It was a very hot day and as we were sitting outside, all we fancied was a salad. Not a great choice of those, but I ordered a Ceasar salad. It was tasty, but in my opinion it could have done with more lettuce - if you’re going to charge £15.50 for it, at least make it look more appealing and filling for a salad. Or review the price down. Staff was nice although was made to feel like a burden when I ordered at the bar for alcoholic drinks and a pot of tea. If there is a next time I might order via the QR code to avoid being served by someone who clearly didn’t want to be there that day.

Chorizo mac n cheese, burgers, and pork Sunday roast all delicious. The roast had lots of interesting veggies and an apricot pork stuffing. Went here today for lunch. Ordered my son Hunters chicken and it arrived and he initially asked me if it was a child's meal as a very small portion. He took one bite and left the chicken as it was so dry it was inedible. Fed half to our dog. I complained to the manager as all my son had ate from his £15 main was a handful of chips. The manager dismissed my complaint saying that their Hunters chicken was one of their signature dishes. Sadly won't be returning due to the substandard customer service.

The Copt Oak has become our catch up place to meet friends, we always opt to go here as enjoy the atmosphere in relaxed dining area, has a lovely outdoor area too, easy meeting place and great staff. We tend to go for drinks but always end up getting food, generally the sharing platter with some added extras! It’s perfect for us. We were here on Saturday, and I didn’t catch the Barman’s name but he was so lovely, as all staff are, which is why we keep coming back!

Visited the Copt Oak for drinks and a catch up with family. The restaurant was buzzing and we struggled to find a table, which is a great thing at a restaurant in my eyes! Our drinks were made quickly. We ordered J20s and Pepsi, however, we felt that the drinks were slightly expensive for soft drinks. Nevertheless, we had a great visit and will be back for food soon.

A lovely place. Good menu. Took ages for our order to be taken ( mains) and even longer for dessert order. Dessert over priced at 7-50 average. We ordered the sundaes, and although stated , whipped cream was missing. Coffee Luke warm and cappuccino had not a sign of any froth...... Disappointed tbh. Not a cheap place by a long way, but food was hot. Mashed potato was instant, I think.

Worst dining experience I have ever had! I took my 7 year old son for lunch. The food took a long time to come and when it arrived my son’s food was inedible and mine was completely dried up. I complained about my son’s meal and they asked if he would like to choose something else, which he did. When we came to pay the manager charged me for my son’s meal that he ate most of, plus half of the inedible meal. I questioned this and I was told that he had tried the first meal so I needed to pay for the part he ate. I refused and was told that it wasn’t their problem that my son was fussy and that it was only fair that I cover half the cost of the meal he didn’t eat. I was also told that the children’s meals were for under 5’s and that was why my son didn’t eat it. The manage is clearly lacking in customer service skills, tries to intimidate and is very rude. Honestly don’t waste your money. The manager needs sacking and the food is disgusting. So many better places to eat near by. Awful experience.

We said we’d like to order dessert and coffee to which the waiter said settle the large bill first, then order on the app! We did so and went on the app for desserts and coffees, the app had closed so we went to the bar to order the staff said the till was now closed! This was before 10pm on a Saturday night! Have been to this restaurant many times and especially the last few years on Christmas Day except for last year of course re Covid-19. We have always supported the pub and restaurant as we are local. Three years ago there was warning signs, management left at short notice, temp staff brought in for xmas day and problems in the bar saw us question whether to return the following year. (We do go quite a bit in the weeks throughout the year) So we again opted for Christmas dinner two years ago, no problems with groups of males in the bar area so a bonus but the food was very delayed and as we had the later setting had run out of some of the food we had selected a couple of months before? This year we saw new management and improvements so after a long conversation in November decided to book for 2021. We went for the early sitting to avoid food running out. We all sat down and service appeared to be good, very quick to order drinks and our starters arrived. Having had our starters we expected a short wait. We noticed quite a few people turning up apologising they were early but were being led to their seats. Whilst we were still waiting they were on their starters (smaller group than ours) so we ordered more drinks and waited patiently. More people were arriving and some people were beginning to argue with staff at the delays, felt a little sorry for one waitress who was left in tears as clearly the manager should have not allowed people in before their time adding to the pressure, they should have been directed towards the bar until their allotted times. After an hour and fourty-five minutes of waiting we asked where our mains were to be told we are trying to sort it. Some people who cam in after us were now on their coffees before leaving. after another half an hour our mains were brought out. The mains were not as ordered and the meat was burnt especially mine which was supposed to be rare! Not wanting to delay or spoil our day any longer so did not complain but the food was also lukewarm and had clearly been standing in the kitchen for some time. One of our party had to wait for their dinner so we did not all start together. Our puddings came out seconds after we had finished our mains in an clear attempt to get us moved on, so much so that we did not receive our Proseco (Booked and paid for early) nor offered our coffee. By that time just wanted to get out of their so was not worth the argument. After two weeks wondering whether to review or not I have decided to leave this one as I feel that I and others had been let down, spent a lot of money for poor service after showing years of support for the place. We have already decided that this would not be our place of choice for next Christmas Day.

