Lovely food, friendly staff, nice pub with a great view. Dog friendly. Really enjoyed our time here. Will definitely go back next time.

Nice staff, but very average food. Okay prawn cocktail with a piece of limp sliced pan on the side, and fish and chips that, despite being 20 yards from the sea, did not taste remotely fresh.

Been a few times now and it has been consistently very good. Friendly staff and efficient service made for an enjoyable visit. Food was excellent. Calamari and Brown Shrimp both great for starters and the mains of Crab salad, Fish and Chips, and Lamb Kofta were all excellent. Always a good mix of people. And the selection of drinks is impressive. The Tribute is great!

I am referring to buying two ice creams. From the shop. Two hand held tubs. One with one scoop. One with two. Came to over £7. Not good at all. Could have bought a litre tub if I had known but just a compliant customer I paid. What a mug. Not again. Not happy

Visited for lunch as two couples and we were really impressed. We are planning to spend a lot of time in the area so finding that the local pub does brilliant food is a bonus. The sun was out so we sat outside, with a tremendous view out over the bay. Staff were very friendly, and service was great. Two crab salads and scampi were excellent. As a fan of fish and chips I can honestly say mine was the best fish and chips I have had in a long while. Pure white flaky fish with a light crisp batter, and lovely crispy chips. Wow! Looking forward to visiting again!

Great place for drinks after long walks, bonys was they efen serve coffee. nice beer garden to sit in, shelter for when it's raining.

Friendly staff, great local cuisine, with a shared mackerel pate and then two lovely Fish and Chips. Lovely local pint and my wife enjoyed a lovely glass of New Zealand White wine. No room for desserts sadly and only in the area for 1 night but thoroughly enjoyed our visit with our small dog under the table.

Called in for lunch having been walking the coast path. Friendly and welcoming staff and nice ambience in bar area. Menu was varied with something for every taste. Food was very good and a generous portion. I didn't stop for coffee or desert but may have done if someone had asked. Probably did me a favour! I would definitely go again.

Staying nearby for the Easter weekend, was our wedding anniversary and host suggested here for dinner. Dog friendly, was pretty noisy but we were sat in bar area, other areas quieter. Steak and ale pie was delicious and perfect portion size, lovely bakewell slice and custard

It’s a lovely place but don’t seem to understand the concept that you need a separate deep fat fryer for Gluten Free and also use a gluten salad dressing so I only had a steak and a tough one at that!

What a lovely, friendly pub! Everyone was super helpful with our range of dietary needs (vegetarian, gf vegetarian and a vegan). We had such a lovely evening and the food was great too. Will definitely be going there again when I’m next in the area.

Great staff! Staff very welcoming and helpful. Went in for a early lunch and couple of drinks and really enjoyed it. Lady behind the bar was excellent, even took time to come say hello and meet our bit nervous dog (who behaved very well inside and even had a nap) so she must of enjoyed the venue to! The food was so good and they allowed for an adult with a small appetite to have a kids meal.some places don't allow this, so this was great. The prices were a little high but kind of expected, but the food was good enough to warrant this. The staff were very friendly and attentive too

Would never usually leave reviews but this place was so poor we felt we had to. Service unfriendly (no table service either). Were sat at probably the worst table despite calling to book in advance. Restaurant area very dark and unpleasant. Food overpriced and bland. Greasy and just generally not very nice. Staff didn’t come to check whether we were enjoying our meal (we weren’t btw) Worst £25 ever spent.

Last minute visit after a change of plans for dinner and what an amazing location, to make the most of this it would have been great to have been seated overlooking the beach and sea, however food was fabulous and a great selection of specials. A popular spot!

Beautiful, peaceful relaxed beachfront location. Paid a bit more for room with terrace overlooking the sea. Bit noisy with the dining room underneath till pub closed, but worth it for the peace between and the views and sound of the sea. Very friendly helpful staff, nice food.

