Cork & Bean in Test Valley

I popped in here first lunch, on a recommendation, and was suitably impressed.....will definitely return. I thoroughly enjoyed the mushrooms on toast with added poached egg - considerably elevated above what you might normally expect! And it's a nice location, particularly if you like people watching.

Absolutely delicious breakfast!! Good, busy atmosphere. Service was good but chicken Rosti breakfast was so so tasty! Loved it!

I brought my granddaughters here for breakfast during half term.The waffles were the best we’ve ever had! Lucy looked after us really well too! We loved the hot chocolate and coffee as well Nice one Cork & Bean!

What a hidden gem! I don’t often leave reviews, but this place truly deserves recognition. We visited Romsey for the first time yesterday and, by chance, stumbled upon the Cork & Bean. We stopped for a drink, and the attention to detail and wine knowledge was outstanding. It impressed us so much that we decided to return for dinner—and I’m so glad we did! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We opted for the cheese and charcuterie sharing board for two, and it was absolutely delicious—truly a standout experience. It’s a real shame we live an hour away because this place has quickly become my new favourite venue. Whether you’re after coffee and cake, wine, or pizza, the atmosphere and overall vibe had us buzzing with excitement. We’ll definitely be back, most likely with the kids in tow next time, but the passion and love behind this little haven really stood out. Well done to everyone at Cork & Bean, and thank you for making our child-free night away so memorable!

What a wonderful little place. Perfect for a cuppa and cake in the afternoon or a cracking Friday night Pizza and wine. Staff and owners are brilliant. If you like a chilled out place and able to have a chat and laugh with the staff, this is for you.

Thank you Simon, David and the team. I visited twice over the weekend and everything was superb. I had to rush for a train on the first visit, so was offered the chance to have the remainder of my drink to takeaway. Today my brunch was delicious and the menu was plentiful. It was hard to decide what to have! I’m looking forward to the next monthly Sunday Roast in December!

Great food, very reasonably priced and great staff. David, Lucy, Lucy and Nazar were all incredibly friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. I’ll certainly be making this a regular spot!

Our regular start to the weekend.

Posh pizza was supposed to have blue cheese...it came smothered in too much cheddar....very soggy and saturated with grease from the cheese. The taste of the cheese completely swamped everything else. My husband had a pizza with pepperoni but also had far too much cheddar cheese on it. We only ate half of our pizzas.

Absolutely love this place! Great food, friendly service, and the atmosphere is genuinely amazing. You can sense that they put an incredible amount of effort into trying to make people feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

An incredible place - the best cheese scones since cheese scones were invented, and a host of other tasty things to have with a good coffee! Customer service goes beyond great… if you sit outside in the cold there are infra red heaters, hot water bottles and blankets to keep you toasty. Inside is great too. Even the toilet has piped tropical birdsong and a nice aroma. How’s that for attention to detail? I enjoyed a long and enthusiastic conversation with the chef/owner about his exciting plans to trial Sunday roasts. A richly deserving recipient of my “Go there at once” award :-)

second visit and still impressed. Very welcoming. Great friendly atmosphere. Waiter Sam excellent and very aware of the customer needs. He saw us waiting for a menu and although he was by the kitchen, he came immediately without us even asking. First time we went we had tea and cakes (fabulous) - this time it was a great brunch. What a great place this is and the owners are so so friendly and on the ball running a great business.

The staff looked after us brilliantly, nothing was too much trouble, even for our dog. The food was great too.

The food was pleasant we have pizza only because that's all there was the other menus were only for lunches and breakfast. The service was very pleasant but they ran out of four separate things for one of our guests who every time they order something we then got told later oh that's not available always run out or not in stock. Rather than list what wasn't available they listed things that apparently were and then we were told they don't, It almost became a game of what do you have? The staff are very pleasant and facilitated us with the bill being split although it was done manually not electronically. And indeed this presented no problems when came to payment, music was fairly loud and completely repetitive it was the same track over and over however I probably would go back though it wouldn't be on my list of must go places

Fun decor, trendy feel to the place. Staff were accommodating. Food was tasty and fresh. The menu was pretty limited and was on the pricier side. It was a good experience and would recommend the place.

