IKEA Restaurant & Cafe in Croydon

Yesterday had the worst experience in Ikea. We ordered some hot dogs and the server was so rude and inefficient. She made a hot dog for my partner and then she was supposed to do a veggie one for me but she took the same sausage for it... my partner realised and told her. It took her a couple of mins to decide if she wanna change it or not... and then she did. However, she left the order on side and did some other things as she got distracted and at the time she finished setting up my hot dog, my partner's one was cold. Because she knew she was wrong she had no courage to make any eye contact till the end. I asked if there are any trays as we had quite a bigger order with fries ice cream etc... she rudely said No and looked at me with satisfaction. However, the veggie hot dog seemed uncooked and wasn't able to eat it after all. Fries were worse than ever ... cold and dry. Thanks, Ikea, you might wanna have a look at what people you hire.

Good place to order food from, along with the large varity of seats and decor its a gr8 place to eat at (ps get the 12 meatballs & a cup 4 juice)

DONT GO ON A SUNDAY! Waited for an hour to get our food due to the queue. Can management please put more servers on to make sure it goes quicker?

Meatballs are brilliant. Great lunch for a busy day. Use the further queue for food. Usually half the length and people just don’t see passed the first queue. Don’t forget to add the red jam stuff called lingonberry or something. Amazing. Lots of child seats and kids cutlery. Atmosphere is nonexistent. Staff usually seem totally depressed and fed up.

Long queue during weekends lunch time. Would be nice to have more staff at the food counters. Some tables and chairs were quite dirty but there seemed to be no cleaning staff nor materials for self cleaning.

Very much a canteen operation. It was like being on an assembly line. Staff were like robots rather than humans. Having said that the food was Okay but a limited choice but it did represent good value for money

It is a self-service restaurant. You have to get the appetisers, desserts, and drinks yourself, and in a queue to get to the main dishes, which is served in a buffet style, portioned by the restaurant staff. I did ask to get extra gravy to the tastly meatballs. Also, you have to get the condiments and cutleries yourself after you pay at the till. The best part is, unlimited drinks! I enjoyed my cheesecake and coffee after my heavy meal. It's a good value for money. I also love sitting near the floor to ceiling windows to enjoy the view outside.

First time trying food from the restaurant. The fish and chips were value for money and very filling. The latte coffee was nice too. Definitely worth a visit!!

IKEA Restaurant Croydon is located inside IKEA, making it a convenient break for your shopping. The food is amazing, with the best being it's meatballs (sometimes it could be a hit or miss tho), the fish and chips and its desert, such as the cheesecake and the milkshake. It is located on the first floor although for a cheaper snack and a faster one, there is an stall on the ground floor (after the checkout or right of the entrance) which offers meatballs for a cheaper price, as well as hotdogs, cinnamon rolls, milkshakes and more. Highly recommended place.

Cheap tasty food. Good to fuel up before a big shop. Service is quick but a little bit like a canteen which is the idea

First time to an IKEA after hearing a lot about the meatballs. I was pleasantly surprised however there wasn’t anything special about them. The deim cake was pretty good. The service and atmosphere was factory-like with the process seemingly designed that churn the customers through the system. Would come again though.

I was in the area and decided to pay a visit to Ikea in Croydon. Whilst there I got something to eat at the restaurant. My normal order is meatballs and chips but I was not massively hungry so instead I got a bowl of soup and some garlic bread which was really tasty. If you have an Ikea Family Card you can have a free hot drink and this includes refills so if you are wanting a hot drink make the most of this offer. Better value than Wetherspoons! The lady that served me was really welcoming and the restaurant was kept very clean and tidy with staff patrolling the area wiping tables and replenishing supplies. Of course there is always something you will find you need whilst visiting the store so it's worth taking a stroll around the market hall and you may come away with a bargain. I realised during my visit to the Ikea in Croydon that this is probably the best Ikea for me to visit if I am travelling by public transport. The Croydon Tramlink has regular trams running to the closest stop at Ampere Way from Wimbledon to Beckenham Junction and Elmers End with interchanges at East and West Croydon. So there are links with South West Trains and the District Line at Wimbledon. Southern Railway at East & West Croydon, Thameslink at Wimbledon, Mitcham Junction and East Croydon and South Eastern Railway at Elmers End and Beckenham Junction.

The food is surprisingly cheap and affordable compared to rest of the UK. And the food quality is decent.

Meatballs are always delicious and juicy. I would definitely recommend it.