Lovely venue, sea views, excellent service. My partner had the excellent sirloin steak which was cooked perfectly, fresh salad. My only criticism is that my “chowder” was more of a fish soup. Lovely flavour, lovely fresh bread roll but I imagined I was going to get a substantial fish stew and was a little disappointed. Luckily, my partner couldn’t eat all her steak and so I didn’t go hungry!

Good food, friendly atmosphere. We were recommended this place by some locals we met in Boscastle, and we weren’t disappointed. We walked over from Boscastle and called in for Sunday lunch, luckily they had a cancellation - so we were in look.

When we arrived we were immediately seated and ordered around 7 mins (give or take a few) after we ordered, our food arrived and 1 min qfter we order drinks, they arrived. Very quick service 👌. we ordered a second round of drinks and again, very quick service. Food was delicious. Amazing time there, would recommend and will definitely come again.

How we needed the Coombe Barton Inn! We reached this wonderful pub after 14 very demanding miles of the SW Coast Path which had taken longer than we had anticipated. Knackered, cold and hungry everyone (locals and staff alike) made us feel welcome and despite our bedraggled state we were given our table and enjoyed a truly delicious meal. Staff were brilliant, really helpful and entertaining and even sussed out the best way to reach our accommodation which unfortunately was another mile up the hill. Draught cider and lager were well cared for and ensured the walk up the hill was, well, amusing! We would come back to Crackington Haven just for the pub and maybe next time we’ll book a room as well. Thank you :)

We visited Crackington Haven with friends and our 2 dogs and loved walking along the coastal path and the rugged coast, and thought we would have a pint and a bite to eat at the Coombs Barton Inn. We checked to make sure it was dog friendly and we’re told it was, so in we traipsed. We ordered drinks and the bar staff were excellent, polite and very friendly. We sat down and spent time looking over the menu, a fine selection of food. Having ordered food we enjoyed the ambience of the pub, they really must get a lot of footfall from passers by. The food came and it was very tasty, with good portions. However, our little Daxie was a little barky, not very loud or incessant at all, but enough to be cut the wrath of the chef (possibly owner?) who came out to us all red faced and quite irate to tell us ‘he had patrons to think about’ and if we couldn’t control our dog then he would need to ‘monitor the situation.’ Totally ruined the atmosphere. I’ll not be returning and feel it could have been handled much more sensibly and civil. If he had maybe sent one of the decent bar staff who no doubt would have been much more polite and decent rather than being so pinched and angry it wouldn’t have left a bad taste in my mouth. If you are a dog friendly pub then be so. Yes, it’s annoying when a dog barks, but try to be sensible about it, after all you work in the service industry, we keep you in business. Shame as the food and other staff was great, but you won’t be getting my custom again.

The Food was very good. You can't really fault it. Fresh greens, served with perfect meat dishes and excellent battered fish.However...... The service lacked the professional touch you expect when your paying what I'd call just over average prices for the meals . The Bar staff /waiter/ess were polite, but when it came to bringing your food it was simply slapped in front of you with NO question of would we like any sauces /have we got everything we needed. We weren't even asked when our plates were cleared if we wanted desserts, they simply walked off. For that reason I have given 3 stars. You can't have great food ,but poor service, it just doesn't work!! Sorry

Ate here 4 times during our week away in N Cornwall. Excellent every time. Would go back in a flash.They even rescued our Birthday celebration meal after the restaurant we had booked cancelled on the day. 10 out of 10 folks.Especially liked the braised beef and the sticky toffee pud.

We hadn’t booked but they were able to accommodate us so glad as our meal was so delicious! I had the shepherds pie and I’ve never has it the way they cook it there was no mince meat it was Succulent pieces of lamb which just melted in your mouth and was so flavoured my partner had a burger and even that was delicious our son had a childrens meal and the chicken strips were so big and juicy not dry all food was homemade we had a lovely time and one of the best meals we’ve had in a very long time!

