A Decadent Delight: A Night at Coq d’Argent I'm not one to typically pen reviews, but my recent experience at Coq d’Argent was truly exceptional. For over a decade, I’ve yearned to dine at this iconic establishment, and I can confidently say it was well worth the wait. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were greeted with warm hospitality. The service was impeccable, with our server (a gentleman with a kind smile and black-framed glasses) consistently attentive and enthusiastic without being intrusive. The ambiance was sophisticated yet inviting, setting the perfect stage for a memorable evening. The food was the star of the show. The pulpo was tender and flavorful, the lamb shank was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and the dessert was simply divine. On a whim, we were even treated to a private tour of the stunning gardens by the friendly security guard, Joseph, who shared fascinating insights into the history of this 26-year-old gem. Coq d’Argent is not just a restaurant; it’s an experience. A must-visit for anyone seeking a truly special evening.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Never seen anything quite like this. Walked in for a drink, waited 15 minutes to get a menu(which we had to grab), and another 15 to order. Coffe machine cleaned one hour before closing. Refused to make a cup of tea…………… Place pretty empty. 10 staff hanging around. Got served the bill before even having the drinks….. Highly NOT recommended if you want to have a good time. HOSPITALITY N/A.

A very unique restaurant location. The setting is atop of London's financial hub-bub and almost amongst the clouds. Delightful decor, charming staff (mostly) although the most grotesque food. I had no idea it was a French eaterie and was utterly appalled at the sight of fellow diners tucking into snails.... and such expensive snails to boot! I for one, refuse to spend money on something I can scrape off of my shoe for free. Glancing at the menu, and then the prices, I almost went into cardiac arrest.... A trifle exorbitant would be an understatement. The ambience is usually delightful, although it depends who is in charge of the music system that day. Repeated listens to dire vocalists like Charles Aznavour, Sacha Distel, Marcel Mouloudji et al does grate after a while. The accordion loses its charm after it features prominently on an entire album of ditties about baguettes. At one point, my party and I were reduced to hysterical laughter as the theme tune to 'Allo 'Allo! was piped around the select venue. Unfortunately, this delightful location is also plagued by another problem other than the cuisine. The celebrated 'viewing platform', which gives spectacular birds eye views of the city, is occasionally used by some diners to end their life. Since it's opening, several people have leapt to their doom from this roof garden platform, yet no manager has authorised any price reduction for the menu. I cannot help but remain astonished that any diner here, having decided to plummet to their death after their Arctic Roll, still paid for their meal!

Great food, although the fries are a letdown. If you're doing Wagyu and pair them with fries, they would need to be better than what you get in McDonald's. The staff were amazing. Would definitely come back.

We arrived just as they opened on a Friday evening and got a table for 2 with no reservation. There was a themed drinks menu and chalet-style setup for the outdoor patio, which looked lovely, but we opted for the indoor dining room. Service was impeccable. The butternut squash and chestnut soup, beef tartare and lamb shank were exceptional. The room was quiet enough to enjoy our conversation with ease.

Beautiful and picturesque location and decor. Service was very slow, we unfortunately spent 3 hours at the restaurant as long waits between courses. The food was okay - mediocre. I wouldn't say the food was really special but it wasn't bad. The environment didn't match the food quality and service. Side dishes were over priced for something quite plain.

Excellent restaurant, excellent vibe, a staff eager to please. A great place for a leisurely lunch. We had shared plates of escargot, octopus, French fries with a side salad. The side salad was tiny and certainly needed to be larger. The escargot was delicious but could have been a bit warmer; the octopus was very tender and it’s always great to have piping hot fries on the side with a dipping sauce. I definitely recommend the restaurant and the staff is extremely nice.

Me and my date met up in the heart of London for a one in a lifetime Coq experience. We ordered 8 bowls of the restaurants special Coq noodles, they tasted salty and savory like some good Coq. They also moved a couch to our table since we didn't fit into normal chairs, that was very nice of them. All in all it was an exquisite Coq experience, would recommend. :3 UwU

Poor. Interior decor and toilets are rather dated, lighting and music didn't fit or generate a cozy atmosphere. The steal tables and chairs on the terrace felt cheap. Must point out however, the dining tables were set up proper and tastefully. Service was a mix experience, the initial drinks were really slow at the terrace and there were a couple of servers who weren't the friendliest at the dinner area. There was 2 ladies that was professional and provided the appropriate service. The truffle tasting menu at 120£ per person was quite a disappointment. It wasn't terrible, decent at the very best. Lastly, the crowd was a mixture of the expected fine elegent diners but on the other hand, there were also a few "road man" type who most definitely did not dress or behaved in accordance to what this restaurant supposedly protrays it's reputation to be. Put everything mentioned above together, a 2 star rating overall, unimpressed and not reconmended.

