Four of us had a light lunch here yesterday. We had hoped to sit outside by the lake but it was cold so we were in the bistro which is lovely. We all ordered sandwiches which were delicious and presented beautifully with a small selection of dressed salad leaves . We all had banana sponge pudding with toffee sauce and ice cream - a bit like sticky toffee pudding but even better. The staff were immaculately turned out, and genuinely welcoming and helpful. This is such a lovely place and we will definitely be back before long.

We have been going to Corse Lawn House for years and always find a warm and friendly atmosphere there whether we go for Sunday dinner or an overnight stay. Food is always good and we have stayed in most of the rooms which are excellent. After a wonderful Sunday dinner we found out they are hiring more staff, so do enquire if you want a job in a good hotel.

Genuinely mixed feelings over this hotel...... and the owner made it more than clear... only positive reviews would be acceptable...... Two night stay with B&B. We can see why some people love it and others feel its a little old and stuffy. True the rooms do require a makeover and at night the nightly promenade of other guests close to us .....using their bathrooms and wakening early is awkward and somewhat embarrassing. Perhaps some structural work is required to cut down on this "percussion" noise. Furthermore the hidden regulation of "smart trousers" for the use of the Restaurant might be a little too much for some of the younger age guests................. We wondered if the premises shouldn't be used for an episode of the series The Crown. The staff, however, couldn't be more friendly and accommodating. Our conclusion, for what its worth.... Certain older age groups will love this and return, ..... a growing number of clients probably won't. We'd probably fit into the "latter".... not the former. Go on .... stay and see what you think................

First visit to this restaurant and I’m sorry to say it’ll probably be the last which is a shame as it has the potential to be a fantastic establishment. My wife and I arrived with friends on a Saturday evening for a much looked forward to meal, only to be greeted by a very standoffish waiter and a dining room (the bistro) lit brighter than a night match at Wembley stadium. After my retinas had got over the assault I was presented with what I first assumed was an old folks home only to be told that this was where we were eating. (Very disappointed to find out there was no bingo!) The menu was great but unfortunately every dish came with a huge dollop of unasked for salt. I’d like to say that the waiter came over to enquire how the meal was but he didn’t. I’d also like to say that I was able to quench my now raging thirst with some delicious wine but we weren’t offered the wine list at any point despite a big deal being made of the wine cellar in the hotel description. We all finished our meals feeling quite disappointed and after a very brief discussion as to wether we should say something to the waiter we decided we were all far to British to cause a fuss and just wanted to pay the bill and leave. On payment in the reception we all noticed that the waiter seemed to be double checking to make sure that we’d actually paid the bill and not done a runner adding to a general feeling of feeling very unwelcome.

We ate here recently with friends one Saturday eve recently. The building from the outside was imposing, lovely lake at the front. On arrival we noticed poor lighting, and dated decor, reminiscent of a care home actually. Quite bare and bland. Staff were quite standoffish, we didn’t feel welcome, diffident. Food- good menu and varied but when it arrived we all noticed everything was very salty, almost unpalatable. The waiter never came to ask us how our food was or offered us wine with our meal, we felt almost as it was too much trouble. Tired room, dated and drab, really could do with an overhaul inside. Shame as the basics were there. Food was nicely presented but the taste was totally decimated with salt. Little basic things missing such as ground black pepper on the table only white available, This review may sound petty but to pay £180 for 4 of us, 1 bottle wine at £24 was not the most expensive item. We went away feeling very underwhelmed and disappointed. No we will not return here and certainly will not be recommending to others… there is a lot of competition around.

My family and I have been going to Corse Lawn for 40+ years. After a gap of at least a decade my 80 year old mother met friends their and enjoyed her meal hugely. So my wife and I booked in for that Sundays lunch. The place has not changed at all and did feel a little dated however the welcome was great. At the table we noted that we were the youngest diners by some margin despite being in my mid fifties. The meal itself was mixed. I had scallops my wife had smoked salmon. Both were good. The main course we chose was the roast beef and the Pheasant. The beef was superb, rare, moist and fell apart when cut however the gravy that covered it was way to salty. The pheasant breast was ok, a bit dry with not enough sauce however the confit leg croquets were lovely. The vegetables. Oh dear. Roast potatoes (I think) were soft on the outside and barely cooked in the inside. Comfortably the worst roasties I have had since boarding school. The rest of the veg was ok, just not very exciting. Only the cauliflower cheese lifted the side dishes. The Yorkshire pud was over cooked too. I avoided desert given the meal so far but wife went for an apple and blackberry tart. It was microwaved. Edible but way off standard. We will book this only for Octogenarian members of our family as it seems to suit their expectations however we will not be back.