We arrived for our Boxing Day meal at 5pm but unfortunately this restaurant got off to a bad start. Our Table was pre booked and all paid for, however on arrival we were told one of the starters (chicken & chorizo terrine) was out of stock and only breaded mushrooms were left as an alternative. When I asked as to why they ran out I was just greeted with “stock issues”. Now, I completely appreciate and understand things can happen but when you have any prepaid booked tables, you should do your upmost best to make sure they receive items ordered and sacrifice your walk in diners. Next, our starters arrived. We had ordered 5 starters including 2 children starters. One being a soup and the other garlic bread. The difference in these starters were night and day. Soup being full with half a ciabatta roll and the other receiving one triangle of garlic bread. Just inconsistent. Mains were bog standard. Receiving grainy mash as it’s made from powdered smash. Carrots which were clearly from lunch service as they were all shrivelled, Brussels which were also lunch service and grey in colour. Duck and I quote “slow roasted” however over cooked and not blushing pink. Duck should also have crispy rendered skin which was none existent. Pudding was ok but grainy mousse in my chocolate cup. Young male server did his best for us which is very grateful, however I believed he left early before we could say thank you. Wines however were nice which was the only positive apart from my family company. Restaurant then closed at 7pm due to my table being the only one in the restaurant.

All very good but the "garden peas" and carrots were totally devoid of taste. Not overcooked, in fact quite firm to the bite, just no taste! Nothing!. Decor here is lovely. Only reason for not giving 5 stars this time is that we were seated well away from were most people were sitting which meant it had little atmosphere. I think because it was so quiet we could hear the strange mix of music that was playing. Music from all eras and all different genres - some not really appropriate for when you are having a relaxing meal. She has asked me to pay for the starters and the drinks without telling me that I couldn’t avail of the lunch deal if I order the starters separately (which we later found out when we have ordered the mains!). I was told that if you are seating outside, you have to pay as you order. To make it worse, the fish in the fish and chips we had ordered was very well done, the batter was quite hard. Lovely old pub felt comfortable and homely. Staff were very friendly and there was a large car park. We both had Sunday roast, I had pork, he had beef. It was beautifully presented and there was plenty of it including carrots, cabbage and red cabbage, yorkies and roasties. Unfortunately the positives end there. It was mediocre. The meat was tasteless but plentiful (I brought most of mine home for the cat) the veg was firm and the roasties were soft. My knife had trouble cutting the yorkie. No complaints, no issues, just OK. I would definitely go again, just not for roast dinner, after all, it is the home of rotisserie chicken and I should have realised.

The Restaurant has a nice garden however the dining room rather than overlook the pretty garden, overlooked the car park.I suggest that the management construct a trellis or similar with climbing greenery to improve the review for diners. The food was reasonable, however I chose two courses for £12 which I found to be a poor choice. The others selected from the main menu, which resulted in the main meals looking more substantial and appealing. My two course choice included breaded mushrooms with garlic dip and scampi and chips as my main. The mushrooms were quite pleasant, but no better than I could buy at the supermarket, same goes for the scampi, however the chips were good, golden and crispy. Portion size on the ‘special’ menu, were small. The others ordered pie, salad and I think a burger. Waitress was very friendly and helpful. The service was good. Parking Availability was great. Booked a meal on Monday the 31st august as part of the eat out to help out deal. Unfortunately it was disappointing to say the least. When we ordered the chicken and steak special we were told that it was not available as they had no chickens cooked(supposed to be a rotisserie restaurant). We were then informed that it wasn't the fact they had no chickens cooked it was actually that they had no rump steak. When asking if i could substitute for a sirloin instead and pay the extra i was told no.So we ordered sirloin instead with a side of pepper sauce(which they didn't have either).Pretty sure most chefs would be able to Rustle up one. We finished our meal and decided to order 2 melt in the middle desserts. "sorry we only have 1 of those"we were "we can make you a brownie Sunday instead if you would like".So i had one of those. It arrived in a bowl 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream with a bit of squirty cream and 3 pieces of brownie. The ice cream had melted by the time it got to the table as the bowl was hot.Got a refund for that but a disgusted look from the waitress as i said that i wasn't paying for it.Not really sure they understand the whole meaning of the eat out to help out scheme.Surely this is an opportunity for restaurants to show people the experience of dinning out and to encourage them to come back in the future.Overall i would say our experience was very disappointing and will not be returning again.

