Posted a parcel here on 25 July. A birthday gift for our son. Never arrived. Went in to tell them. Post woman said I have to wait 90 days before I can claim. She did not offer me a form to make a claim. Left and went online. Says, have to make a claim WITHIN the first 80 days of posting parcel . After 80 days you can't make a claim. If I listened to her, I would have lost out. Should know how to run a Post Office by now ! So aside from being extremely overpriced in the shop and dangerous parking, they don't know the first thing how to run a post office!

Not a friendly atmosphere, i get the impression as long as you are a daily lorry driver or an old dear living in the village that they cannot be bothered with the general public, or if you go in every day and spend lots of money. The young girl on the Post Office counter was helpful and polite but no smile appeared on her face. I think as well that the women working there generally do not like other women.

This shop has a well earned amazing reputation. Fresh food delicious range fabulous. General stock of household basics that you'd expect from a Village Store. But holds so very much more... crafts, gifts and cards, local produce, home cooked food from baked goods to meals prepared to go. Its always clean and tidy. It's a family run affair, service is always friendly. They get involved with events in the local community as well as doing various fundraising activities themselves each year. Sadly due to covid-19 they lost the tea room, but you can still enjoy the tasty offerings as takeaway. Can't praise them enough. A must if you're in the area.

The sandwiches are awful - nothing in them and overpriced. My son got me a turkey roll from here and it was barely buttered on even one side and it had the smallest, thinnest piece of turkey imaginable. I could get 2 packets of the meat down at the next village for less than this abysmal roll. I will not make that mistake again. However my husband and my son rate their cheese pasties and I know my husband takes some into work in Kelso for some of the people he works with who also like them. I have had one and a chicken pie and both were almost cold and I could not eat them. So I don't buy from them at all. There food seems to be almost cold whatever time of day you buy it.

Saw a sign north of the village and called in as we travelled south from Coldstream. Cars park sideways on to the A road it seems. The shop in front of the cafe was interesting with some great meat pies and similar products and various upmarket food gifts for visitors/tourists as well as necessities or the village customers. However the cafe at the back was distinctly average we thought. Local groups occupied most of the seats and we sat in a corner. The well-worn card menu was perused and some minutes later a person appeared from the kitchen. We spent c£10 on two Cappucinos and two toasted tea cakes. The coffee was absolutely unremarkable and not up to Costa/AMT/Wild Bean standards. The service was just on the side of being pleasant but we left thinking we were treated as yet another passer-through who will never come back and that is probably true.

A friend told me to try this shop, recommended the pies. What a surprise inside. It's much bigger than it looks. Supermarket, lovely gifts, make ideal presents, and a wonderful cafe/coffee shop at the rear. I tried the salmon sandwich, yummy and an excellent selection of cakes. Staff were very helpful and attentive.

After a recommendation from my aunt, we stopped off here for a late lunch. We initially went inside but as it was a nice day the staff suggested sitting outside on the benches. We got our order taken and in no time at all we had our 2 macaroni pies, a coffee and a cream scone all of which were delicious! We also bought 2 other pies to take home as they stock some unusual varieties. All looked great. A must if you are nearby!!

An absolute gem on the Holy Island! We stopped here to grab a sandwich, some cake, and a drink to take with us as we explored the island. The customer service was excellent, the owner was an absolute delight and super helpful. The food is delicious, and a really good selection too! And on top of all that they sell maps and books of the island as well, it really is a must visit and a one stop shop for everything you need on your island adventures!

Fantastic!! Service, food and value, 6 of us all had different meals. All served together piping hot, huge quantities and absolutely gorgeous. Couldn't manage a pudding but they looked fabulous too.

Stopped in for breakfast on the way to do a walk at Kielder. Loved the place. Fantastic , well cooked , quality breakfast. Decent size and good value at £10.50 including toast and a brew. Couldn’t fault the food. One of the best breakfasts we’ve had. Ticked all the boxes for us. Dog friendly. Liked Falstone so much did a walk from there instead of Kielder and came back to the Old School for dessert. Bread and Butter pudding with cream or custard ! Although I was tempted by the Old School sponge. Thank you for a lovely experience
