Costa in St Albans

Cafe is shabby unwelcoming, waiting time in the queue 20 mins staff run off their feet and not organised, managers hiding in the rest room oblivious of what is going on, the snacks are a mess thrown everywhere having to rummage through for a biscuit, biscuits in the jar broken, cakes looking past sell by date. On the plus side the coffee was good but not worth the wait. Never to return or recommend.

Had a quick cup of coffee here during shopping on a rainy Monday evening. It was nice. Staff was friendly.

Myself and my colleague have been into Costa in next at Rooksley in Milton Keynes. Over the last 3 weeks my colleague has been verbally abused by avairis the store manager. Today I saw it for myself as he has turned all the staff against us that we got on with so well before. Everything he said was calculated and said to Antagonise is to get more of a reaction. Each time he has caused a scene in store as he always does it in front of all the customers instead of taking myself or my colleagues to the side. This is all because we spent almost £400 ordering lunch for a meeting we had in our office across the road. At no point did anyone tell us this was not allowed and they seemed more than happy to take our money. It wasn’t until the 3rd day we went to collect the lunch that they happily ordered for us that this all started and the manager started his verbal abuse to my manager. She was taken back as we had no idea that we had caused any issues for the store. Then the following week she attended Costa with another friend when she was approached my avairis again and he took pleasure in tell her she was a rude and horrible person and carried on his abuse. Today we went to grab a bite to eat at lunch time (always hoping he is not in) and he marched over to us and started again and banned us because he believes we are the ones in the wrong and that we are bad people. This young man clearly needs to go on a mangers course, customer service course and anger management course. I am beyond shocked that we have been treated this way. We have reported this before and had nothing come of it and the head office DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE!!

came here the other day for a coffee and was served by serena. lovely girl and friendly to chat to whilst i waited for my coffee: she is an asset to the team there. would definitely recommend this costa to everyone !!!

My wife and myself, have been visiting this Costa shop, for a couple of years now, always been extremely pleased with the quality of service, a cleanliness of the shop. For the past two years or so Jardeli has been the store manager, fabulous person, always makes every effort to make all customers very welcome. Sadly our visit to the shop, was spoiled by a extremely disruptive lady customer who was shouting abuse at the manager Jardeli because she had stopped her from allowing her children moving tables and chairs around that had not yet been sanitized. She could not understand, the dangers of this dangerous practice, with covid 19 restrictions in place. Jardeli made every effort to calm the irate customer, but she still continued shouting abuse, stating its just because "YOU DON'T LIKE CHILDREN". Jardeli even tried make a table ready for, even though the shop was very busy, and limed staff on duty. So sad to have witnessed this unsavory incident. Some people need to grow up and be more responsible,particularly in these very difficult Covid -19 times. 5 stars for manager Jardeli, how she dealt with the irate customer, she should apologize to store manager Jardeli for her unacceptable irate actions, and it ruined our relaxing coffee, thanks very much.

I have read the review below and, in my opinion, this review in no way reflects Jardeli the store manager. My wife and I visit the store on most days and find that Jardeli will treat all of her customers in a friendly, courteous and polite manner. Jardeli and Iwana are constantly cleaning down tables, to ensure customer safety during this difficult time, and as with most coffee shops and restaurants this store has had to restrict its number of available seats due to social distancing, however the staff will always try to ensure that people in the queue are seated in order when seats become available. Everything that Jardeli and Iwana do in the store is done with a smile, and I feel that both of them and the remainder of the staff at this store are an asset to Costa.

We went to costa to feed kids and they needed to sit down. Whilst in the queue the kids went to sit down as did the couple In front. Jardeli launches at us like a Rottweiler with no compassion to say we need to move the tired kids off the seats until we have lunch. We calmly explained that the couple had done the same ahead of the people in front of them. She went to challenge the man but told us they are fine because they were in front of us. The couple in front of them started to explain they also had the same frosty reception and that they are first and did not now have a table!! So we moved the kids and sat somewhere else! No need for drama as we all had a seat. This is a case of really using Covid to make ridiculous arguments. It’s a shame as all the other staff were ok and we spent £30 in the cafe!! I think she just didn’t like children and tried to get rid of us! Throughout the queue she wouldn’t leave us alone and was really enjoying the fight

Regrettably, this Costa has not improved since my last visit. The coffee was very good, but the cleanliness of the tables and floor leaves much to be desired.

Came to this Costa (inside Next) and I think I have found my new frequent pit-stop! Unlike my experience at other Costas, I had great service at this particular one (barista was named Matthew). I noticed the food selection has vastly improved and is becoming more worthy of the notorious price tag. Had an nice atmosphere. Was pleasantly surprised.

Nothing much to say, except that it's a typical Costa unit, differentiated only by being inside the Next Store at the London Colney retail park. It's generally clean, the staff are friendly and efficient. My Cappuccino was fine, though nothing too special. Liked the Penelope Polar Bear cake, in a naughty sort of way.

Little to say. Process of the queue was slow. Nothing special but we were able to find a free table with comfortable chairs.

Went with 2 friends and 3 toddler after having food and coffee we left when i went to the car realised that left my sons toy there and went back, when i asked the staFf for the toy she looked at me in a rude way and said don’t forget it again and and clean up after you next time!! I was in a shock i never ever come across rude staff like that!!. I HAVE REPORTED IT TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM.

Costa coffee is my favorite blend, I;m a regular every day loyal customer, but we also visit the this outlet above the Next store in London Colney, the staff are excellent,and extremely helpful., and very welcoming, the presentation and flavor is wonderful, and believe me, I've tried many other Costas and been very disappointed, Well summing up, brilliant shop, and fantastic staff, Many thanks.

The American came with hot milk, although I did have to ask for it, and the latte was the usual effort. The service was average and the tables were clean and the place looked tidy.

Visited Friday lunchtime. Americans coffee as they’ve stopped doing filter coffee and an earl grey tea. Service was fine, swift and courteous.

It is a shame that this Costa is inside the Next store which means that it is restricted to the shop opening hours on a Sunday. If I am ever in the area again I will visit and review

Usually always a pleasure to visit this store but on our last occasion we waited nearly ten minutes just to order and only one customer in front. Also i should not have to clean my own table of cups and plates before I sit down....
