We visited on a lovely sunny early November late morning. The coffee shop is in an excellent location, opposite a car park -£2 for the day in winter and only c 70 yards from the sea. It is well appointed with plenty of tables and we had a nice window one looking out to the town. We just had a coffee and cake, both of which were very good. The lady suggested we had a half shot latte as we don't like it strong and she even came to check that it was ok which it certainly was. The sandwiches looked good and the food and drinks were very competitively priced. I am amazed at some previous, what I would call nasty reviews. It seems popular with the locals with a nice ambience and we couldn't fault it - we will certainly be back.

It is a wonderful cafe with a wide range of food and drink options. Sandwiches or toasted sandwiches are delicious with many choices of fillings. Hot and cold drinks to refresh yourself. The cafe is clean and well maintained, and the staff are wonderful. The desserts are delicious with a fair choice to pick from. There are toilet facilities on site should you need it. This is a family-friendly place and well visiting.

This is the cafe you can’t get into 1 Without bring shouted at 2 without being made to feel small 3 Because you never know when it’s open - 9.30. Ish to 2.30 ish- COME ON WHAT ARE YOUR OPENING HOURS? 4 Need a thick skin to not be offended by the aggressive notices on the door. The best thing that could happen would be for a new beach restaurant to open to show proper customer service.

Wd by chance found Broadway Car park, & thought 💭 oh lovely lots of space to park! We arrived at the Corner Cafe to collect the keys for the Beach Hut we hired by booking on line., the staff were very friendly and helpful. My friend and I had our dogs with us so we were very happy to sit outside as it was a lovely Sunny Sunday. The lady came out to serve us & brought us the keys etc We ordered a fresh cream Scone and a coffee ☕️ We didn’t have to wait long. The fresh cream Scone was absolutely delicious! The fresh ground coffee ☕️ was lovely and smooth. We would definitely recommend eating here. We will definitely be back, soon we hope! The lady asked if we knew where the Beach huts were, we didn’t! So wd were pleasantly surprised when she pointed over to them, as it was directly opposite the car park! Brilliant 🤩 x

Would we come back?.....absolutely, and we plan to.

Visited during the school cummerbund holidays, yet we’re disappointed over the food served. An expensive meal when you think about it. Ordered three sandwiches (one being a panini) to be served with two sad looking pieces of bread on a plate. Lacking any form of salad garnish or anything to warrant the cost of the meal. Shame, as this cafe is in a prime location and could see a huge boost in custom. Whether it be a lack of thought or simply a lack of interest/care, higher standards of food are required. This is not the first time we have visited and been disappointed over the poor quality of food. Typically, when ordering sandwiches at cafes, salad and small garnishes - nothing over the top or massive - is served also. Would recommend if desperate and hungry in Sutton-on-Sea, however if not, look elsewhere!

Customer service is non-existent and the older female member of staff lacking in any social skills/manners. Visited with my wife, children (6 & 9) and our dog (all well behaved).....everything they obviously don't like. We only likely got served as we sat outside. My wife and children were sanitised enroute to the toilet and my one child told off for finishing the milk out of the milk jug which came with my tea. If you fancy an experience like no other then give it a go....just brace yourself! We won't be visiting again....once is enough.

Didn't even fully make it through the door. The old lady was rude and uninviting. Quizzing us as to what we wanted as we stepped through the door. If that wasn't bad enough she had sanitiser in hand and was seconds from squirting all over my children's hands. We do not use sanitiser for health purposes. As we didn't use the sanitiser she marched us to a table. She barked at my child who was trying to find the toilet to wash his hands as he was made to feel so uncomfortable for not using sanitiser....hes 6! What an old witch. I'm amazed this hole makes any money at all. My advice...a customer service course or even a new job as customer service doesn't seem to be your thing. It was old and dated and felt stuffy and uptight and i couldn't wait to get out. Safe to say we didn't purchase anything from here. Go 5mins up the road to mablethorpe to Lady Bs. Amazing service!

An example of how NOT to run a business. Rude staff, place was virtually empty inside yet a big sign on entrance saying full and no seating. I asked if that was a mistake & was told " no we are busy" in a very aggressive tone. Seriously it's a joke place. Turning away customers for no good reason. I noticed hand written signs all over the place. Seems they're also still covid obsessive as well.

Had the pleasure of eating here today. The place was very clean and airy. The staff polite and attentive. All seemed good. The food was as described and tasty, had a sandwich, but honestly, it appeared to have been made with supermarket basic bread. The sandwich also would for the price have deserved a few crisps and a bit of side salad. Went to the loo to find a note on the hand towel dispenser advising that if you accidently remove more than one hand towel from the dispenser to dry your hands, then please put the other towel on top of it for the next user. I courtesly only used one hand towel. A while later after we had our sandwich each, we heard the boss and staff say "there were 14 screwed up unused hand towels in the bin. Do you think it was the fat lady?" Don't they think that their sign might have antagonised people? Shame, as it could be a really good place to eat.