I wanted to enjoy the viral business lunch today, unfortunately the steak was no longer available. First disappointment! The service at the beginning was very nice and attentive, unfortunately the lady who served me at the table was rather inattentive and the service was, if anything, just ok! No fork when she brought me the main course, no smile, no question as to whether everything was to my satisfaction. All things I expect in this price range. In the end the lunch cost €40/£34, you are not asked if you would like to tip, 15% is simply calculated without any choice. Water £5.5?! The food was very good, although little! Tastes great!

I visited for lunch on a Thursday with some colleagues. The place was very busy with both indoor and outdoor seating fully occupied. Noise levels were borderline excessive. A starter of beef tartare failed to impress with the accompanying egg yolk being tiny and overcooked (not runny). My main course of roe deer was only slightly better, as the meat was a bit tough albeit it did come in a nice sauce. The more enjoyable parts of the meal were the fries and the chocolate truffles served at the end. Service was not bad, but it did take a while to get our main courses. I can’t comment on value for money as I wasn’t the one paying the bill. Overall I was not impressed. This place seemed to be trading on its past fame and clearly remains a very popular destination for weekday city lunches, but there are certainly better options around.

Coq d'Argent: A City Oasis for the Time-Conscious Connoisseur In the heart of London's bustling financial district, Coq d'Argent offers a haven of culinary excellence, even for those with the most demanding schedules. Recently, I had the pleasure of experiencing their express lunch service, and I was astounded by the quality and efficiency of this offering. From the moment we were seated, the experience was impeccable. Our waiter, Greg, was the epitome of attentive service, seamlessly guiding us through the menu and ensuring our meal was perfectly paced to meet our 30-minute timeframe. His friendly demeanor and proactive approach were truly commendable. The "express" nature of the lunch did not compromise the culinary artistry. My filet, bathed in a decadent wine reduction, was a revelation. The meat, cooked to a perfect medium-rare, was exquisitely tender, melting in the mouth with each bite. The accompanying fries were a study in textural perfection – golden, crisp, and utterly irresistible. While the crème caramel dessert was a pleasant conclusion, it did not quite reach the same heights as the preceding courses. However, this minor quibble was easily overshadowed by the overall excellence of the experience. Coq d'Argent's express lunch is a testament to the fact that fine dining can be both swift and sublime. For those seeking an exceptional meal within the constraints of a busy city schedule, this establishment is an absolute must-visit. The combination of exquisite cuisine, impeccable service, and remarkable efficiency makes it a true gem in the City of London's culinary crown. Highlights: * Impeccably tender filet with wine reduction * Perfectly crisp fries * Attentive and efficient service (Greg the waiter deserves special mention) * Excellent value for money * Ideal for a quick yet refined lunch Minor Note: * Dessert was pleasant but not as memorable as the main course. Overall: A highly recommended experience for discerning diners seeking a swift yet sophisticated lunch in the City.

This was hands down the highlight of our trip to London. I’m already planning to go back on our next visit. The experience was so incredible that I completely forgot to take any photos of the place, the food, or even ourselves—we were too immersed in the moment. It was truly unforgettable. My husband and I can’t wait to return and reserve every dinner there because they really know how to cook a steak! I genuinely regret not having pictures, but the memory is enough. I highly recommend dining here—whether for lunch or dinner, it’s an experience you won’t forget. Don’t waste your money elsewhere; this is the place. You won’t even think about the price because it’s all worth it—the food, the service, everything. If I could give more stars, I would!”

Yesterday, I visited Coq d’ARGENT restaurant, just a short 5-minute walk from St Paul's, Liverpool Street, Cannon Street, and Bank stations. This lovely restaurant has an amazing rooftop garden and bar with spectacular views and serves delicious French food made with fresh ingredients. We were there for a lunch meeting. I chose the Poussin, which is grilled baby chicken with red wine jus and pommes frites, along with a bottle of Italian rosé wine. For dessert, we had Paris Praline cream profiterole and Fondant au chocolat noir, which is a warm dark chocolate fondant with pistachio ice cream. What I liked even more was how clearly they marked gluten-free dishes with a pink marker to avoid mixing them with other orders. Fabio, the manager, was very attentive, as were the other staff members. I strongly recommend visiting this restaurant and their rooftop bar. #doctorfoodielondon Nick

Went here for a client lunch and ordered Entrecote. This has been the worst cut I have ever eaten. This is supposed to be a premium cut but was far from it. It was full of thick fats everywhere. And, couldn’t ask for another since it was a client lunch and it would delayed us all. Also waiters should be mindful not to be asking how things are every 5min - it interrupts the whole flow of business conversation. We are not booking here again as the experience for a work lunch was subpar and not reflective of the steep prices. GBP 41 for a beef cut that was not premium is draconian.