A lovely way to spend a Saturday evening. The scallop starter was delicious followed by the sweetest lobsters we’ve had for a long time. The chef kindly made additional garlic butter and garlic mayonnaise to accompany it too. Another or the party had sirloin which was well cooked and delicious. Highly recommend for good quality food

Great to see Corse lawn open again We like the “old fashioned “ style and great service we always get As a vegetarian I did struggle on this occasion for a main course so improvised with two starters as a main of asparagus and the scallops delicious! With heritage tomatoes to start very nice. Very good extensive wine menu. It was busy which was nice to see but thus didn’t effect the service.

We were four for lunch, our first get together since lock down, really looking forward to it. We have had some OK meals here in the past and some not so good but it is a convenient half way place to meet our friends. It has always looked in need of a facelift in the lounge areas but nothing had changed. We all chose from the set menu and three of us went for the fish and chips. What a disappointment! Awful dried out fish, a few fries and peas that had been turned to mush. We should have sent the meals back and if it had been just my wife and I we would have done but we chose not to cause a fuss and keep the fourth member of the group waiting to eat their meal. We weren't asked whether we had enjoyed the food so I volunteered that it was surely the worst plate of fish and chips we had ever been served. There was an apology and a deduction from the bill. We will not be going again.

Booked an evening meal, on arrival was welcomed and given the option of sitting at the table or having a drink in the lounge first. We opted for the lounge and had drinks and chose food from the menu. Food was very good, I had mussels to start which were delicious and loin of venison which was perfectly cooked and tasty. Wife had ham hock and cod which again was cooked perfectly. I had pudding of Strawberry trio, sorbet, panda cotta and pavlova, I did have to ask for some cream, well it was strawberries, but it came promptly. Service throughout was excellent a very enjoyable evening, recommended.

Great celebrations call for great venues so for a first trip outside since lockdown AND his birthday my clinically vulnerable husband and I went to Corse Lawn House or lunch. And it was superb. A perfect summer lunch, outside by the pond in the (occasional) sun.Starters were amazing Cornish mussels (for him) and delicately spiced chicken with mango and almonds (mine) Then we both had lobster (also Cornish) with potato salad and mixed veg. He had room for a banana [parfait, I just managed a sorbet mix of mango (yummy) and raspberry (divine). A bottle of riesling from their excellent wine list went down a treat.Service was excellent: swift, assured and friendly. So pleased it is open again, and what a memorable way to celebrate it.

My partner and I attended a relatives exclusive use birthday party in December. We had pre ordered our food some time in advance. Upon arrival we were greeted with welcome drinks - although the options were alcoholic I asked for a soft drink and was fetched an elderflower lemonade which was wonderful. We were all seated and as the food came out we were so impressed. Service was quick and between us we had six different dishes with every single one hitting the spot. My menu choices were all vegetarian and it was wonderful for it not to all be mushrooms!!! Teas and coffees after we’re great with little fudge bites and alcoholic drinks served quickly. What a lovely way to help us celebrate. Thankyou!

