We pre booked for after a show at Playhouse. . It was crazy busy . I no we wee informed 90 minutes for table but felt rushed as was so busy lott of queues &waiting food be replenished that hadx ran out also if wanted the fresh cooked to order foods this can be a prob when busy. Time wise Lot of choice food , good price for cocktails &good with bottomless soft drinks lovely restaurant, we got told we had 5 mins left on our table .so felt rushed. If went again wouldn't book a weekend &defiantly not when shoes on playhouse as far to busy .

For an all you can eat buffet, this was really good. Cocktails were tasty. Food all seemed fresh and hot. Loads of stuff to choose from- Indian, seafood, Chinese, desserts. We were absolutely stuffed after.

Fantastic food, pleasant service and the recent refurbishments looks great. Went for a solo dinner, everyone was welcoming and the food was delicious.

This meal was planned for a works night out for my staff to say thank you to all their hard work over the Christmas period. Overall, this wasn’t a spectacular night out and this was mainly regarding the food option available and the cleanliness of the restaurant. In terms of booking, this was a very easy process with a simple card hold regarding my booking size which was very standard, the overall process was stress free and easy to follow. However, when it came to changing the booking size to less people attending; it took me 3 days and multiple phone calls to the restaurant before actually speaking to anyone about this matter. This was extremely stressful as it states on the booking if not changed within 24 hours of the timing; there will be a £5 charge per head that didn’t attend. Now this is very understandable however frustrating as I was trying my best to communicate with the venue this change and nearly entered within the 24hour deadline line and would not of been happy to pay this fee when it wasn’t my fault. When we attended the booking we were welcomed by a really friendly hostess who quickly sat us all at our table. All staff I interacted with were friendly, cheery and willing to help with orders and food which was great to see. But one of the let downs came to the food options of the restaurant (I have took into consideration my booking was towards the end of close and understand they may not be producing fresh food) however the food that was made available was extremely dry as if it had been sitting out for a while even before we arrived. (Some of us did order a few alcoholic drinks which we thought where well valued and tasted nice and would like to highlight this) And last but not least, the biggest let down and the major concern that was noticed was the large volume of flies that was around the food and table (suspected to be sewer flies) which put a lot of us off from eating. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant again, although the staff where friendly, and it was certainly not value for money

Visited 6/1 as a gift to our young adult children (who chose it) as a pre theatre early tea. I have to say my last experience (when they were kids) was rubbish so I wasn’t looking forward to it and had very low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised! Couldn’t fault it. Good service, food, atmosphere and price. Not mobbed with kids either. So a definite yes from me and I’d go back again. Thank you Cosmo!

Been here many times and never disappoints. We did find the food area smaller than our previous visit, perhaps some space lost during last refurb? All in all a very enjoyable experience. Prawns were delicious. Witnessed some odd pile your plate high like a one chance last supper experience! Service was awesome and we'll always be back when visiting Edinburgh.

Well after reading some of the previous reviews on here of Cosmos I was thinking of cancelling our booking. But glad I didn’t as it was absolutely superb with attentive staff, great choices of food. Some slow moving dishes were warm rather than hot, but most food was very hot and the show cooking station excellent. I had been before about 10 years ago and to be honest it was as good as I recalled back then. We arrived at 5.30pm and was busy so the food would have been replenished often so may be the best time to go. So in summary no issues or complaints from us.

We recently visited Cosmo, excited to enjoy their diverse spread, but unfortunately, the experience fell well short due to one glaring issue—most of the food was cold. While the selection looked promising, with a wide variety of dishes, the lack of proper temperature management made it difficult to enjoy anything. Hot dishes like the curries and the rice along with the mussels,prawns, pizza slices the vegatables on offer were lukewarm at best. The cold food not only detracted from the taste but also worrried me with regards to food safety. We informed a member of staff who said they would pass it on but no one else came back to speak to us about our concerns. The management needs to get a grip on this before someone becomes ill. This is one buffet we will be avoiding when in Edinburgh.

I sat down with my family at the big tables at the back of cosmos the padded chairs. The chairs were pelling. But they had really good Food and the dessert was delicious🤤 and the chocolate fountain was yummy with the marshmallows the marshmallows ran out and the staff were very kind and got some more for me. The waffles were really good especially with chocolate sauce on top. The pizza and macaroni and loads more were very yummy this definitely. I definitely recommend on getting unlimited drink fills because they are very delicious on of the wee ones in my family tried to get all the drinks from the United drink refills to put all them in his drink.cosmos definitely deserves 4 stars .

This is first time I have eaten in here in a long time, I live in Edinburgh and love a buffet but it says it all when I haven’t been in so long. Decided to try it again and it was pretty much. How I remembered it, food was average at best unfortunately and place was really run down. Toilets had wallpaper hanging off the walls, graffiti over eh toilet walls and doors etc. This will be my last visit here, I won’t return here again in future.

We were skeptical of a buffet, but after seeing the rating from all the positive reviews, we decided to check it out. The atmosphere is nice, the service is excellent, and the food is great. Try the Indian food for sure and don’t forget about the chocolate fountain. Pro tip: dip the waffle pieces in the chocolate fountain.

