We had a really wonderful evening dining at Club Gascon. I went with a group of friends for a special occasion. It was clear how much effort all the chefs and front of house staff put in to make our experience as special as it could possibly be throughout the whole evening. The food was absolutely stunning and full of carefully curated surprises which we really appreciated. The service was incredibly smooth and attentive. We were in very good hands with the wine recommendations, especially loved the desert wine. We felt really looked after. We won’t forget this special evening. THANK YOU so much to the whole team at Club Gascon.

My second time dining at Club Gascon and the food was once again amazing. Creative, super tasty and worthy of its Michelin Star. The cheesecake desert baffled me (in a good way)! Our waitress was lovely but the sommelier was rude. The wine list is extensive so we asked for some advice. When we said our budget was £60-70 for a bottle he snubbed us, pointed at a page and looked over to another table. Unacceptable and quite frankly set a poor tone for the rest of the meal. Luckily the waitress and food redeemed the situation but the sommelier let the experience down.

Club Gascon has been going for over twenty five years and it is some time since we last visited. Dinner on a Saturday evening was not full maybe not surprising considering the location. We had booked the three course menu including bread, tea and coffee which is normally priced at £65.00 but there are wider six and eight course tasting menus with wine pairings available. The three course menu has a choice of two courses at each stage and we were quite surprised at the level of invention and the mouth watering flavours, a Michelin star is certainly well deserved here. The setting is nice and the staff warm and friendly. The only negative was that the wine we initially ordered was sold out but the wine list is good and in this day and age reasonable value for money too. South West France is the speciality. The menus change seasonally and we would certainly go back later in the year.

Not a Michelin experience by any means. When we first arrived we were ignored by the maître d. We were eventually acknowledged and sat down only to wait 30 minutes to be offered a drink. One of our party asked for slimline tonic to be told by the maître d they didn’t have any, the food was full fat and then proceeded to shrug. We asked if they served Diet Coke which they did so unsure how much sense that made. The food was underwhelming and the main course incredibly chewy (their signature dish - the duck). The best part about our meal was the bread. However, what lets this place down even more than the food is the service. The maître d was just pompous and so condescending. Overall so very disappointing.

This restaurant has only one Michelin star, it should be 2. We eat at a lot of 1 or 2 star places in London but this meal today was the best ever. We all had the same starter, a Faux Fois Gras made from nuts etc. Exquisite, totally veg but tasted like the real thing. 2 had fish and 2 had cassoulet, traditional dishes but with that something etc. The desserts were also masterpieces. The knowledgeable head waiter explained the dishes very well and helped us choose some modestly priced wine - she didn't try to make us spend lots more! This lovely intimate restaurant in a historic area of London, just near Smithfield, is off the main tourist trail. The award winning chef has been there 25 years. We ate a la carte (the lunch set menu doesn't start until next week) but for 4 of us and 2 bottles of wine it was less than the River Cafe set spring lunch. This is our first visit since before the pandemic and it is as good as ever, didn't take photos because they can't do it justice. Smart casual, hubby wore jeans and a shirt. If you like really good food that you couldn't possibly make your self then try it.

Having googled "Michelin Starred French Restaurant in London" Club Gascon was one of the first options to pop-up. A quick sense-check of the reviews, it seemed worthy of a booking, but if I'm being honest, we were rather disappointed by our experience. For complete transparency, this was our first time eating "classically" French fine-dining but having eaten at a number of other Michelin starred restaurants in the past - we had little reason to believe our evening would have been anything short of fantastic. We ordered the 8 course tasting menu - both the "regular" and vegetarian options. None of the dishes we received were particularly memorable, with some flavour / texture combinations leaving us a bit perplexed. E.g. The squirrel terrine with hazelnuts, partridge leg / offal meat on a sugar tart. But understanding that "taste" can often be subjective, I don't want to dwell on this... What particularly disappointed us was two-fold. The attention to detail: Receiving a chipped wine glass, and having wine accidentally spilt onto our table and then not offered to be cleaned up. Not something we would typically focus on but when you're paying a premium, you expect a premium level of attention. The perception that our servers' did not know what what was "in" the food. Whether this was an "off" night (Thursday), I'm not sure, and whilst perfectly pleasant, it often felt like we were trying to coax out of staff what had gone into our dishes... On a few occasions, our questions yielding a single ingredient response or a bemused look. In our view, the beauty of the upper tier of dining is the "experience" and "story-telling", for the staff to take you on a journey of what, how and where the food has been produced... Bringing to life what has put in front of you (figuratively speaking, of course!) Finally, the presentation. The food was refined and well presented. The restaurant itself, however, was maybe more dated than we have come to expect, quintessentially looking like you would have expected a fine dining establishment to have looked in the 90s. We are absolutely not in the habit of writing negative reviews for the sake of it but we feel like it is important to give an honest appraisal of our experience, for this to be viewed constructively and hopefully improved upon in the future.