My wife and I visited the Corse Lawn Hotel on Sunday Decemebr 22nd, with friends for Sunday lunch, regarded by them as ‘their favourite restaurant’. I had not been there for some years, and my wife, never. Our friends raved about the quality of the food, the service and the ambience so we thought we were in for a treat, but unfortunately it was nothing but a very sad disappointment. The car park was dirty with a very rough surface, not comfortable to walk on then ‘greeted’ by someone at reception who couldn’t be bothered to stand up. A nice table in the bar area where the service was just acceptable but with some delay in bringing drinks. Breads and starters were brought, soup which was quite nice although nothing exceptional. Then we come on to the main courses. There were two selections of the beef, a beautiful looking piece of sirloin, but it was lukewarm at best, with a rock-hard Yorkshire pudding, again warm only. A meagre amount of roast potatoes, yet again hard and warm and then the vegetables. We were promised a selection, including carrots, of which there were none, leaving only cauliflower cheese and broccoli. Staff were told that one of our party was vegetarian so you can imagine her reaction to this ‘choice’. By now we were not looking forward to pudding and sure enough, the Christmas puddings were cold and hard which came as no surprise. Sadly a visit that won’t be recommended to friends and acquaintances.

We celebrated our Golden Wedding here with a lunch for family and friends and it could not have been better. From the very beginning when we were planning it with Mrs Hine, the owner, nothing was too much trouble - even a late change to the menu and an even later change to the numbers attending. The food was outstanding, delicious, served hot and with more than enough veg to go round with the main course. Cannot understand why a previous reviewer didn't like the lemon posset, I and many other friends agreed it was "to die for". Plenty of coffee after the deserts too.Service was first class - attentive, prompt and friendly. And the sun shone too - what more could one ask for!Several of our guests stayed overnight and all agreed the rooms were marvellous, very comfortable with lots of luxurious extras. And yes, breakfast is leisurely, but it's all cooked to order and I'm told the home-made sausages and the fresh fruit platter are outstanding. We'll be back - but maybe just the two of us next time.

We arrived at the hotel for a 2 day stay and were shown to a delightfully comfortable room with really classic elegance and a charming outlook - a real Wow factor! I read their literature including how they have traditionally placed great emphasis on fine dining. We booked a table in the Bistro and ordered some local sirloin (which was the most expensive main on the menu) only to receive the worst example of a steak and chips that I have ever had. The meat was flavourless, chewy and full of gristle. The chips were thin ordinary frozen items which were excessively pre-salted and stuffed into a mini stainless steel chip basket on the plate (like a chain pub cliché). The quality of the premises and it's aspirations had lead me to expect something above par - this was below average.Breakfast was served in uncomfortably formal surroundings and everything has to be ordered and delivered to your table. After waiting 15 minutes for hot drinks, I thought I would time how long it took for the orange juice to arrive - it was another 7 minutes. All this delay and the haughty atmosphere made me feel uncomfortable and insulted -was the waiter treating us badly because I was not wearing the required dress code?( I was wearing chinos and casual shirt ). Breakfast was alright, but again disappointing given how my expectations were raised - croissant tough (kept warm too long), sausage hard / flavourless and the colour of my mushroom omelette was grey We didn't dare ask for any ketchup! Although we had paid for the second day breakfast, I preferred to check out early and grab a coffee elsewhere rather than eat average food in an environment where I felt unwelcome. The three stars are all for the accommodation and reception staff - who were all very helpful and pleasant. The accommodation was brilliant - but the food and its service was a big disappointment.I should add that all things are subjective and if your idea of a break is more formal than mine and you relish slow relaxed methodical service, you might very well enjoy the experience more than me. But that doesn't excuse the steak!

Very disappointed with my lunch on Sunday. I asked for my sole to be filleted which they said they could do but it was so full of bones I could not eat it. It also came with capers and samphire, both which I love, but only a large dollop of capers was on the plate, very disappointing, it was pointed out but no real apology or adjustment to the price. The dessert of plums was only 1 plum, a bit sad. Normally good place but not on Sunday.

I took my wife here for a cream tea. Booked in advance as requested on the website. The picture and list of the cream tea looked superb. When we arrived there was no at reception, and no staff to be found. I eventually found a young waitress who ran off to find a waiter! I asked for the cream tea menu to be told there was only one cream tea? We duely ordered it, when it arrived it was nothing like the web site acclaimed picture, the sandwiches were dry on the outside and the scones that hard my wife found it inedible. There was no sugar so I went to ask for some and again no staff to be found, it was like the Marie Celest. When I went to pay I told the waiter we were not overly happy with the service nor the cream tea. He said that I could speak to the manager, he told me she was in reception, I duely went and explained that the cream tea was not very good, And that on the menu it said £20 for what was listed and not £20 each. She then told me she had only typed that up because I asked for a menu??? She gave no discount or apology but only a glance to an older lady ( I take to be the owner) sat on a chair. She told me the bill was in the bar. I paid and left this abysmal establishment. I have included a pick of the web site picture and what we actual got. You view it and see if they are like for like. I take it that the pre booking is so the chef can make it up before her finishes at 2pm and leave it to dry out before it's was served at 4pm to us. Thank you Corse Lawn House for spoiling a birthday treat for my wife. It was certainly not the quality they boast