Partner had toasted tea cake with cheese as ever it before which think was ok. No real issue with staff chap seemed friendly enough, lady was a little lacking in customer service skills. Did hear them whinging about other customers that had visited recently to customers sitting in cafe when we were there which isn’t professional. Won’t be returning though.

Sign should say'Ouch Soreface Ern' or similar Fawlty towers. If you want a Basil experience this is the place. The cafe was empty bar one customer (you'll see why)Opened the door greeted by a chair saying wait to be seated due to covid (fair enough) but the chair is in such a place that my mum was stuck in the doorway..we couldn't close the door and come in. The one customer in getting treated to the drafts. So my mum squeezed in on the side of me to shut door. Cue Basil 'No don't stand there you'll get sand the floor' Then Mrs Fawlty added 'Give your feet a good wipe on the mat due to the sand'Did track and trace filled out in book. The couple working in the cafe were clearly having a dispute...we were treated to the argument. I was ready to leave mum said to stay.Basil was uptight apparently. Perhaps the cafe inspector was due or a moose had fallen on his head. It can't have been the three customers. We only ordered a pot of tea and two teacakes. As the food was arriving two more customers opened the door. One was in a mobility scooter. Basil's response was 'No No No can't have that in here the floor won't take it' Disability Discrimination. You decide?Ate and drank. The tea was actually good.Upon leaving I invited Mr Fawlty to come and get the money from the table to save his floor (black and red carpet tiles). He actually did come and get it I didn't leave a tip but here are a few.1. Consider laminate flooring to sweep up sand easily.2. Consider a cafe not by the seaside to ensure no sand.3. Consider locking the door to stop customers getting in.4. Build a big step to stop prams and wheelchairs 5. RetireNeedless to say I won't be back.I mentioned the floor once but I think I got away with it.

Went recently to this cafe and ordered A Caffe Latte that didn’t taste of steamed milk and tasted more like water and sweaty underpants. Very disappointed I must say and was expensive too with minimalistic presentation and no miniature biscuit. Additionally the young waitress was rude and the older waitress with red short hair even ruder. It also took ages for them to come for payment sat waiting to pay, it was only when we stood up that they came ,bearing in mind that they hardly had any customers. The older waitress told us their hygiene standards were exceptional but we didn’t observe any, my glass cup didn’t even look clean, decided to go across the road to the Sea Breeze to eat instead, where we received excellent service. My advice to people thinking of visiting this cafe don’t! Visited this cafe today with my little family. Greeted by a gentleman ( owner?) who gave us the most unfriendly welcome “dogs not allowed in. We already knew this dog was being tied up outside anyway. My daughter has a severe milk allergy and he just glared at me when I asked what was available and said we have gluten free... not quite the same is it?? We ordered drinks to be polite. The waitress bought them over and tipped a full mug of hot chocolate about an inch away from my daughters face. Not only could this have burnt her but the contact reaction from the milk would have been terrible. Instead it went all over my dress and burnt my legs. At this point I walked out of the cafe my husband explained but no apology was given. He had to ask for money back as no other drinks had been touched and this was slammed on counter. I will not return and wouldn’t recommend anybody with children especially with allergies to use this cafe. It was very clean to be fair but to the point of obsession. Nearly walked out - after all what meal am I likely to want at 9 a.m? It felt as if I had upset her by asking for something unreasonable - in fact I hadn't even spoken. Luckily I saw a sign saying they do bacon rolls (isn't this breakfast?), these were served quickly, very tasty, generous serving and not expensive. Asked the lady for a white coffee, "instant or filter" she asked so I asked for one out of a machine and what I got was a cup with a filter on the top full of hot water. Not a problem as I knew what this was and found myself a seat. After a minute or so I took the filter off and realised that the coffee was black, not a problem as I went to the counter to ask for some milk - OH MY GOODNESS - I was greeted "you asked for it black and now you want milk". I was a bit taken aback and politely said to the lady that "no I had asked for a white coffee but this is not a problem just pass me the milk please". Once again "you asked for it black and now you want milk"!! I said that she was the host of the coffee shop (joke as no coffee shop now that I know should offer a customer instant coffee) - she then went into a blind rage of "No - I am not going to start my day off like this, you are not spoiling my day and roll on September". I will never darken her doorstep again.

One added bit attraction for us was the fact that there was a 'no pram' policy -- the negative comments made by two previous reviewers were precisely the reason that we were attracted to this place. Keep it up!!!

Popped in here for a cup of coffee mid morning upon arrival in Sutton on Sea after a two hour drive from Nottingham. Good range coffee to choose from and just wish we could have been tempted to devour the wonderful looking cakes on display. Great warm and friendly service from Proprietor Michael. Interesting décor on the walls and worth taking time out to read up on the history of this establishment.

