Cooper's Coffee Shop in Liverpool

Highly recommend the afternoon tea at Cooper's. The best afternoon tea I've ever had! You need to book for afternoon tea in advance as everything is made completely fresh. If afternoon tea isn't your thing, the Mediterranean breakfast is to die for. Also great coffee and wonderful pastries. Can't fault Cooper's at all and would give more than 5 stars if I could ☺️

I visited here on Sunday. We ordered 2 breakfasts that came with toast which was rock hard and the Tea was cold. We bumped into friends so decided to order coffee while we caught up. We had a couple of sips of the coffee then were surprisingly told to leave as they needed the table however, there was no queue of people waiting. The attitude of the waitress was appalling, she was slamming things around, rolling her eyes towards us and gesturing towards us with another customer. When brought the bill we found were overcharged as 3 extra cappuccinos were added to the bill which we had to dispute. I have never been hurried to leave a cafe before and will never be returning. Would not recommend.

First impression was good so ordered ‘Homemade’ Scouse, come out looking nice. Then realised wasn’t made how it should be meat was gristly and strange chewy bits , was just like soup with part boiled potatoes and few bits of veg and lots of inedible meat , also asked for butter and was given margarine with what looked like bits of old toast in it , nobody asked how the food was just kept giving awkward looks when they walked past as if they knew already how bad it was going to be. Then the orange juice we were told wasn’t fresh but was still charged £3.70 for a small glass full of ice the cappuccino was the only decent thing about it all, will not return

Fui con mi hija y mi amiga y su hija también, mi hijo podría haberse portado mejor ese día, pero el personal era tan encantador con ella a pesar de todo. Mi amiga no es de por aquí, de todos los lugares alrededor me sentí tan contenta de haber elegido Cooper's para llevarla.

Lovely little cafe with a good range of menu options. It's worth visiting just for dessert. The cupcakes are amazing, and the Scandinavian inspired buns are tasty, too. Skip the pancakes if you can. They were soggy and tasted raw.

Vino a almorzar camino al aeropuerto. Encantador ambiente amable y servicio, servido rápidamente a pesar de que estaba ocupado. Delicioso desayuno. Desayuné vegano, mi esposo benedictino y mi hijo comieron panqueques veganos. Muy limpio, incluyendo baños. Primera vez allí, pero no será la última.

Julian served me, with his grace, kindness and softness, efficiency and effort, made my experience here very special. Rebecca gave me this wonderfully loving glass of hot water and lemon! Cute place, whose atmosphere is sadly damaged by a rather loud fridge.

Me, my mum and Nan visited on Friday and sadly we were disappointed with our experience. We all ordered a lunch and the food took 50 minutes to arrive. The cafe had a smell of fat in the air but luckily the door was opened so that helped. The wait time just sort of ruined our experience and when the food did arrive it wasn’t all that tasty. The fish was over done as the batter was quite hard and the chips which were sort of like potato wedges were quite hard. The waitress was a nice person and pleasant, however it would have been good to know how long the wait would be. If we’d have known about the wait we’d have probably had a coffee and cake instead, and had a different experience.

We had a most enjoyable evening. There were 22 of us. Julian opened the cafe especially for us tonight. The food was lovely and everyone commented on how much they appreciated our time together. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. It was so nice to be able to celebrate our little event in a local place near to where most of us live.

£6.50 for a sausage roll and a pasty that the lady who served me didn't even know the filling of! had to go 2 doors down into the main shop to pay also. dreadful all round

Great food! Especially the chicken club sandwiche with garlic sauce. Coffee's are delicious & the place has a relaxing atmosphere, with its chilled soft jazzy music playing low which just sends it to a great place to unwind 👍

Lunch was great - good food, generous portions and a great price. Service was friendly and efficient - especially so as the place was packed with every table taken. Atmosphere was very good with interesting ambient music provided - different from the normal stuff and very welcome. Furnishings and layout created a continental feel. Well worth a visit for lunch (and dinner which we've also had a few times). Highly recommended for family and friend gatherings.

Apart from a dog being present ( not an assistance dog ) , had an all day breakfast with toast and coffee. A tad expensive for what it was but it was tasty . A pleasant atmosphere with reasonably quick service. If I am in the area again I will return.

I visited here on a Sunday afternoon. Service is fantastic with well mannered staff. They had a table reserved by the window & only called an hour before. Food is well worth the money & ham & cheese toasties are delicious. Will be calling in again. Highly recommended 👌

Just popped in for coffee and a pastry to take away. Loverly friendly coffee shop with what looked like a great menu with great selection of cakes and pastries. Coffee was fine service was great and normal price for coffee. Did not realise this little coffee shop was here but will definitely be in for coffee in the future or more. The breakfasts looked good.