From the very start it was a pleasant experience with The Coombe Barton Inn. We made the reservation via email and we received quick, efficient and professional replies from staff, which made the booking process easy. We were greeted by friendly staff on arrival, and promptly shown to our seat. I felt we were situated in a great place, we were not too close to any other table, but not excluded by ourselves. The restaurant is decorated lovely with fairy lights, and has kept the cosy traditional feel of an English pub/restaurant. Not forgetting the exceptional sea views. The menu was a good size and the special board was an added bonus. We felt well looked after by the staff, who were more than happy to answer any questions I had, as well as put forward recommendations. Service was prompt and in no way felt rushed. Each portion size was the right amount. The food was extremely tasty, I would highly recommend the squid as a starter, as it is one not to be missed. My partner's steak was cooked to perfection and melted in his mouth. The only recommendation I would have is to make a bit more effort with the desserts, saying that, we did enjoy all three courses. We felt the prices, from alcohol to mains, was fair and reasonable.The Coombe Barton Inn was a positive start to our weekend away to Crackington, after visiting from Devon. Although we are not local, we will be sure to visit The Coombe Barton Inn again next time we are in the area.

Crackington Haven is a delightful little village by the sea and we went into the Combe Barton Inn for coffee. The view of the bay from this Inn is amazing and the place was so inviting we booked a table for lunch. Unfortunately, the best tables for a view were booked so we settled for another. We chose Ham, Egg & chips from the menu because it included a fried DUCK egg. Whilst we were waiting the barman told us there had been a cancellation so we could sit at a table with a superb view. Well, this was no ordinary Ham, Egg & Chips, it was a warm Gammon steak, TWO duck eggs and some chips and all beautifully cooked, the chips being crisp on the outside and soft in the middle, the gammon was so tasty and the eggs were lovely. Altogether a delightful visit, charming staff and superb food, can't wait to visit again.

Terrible customer service. Called to book a table advising that we had a dog. The most surly woman I’ve ever dealt with spat out that the dog must be quiet and if it wasn’t we couldn’t come. I expressed that this was an extremely welcoming response at which point she shouted to not come then. Unpleasant and unprofessional.

Visited with my husband and our 1 Yr old whilst on holiday. Both food and service were excellent and we couldn't fault the place. Out of all the places we ate out at this was our favourite.

"No wet dogs inside" - ours was dry so we were told she was welcome. We sat well away from everyone else, but after she woofed 3 or 4 times we were made to feel very uncomfortable.Crab sandwiches were nice, but the filling didn't even reach the edges and they were a whopping £14 each!!!We won't be visiting again

We’ve booked on the day and the team managed to get us a table at the very last minute. We were not disappointed; the welcome we had as soon as we walked in, the food was amazing and the staff were ever so friendly. We will definitely remember this place on our next visit to Cornwall. Amazing view!

A bit disappointing as from the out looks looks lovely but felt very sparse and needed more homely atmospheric ,the part we were seated in was very very dark couldn’t even read the menu . Limited choices. Very little gluten free choices presentation could be better. Disappointing evening , as from the outside it looks lovely . Not sure I would go back

This has always been a fabulously reliable pub in terms of quality and service, location and views are spectacular and the food never disappoints. We salute the management for their clarity and consistency with their ongoing regard for covid safety (post restrictions being lifted) they’re obviously concerned with keeping everyone safe and understand haw to do this properly. If you want to eat out and feel you’re in safe hands all round put this place on the top of your list, and if you think covid is no longer an issue then please take your moaning and go and breathe on people somewhere else.

Fairly good food at reasonable prices given the location. Low king in atmosphere inside as it’s massive and can seat 100+ more than was seated when we were there in July 2021 at 2pm - surprising given how busy the car park was.

A fantastic location for a pub and the food was wonderful but the service was disappointing. We enquired about food whilst sat in the beach and told to come back later when menu would be available only to later be told it was fully booked and then found out by accident that you could sit outside first come first served. Also did a takeaway service that wasn’t mentioned. Told could not have a jug of water outside only to see other people with jugs of water with ice and lemon whilst we only had like warm glass of water each. Queues outside for service and appeared to be understaffed - queues right next to where we were eating and felt quite intrusive. Real shame as lovely food and location.

visited the pub / restaurant on 16/07/21 for a meal. The staff were welcoming and clearly had put thought and effort into making the Coombe experience a safe and enjoyable experience in these troubled Covid times. We felt very safe and we had a thoroughly enjoyable meal, the food was delicious and mixing with the locals and other visitors made for a really lovely evening. To be in a lovely Cornish restaurant with perfect sea views, and wonderful company, maybe not my best night out ever, but my best night this year!