A sad shadow of its former self. Virtually no food choice, tiny portions and dirty chairs. We used to enjoy this as a cheap and cheerful treat, but it's rather bleak now

No gluten free food at all. No info on ingredients. Awful if you have allergies or are Gluten intolerant.

We wanted to express our heartfelt thanks and conratulate Howard at the checkout for being an absolute treasure. We have just returned from a trip to the Croydon store during a visit to our daughter as we are not regular customers. He greeted each and every customer with a joyful and warm welcome, thoughtful ,polite but not overbearing, a fine balance that made us feel very uplifted. Howard is a very special asset to IKEA and I really hope this is known to the powers that be. If I was the owner/CEO of IKEA , I would make this known and reward Howard for this. The new menu comes up in Ikea Croydon " rice chicken curry ".Please -avoid !!! Dont Waste your money !!! The food presentation is not as displaying, missing ikea food taste, serving white soggy rice with tasteless watering curry. SUCKS FOOD. Even dog will not accept the food! Disappointed!

good old ikea food! if you havent yet, try the plant balls instead of the meaty ones or the fish and chips with tartar sauce. kid’s meals are £1.50 for a very good option and perfect for me as a small adult. the lovely person serving us on a thursday evening gave us big portions and was very nice and patient (he was a young black guy with locks). the lady that we paid with was also very polite (brown haired white lady with her hair in a bun). very polite and helpful staff :-)

Food was disgusting, thrown onto a plate with disgusting attitude from the server, greasy, salty not nice at all!!! Avoid!!

OK, I do love IKEA. It's a simply menu with limited choice in canteen style BUT it works. I love the coffee and popping in - can't go wrong with £2 veggie breakfast! If you want toasty hot meal with choice, not the place. You want something to eat that is tasty and doesn't break the bank, then go for it. And of course they're known for their meatballs! There's always someone walking around cleaning tables and the staff have always been super friendly when I'm there.

Deeply disappointed as there are literally no Gluten Free hot meal options. If previously I could get salmon and mashed potatoes, then recently this option is not available. All that celiacs can have are salad leaves and sometimes soup. Even the salad bar is with gluten only.

Food is if lucky Luke warm Meatballs never hot but tasty the gravy so cold. Chips Luke warm tea is disgusting so go for canned drinks. It’s cheap. Meals just need to be hot. Breakfast is awful though cold fatty bacon tastes like powered eggs. Again never hot food. Such a shame. As nice enough to sit chill before or after shopping. Cashiers kind helpful most serving are one woman though so moody. Its cheap and do like the meatballs chips. Teens do too just want hot food.

Lots of people yet plenty of places to sit at. Queues are long but worth the wait. Food is yummy. Kids love it. Healthy soft drink options are great. Prices are low. Great way to end the long shopping day.

Affordable and tasty... however disappointing customer experience. Various dishes are well priced, presented and considered to the needs of customers. Especially the signature meatballs. However lower ground floor restaurant is usual very unclean and filthy. There is a general lack of queue discipline here, and people usually are just allowed to simply push in. This is often to the deteriment of elderly and disabled customers. Who are usually pushed out of the way or trampled over by teenagers or the 'busy parent/ family' types who cannot seem to wait or be considerate. The upper restaurant is normally better and much cleaner, with a more calm and welcoming atmosphere. However the queue often moves very slowly due to slow service speed.

All charging points removed during refit so can no longer charge my powerchair meaning I had to come home without going round ikea and shopping. Meatballs and chips were cold and the staff were rude. Not the ikea it was.

Nice atmosphere and some good value. Cold and hot drinks and even water tastes artificial. Ikea website showed restaurant closes 2130, but it's actually 2030.

The person cleaning the tables was using the same paper towel to clean several tables, which is unhygienic. The cleaning staff should be trained properly in hygiene.

Salmon was ok, but the veggies that came with it were tasteless and depressing.

Food wasn’t great and the coffee was from an instant machine. They should have a range of food options including a more premium range for those who fancy it. Considering most people will be spending the entire afternoon there so would rather eat in as opposed to leaving the premises to go to a decent restaurant.

Ikea food was recommended to me by a friend. Let me begin by saying something positive. Customer service at the serving points and tills was very good. I am sorry I sound moany and ungrateful but I have to say this... I was very disappointed with the battered fish: no taste , no flavor either in the fish or in the batter. The most tasteless fish I have ever eaten. for 5+ pounds ...A waste of money Maybe a little salt or flavor in the batter will be kinder and more enticing to the taste buds. The coffee was good but sadly when you add milk to it, the coffee gets cold. Please have a hot milk and a cold milk station as some people like hot and some people like cold milk. The cinnamon rolls were so tasty before and therefore I bought 2 packets ...some were rawish, and the quantity of cinnamon was so small, it was like eating plain bread. So sad as this is what drives me to come to IKEA . I have come to IKEA after a very long time and I can see that food ( fresh or packed) has fallen in standard ie the things I bought. I hope my next meal there is much better. I will stay away from the tasteless fish!