Coq d'Argent was recommended by a friend after she saw beautiful London Skyline roof terrace photos on instagram. So I set about booking a table for 4 on the terrace for 2 colleagues birthday celebration. To get my moan out the way quick; where we were sat (on the terrace) did not have a stunning skyline view at all. There was no view. But that is the extent of the disappointment! We all had 3 courses and shared a bottle of wine, and the split bill came in at £86 per person with service charge, which I think is reasonable for London! I enjoyed the snails (6) for starter, which was rich and garlicky and just the right size. Others went for the Burrata and the Goats Cheese parcel. Feedback on the tomatoes were that they were a little hard (maybe take out to rest a little longer). For main, I enjoyed the special, which was half a lobster. I did need to remind the waiting staff that it was meant to come with fries. The other dishes required sides to be ordered separately; the duck and tuna tartare. The sommelier was very helpful and knowledgeable. For desserts, I went for the very instagrammable apple, and another friend went for the equally instagrammable lemon. The others enjoyed the chocolate fondant. Something I really appreciated about this restaurant was their relaxed attitude towards bread, if you wanted more, they brought it; free of charge. How it should be; this shows class! They also recognised our friends birthdays with personalised plates with petit fours for each- a really lovely touch. The restaurant is clean, the staff are lovely, and I would return. If you don't know the Bank area very well, don't rely solely on google maps- it is slightly hidden, with a lift to the terrace- very easily missed!

We ordered our food and the waiter did not even mention drinks and neglected giving us a drinks menu so we had to request this. Terrible service from start to finish. Only worth going for a drink on the rooftop bars which is lovely. Restaurant - Service is some of the worse I’ve experienced in the city. Waiter was rude, asked to order a bite and a starter until the final guest arrived. Waiter was shocked and asked us if we wanted mains. We repeated we were waiting for our friend so wanted some bites until they arrived with the intention to order then. Waited over 30mins. Nothing came. Felt as though we were ignored so got up and left. Something ive never done before. The city of London is full of wonderful places to eat. Choose one of them.

Unfortunately for the first time in 20 years I have to say they let me down in front of a potential client. The half lobster was ordered and it had to be the smallest with only 2 bites at £30 it was embarrassing for a main course. Order something else trying to keep eating whilst your client is eating by making the most of the bread is not a good look. With a future client complaining is not the done thing!!! Disappointed not what I have come to rely on you for, has to be food, atmosphere and service and tonight you missed the mark

Superb evening at this restaurant. We were a group of 16 and the staff were attentive without being intrusive. Food was served in a timely manner to everyone without delay and was delicious. Could not fault the service or the food. Fabulous.

The location is so lovely but the service is appalling. There are more people greeting you at the door than there are serving you. A simple glass of wine took 20 min to arrive.

Exquisite rooftop bar with a very subtle entrance via a small life. But when you reach to the top floor, it’s very specious has spectacular views of central London. They don’t have a huge variety of cocktails and mocktails but overall the atmosphere is nice.

I very much enjoyed my breakfast sat outside. It is a real treat to sit outside in London and not have traffic noise (as you're high up). The service was great and the food tasty. I really like this place and will be back...oh, I already have another booking in the diary!

Delightful food , shambolic service , empty restaurant , zero atmosphere ….here is why London is in a mess …13 guests for lunch with 140 plus empty seats …service slow …was joined by another friend and waited 13 minutes for glass of wine …as we were ending up was embarrassed to be asked to leave at 4.35 having spent £300 as they wanted to lay table for dinner …utter bunch of clowns …was old favourite but treating clients so poorly when empty was shocking …won’t return

We’ve been here lots already. Lovely food and drink on the rooftop terrace for Sunday roast. Oysters and steak tartare excellent. Sirloin pink and tender. Lenny looked after us with just the right level of service and attention. Good value meal. We’ll be back.

My friends and I had a lovely meal on the terrace on a Friday evening a few weeks ago. The food was lovely as was the terrace experience. The service however stood out and was wonderful as we had a very friendly and helpful waiter, Lenny! Thank you Lenny for making our experience such a memorable one.

Unfortunately the food did not hit the mark you’d expect for a restaurant operating at this level/price. The lamb shank was under seasoned and undercooked. I had to use my knife (which was not sharp enough) to aggressively pull the meat apart, when I normally use only my fork. It was a shame considering how much effort went into the overall presentation of the dining room as well as each dish, and the wait staff was great. I’m hoping my experience was an exception and not the rule

Really enjoyed spending my birthday lunch at the Coq d'Argent! The food was delicious and very filling and our waiter, Maxime, made this experience even more unique! Definitely the best crème brûlée I've ever had! :) Will come back!