This used to be a good restaurant before the dreaded Michelin star. Now it’s a somber temple to “fine dining” but missing the essential element of “fine”. We had the 5 course menu, which was a dispiriting display of showing off but with no real substance. Turning langoustines into jelly might sound sexy but the resulting wobbly mess (stuffed with gritty cockles) was a salty and mostly tasteless waste of effort. The mushroom course was a teaspoon of puréed morel which was uninspiring. The partridge breast was ok, but coming in an inexplicable sauce and no veg. I will still hungry after three courses. The sweet courses were plain weird. My friends had the cheesy eclair which one of them refused to eat. I had some cheesy flower with berries in a pastry base which really doesn’t work in any universe. The final course was an over sweet sorbet / chocolate moose, which contained the only genuinely interesting thing all night - a spoon of fennel sorbet. There were three of us and with a couple of glasses of wine this whole experience cost just short of £400. I found the waiting staff arch and unfriendly - they seem to think they are church wardens rather than waiters. When I told our waiter I had coeliac disease she complained that they needed to be “told in advance”. My friend asked them to call a taxi when we were done (it was pouring outside) and was told that they didn’t do that type of thing. Finally, I really cannot bear restaurants that instruct their waiters to interrupt guests’ discussions when food arrives so they can portentously announce what we are about to eat. We know what it is because we looked at the menu and made the choice in the first place. That’s just plain irritating.

But one course the macaroon was absolutely amazing it was worth it just for that hence the 4 stars. I understand that’s down to personal taste. We booked for 9pm and the service was prompt with not much time between courses to the extent it felt rushed. I would say try the place as the menu changes and we might of just been unlucky on the night.

Food was great, had the 8 course tasting menu and only disliked one dish - neither of us liked the frosted rock, tasted like pink dish soap. As others have posted, you are paying a lot for the menu and this comes with high expectation of service level and food. And this really feel short. It was very good but just not that 5 star level it should be based on price. The two servers were very nice and the one lady was great. And, if this was a regular restaurant and we were having a 3 course meal I would not have a problem with the service. For a MICHELIN start restaurant the service fell short. The restaurant needs a least another server to help; the two people seemed really overwhelmed and could not maintain the level of service necessary. Plates were left on the table after done eating far too long, we had to ask repeatedly for another glass of wine, pacing of dishes was off, etc. It is all these minor points which differentiate a restaurant from 8/10 to 10/10. it is the difference between a really nice and 5 star. The restaurant has been there for 25 years so I am sure it will be fine despite my review, but customers should be aware this it not a 5 star Michelin restaurant anymore.

First time visitor, had the vegetarian, 6 course menu, which was absolutely amazing. Dish of the meal, was the stuffed courgette flowers.Came with the most amazing smoked bread, and that green sauce! Divine, never had a sauce as smooth as that. Overall the experience was nothing but excellent. Staff were also very nice and talkative, explaining about the food, history of the restaurant and feelings of the chef. No rushing at all, atmosphere was amazing, we were actually the first people in for the evening so the place was completely empty and lovely. There was nice and relaxing background music. Found the portion size to be a overall excellent (just a tinsy bit too much, but we tend to eat less than average) and you definitely will be fed after. As besides the courses there are other little bits and bobs. Will be looking to return, though it is definitely several times above our usual price range for a meal out, the taste and experience was worth it for a very special occasion.

Went here for a tasting menu with wine pairing here a couple of weeks ago. Very quiet for a Friday evening. Everything was beautifully presented, service was polished, and the food was truly and comically abysmal. Whilst consistently unpleasant, highlights included (a) 'Smoked bread' (which tasted like cigarettes); (b) exploding fois gras bubbles in duck soup with grated tuna heart which tastes like it sounds; and (c) an undercooked pigeon despite my asking for it to be anything but. Felt a bit sorry for the staff (as it was a bit funny) and left hungry which should not really be happening at £600 for 2 (!). To note however: (i) it has really stayed in the memory; and (ii) this place used to be v. good/reliable pre-pandemic - not sure if the chef has changed or something.