I took my daughter for late breakfast on Saturday. We were lucky enough to get a table. It was very busy. It’s cosy and welcoming. We were approached not long after we sat down to take our drink order first. We got lovely caffeine free lattes. Then we ordered our veggie breakfasts. Fabulous food. Huge portions. Well cooked and a good variety. Great value food with very cheerful staff. Love this place.

Came after recommendation from colleagues. Wasn’t disappointed. Food was amazing, very delicious indeed. The girls who waited on us were friendly with amazing attitude towards us with good attention towards our little one. Highly recommend and will be returning again soon. Can’t thank them enough.

Nicest steak & chips & peppercorn sauce iv had. Very tasty and a fair price. These guys should do steak night. Better than hawksmore and gaucho in town in my opinion.

Have been here a few times, never disappoints. My wife is not a big coffee drinker but at Coopers she had two cappuccinos. Staff are always friendly, food & service is excellent.

What a surprise find! Returning from John Lennon Airport this evening came across Coopers. Freshly made pizza & risotto was delicious, reasonably priced too. Will definitely return to try out their cakes as they had a fabulous selection.

I drop in to coopers with my parents or brothers every time I'm back in Liverpool. Breakfast/brunch here is always delicious. Had the Latino breakfast last time, highly recommend. Staff are lovely and attentive, great menu variety, and regular changes to specials, awesome cakes too.

Tried the new "Cooper's Souvlaki" - lovely! My new fave. Son's hangover cured by the "Latino". Staff friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend Cooper's.

I recently enjoyed a lovely evening meal with 3 courses. The staff were amazing and the whole experience was much needed on a cold amd rainy day. Atmosphere was excellent.

Had the most amazing evening experince. The atmosphere was cosy and welcoming with the food absoloutley sensational. The Italian wine was simply gorgeous too. Staff are lovely and super helpful. This really is a gem of a place to go which is truly relaxing with such a high standard of food, wine and service. Going back tonight and cannot wait! Highly recomend ❤

I would rather eat out of a bin, we got there and ordered quickly but then after 40 minutes of waiting we got a half empty plate with icy cold beans and something that was considered scrambles egg . EVERYTHING was cold and the pancakes we received were just a plate of raw batter. At the end the waiter has the audacity to bring a child to the table to take our payment in a sly attempt to stop us from complaining. Terrible experience.

This was the worst food I have ever been served, it was a breakfast 1 sausage 1bacon 1 mushroom 1 hash brown cold beans cold toast and so overpriced we had 1 orange juice and 1 cup of coffee with the so-called breakfast £35.67 also bringing a child to your table with the bill and asking her to take payment was a low trick. The experience was bad so bad and don't waste your money

We've been to Cooper's several times but this was our first evening experience with friends. Food was cooked fresh and was absolutely delicious! The choice on the new evening menu was pretty good, and the house wine also very acceptable. Great staff, great atmosphere, would definitely recommend and will definitely return again.

Absolutely fantastic. What a gem in Aigburth. We have been regular daytime customers for years’. The evening bistro is a big hit. In a way want to keep Coopers as a best secret but equally want local people to support a great place. Now with alcohol licence too. Great food, service impeccable (Rebecca, thank you) and value for money. (Comparatively to some of its neighbouring venues). So spreading the word .. sshhhh .. don’t tell everyone, let’s keep it for those in the know .. Coopers, Aigburth Road. (A couple of doors down from Justino’s).

Lovely place! Visited a few times now in the last year. Food always lovely. On today’s visit my friend and I each ordered fried calamari, fries, cokes and shared a pistachio cheese cake which was gorgeous! Decided to try coopers as it now has a license to serve alcohol , had been in the past , and the food was inedible , but as they have a new chef in the evening decided to take my wife , the revamped evening menu was various Indian dishes, I cook a lot of Indian food myself , so I know how tasty it can be ,the chef looked as though he was Indian ,so I tried the chicken madras my wife went for the beryami both meals were totally inedible the chicken was tough the flavours non existent, I asked to see the chef who turned out to be from Bangladesh, he had no idea about food , when asked him about the food he just smiled, I paid the bill gave the lovely waitress a good tip , I will never again set foot in coopers if I could I would give it minus 10 don’t bother going

Asked for poached eggs well done. Both runny. Waited 5 minutes for cutlery whilst the food went cold. Coffee looked and tasted like it was made of a pod machine. To top it off they had the cheek to add a service charge on. I only noticed when I got home. Won’t be returning. Can’t stand places that sneakily add service charges. No thanks.

My husband and I popped around for dinner - shared the Arancini and tricolore salad starters which were both absolutely delicious. I then had the steak and chips which was fab, my husband has the sea food spaghetti which he said was very tasty. Would highly recommend.

