Hard one to review and it's such a mix of great and less great. The place itself is in the sad tired and rundown wharfside shopping centre in the old New Look shop (this causes issues later discussed). To get to it from the main car park (you have to pay for), you need to get an escalator, stairs or lift. The escalator was busy and fenced off, both lifts broken with a staff member from Iceland (the shop below) saying they very rarely work. So taking the stairs it was. Which were disgusting. Blood, glass, rubbish. Not a great entrance to the restaurant. Yet once in it's lovely. Great decor and a really lovely vibe. Really well done so no bad echos and a lovely busy buzz. And the staff were fabulously friendly and lovely. A real credit to the place. Our orders were taken promptly. But we were never pointed to the specials which were on a concertina'd board that we didn't ever see. The starters of pork belly, beetroot and scallops were all excellent. Then things started to go a bit so so. From having an individual waitress at the start we were then switched to a weird system of either no one checking on us for 15 mins to three different staff checking for drinks in 90 seconds. Then mains. The £29 steak was poor quality meat. I'd asked how chef would prepare it and they said medium rare (as they always do sadly). But it was served medium to medium well done. No pink. The pasta dish was dry. And one member of the party asked for a main of scallops but was told no. So she had two started scallops. Which you would have thought they would at least put on the same plate. But no. Three people. Two courses each and two drinks each. £185 including tip. But with it being a New Look there appeared to be no extractor fan..coming home afterwards clothes absolutely stank of stale dead cooked animal. Took me back to days of smoking allowed in pubs. So a hard one..some brilliant..some not. And, while it's not their fault, when you have to pay for parking and the access is broken and rundown, you can see why people dine in our of town pubs and bars... I do wish them the best as the pride from the front of house folk was exceptional even if the food didnt quite measure up.

Overpriced with Tiny Portions. I left the restaurant hungrier with a 90 pounds dent in my pocket for two people. Also needed seasoning

This was a real find, we ate twice in three nights! The service was excellent as was the food. Particularly recommend the Hake and the crab pasta. Nearly everything was GF. The honey afragado was also well worth having! Front of house lady was very welcoming ( so sorry we didn’t catch your name)

We had our Easter dinner as a family at Cork and Fork. Finally no fried, fatty dishes :-) Fresh vegetables, fine aromas, special taste variations. Our children also enjoyed eating with us. Nevertheless, traditional elements such as Yorkshire pudding were not left out - very sophisticated. That was really an experience! The tropical crumble was with wild berries and without rum, pineapple or similar, but instead of my father, I just ate it :-D and it was super delicious. Special requests such as smaller portions for the children were also taken into account, which was really great and family-friendly! The ambience is a bit loud and stuffy. There was some airing in between, which was good, but maybe you need to think about air conditioning. Due to the open kitchen (great, transparent concept), the entire restaurant is full of food fumes. Thanks for the great taste experience in Cornwall

Restaurant discovered by chance and we were pleasantly surprised. We are often disappointed with restaurants in England but not this time! The fish (sole) was excellent and the crab pasta too, very close to what you can find in a good French restaurant. Even though we hadn't booked, the waiter made sure to find us a table while we had a drink, very nice staff!

Attentive front of house staff even though it was busy and lots of walk in customers and it was only two of them but we were very well looked after. The food was delicious, the hake was the tastiest ive ever had and the mackrel starter was perfect. The food was served quickley and beautifully presented however we certainly didnt feel rushed,we were hungry so both glad! Definately will be paying another visit,we travelled from falmouth especially! Prices very reasonable and portion sizes left you full with high end presentation! We enjoyed the nicest evening at Cork and Fork. My wife and I enjoyed our one night evening in Penzance with a dinner of Filet mignon with peppercorn sauce and a delicious Hake fish dinner and a scallop appetizer. The Tempranillo wine was delicious and reasonably priced. We finished with a yummy crumble. We watched te chef work and his dedication was evident. Our waitress Danny was so delightful and friendly as was her colleague. They both made it a very special evening. It’s in a shopping mall location up an escalator, so don’t stop looking for it when you arrive at the address.

Following an earlier check of this restaurant in the day and with limited options due to very little being open, we decided to return later as discussed with a waitress. In our arrival the owner informed us she was closing and the advice given earlier was wrong. Eventually she decided to allow us in. We chose our food and with me having an allergy the sauce to my chicken dish was changed. Starters were ok however the mains weren’t great, the chicken was tough and sauce barely visible, had it been that very little options were available in Penzance I wouldn’t have eaten it, no point complaining although hind sight being a great thing should have. We finished up got the bill £130 paid and left, not averse to paying high price for good foot which this wasn’t. It also appears that the manager doesn’t like criticism or feed back however; my advice if you decide to go before they close don’t, a kebab or pizza might be a better choose it definitely would in this occasion🤮