The wine was not good for 130 pounds as recommended. The sommelier was a little snooty in his expertise. The lamb was fatty. The food was warm. The sides did not go well with the entrees. I just don't get how jello cumcumber is so good with any entree. From the beginning to the end, the quality of the food was not good and was not savory. The food tasted bland. It was a huge disappointment unfortunately. My husband and I love Michelin dining, and we were really looking forward to that meal. It started off really well with amuse bouche, as it had great and unexpected combination of flavours and textures. I thought we're in for a treat for the rest of the evening. The menu was very limited and they had only vegetarian or fish for startter and veggie or rabbit for main. I would have liked a choice of fish or seafood for the main and meat for starter. We waited ages after the amuse bouche, and very often our wine glasses were empty for ages. Then we got the starter, I chose a fish starter and my husband veggie as he doesn't eat fish. His veggie starter was good, but I didn't like mine, as I think smoked mussels were overpowering delicate flavour of foie grass and seemed like it was just used for texture, so that's a waste in my opinion. Saying that, the texture of the dish wasn't that great. Then we were waiting for ages, no bread was served. Bread finally came with the main course, which I found weird. The bread was very good, but our rabbit was raw, so I couldn't finish it. When we complained to the waiter it was raw, he laughed and took it away. He also took the bread, I wasn't finished with it , but he didn't ask and just took it away. I do eat raw fish and meat and have no problem with carpaccio or cevishe, but raw rabbit was not pleasant at all. Next to follow was blue cheese macaron,I love strong cheese, but again it overpowered the whole thing and macaron was used just for texture. I had savoury macarons many times, but this one was the worst. Dessert was nice, but nothing special, petit fours ok. I would not go back or recommend it, it definitely is not to the standard of Michelin I'm used to... It felt like they were not even interested in the feedback or values us as customers. Such a shame.

Really lovely experience. Good food and service was super friendly. I did find a very gritty mussel but other than that, faultless.

Amazing food and incredible service. Very friendly staff who explained the food as it arrived and were very helpful with wine suggestions. All the food was bought out right on time and was presented beautifully, and the whole restaurant had a lovely atmosphere.

The 6 course taster menu was a birthday gift for my 60th. I was really looking forward to it. Sadly neither of us really enjoyed any of the courses. I think some of the taste combinations were to shock rather than satisfy. Eg a very sweet and strongly flavoured gingerbread macaroon filled with th extremely salty and strong Roquefort cheese. Both of which I would eat separately but not in combination. The onion soup was lovely and I expected to like my partners mushrooms in fondue - two of my favourite combinations - but I couldn’t eat it. Shredded beef in an edible tulip not only seemed pretentious, we also found it too heavily flavoured with star anise as to be pleasant. When I scraped off a very bitter sorbet palette cleanser to get to the nice lemon flavour beneath, the waiter asked if I was full or didn’t like it. When I said I didn’t like it he pulled a face at me. Very sneery! Even my English breakfast tea at the end I had to leave as it was like dishwater. Sadly sadly disappointed as it was an expensive and thoughtful gift.

Absolutely fantastic! I last went to Club Gascon many years ago and was in two minds about returning for a family birthday. I am so glad we did; it was amazing value, fantastic food and wine, plus incredible service. I will certainly be back again soon.

In 2022 my girlfriend and I enjoyed accumulating 9 stars of restaurant visits. This year we’re aiming for 12 and the 3rd of the year was Club Gascon. The dining room itself is very nice. Well presented and laid out. Overall the food was very good. I won’t go into details of each course, but I would say it was clearly Michelin level food. What let the experience down was the service. Firstly, I found the sommelier a little condescending and difficult to understand. I am no expert in wine (that’s why they have sommeliers!) but I’m also no idiot. I’ve never had this difficulty elsewhere. Secondly, the wait staff weren’t attentive. I had to pour our water all night and request another bottle when it was finished (meaning they did not ask if I wanted a second bottle). Finally, the timing between courses was also too long. There was just no rhythm to the service. I’ve not experienced this in any other Michelin starred Resto. These may all sound whiny and 1st world problems (which they are), but when you’re shelling out this kind of money AND competitors offer far better service, it is expected.

There was something that I just didn’t appreciate about the food. Some courses were nice but others I felt were odd choices or combinations or just too experimental that they were just not nice! Too much ‘mousse’ or jelly in many of the courses. One course was called ‘sweet bread’ and I had no idea what it was. Having asked the waiter (see more below), he just said again ‘it’s sweet bread, it’s called sweet bread’. Clearly I didn’t know what sweet bread was and he made no effort to explain. I didn’t eat this course. Service was average - poor at best and got noticeably worse, the busier it got. Very rude older gentleman waiter who, when we asked to order some drinks, having said ‘can we order a drink please’ said to us, ‘not from me,no’! An odd man serving our drinks who was not proactive at all in suggesting or selling drinks. Underwhelmed! I wouldn’t go back here sadly and I’m unsure if it deserves its Michelin star.