Great place for a brunch ,lunch, or just a coffee. Indoor and outdoor seating. Even supply blanket and hot water bottle.out side in the winter or cold days. Pay parking close by. Great service highly recommended.

Love this restaurant with its quirky decor, attentive staff and excellent food and have been back several times with various friends. Would have given 5 stars if the music hadn't been so loud during last visit. I had to ask the waiter to turn it down so we could hear what he was saying about the specials. He seemed surprised when we said we had come for a meal to talk and have a catch up. He was quite good natured about turning it down. Will be back soon!

Whenever we visit Romsey we always have lunch here and it’s always delicious. We had the flatbreads and they were lovely. Love to sit under the canopy it has such a nice atmosphere. Here’s to the next time.

We have only moved to Romsey a few weeks ago but have been here 3 times, staff are excellent and very attentive , the breakfast is delicious and a good portion size, coffee is lovely, we took a homemade cheese scone home on our last visit and it was superb. Can’t wait to return and have recommend to friends.

The service was amazing and staff were so friendly and funny. The food was also stunning. It is a little expensive but honestly the price is worth it when the quality of the food is so good and the service is lovely.

Amazing food and service! Came for my mums birthday and the staff bought out a candle and slice of cake - which was delicious. Sat outside and it was a little bit chilly - they gave us a hot water bottle and blankets. Shoutout to the two Tom’s!

Visited on recommendation of someone and liking the look of the place when walking past before. Sadly was disappointed with the visit. The menu online is a bit misleading as doesn't fully match the actual menu on offer. What we felt was disappointing was the value of the food. I had a quiche and husband had macaroni cheese, both for £15.75 each. For this relatively high cost for lunch we had expectations that weren't met. The macaroni cheese was barely more than starter/side dish size with ok bread, didn't feel great value for the cost. Same for the quiche, I'm not sure what made this almost £16. With a scone for my mum and 3 soft drinks it was almost £50 for lunch for 3. I did mention the disappointment with size of dish when asked by the server at the end but just got an uninterested 'I'll let them know'. I don't mind paying higher prices when it feels worth it but this unfortunately didn't.

Wonderful service and atmosphere

Very busy when we arrived but we were able to get a table and we were attended to quickly. The meals were excellent, almost too large, and the coffee was very good. Service was quick considering how busy it was.

Came back to C&B for a networking event on a Friday night. It was a great turnout and everyone said it was because of the choice of venue in Romsey! The service was so prompt and efficient, and the wine and nibbles we had were just delicious! Thank you everyone at C&B 👍🏻

Although my friends and I happened to come in at a very busy time (Saturday morning), staff were doing their absolute best to serve us our food and drinks as soon as possible. Everyone is lovely.

First visit today and this is now our favourite in Romsey! Great staff and amazing Gluten Free options, don't be put off that they don't list them on their menu. Food was lovely and will 100% be going back to this little gem.

Sunday 28/01/24 booked a table for 5 for Breakfast today. First time visit for us all and it won't be the last. Gorgeous food and lovely atmosphere. Excellent service all round by everyone, many thanks from all of us👌 - we'll be back 👍.

Lovely staff here, but the food was very poor and the service took ages, apparently some of our order "didn't print". Food was mostly lukewarm/cold when it arrived.

We frequent the Cork & Bean very often and love the food/atmosphere. It's fantastic that we have this little gem in Romsey. The hospitality industry is in tough times at the moment and we need to continue to support the independents. Simon and David: keep up the great work.

Sadly the food is over priced and badly cooked. This restaurant used to be good but unfortunately the standard has slipped drastically, we will not return.

