday such as a games night, karaoke, quiz nights and darts tournaments coming soon.

Had a really nice evening with brilliant staff as always. Lovely food and feels very homely. Will def be back

Went here today with my dad for some lunch. Burger and a drink was £8 and it was delicious!!! Mike who was serving behind the bar and clearing tables was really helpful and friendly!! Would highly recommend this place and I will deffo be back!!

Used to be a lively place but was nearly empty on a Friday night. Staff still friendly and polite, but it must go down the tubes soon.

Mike and his staff are always obliging! Have had birthday party in the pub and we were able to put up balloons and decorations. Often go to lunch there too! Very happy! Mind in Croydon staff member.

Paid £17.95 for an aperol spritzer and a prosecco on a Saturday afternoon. It played on my mind as it seemed so expensive, more like central London prices. I rang up a few days later to check and a pleasant lady confirmed the price (having checked when i’ visited so presumably looked back on the till receipt.) I was told that Saturday prices are more expensive. Can’t help feeling that I’ve been ripped off and it has put me off going there again. Just to make you aware to get the price of any non standard drinks upfront.

The staff are all absolutely amazing, it’s dog friendly which is a bonus, cheap drinks & parking available behind the pub can’t go wrong really !

Been there a few times and food was always a let down. Last time I received a wrong meal, had it exchanged and they thought it was a good idea to throw the same chips back to the frier after 15-20 minutes serving me gross, hard, overly fried brown chips.. Will most likely go again for drinks / watch football but will definitely not be ordering food again.

Went it for lunch and a drink took my dog with me they were really nice about it. The staff working there were really nice Chelsea and Gina made me feel really welcomed and the food was perfect would definitely come again.

Had an amazing 30th birthday party here for my daughter, they literally catered for everything, food was delicious and they even got the karaoke out for us during the evening. Provided a whole section for us all, staff and landlady are brilliant here xx

Lovely pub popped in with some mates the staff was really friendly. Food was really nice would definitely come again.

Used to eat here fairly frequently. Gave up when food was consistently poor, taking a long time to come out and there was no chef. Decided to give it another go today.....never again. Ordered a mixed grill-no steak. Ordered fish and chips-no fish. Ordered lasagne and husband ordered the gammon. Took quite a while to come out, when it did my husbands onion rings were dried out and overcooked. My lasagne was completely cold. Chips were horrible too. We were refunded for the food but there was no goodwill gesture such as a refund on the drinks we had bought. We left and I had to return to work having not eaten.

Visited this evening for a catch up with a friend food was very well priced but when food came out the onion bharjis were burnt and rock hard and I had to return my jacket potato as it was frozen in the middle. Staff member wasn't very apologetic lacking good customer service. I shall not be returning again.