I recommend! 5 stars +. This is the place where I chose to propose my girlfriend. Everything was perfect. I made the reservation for six people. They allowed me to use their terrace, which has a wonderful view. I have visited many restaurants, but I can say that this is one of the top. Their staff is very kind and organized. The receptionist was very nice to us; she made sure that everything went well and that the marriage proposal remained a surprise for my girlfriend. The service was impeccable; we didn't have to wait at all. They have a superb view towards the center of London. I want to thank them again for their warm welcome. 100% I will return to them in the future.

Beautiful rooftop restaurant. We had the menu du jour, which is very reasonably priced for the quality of the food. The dishes were absolutely delicious, can highly recommend the duck leg and the lemon tart. The atmosphere was lovely and it is bright and airy in the room. The service was a little slow at times but the overall experience was great. The floor manager, Lenny, was very kind and charming. Will definitely be coming back with friends and family, especially looking forward to sitting outside!

Anything but 5 stars feels wrong. We ordered Souris d'agneau, veal cutlet, sea bass risotto, duck breast, and the onion soup. Every dish came out on top of expectation (though I wish the lamb shank be braised longer). Their service was impeccable, too. Friendly staff from the front desk to the sommelier. Best dinner we had in London. Totally recommend to anyone looking for a memorable time.

Great spot in the heart of the City, nice drinks and strong cocktails. Nibbles were tasty and big portion and the staff were kind and fast. Isha who works as the security there was very kind to quickly show the rooftop area even though it was closed that day. Overall a fun and spacious spot in downtown

My visit to Coq D'Argent for the 3-course Sunday menu was an absolute delight from start to finish. The attention to detail in both the presentation of the dishes and the attentive service truly elevated the dining experience. To start, the octopus appetizer was a true standout. Tender and flavorful, it was beautifully plated and showcased the chef's skillful preparation. The Sea Bream main course was equally impressive, perfectly cooked and accompanied by delicious crab and prawn risotto. And finally, the Pomme Dessert was a sweet conclusion to the meal, expertly crafted and satisfying. Throughout the meal, the service was impeccable. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our dining experience was exceptional. Coq D'Argent has truly set the standard for the quality and presentation of the food to the attentive service. I cannot recommend it highly enough and look forward to my next visit.

**Edit in reply to the response below** 1. On pricing. I stand by £30 not being terrible value for money, but also not being great. Brigadiers is a 5 minute walk away with a cheaper and (in my opinion) better set menu. I also did not really enjoy my starter (the Veloute), although the Tarte Tatin was really tasty, the risotto fine. Hence why I think my description was fair. 2. I would say your restaurant does not cater to vegetarians/vegans. If you look at the set menu, no options were labelled as vegan for starters, mains or deserts. Two of your options which were labelled as vegetarian, the veloute and the risotto were actually NOT vegetarian, because they contained cheeses made with rennet. I had to explicitly ask if these cheese were vegetarian versions and found out they weren't, yet the options on the menu were labelled as vegetarian? I find that extremely disappointing - many vegetarians would assume a restaurant was providing the correct information and would not check. I also genuinely think the waiter I interacted with was annoyed that I was a vegetarian and eating in this restaurant - it's very very rare to feel so unwelcome. I found the response from the restaurant disappointing here. As I said, I wouldn't go back. **Original Review** The food was not terribly priced (set lunch menu) and fine. My big issues were: 1. The lack of vegetarian options. I guess this is to be expected in a French restaurant, but this is also central London and it did make it feel like the restaurant was stuck in the past. With so many great places to go nearby with great vegan and vegetarian options at a similar price point, I can't help but feel this restaurant is struggling to keep up. 2. The atmosphere. It feels stuffy and old fashioned. To some this might feel classy and sophisticated, but I found the decor (excluding the very cool architecture of the restaurant) dated. 3. A rude waiter who seemed actively annoyed when I asked about vegetarian options on the menu and who also told me that as a vegetarian, I couldn't eat any cheese because no cheeses were vegetarian. I appreciated the two cheeses they had on the menu (parmesan and Roquefort) are not, but clearly many cheeses are suitable for vegetarians. We had quite a confusing discussion where I found him very patronising and rude. I didn't feel he tried to find solutions for the lack of vegetarian options either, except that I should just take out cheese from all of the dishes. God forbid how he would have dealt with a vegan! I wouldn't come back here, but if you are a meat eater and like things to feel a bit more old fashioned, this is probably a firm favourite of yours in the city.

Great hospitality and service when I held an event in the downstairs meeting rooms. Sakina and Karthik helped me with everything from technology, all the way through to ensuring the event ran smoothly. The food was delicious and served with great hospitality. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. I would definitely hold future events there again

Been away from the City for just about a year and food price went bonkers. Bank card sized festive mille feuill and a latte for £10+, and this Paul certainly is not the most comfortable one in London. Probably my last visit, adieu