Ate at 5pm on Saturday and it was amazing. Booked table lunchtime. Welcomed by name on arrival. Lovely warm place and we sat on the sofas. Food smelled heavenly and tasted even better. Smokey pizzas 🍕 with soft drinks. Served so hot🔥, fresh ingredients and tasted amazing. Elderflower bubbly drinks with ice. So clean and the staff respected that we were in full natter mode with little disturbance. None of the keep coming back asking how things are. Even the other diners were busily chatting but we were not aware or could tell you anything about them. We will be back for the whole starter, main and pudd but we needed a light meal to fit with our evening plans. Will definitely be going back. Some people were sat at the outside tables and they were clearly staying a while.

Visited with my sister and her boyfriend for coffee and scones. Lovely coffee and great raspberry scones served warm. Great service too by one of the owners who explained the bill and other things they do in the evening - pizza nights etc. We had a little chat about Romsey too. Enjoyed being served by the good looking young man in there who had banter ;-) Will be returning soon.

I visit here regularly with friends and family and realised I have been remiss in never posting a review on this wonderful place! Whether it's a visit for a quick coffee, brunch, lunch or an evening meal platter (highly recommended!) I always thoroughly enjoy the delicious locally sourced food and the fantastic owners and staff who are always friendly and chatty. A good selection of items are on the menu and a specials board with interesting and tasty meals. Thank you David and Simon and team for making Cork and Bean such a great place to visit. (the lime and soda here is the best I've had!)

Brilliant food with gluten free options, incredibly friendly and professional service and we were even given hot water bottles so we could sit outside. Highly recommend.

What a lovely friendly cafe. First trip and we took our 3yr old granddaughter. Baby chino, coffees and a tasty slate tray of pastries with jam. Cafe is beautifully decorated and furnished and our granddaughter loved the singing birds in the toilet!😂. Very good service . Highly recommend.

This place was recommended to me by a friend who can be pretty critical at times food wise, therefore a recommendation from him is to be taken seriously. He was spot on, a really wonderful lunch, superb food and extremely friendly and attentive service.

We were travelling to our holiday apartment and met our friends en route at Romsey. We stopped at Cork and Bean for morning coffee and we were so pleased we did. All the staff that served us were friendly, attentive and fun. The cheese scones were delicious and there were a lovely choice of pastries, cakes and scones. Beautiful decor made it a lovely place to be with a great atmosphere. Thank you- what a gem in Romsey.

What a lovely way to spend a wet Wednesday afternoon in Romsey. Had tea and a truly memorable cheese scone. This is a great place with fantastic customer service. We have never been so charmingly asked to move on when it came to closing time (4pm)

A great and accidental find! Coffee was delicious, cake was fresh and also delicious. Wonderful friendly staff. Will come back to Romney just to come back here! Not the cheapest but worth every penny!

What a delightful lunch spot. We were charmed by the staff and thoroughly enjoyed the food (a wonderful light cheese scone with cream cheese and onion marmalade - a great twist on a traditional dish). The service was so friendly and professional and the prices very reasonable. Don't miss the destination loo!

I have to say what a lovely friendly place to have breakfast 😋 It was amazing me and my wife and our little dog enjoyed it and we will be visiting again, Nice to have tea and get a top up of hot water without charge they do put service charge on bill but pointed this out before we paid and said if would like it removed happy to do so....All staff had friendly and smile on there faces why working 😊

This was a surprise day out with friends all around the town & then to eat We knew about this venue that we had eaten in before & was so pleased with it had to share the experience The venue is so tastefully decorated even the toilets are amazing The food was so delicious recommend the quiche with salad and sauté potatoes how unusual to be offered sauté it was so delicious One of the best menus on offer around the gin and tonic drink I ordered to drink was just the icing on the cake. It came with berries ice lots of ice absolutely amazing The service was excellent gave us the best attention we could have wanted we will be back After sharing the photos of the venue to my friends they want us to bring them here to Well done management

Excellent dog friendly place for a bite to eat or just a drink. Lovely variety of food and cakes! Dogs are allowed inside and out and there is even a doggy menu! We will be back!

This is the best place in Romsey hands down. We’ve also hired the venue for a 50th and it was very well done indeed, awesome evening had by all.