This Queen Anne building that is a 3 star hotel felt as if it should have a higher rating but maybe the fact that the staff go off duty at 11pm is the reason. Slick service, superb dinners, comfortable room with all the extras such as fluffy white dressing gown and toiletries and dog friendly too. Excellent. A quirky thing is that there are tea leaves and coffee grounds - no bags or pods - but with the state of the planet maybe these old fashioned ideas are exactly what we need. We have eaten here several times before but our recent experience was that standards had slipped. We had the set Bistro menu. I chose the beer battered whiting which was tasteless with soggy batter. The chips were good. My husband's beef was chewy and short on sauce and the vegetables soft and overcooked. Lemon possett was my pudding choice but it was not what a posset should be, soft and creamy. this was firm as if it contained gelatine. My husband had the plums, which actually consisted of one plum. cut in half and filled out with biscuits. certainly not worth the money. The service was good but we were presented with someone else's bill. We shall not quickly return as we feel standards of cooking have declined and it is overly expensive.

Corse Lawn is a wonderfully relaxed hotel which is also warmly welcoming. They know how things should be done but avoid the austerity that can sometimes accompany this. The food is both interesting and of the highest quality. Lamb casserole could be a bland dish or a cheap cut of meat at some establishments here it is a dish of succulent meat in a well seasoned sauce accompanied by beautifully cooked vegetables. I tried the salmon which proved to be another well conceived and executed dish. All thoroughly enjoyed by our party of four. Desserts selected were the banana tempura and sticky toffee pudding. Again dishes delivered with aplomb and thoroughly enjoyed.

Lovely setting and if it had been warmer we could have sat outside by the pond. Ate in the bistro from the set menu. The soup of wild garlic was delicious with croutons to add. The chicken livers were tasty and not a huge portion. The cuttlefish was described as interesting. Mains of chicken in Madeira sauce and salmon went down well. Supported by mixed veg and new potatoes. We had one pudding if banana tempura between us. Nice! The cooking was confident and service good. It was nice to get fresh bread and some Parmesan appetizers with the meal. Overall a nice lunch venue in a calm atmosphere

We celebrated our ruby wedding anniversary here with lunch for 30 people including 4 young grandchildren. We had a private room and had met with Mrs Hine in advance to discuss the "event". We enjoyed sparkling wine and canapes on arrival in the area adjacent to the bar and then had a 3 course sit down lunch which our guests had chosen in advance . Everything went very well and everyone commented very positively on the hotel and the quality of the food. The service was very good.... as we have come to be accustomed here. We will definitely be back (it is one of our favourites) and can recommend the hotel without hesitation

We had a two night stay and loved this place. Everything about it is high quality and the service is above reproach. Our room was spacious and well furnished in traditional style with fresh ground coffee, leaf tea, homemade shortbread, fresh fruit, and fresh milk provided. Our reception was very friendly (none of your pre-authorisation of credit cards here) and nothing was overlooked. The food is excellent (we used the bistro) with a good wine list and even included kipper kedgeree for breakfast. This is an old grade 2 listed building which they keep exceptionally well and furnish very nicely. It is quintessentially English and we loved it. We stayed on the first weekend in March and the hotel was full - I expect that it usually well occupied so booking early is recommended. Our booking was with Secret Escapes and we got excellent value.

Never eaten in the Bistro as always dined in the restaurant on previous visits. The setting is more relaxed but the food is jst as good and service equally impeccable. Shall be spoiled for choice on our next visit.