Just had an absolutely delightful valentine's dinner at Cork and Fork! 🍽️ This restaurant and their staff were lovely and welcoming. As a coeliac it's quite hard to find a place to eat that feels safe, but everything in this restaurant is gluten free! and the staff were very knowledgeable (the waitress serving me and my date also had coeliac so I could tell I was in very safe hands.) As for the food, it was delicious! Me and my date had a wonderful 3 course meal with appetizers and drinks too and everything complimented eachother to perfection. (Still thinking about the chocolate ganache and raspberry sorbet I had 💞) And it was so nice to be able to share with my date without having to worry about allergies or cross contamination. And again, the staff were so welcoming and lovely, (and, as a lesbian couple, they were very LGBTQ friendly if that's something that you may worry about) it really made our evening perfect. Thank you Cork and Fork for everything 🥂💘

This is the second time I have been to Cork and Fork, Penzance. Once again, both the food and ambience was delightful. I had pate followed by mussels. My husband really enjoyed his meal too and we shared an affogato at the end. Staff were very kind and attentive as usual. We will definitely go again. The only change I would have asked for, would be if the 'smeech' from the hot grease burning somewhere in the kitchen could not be quite so strong in the dining area - my eyes were quite sore by the end of the evening. I feel bad even mentioning it because overall, both the food and service really are great. We had a lovely evening.

I am coeliac so it was incredibly reassuring that the whole of the menu was gluten free, no chance of cross contamination. It was the best meal I’ve ever had in Penzance. The restaurant was beautifully lit, comfortably warm on a really cold windy night and spotlessly clean. The staff were really friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. We decided to book this based on the reviews we had seen about the outstanding food and arrived on a Sunday around 5:30 as stated on some of the reviews. It’s on the edge of a bit of a rundown shopping centre but don’t let that put you off it was one of the most amazing meals I have ever had, I decided to go top end for the fillet steak. I normally like my steak as a steak but this came out with lots of decorated things over it but boy did they taste nice accompanied with a glass or two of red wine this may not be the cheapest restaurant you will go to, but it is certainly worth the money you will pay , the service was absolutely exceptional though it did slightly as the restaurant got more busy as you would expect.

I hope the locals discover it soon as it is definitely worth a visit. My wife and I visited the restaurant on August 13, 2024. The overall impression was really good. In short, the food was excellent, presentation and taste, I will remember. But I will also remember the waitress who showed us into the restaurant and refused to change tables as we did not prefer to sit near the refrigerators and toilets and we had bags with us, nothing new for tourists. Unfortunately, she did not introduce herself. I would understand if the restaurant was full of customers, but three tables were occupied apart from us. The bootle of red wine has broken being taken from the shelf next to fridges and left some marks on my bags. That's another reason I dont like to be sat next to fridges or wine shelfs. During our meal, another couple asked the same waitress who served us to change tables and they were moved to another table in the blink of an eye. My wife and I both work in the same business and if anyone from management reads feedbacks, consider training the front of house staff as they seem quite cold and unable to build a good relation with the customer which would be appreciated considering the work of the kitchen does and the pricing you charge customers, they are not the lowest they are not the highest on the market but they are still committed to present at least the same level as the kitchen offers for food. I will add that the table we asked about did not have a reservation mark and she didnt offer any other besides. I also checked the reservation system as we have been informed the table we asked for was already booked, and there is no mention of reserving a specific table, at least that is what it seems to be my experience, you reserve a visit not a table. I am very disgusted by this act, probably in our sports clothes we were classified as lower class customers who do not require such attention. That is why I left a 10% cash tip for the kitchen and did not leave a tip for the front of house. Probably this is the only reason I will not visit again this restaurant, even when spending 100£ for dinner I wouild like to feel exeptional. Perfect kitchen and poor front of house. If you prefer food and don't care about everything sorrounding, ok if you pay attention about details go somewhere else food cant cover all experience. This restaurant's weak is front of house.

The stand out feature is the friendly staff who has such a positive and welcoming attitude. In particular is the lady who seems to be a leading staff member though I’m not sure entirely sure- she always has a lovely smile and takes the time to explain the menu options. The food met my expectations and the desserts were fine. I wouldn’t describe it as super cost effective but definitely meet the standards. The atmosphere is great too, cozy and inviting. The “crab and scallops” is a nice starter, but slightly expensive (14 pounds for 3). The mussels, Fregola, and honey affogato are all perfect, especially the Fregola, a new taste for me, creamy, sourness, with the smell of garlic and coriander. Service is excellent, as well as the environment, open kitchen also shows the confidence of using good quality ingredients and cleanliness.

I think we had one of the best fish in UK at Cork and Fork. The staff were very friendly and welcoming us with children. Fresh seafood, great selection of wines, and variety of dessert. We highly recommend dinner experience here! (Japanese follows) I came to the store with my child, and the service was very kind. The seafood was very fresh, the wine selection was attractive, and the desserts were delicious. A highly recommended restaurant for dinner in Penzance. Reservations recommended.