Friends have raved about Cosmo so after a long day at work and not being able to decide what I wanted I thought Cosmo would be a good choice. Staff were friendly and quickly seated me, for some reason everyone was squeezed into one area with the other 2/3 of the restaurant empty it felt a bit claustrophobic and moving around was a squeeze. There was a reasonable selection of food, the majority was Asian cuisine. The British offering of roast meat looked very dry and unloved. The food in general was just not quite right, prawn sesame toast had no prawns, the shredded duck tasted peculiar. Curries watery and lacking any depth of flavour. The only thing with a real kick was the lamb samosa. Everything I ate was lukewarm at best. If you really enjoy food go elsewhere, there’s a lot of pre theatre deals much cheaper and much better. Or just come and eat the samosas and mr whippy ice cream. If your enjoyment of food is based on quantity then this is the place for you. Perfectly pleasant and helpful staff.

This was our second visit to cosmo in a month and enjoyed it just as much. I don't know how there's so many negative reviews as we have no complaints at all. Plenty of choice of food, whenever something ran out it was replenished quickly. Food was hot. Seated quickly. We chose soft drinks which were all we could drink and self serve, love the choices. Favourite food is all the prawns. Prawns in ginger and salt and chilli Prawns are my favourite dishes. Highly recommended.

Visited here between 5-6.30pm on a Friday night. Absolutely disappointed, we always enjoy a meal here so we were looking forward to food before our theatre trip. Lots of empty dishes, each time we went to get prawns in ginger, noodles, naan, prawn toast or chips there were none. Not what you expect at 21.00 each. Tiny cups for water and tasteless cocktails. I won't be returning anytime soon.

Not as good as last time we went. There were a lot of dishes empty so missed out on things we enjoyed eating. As was the desert area nothing there except ice-cream and sweets. Had to wait for a cake to come out from the kitchen. Later found the sweet waffles and they were delicious, but felt let down with the desert area very little there and I like deserts.

After reserving our table I read the reviews and was in two minds whether to go as the reviews were mostly terrible. We have been to a few buffett restaurants so knew what to expect so decided to chance it. I never leave reviews however after reading the negative comments I felt it was only right to give my honest opinion. We dined at 7pm, had a 90 minute time slot, we were a party of 3 adults and one 11 year old child, there is a height chart at the front desk to measure they are under 155cm so there should be no issues over whether you are charged adult or child price. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the food was here, really tasty, curries where decent, not runny, yes things ran out but where replenished straight away, some people are so greedy, maybe if they didn't fill up each plate as much the kitchen staff could keep up, after all you can go back for more. I would imagine when the restaurant is at full capacity things could be worse so maybe we were lucky with the time we chose but overall it was a good experience.

Food was rubbish, been to cosmo in York, York was much better, better selection and nicer food. Sweet and sour chicken on batter was soggy. Wouldn't recommend

Food was as expected, and our 90-minute slot was just about long enough. Unfortunately the plates were all cold, and the serving staff struggled to provide milk with a cup of tea - in the end it came in an expresso cup!

Reasonably good restaurant for world food and you need to book now. It means you get a 2 hour slot and it is never packed out like it used to be. It's definitely worth a visit, especially if you like a large choice

Came here for lunch on a weekend break after recommendations from friends and we were highly impressed. We booked a table, which I'd advise and it's very busy. Staff were friendly and were quick to seat us, bring our drinks and clear tables. Price was reasonable for the amount of food and drinks on offer. Loved the soft drink choices, nice to have something different such as iron bru, vinto and sunkist and the crushed ice made the drinks very refreshing. The food choice was unreal. I couldn't beleive how much their was and everything tasted great. Didn't have to queue much, food was replaced quick when run out. We particularly loved the salt and chilli chips and other Chinese options. Highly recommended and will definitely return.

Okay for the price, was very busy. I had different types of food as you can imagine being a buffet restaurant and I found a lot of it was cold. Spag bol, chicken wings, ribs etc. Something different, but could so easily have been better. If I lived in Edinburgh, the likelihood would be I wouldn't go back but when you consider a small portion of chips around the corner chip shop is FIVE ENGLISH POUNDS then this place does on the face of it look good value for money My wife did like the ice cream as well, so always a good sign

I have visited cosmo twice before but haven't been since just after the pandemic and I was dissapointed with today's lunch visit. When i entered, I was asked to leave my daughters buggy at the front of the restaurant, initially didnt mind this but then i noticed other families who had their buggys beaide them. I fel like there wasn't a good choice of food as many dishes were empty and there was a lack of urgency for them to be refilled. Macaroni was bland, eton mess was warm despite being in a chilled area. No bowls for soup or for desserts. Then i took my daughter into the disabled toilet/baby change. Wallpaper peeling off the walls, the emergency cord in the bathroom was tucked behind the sink then i noticed it was knotted in several places after breaking. For just over £20/adult, it wasn't worth the money and sadly wont be back.

A warm welcome was provided inside a huge and tastefully decorated buffet restaurant. A wide range of food available including Thai, Indian and European. It got very crowded very quickly as soon as it opened and yet, it was relatively easy to select our chosen food food at the various serving areas. The food was hot and of a very high quality An enjoyable dining experience.

Absolutely shocking venue. Food is a 1 at best and that’s being generous. The staff are rude. I’d avoid this place like the plague. Don’t order cocktails, they are poured from a can and you will be charged extortionate prices.