This was the first visit to Club Gascon in a few years and I’m sorry to say I was really disappointed. It seems to be stuck in the past. The decor is still quite elegant, but the food wasn’t so impressive. Of the 6 course tasting menu, only 2 courses + the bread were of any distinction. The service style was quite peculiar, in particular the sommelier had a very condescending, and almost antagonistic approach. It’s a real shame but I feel the restaurant has really lost its edge and I don’t expect I’ll visit again.

It doesn’t deserve to be a Michelin star restaurant. There is one waiter who is so rude and not polite. The food was terrible… I have tried many non Michelin starred restaurants/ Michelin guide restaurants that are so much better than this and this club gascon is overpriced. More than £260 for 2 people, for such terrible food and services.

We had the Christmas Taster Menu and Wine accompaniment. Good staff. Great location and ambiance. Some of the courses we nice. However some were not. Extremely rare stuffed Quail was not pleasant. Maybe its down to our taste but for a bill of £750 it did not live up to the billing.

My first visit here and highly recommended. Had the eight course tasting menu with wine pairing. Each dish was incredibly creative, beautifully presented and, above all else, tasted wonderful. The staff were attentive, very professional, and really friendly. Not remotely stuffy, as some high-end restaurants can be. It felt like a small, family-run restaurant, albeit with a Michelin star. Expensive, but worth it if you are lucky enough to be able to afford it.

I probably missed out by choosing a 6-course menu rather than the full 8. Specifically the attendant was very considerate. I wanted to avoid lactose although not strictly diary free. So they accommodated by changing certain dishes to vege. In general the vibe is good for chatting and not too formal. tastes is balanced and portion is fitness-friendly. Layout is also quite creative. Truly a feast for both stomach and eyes. Not cheap but worth a treat sometimes.

Exquisite food & the best service we have ever received from a London high-end restaurant. Much thanks to the team for a memorable gastronomy experience for a special occasion. The menu is so interesting, I had forgotten how sophisticated food could be after COVID. The foies gras flan was the most interesting treatment, the creamy richness of the liver was paired perfectly with thin slices of peeled cranberries. The sorbet was served on a block of Himalayan salt which added the perfect counterpoint to the sweet dessert. The cassoulet had all the rich complex flavors of the dish in a tiny artistic package. The wine pairings were outstanding, but the service puts this place at the top. Francesca was just so lovely and introduced us to the unbelievably talented and gracious chef. Club Gascon made celebrating our 20th anniversary unforgettable in the best way, they are awesome!

The good: You can see the chef pours his heart into the restaurant. His personality shines through in every little detail: the decor, flowers, and the theme of autumn that transpires through the plating and dishes. The amouse bouche gives you a wonderful taste of what’s to come. The taste of autumn vegetables together with an explosion of tomatoes and melon leaves you wanting more. The highlights of this 6 course tasting menu for me were definitely the cauliflower carpaccio where every bite sings with flavor and the venison which melted in your mouth. I’d like to note the thoughtfulness of the chef who offered a sauce replacement for the Guinness and oyster sauce because I was intolerant to fish and seafood. Quite a nice touch that I really appreciated. Our red wine skillfully picked by the somelier worked brilliantly with the full menu and the pink champagne was excellent. We booked this for my birthday and it was lovely to receive a hand written card from the chef and the staff, wishing me a happy birthday. I found it a very hearty and lovely touch to the experience especially since the picture on the card was drawn by one of the restaurant’s staff (very talented). The interesting: The duck foie gras was an interesting one. It was the first time I tasted it warm and it felt a bit heavy for me. However, the fig and fourme and the pimm’s delicacy felt tasteless in a stark contrast with the beginning of the menu. At first we thought that maybe it wasn’t to our personal liking but we heard the tables around us share the same conversations that we had. Most of the staff was really friendly and fun with one exception, but we all sometimes have bad days so I can’t judge. Overall it was a good experience and if you want to see the full creativity of the chef on each plate, then this is the place to go.

This was one of the best set lunch experiences I have had. The restaurant is ideally situated on Cavendish Square, has very professional staff and plenty of space in a lovely dining room. So often (even in restaurants with Michelin star chefs) one is made to feel a rather inferior customer by having the set lunch but here, the experience was quite the opposite. The choice, although limited to 2 each of starters, mains and desert was of high quality, very special dishes and at £29 for 2 courses represented very good value. We had the langoustine spelt risotto followed by a generous piece of turbot with vegetables. Both of these dishes were so tasty and of a standard that reflects highly on the chef. The real treat was in the extras that were provided - beautiful canapés with edible flowers, very tasty homemade sourdough bread and gorgeous petit fours with our tea & coffee. I have to mention the impressive range (110) of excellent wines available in a couple of glass sizes, I’ve never seen this anywhere else. We had a glass of Jurancon Sec each, which complimented our meal perfectly. The attention to every detail and special food made a very memorable experience, which I will certainly book again.