Really poor breakfast again not good enough…me and my girlfriend wanted to give this place another chance after our first episode when the waiter who’s an elderly chap with glasses maybe late 60s who catered for our table ….he managed to get our order wrong and instead of sending sourdough toast which was ordered he sent out thick brown bread crusts with a very average cold breakfast we put it down to his poor ability in being a waiter ….didn’t know if he was drafted in for the day but really poor…. We decided to give it one last chance as the owner Julian seems to be a nice guy… unfortunately the same old guy waiter was serving the menu he recognised myself and girlfriend and deliberately sent out a worse breakfast than last time…same brown crust bread and poor cold ingredients….bacon rubbery cheap poached egg hash brown full of oil beans like bullets sausage like a rubber hose pipe and black pudding was like putty… will not be attending this place again really nice little location but poor staff and chef

El Latino Breakfast and coffee really high standard and different ingredients is a welcome change I hope to return and try other things on the menu top class food.

I think it’s best to avoid ordering delivery from Coopers. Severely hungover on Sunday and I ordered an English breakfast. It was missing items, cold and had a hair in it. While the the quality of the ingredients was good, it was let down, other than what’s described above, by things like sending me the cob end of a loaf (when does anyone want the end of a loaf?) and bean rations; I could barely cover a slice of toast with what I was sent. It just collectively felt like a bit of a piss take. I imagine the experience is a lot better sitting in but it doesn’t translate to delivery.

We have have eaten here lots of times during the day so were happy to support evening opening. I had asked about a licence and was told bring your own. The food was as good as always however the bill was a shock as for a small glass of wine and 3 ready mixed tins of Gin and Tonic we were charged £12.50 corkage which seems excessive and we will not return of an evening and bring our own. Most places with no licence don’t charge however you buy your soft drinks from their premises which is perfectly understandable and we did buy bottles of fizzy water. Such a shame left a sour taste especially as it wasn’t mentioned when I enquired

We spotted this cafe whilst visiting Liverpool cricket club for the day and dropped by for a coffee and light lunch. We were very impressed with this small, friendly and busy coffee shop. Service was very attentive and there was a good choice of food on the menu, at reasonable prices too. We opted for the special toasties which were very tasty with good portion sizes. Only one very minor observation was that the side salad perhaps needed a dressing or chutney. Overall, we really enjoyed the hospitality and would highly recommend Coopers. It’s always nice to stubble across a well organised and independent eatery. Next time we’ll definitely try the desserts and cakes as they looked so good.

Went for their new bistro menu a week ago and have wanted to go back ever since! The food was delicious and so fresh! It tasted as good as it looked- beautiful presentation and well balanced flavours. The staff are so friendly and kids are really welcome- they devoured the home-made pizza! Don't forget to leave a little room for desert!

Granola didn’t have any berry compote. I have ordered from here a few times and on previous occasions there have been things missing (e.g chutney on rarebit) but I’ve not complained as I want to support local business. My order was £42 and so I expected a bit more care and attention this time sorry- disappointed eating my brunch!

I ordered the Mediterranean Breakfast. The hummus was leaking into the bag. The halloumi was undercooked. There was only 1 egg, not 2 as promised. It came with dry brown toast not pitta bread as promised. Disappointed and won't be ordering from here again. 6th August 2023.

Lovely coffee shop with pleasant and helpful staff. We visited at the end of the day and sat outside. We did not have food, but the coffees were lovely and the tables clean and welcoming.

Amazing dinner with small but delicious menu. Kids devoured their home made pizza, my spaghetti was perfectly balanced and my husband loved his steak! The puddings vanished in seconds! We love the atmosphere, friendliness of the staff and great value too for so much freshly prepared food

We had a party for 38 in the evening. Bespoke bistro menu, designed with the help of Julian. Staff couldn’t do enough to look after us. Rebecca and Dani were front of house on the night and were so attentive. Would definitely recommend!

Wish I knew beforehand that this place was under new management as I wouldn’t have went. I’m not one to leave bad reviews, but feel compelled to after this. My partner and I went for breakfast today first thing (9am) and we should’ve known something was off when there wasn’t a queue at the door. The decor had changed from its family friendly vibe to something completely different. The menu was completely different and we didn’t appreciate that they were no longer stocked up with their famous thick cut toast. My usual go to is cinnamon toast, but without this option, I opted for the short stack pancakes (pictured) and my partner opted for bacon on toast. The pancakes were surprisingly large but tasted horrible, so basically there was more of it to not enjoy. It was hard, crunchy and tasted like bitter lemon, which clashed with the maple syrup that was lightly poured on. To try and improve the taste I sprinkled 2 sachets of sugar on them but still tasted bad. My partner’s bacon on toast was nothing to write home about. Toast was something you can get from a local supermarket (this has been expressed by other recent reviews). We politely ate, paid and left and sat in the car for like 15 minutes puzzled as to why things had changed. After googling reviews, it was obvious that this was shared by other who’d recent dined there. Appears new management have kept the name but not things that made the place a go to spot, which is a shame. Don’t think we’ll be coming here for a good while now. Good point: Service was alright though, can’t fault the girls on that.