We arrived at the Inn towards the end of our coast walk. We found the staff very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent and arrived very quickly at our table after we ordered. Highly recommend.

Last year I wrote a 5-star review for this place which we’ve been visiting for years. This time I am agreeing with some other recent reviewers that the the service is shambolic and pretty charmless too. Our drinks took so long to arrive - yet we watched others who were seated long after us receiving theirs - that the beer we ordered was no longer available. Then even though it was early evening we were told our number one choice was now unavailable. Then when the “whole roasted sea bass” arrived it was two quite small fillets. When we pointed out the discrepancy the guy simply said with no apology: “you should have been told”(!). I was opposite the bar and could see the chaos of drinks being left to sit for ages before being collected. Still a great location but a shame about the service.

Often come here when visiting my parents, had the steak bap, best I’ve ever had! The four of us that came agreed how lovely the food is. Lovely staff, beautiful setting, will always be coming back when over this way!

We stumbled upon this amazing restaurant whilst exploring. Wonderful location, perfect service, exceptional food, cooked to order and so very well prepared. Crab salad for my partner, fish cakes for me. So sad we only found this on our last day. Very highly recommended 🤩🤩

Husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in the room with an amazing view- our own balcony, looking out over the bay. We ate in both nights and had good dinners as well as well cooked breakfasts. Friendly staff. It is a pub not a plush hotel but that is what we wanted. All very clean and well run too.Highly recommended.

We booked our table in advance. We arrived on time but were ignored completely by the barman booking guests in.He was seating his mates who had walked in off the street, after us, talking over our heads. When he seated us, ten minutes later, we had what must have been the worst table in the house, in a draughty corridor, dark and gloomy. I couldn’t read the menu, it was so dark! We waited thirty more minutes until a waitress took our drinks and food order, then our food came but no drinks, we’d had all but finished our meal when the surly barman arrived with the drinks, dumped them down and stomped off.

Lovely location overlooking the bay, food was excellent although service was very slow and whilst polite wasn’t very attentive e.g. we didn’t get asked if we wanted more drinks etc. Defiantly would go back for another meal.

As you walk the final section of the coastal path down to Crackington Haven the Coombe Barton Inn stands out as a welcoming beacon. Friendly reception directed us to a lovely room with an outside balcony and stunning views of the raging sea on the beach right in front of us! Large en-suite with good quality toiletries and an excellent shower. Wonderful, friendly and helpful service in the bar/restaurant. Good menu choice and superb food. Great choice of breakfast customised to individual taste. Just what we all needed.

Good food, nice clean pub, COVID safe. Only negative if that it is a bit loud and echoey if family parties in with loud children. Not a relaxing place. Dog friendly.

We are usually so disappointed with meals out, particularly whilst on holiday but today was an exception. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, everything was well organised and the food was exceptionally good.

Called in for a drink on Tuesday as we had never been here before, despite having a holiday home in the area for the last 3 years! We liked the look of the menu so booked for the following evening. Had a delicious meal and staff were very switched onto the Covid procedures, felt very safe here. I had a gorgeous sirloin steak with chips and salad and my wife had chicken with some nicely cooked vegetables. Finished off with a lovely sticky toffee pudding, two pints of Moretti and a large Shiraz as the wife was driving, happy days! Even the chef came out and put a new log on the fire where we were sat, who was also very friendly. Will certainly head there next visit to Cornwall.

Excellent meal here. Service was very fast, and food was delicious. Good range of food on the menu- my partner had sausages and mash and I had a fantastic North African vegetable stew (a special that day). Tasty desserts too. For such a good meal, the bill was pleasantly low! All sensible Covid-precautions taken and we felt very safe. There is a guest carpark but it isn't the easiest to find in the dark.