If you go during busy times, especially rush hour (e.g a weekend at 1pm) the service might be a bit slower. For example I was once charged extra for peas, missing meatballs etc, but we went again on a weekday in the evening and everyone was super friendly and really nice! Thanks for serving us “wet gravy” (if you know, you know). Will definitely be back! Just remember to have patience if you go during busy times! :)

Standard IKEA food, which is good, but the place is packed and very loud.

IKEA advertise a full breakfast menu until 11am. We arrived at 10.30 to find a lovely selection of Meatballs and Chips, Baked Salmon mash and veg and Lamb Shank. However nothing much in the way of breakfast. When asking we were told all they had was rolls and Sausages. Not the full English we were looking forward to. Oh well in for a penny, we agreed and were presented with two rubbery looking sausages and a part baked roll, great value it was only a pound! The roll only fitted, at a squeeze one of the sausages so the other was a stand alone job! We went to pay and collected cups for hot drinks, a lovely hot chocolate for the wife and a latte for myself, more disappointment to come when we found only a week filter coffee, or tea! Not much use when you don’t drink tea or coffee. Come on IKEA you can do better!!!

Wow as if the furniture etc isnt good enough, then they serve food like this. I had the veggie meatballs and my wife had the salmon and then cake and cinnamon bun for dessert. Just superb. It's almost worth taking a trip just for the food. The meatballs are amazing and the mash and gravy are delicious and good size portions. Cant wait to come back. Wish they still sold the dime bar cake though...

Great meatballs, gravalax, prawn and egg. Three course meal for 3 for £30! This is not fine dining but unbelievable value!

1100 hrs. No sandwiches on offer of any kind - only fish and chips, meat balls etc. Who wants that at 11am?! The food looked fine though - just not for me at that time of the day - hence a poor rating from me.

Visited Ikea Croydon recently to furnish my new flat and the experience was made so much easier due to their sales assistant Primorose G. She honestly went above and beyond to help me out which saved me tonnes of time and made a usually long-winded experience, quick and easy. Thank you Ikea! and more importantly thank you Primrose!! :)

Breakfast scrambled eggs were the main attraction to go to IKEA Croydon for many years we used to go fornightly because the scrambled eggs were so nice. Then IKEA changed to a flat pancake egg it’s awful. The current flat pancake egg is disgusting, Are they made from powdered eggs?

Meatballs. 5 star. Don't need to look past that. Get yourself down here. Even for the times you go for the meatballs and end up with a brand new kitchen, lots of items with strange names that lack descriptions but look cool and a new set of bedding or 'throw' cushions if you have had the meatballs you don't even care. When the pick and mix opens back up and you can get chocolate covered foam mushrooms you weekend is absolutely set. This is a post-children review. Pre children this would have still ranked pretty high though.

All Covid protocols adhered too , we had the jerk chicken and iconic meatballs. The food was just the ticket before we went shopping.

After travelling all that way for your meatball fix on a rainy Sunday, they won't let you in unless you get there early and book a table. Even if the restaurant looks empty, they'll just point and laugh at you for being such a sad loser.

The restaurant has reopened with social distancing in mind. It's not as self-service as before, as you now need to reserve a table when you arrive in-store, only one person is allowed to order at the till, and the food is delivered to your table. Still, food is the same as before, and the meatballs are still just as good! Check out the IKEA website for the details.

I love going here but it really bugs me when they don't wear gloves sometimes even if it's just to lay out the food. The last time ago had salmon it was over cooked so that put me off but the veg balls mash and peas are lovely. They need to sort their drinks machines out as they could have more options maybe? We popped into the downstairs cafe as we always reward ourselves with hot dogs & meatballs after facing the queues at IKEA as they never open enough tills.

Completely out of vegetarian food, while still advertising it on the menus. I resorted to a measly packet of crisps. Very disappointing.

The restaurant layout is huge. There seemed to be a lot of families there and I’m thinking maybe people just go there for dinner, I can see why - good food (and good quality) at reasonable prices. I really enjoyed the meatballs and mashed potatoes. The daim cake and maple and pecan muffins were delicious also. Overall we had a lovely dinner there before shopping so I recommend trying out if you’re making an ikea trip.