I work in a hospital with COVID pts but this place made me more nervous! Staff had no masks or visors, got close to customers when taking orders or payment and tables were close together and not distanced. Stupid one way system made us walk out between several of tables of other diners instead of going back out the way we came in that was clear and avoided people.

Went for lunch after shopping and wanted chicken but sold out a little strange for lunchtime. Burger was ok but dry and overcooked. Staffing levels were low. No facemasks which was a bit worrying and using normal condiment bottles which isn't good for hygiene at the moment. Biscoff cheesecake was delicious.

I had a lunch this week. Some social distancing measures were in place such as sanitiser, a one way system and disposable menus, however staff had no PPE whatsoever and stood very close when serving and the tables were very close together where we sat so this made me very nervous as it was our first meal out since lockdown. The staff were very nice though, but airborne transmission seems highly likely to occur sadly. The food is very basic and I recall it being more interesting when I visited before.

Went with family for lunch and was generally good however the gammon was a little over done and I'm sure the veg portions have gone down and the prices up ! Service was good as usual from the 2 regular waitresses. The payment system has been updated to portable card readers it took 3 different machines until successful, maybe go back to the old system.

Paid the bill at the end £45 when leaving said bye to the manager who was stood next to us when leaving to be rudely ignored, this is the last time ill be visiting this place £45 wasted on a cold meal and very poor customer service i would not recommend going here gone down hill.

I don’t know what was worst? Watching young lad in waiting accidentally spilling gravy over the next tables birthday girls back! True!! Don’t know what was more difficult to watch the lady with hot gravy on her back or the young serving lad going to pieces?Long wait followed by, Luke warm food, some that was either over cooked or under cooked. Punters hemmed in to maximise profits at the expense of quality. Staff pleasant but under trained, need more support. Menus’ dirty, tables sticky, Bill well over priced for quality. Didn’t mind the price tag if the food was up to it, which it wasn’t. Meant to be a nice meal for my eldest sons birthday, He had McDonalds the day before with his mates the which he stated was much much better and apologised for the meal being so bad as he had picked the venue. I said it was my fault and not to worry. First son scored it 7/10, second son (birthday boy) 3/10, my wife 5/10, me 3/10 and I was being generous! I’d like for this to have been a good experience as its very local and we were looking for a good Sunday bolt hole for good no nonsense grub. I dove past this pub for the last 6 years wondering what it would be like to eat there? Now I know and will keep on driving for many more years without a second thought. The above was just the tip of the iceburg and factually correct. Copy Oak please raise your game, I’ve had better else where but, I know you could improve Your game easily if you tried. It’s all about the customer.Mr Sharpe

This pub was the perfect half way point to meet up with my dad, having never heard of it I was a little dubious. However I had no need to be. Upon arrival the waitress found our booking and automatically gave me a gluten free menu which saved all the questions. Our meals were lovely and the staff were very attentive, particularly when we asked for time between lunch and dessert. We weren’t rushed once. I had a gluten free sticky toffee pudding, whilst very sweet it was delicious and a rare option on a gluten free menu. Overall we would defiently return to this lovely establishment. It has good food and lovely staff.

We had a really efficient waitress who had a great work ethic, she never stopped. When tables were vacated she immediately went to clear and clean the tables so they were fit for new arrivals. She was attentive without being pushy, cleared away quickly but not too quickly, so we didn't fee rushed. The food was plentiful, good quality and hot. I would certainly recommend the Oak to anyone wanting a reasonably priced meal in a nice environment.