This is the second time we have visited the bistro. Once at lunchtime & this time in the evening with friends. The hotel has two restaurants this is the more relaxed of the two, but the service the service and food is lovely none the less. The service is excellent nothing is too much trouble, they are very welcoming and helpful without being over the top. The food is also excellent, the set menu is very good value for money as three courses of the main menu can be a bit pricey. Looking forward to going back especially in the summer as the location is lovely.

Hadn't been to the hotel for at least three years so was unsure what to expect . It turned out to be truly wonderful to be back. A warm and happy welcome, a lovely classically English bedroom , dinner and Breakfast that could not be faulted , kind and caring service and a rather challenging wine list which resulted in us drinking two bottles of rather excellent claret and three glasses of superb Port ... cant remember if we then danced round the lawn at midnight!!! All in all this is a very special hotel and meeting the owner who has been there for over 40 years was the icing on the cake. She was the epitome of all that Corse Lawn Hotel is and should be so proud of !!!!!

Fantastic hotel , second time we have stayed there this year. Great twin bedded room on the ground floor. How nice to have sheets and blankets instead of just a bottom sheet, no top sheet and then a duvet.super food in the restaurant, set menu for dinner first class, more than adequate, breakfast absolutely scrummy, superb bacon and beautifully cooked poached eggs. Service throughout the hotel fantastic, everyone very friendly and helpful. Will certainly be back next year, good location for visiting the Malvern Hills

Stayed here for a short break.Arrived to a very warm welcome, staff all very friendly with nothing to much trouble. Rooms very large with large ensuites and immaculate. A nice touch is the fresh coffee with a cafetière, tea(leaf with strainer),fresh milk with homemade biscuits and fresh fruit in your room replaced each day.Breakfast was amazing even the yogurt and marmalade was home made! We got back in the evening and even the bed had been turned back. Have stayed in more expensive hotels that could learn a lot from this hotel. Highly recommend this and will return if we come back to the area in the future.

This place has slipped since we first visited three years ago. The waiting staff vary wildly in their command of English, with one waiter simply backing away with terror when asked a question. The food was nothing I couldn't have rustled up at home. Extortionate prices for what is at best just pub grub served on fancy crockery. The time warp charm and quirky service only works if underpinned by excellent food. Which was sadly lacking on this occasion.

The main restaurant at Corse Lawn House Hotel, a family owned country house style of hotel, set well back from the main road with an impressive carriage drive entrance. The restaurant is first class, serving top quality ingredients, nicely prepared, and presented with flair and imagination served by a team of efficient well trained waiting staff. Fairly priced wide range of wines available by the bottle or glass, with the main emphasis on French wines. Also has a Brasserie for more informal/casual dining.Generous parking facilities in the hotel grounds close to the main building.Highly recommended, and one definitely to return to.

Our first visit to Corse Lawn...for Sunday lunch. Briefly, this is a spot on traditional type venue for Sunday lunch...service was exemplary....all courses of our meal were quite superb. This is not a 'gastro pubbed' type place...the setting, place settings and service were all as one would expect from a restaurant like this. My only 'criticism' of the whole experience would be that it was very, very hot in the dining room!...it was a warmish day for October...the room was pretty full...and phew, an extra window open would have been most welcome. We fully intend to return...to sample the dinner menu.

I stayed here with my wife just for one night and it really exceeded expectations. The food was superb and would not be out of place in a top restaurant. The room we stayed in was huge and spotless, with old world charm and some very thoughtful touches like the jar of cookies and bowl of fruit. I must also add that the service was impeccable and all the staff were very well trained, but beyond that, just plain helpful and friendly. We will definitely find a reason to return as soon as we can

It's so nice when establishments refuse to follow the herd and "modernise" their dining rooms or drop the formality that can make dining out a special treat. Proper silver cutlery and spotless white tablecloths combine with smartly dressed staff to create an elegant place to dine. This would count for nothing if the food and wines were below par but have no fear - the cooking is professional and excellent with no corners cut in preparation or presentation. The wine list is extensive and realistically-priced. The dress code is "smart-casual" so it was a shame that there were a few male diners who obviously thought they were too important to make an effort to get out of their gardening clothes. This is a shame as there is a less-formal bistro restaurant on site where the food is equally good.