Brilliant place. Food was amazing. The chicken with wild mushrooms was absolutely delicious. A brilliant bonus point - it is dog friendly!

I live in Newlyn, so believe me, I KNOW about fish. I've walked past the Cork and Fork for several years and the menu never attracted me, far too meat-based (I'm a Pescatarian). Recently, I noticed that the menu had changed (obviously new owners) and was more fish-based, so when our younger daughter was down from Brighton for a visit, we thought we'd try it out. SO glad we did! I had line-caught Mackerel as a starter and the trio of fish (Hake, Red Mullet and Hake) for my mains. The Mackerel was lovely and the horseradish cream not overpowering. The fish cooking of the trio of fish was outstanding. My partner was a little disappointed with the amount of seasonal greens accompanying her hake dish; she told the waiting staff and within a couple of minutes, they brought us an additional side of seasonal greens. The sour cherry and pistachio cake was to die for; moist, but crumbly. I NEVER have a dessert when I go out for dinner, but that dessert....WOW! Waiting staff lovely; ambience, relaxed and welcoming; food, excellent quality...what's not to like? I understand hat they're relocating to the Wharfside soon....I'm definitely following them 😀

What a lovely place and lovely staff. I have gluten and dairy sensitivities, and they were very kind to accommodate me and still provide fresh and delicious food! I had the sole fish with roasted potatoes and grilled veggies...all cooked to perfection. I even had a 2nd serving of the potatoes cause they were so good! If you make it to Penzance, UK, make sure to try this place!

The food was delicious really fresh, I had the trio of fish was perfectly cooked, followed by the Cornish Honey affogato which was perfect as a dessert and a pallet clensor... I even managed to complete the Cornish experience with a bottle of Cornish wine which was really refreshing. The staff were so polite and made the experience even better...if you are in Penzance or the surrounding area I would recommend this restaurant!!!! Absolutely top notch!

Dinner menu interesting, food good. Expensive relative to overall experience. Better options elsewhere.

Cork and Fork has earned its spot near the top of the Penzance list of restaurants. The choice of ingredients has been very well done and the portion sizes are sensible, meaning you can fit in three courses if you're keen. (We were.) The wine list is decent and at fair prices. And the service is polished but not stuffy. All in all, a very pleasant way to spend an evening. Definitely not the cheapest place to eat but it definitely felt worth the money. Oh - and do ask the staff about the history of the building! ;-)

Lucked out finding this gem. We were walking all over the area looking for seafood when we stumbled on my favorite kind of restaurant--locally owned, great food, thoyghtfully sourced from local purveyors in a comfortable setting with great service. I wish I could eat several more meals here. The local crabs are different from the ones I am used to on the west coast of the US and not as sweet. The shellfish platter is still not to be missed.

Our first visit but certainly not our last! What an absolute treat this was. The food was so delicious, I actually tried to eat my hake very slowly to make it last as long as possible haha! The service was also great and super friendly. It's a wonderful place. We had a great Friday evening meal here :)

What an amazing find. We kept seeing people rave about this place so thought it was time we tested it out…. We were not disappointed! Menu options are fantastic, two members of our party are strictly gluten free and this wasn’t even presented as an issue as the majority of the dishes are free from gluten. The owner even said they hoped to make all of these dishes gluten free in the near future … phenomenal! Local produce, great staff, fantastic wine list and beautifully cooked food. I cannot recommend it enough plus they even stock their own honey from their own bees. Can’t wait to return, we have already booked in again for a couple to weeks time. We had: Sea food platter, chicken with truffle sauce, mackerel with burnt orange, scallops, hake & steak. I think we also had almost every dessert between us! Sour cherry cheesecake, posset and affogato were by far the favourites Fully recommend!

I came here with my partner a week ago today. Although the staff were friendly and the food was to a good standard...there just really wasn't a lot of it and I hate to say it but I left the restaurant still feeling hungry. Our three course meal came to around £130 including a bottle of wine. The 3 scallops were cooked well but I certainly wouldn't describe them as large in size. The fish chowder on the specials board was again enjoyable but I feel the dish was 'filled out' with more new potatoes than anything else. The chocolate gnache was delicious but it was quite literally just a slither on the plate with a tiny dollop of clotted cream. Yes the food was nice but was it good value for money? Definitely not. My partner went to the shops after our meal and got a cheesecake with ice-cream that we both ate once when we got home.

I came here hoping to support a local business, especially with Starbucks charging £5 a coffee these days. Unfortunately, I ended up paying £5.10 for a coffee that was half the size and not worth the price. Bit disappointed.

A fantastic stay in a picturesque location, beautiful views from the rooms and restaurant. Friendly welcoming staff and clean rooms. The dog welcome box in the rooms is a brilliant idea aswell as the room names with references to the hotels history. Safe parking under the hotel which even managed to fit my van inside. A nice green area to the side to walk the dog in the morning was also useful. We have stayed once to see friends and it was so nice I stayed again a couple of weeks later for work.