We’ve been coming to the Copt Oak for years as this is our local. Since the new manager has taken over, this place hasn’t been nice to come to. The food and table staff are amazing and are the only thing keeping this place going. The manager has been nothing but rude since she’s taken over. She’s been turning people away even when the place is completely empty and she had the biggest argument with a staff member (who had done nothing wrong) all in front of customers, then complaining that she’s going to leave and jack the job in, slamming things on the bar and acting like a stroppy teenager. The staff members are being run ragged because they’re only putting 2/3 on at a time and she’s stood behind the bar telling people to sit and wait to be served a drink but making the staff go serve even though she isn’t busy, they are and she could easily serve them. I feel really sorry for the staff here at the minute, they’re all lovely, hardworking people and very friendly and do not deserve to be treated badly! I’d be surprised if this place stays running with the rate the manager is going...such a shame as it’s always a lovely meal but it just gets ruined by her being rude mannered, unapproachable and shouting at staff and customers for no reason. Such a shame

Food was lovely, cooked well and we weren't waiting long, it was also fairly priced I was very pleasantly surprised, Staff were very attentive. Nice clean surroundings they were going to be very busy as first weekend after xmas but they accommodated us and it was a very last minute decision by us, but a very good one, thank you for a lovely meal we will be back.

The service was really poor. They were short staffed and the staff who were there looked bored an disinterested. Finished plates were left for ages on the table. The dessert took another 45 mins to arrive we were all bored and fed uo by the end. Untill they get more staff and a new mananger we wont be goin back. Went for Christmas lunch it was very tasty the starters and main course were served prompt, a little wait for pudding but the staff were run off of their feet clearly so not a problem, There were a lot of people moaning around us about the service etc, maybe if they want 5* service they spend a lot more money for silver service and not the £40/ £50 they paid on Christmas day, working in the industry it infuriates me that people have no idea how hard it is to please everybody, can people put on social media how they perform in their job??? Next year I suggest you spent £100 a head plus and get the service you expect, well done to all the Staff at the Copt Oak you were clearly doing your best and running around trying to please no doubt on not a particularly good wage, we enjoyed our meal, thank you

Well what can I say other than a terrible experience at Copt oak which we have been to many times before so thought booking a Christmas Day meal here would be a great idea, how wrong was I! We arrived in good time with our booking being at 12.30 to be ignored for 10minutes until the manager took our names and seated us. We then waited 25 minutes for our starters to arrive our main course we waited 30minutes and by the time our dessert came out we had waited 50minutes I understand how busy it can become but to be told we had a time slot until 2.45 and then wait all that time to be served was diabolical we actually left there at 2.45 after arriving at 12.15! Our 10 year old daughter didn't mind as much but have a 5yr old with us aswell he was obviously becoming very fed up. The food its self wasn't great the starters were cold the veg was practically raw on the mains and the yule log was that hard you couldn't even cut into it! Obviously it wasn't cheap and with it being Christmas Day we expected it to be of a high standard we WILL NOT return here again. Aswell as all of the above 2 members of the staff were exceptionally rude and also tried to charge us £33 for 4 drinks. Myself and my family have really been let down today and to say its put a dampner on our day is an understatement. Poor service average food and 4 very unhappy customers. There was also 2 tables next to us that were so unhappy it's such a shame the day was ruined for many what will be done about this ? And how are those affected supposed to just pay up and be treated in such a way. What a complete let down.

We have just had the worst experience at the Copt Oak ever. We have using this pub for many years & never has such a bad experience as we had today. To top it all off, this was Christmas Day & a family day which has been ruined. We booked, chose our meals & paid in full several months ago & were looking forward to a relaxed Christmas after 30 years of doing Christmas dinner at home. My parents 80 & 79, my stepdaughter who we don’t get every year & my sister, her partner and mine, all together. We were due to sit down at 2:30pm but an hour later we finally got our table but had to ask for the 7th setting as the table was set for 6. We eventually got some drinks & sat waiting. We had to ask several times for the food & after another hour, the starters finally arrived. Only after complaining were we offered a complements bottle of wine. We again had to ask for our main course & myself & my partner were left waiting whilst the other had theirs. Eventually I went down to the kitchen to find out where my food was. It was just coming out but the vegetables on the table were now cold. We had to ask for our deserts to be packaged up so we could take them home as we were so upset & not wanting to stay any longer. We had to ask for our money back rather than it being offered. My mother was in tears by this point as she felt she has let us all down. My father has shared in Marstons as well. The manager kept saying I’ve only been here a few weeks, the staff seems to avoid our table. Others were kept waiting but still got served before us. I’d never go back again