We came here for Sunday Lunch at this fine old building set in well maintained beautiful grounds. The service here is very attentive and there is a good varied menu both set and a la carte. We settled for the traditional roast beef Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed the cooking was first class on all the courses, along with service and surroundings made this a very pleasant meal.

I have eaten at Corse Lawn on many occasions in both the Restaurant and Bistro and never been disappointed with the service or the food. I also tried there afternoon tea , sat outside by the pond for a friends birthday - lovely setting and tea. Also an excellent venue for a small intimate wedding and wedding breakfast - we had 28 guests and the organisation was great.

After such a great Saturday experience we felt slighted by being treated as second class guests for Sunday lunch! In the lounge we were offered the menu, booked a table and chose to eat at 145: no one came near us to offer canapés or a drink or take our order: when we asked we were told that we were expected to eat in the bistro which was no problem but wasn't made clear as we expected to eat in the main dining room. Food was fine.

We stayed at the hotel while attending the Three Choirs Festival in Gloucester. It proved an inspired choice as we were just 20 minutes away from the Cathedral and we were able to return each evening to quiet and tranquility. We had a spacious room with a large bathroom. It had all the comforts with good wifi. It is an old traditional hotel that has that feel about it but the facilities were good and the staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent. We would recommend a stay and will return ourselves.

Very pleasant start to evening by sitting outside enjoying a drink. Food was very pleasant but the service was what you should expect from a well known and long established hotel - first class. Interior could do with being freshened up but will certainly not leave it long before visiting again.

We ate in the Bistro more casual than the restaurant , a lot of choice on the menu .So much so that we kept changing our minds on what dishes to choose , however all were excellent when they arrived.Really good fish soup , potted crab and filleted sardines to start ,calves liver cooked just right ,very fresh whole plaice and other mains were good accompanied by godd selection of veg with really tasty local new potatoes .Service is well timed and unobtrusive , bistro runs like a well oiled machine and good to see the Hines family still in charge after so many years .No wonder it was so busy on a Monday night .

Corse Lawn offers a ' Bistro' in addition to their main restraunt offering a wide variety of options. The Bistro has snacks, a smaller 'specials' menu, along with the Ala Carte, There is a good wine list reasonably priced along with complimentary taster & bread. The food has been very well cooked and flavoursome on each occasion I have eaten there. Often busy, there is no feeling of being rushed through the meal, with time to ponder between courses without seeming to wait.My only criticism is down to staff training. During my last visit we were not asked during the meal if all was ok. On clearing the main course my wife commented on the problems with my liver only to be given a long story about how difficult it is to cook and othe irrelevancies. I had hoped for just an apology - a complementary coffee would have been nice - alas this time I ended the meal there !

Driving back from a day out with friends, we were looking for a place to have an evening meal. My husband remembered Corse Lawn from several years ago and suggested we stop for a drink and check it out. WELL, what a lovely place this is. Unfortunately it was raining so we couldn't take advantage of the beautiful garden, so made our way inside. After looking around a bit and viewing the menu, we decided to have our mail in the Bistro. The meal was outstanding, and very reasonable. 17.50 for 2 courses, and 22.50 for 3 courses. The menu was extensive, food beautifully prepared, lovely to view, and very tasty. We have made reservations to go back to celebrate a friends birthday. An ideal place for a special celebration!

Staff are extremely friendly and always up for a great laugh. Portion sizes are very large, great value for money. Wide range of drinks to suit either a quiet night out or even a messy one. Amazing atmosphere all around be it in the restaurant or the bar. I discovered this little gem on accident, it was a very happy accident and I will be returning without a doubt. Thanks Garry and team

When we got there, we saw a sign that said 'overflow car park'. Absolutely accurate, the river had overflowed into the car park, which was now a pond. Service was a little slow to start with but then improved. Food was excellent, so was the company and the atmosphere. Defo going back some time.

All fine - nice people, nice coffee and croissant, nice place. Recommended. Don't sit to the left of the forecourt space if you don't like the smell of patchouli that comes from the adjoining shop.