I visited this coffee shop with my husband and 2 children daughter 2 and son 6. My husband wanted to visit as he used to go there as child over 30 years ago and remembered they did amazing Milkshakes. When we got there I noticed a big sign saying no pushchairs assumed it was tiny inside so ignored it. We decided to sit at back as it was spacious and no one was sitting there so if the kids were a little loud they wouldn’t bother anyone. The menu was basic but fine for lunch. My daughter was a little restless so wandering around but in a space she didn’t run she sat and played! My issue came after we had eaten and my daughter was a little restless but was close to our table. The issue was the owner kept running through the cafe pushed my husband one way and then on the way back my daughter had got up my husband grabbed her as he saw him running through but he didn’t stop instead he hurdled her then tripped over his feet and fell over. Of course we were very concerned and checked he was ok but his wife then came out put blame on my us and my daughter saying “I don’t why parents let their children run around”my daughter was not at fault and on leaving I told her so but she wasn’t having it. Safe to say we won’t visit again no matter how good the milkshakes are.

I visited the Corner House today as a special treat for my Mum who has recently been ill. We were made to feel most welcome by all the staff. The coffee shop was spotlessly clean and the food was delicious. The service was excellent - very quick service and always with a smile. We were given as much time as we wanted and did not feel rushed.

Back in area visiting family and took my aunt to Sutton for a quick visit. Popped in here on an impulse and so pleased we did. Great cappuccino and a nice big pot of tea (with extra hot water). My tea cake was great, and my aunt really enjoyed her toasted sandwich. Have to mention the wonderful friendly and helpful staff who were working there. Very chatty and welcoming, both with us and with other, clearly regular, diners. Lovely atmosphere.Thank you

Stepping in off the street we had no idea what was waiting for us.The menu is quite basic (not in a bad way) hot/cold drinks, limited selection of sandwiches and cakes. But when they're this fresh and presented so nicely you don't mind- better to do a little and get it right than over stretch and get it wrong!Nice and clean especially the toilets.Orchestral music playing in the background, washing over you while you wait. Ideal for a catch up with friends or to escape for some me time. Nice to be able to read about the family history behind the cafe.Only two negatives, cash only- 2016???The owner was ranting to some regular customers about some holiday makers she had had in- not very professional.

We had just popped into Sutton on a day out down the coast from where we were staying. The coffee was very hot and tasty. The cafe has lots of character and has obviously been part of Sutton heritage for a long while. I did find the service rather curt especially when an older couple came in and as they were sitting down minding their own business were told we don't do breakfast - they only wanted a drink ! The food and drinks were fine and tasty and the young girl serving was very pleasant - not the same can be said for the older staff.

My first ever review...SETTING THE SCENE : I had high hopes for this café in Sutton. I had driven my two primary school age children from Nottingham (over two hour drive) for a day at the seaside. We had spent a lovely day enjoying the beach / park / gardens. We had taken a picnic for lunch and then wandered round the local shops for an explore. Having visited the local traditional sweet shop, we then ventured to the " Corner House Coffee Shop" as I explained to the children " Mummy needs a cup of tea before driving back home ".EXPERIENCE : I ordered a simple pot of tea for one from the young girl at the counter.Neither children( 10 and 7 years) drink tea or coffee or wanted anything but a drink of water so I then requested two glasses of water. A lady sitting at the counter then instructed the young girl to charge 20p per glass of water. I was astonished! I said in a surprised tone " You aren't really going to charge me for a glass of water ? Surely not? " To which I got a curt reply from the lady at the counter (clearly the owner Shirley) " Don't you pay for your water at home? How do you think we can balance or books? People come in here and order one cup of tea and six glasses of water? " I stated that I thought it was illegal to charge for tap water and said that I could get the children's water bottles out of the bag...to which the lady replied " no you can't do that, it is food and drinks bought at these premises only". I was so shocked that I was : a. being charged for tap water b. clearly providing for my two children c. spoken to in such a rude tone of voice (and the young girl too)OUTCOME:My understanding having read up on this now, is that if an establishment is licenced (which the Coffee House states it is online on it's website)...then it is illegal to charge for tap water. We will not be returning.Unfortunately this experience has led me to write my first review due to a poor experience not a good one.

The residents of Sutton on Sea, and visitors to the area are lucky to have this excellent coffee shop so close to the town and to the seafront. We were visiting the area for the first time and called in for coffee - it was a good decision. Freshly made, good coffee served with a smile and plenty of time to chat to us customers. The menu looked interesting and if we come this way again we would certainly call in for a snack or lunch as well as for the coffee.

The service has declined since we last dined here. Little touches have disappeared. The wine is now plonked on the table and initial glass no longer poured. I had the lamb wellington, and was somewhat disappointed to receive 2 small cubes of meat. It was very nice though as was the rest of our meal.

Tucked away between the large venue's across from happy days club but if you do spot it well worth a visit, next door to a chippy. Run by working class folk with a friendly attitude and friendly prices. Our favourite is the Sunday carvery with generous portions and to top it all comes with a pudding included in the price. A good extensive menu at affordable prices for families and couples. Large table's, good seating but what make ginghams our favourite is the helpful friendly staff and atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Have had the set Sunday lunch on several occasions. Quality of the meal has been fairly consistent. Today however, the experience was overshadowed by some very nasty custard! It sounds very picky, when the rest of the meal was fine, but watery, lumpy, tasteless powdered custard with the crumble, took the edge right off...