We turned up at 8pm on a Thu without booking. They told us the kitchen closed at 8 so we started to leave, then the manager ran out to the car park to say that they would fit us in if we could order quickly, so we ordered 2 fish & chips in the car park and went back in! The food was excellent, service very good, white wine very cold, decent selection of good ales. We went a few times, it was always just as good, and on the other occasions we dropped them an email in the morning to book a table, although I think it’s only Fri & Sat that that was really necessary. Tables inside were very well spaced out, hand sanitiser was available, toilets were restricted to one person only, staff all wore masks. It felt very COVID safe.A couple of other days we sat outside for a drink which was also lovely because of the great view of the beach & sea.

A great find while away, phoned and made reservation. Greeted by friendly staff everything great in regards to Social Distancing etc. Fantastic feel to the whole place, the waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. The meal was awesome absolutely the best meal we have had in long time, big acknowledgement to the chef on skills here both had the Hake. Only wish it was our local.

We were staying nearby and had a birthday to celebrate. Felt extremely welcome and very safe with excellent service from friendly staff.Had the chicken and mushroom pie that had been prepared that day and was very good indeed. Partner had the halloumi burger that was also delicious.All in all extremely good and would certainly recommend.

We always come back to this pub when in Cornwall. It has had some ups and downs but last week the food was excellent and the service was both friendly and attentive. We dined three times. The location is on of the best in England!

Crackington Haven has a nice pub, the Coombe Barton Inn. Greeted warmly at the door, following COVID protocol. The staff remained friendly & attentive throughout. Stopped for a drink & food. Hake chowder was delicious and the crab salad equally nice. For those with dogs, I believe there is a dog friendly room/area and a separate room/area for customers without pets. Glad we stopped. Would recommend to all.

Went for a celebration birthday meal for my mother=inlaws birthday lovely meal and made even nicer as when the staff brought out her birthday cake they all sang happy birthday and even the other diners sang we will definitely return Amazing hospitality .

Difficult CoVid times but they have set up more tables outside. They were not participating in the 'dine out to save the government' thing - so was not over crowded. Their fish and chips was amazing and real mushy peas.

Lovely pub. We sat at a table outside, then went to a window at the side of the pub where you order from. We only had drinks but they were bought direct to the table. Others had food which all looked nice. Floor is taped out for distancing and the ordering system works well to have no close interaction with anyone. Due to the number of tables outside, the car park is reduced but there’s a meter paid car paid next door, cash only. 80p for an hour and £1.50 for two hours.

We ate here prior to watching the sunset. As the weather was great we ate outside. It is certainly worth booking as the place is quite popular. The food was excellent especially the halloumi burger and steak. Service was very quick.

Had a superb experience this week. A careful, safe yet comfortable family lunch.The staff were just brilliant and exuded confidence despite the COVID 19 restrictions.We sat out in the beer garden to enjoy amazing salt and pepper squid. The batter was just perfect! Following this a mighty Cornish Mackerel Salad. This was so fresh and tasty with a very generous portion of mackerel.Washed down with cold Rattler.A real treat and enjoyable experience.Thanks to the great team!

Forget the stupid review prior to this.......The Coombe Barton Inn is the best place we have visited in Cornwall yet. Food great, staff great and the have Covid-19 measure well under control. It’s a great place and I can’t wait to go back!!

If you like eating in a freezing car-park because the ' the management have decided' that unless its raining you're outside, then you'll love this. Yes, the location is great and yes we all need to follow covid guidelines, but with a large room and ample spacing inside it wasnt easy to understand why our overpriced and very average meal had to be eaten outside when it was a balmy 16degrees C! Disapointing service, food and experience generally.

It was straight forward burger and chips but faultless in every respect.Because of the new world we live in, the pub were only serving food outside on tables in the car park but this gave wonderful views of the late evening sun over Crackington Haven in a way only the North Cornwall coast line does with sheer rock giving a dramatic vista.The staff a re very good and a lot of effort had gone into ensuring social distancing was being observed and of course we had to book which is to be expected. The web site gives plenty of detail as to how they are managing COVID-19.We are planning to come back to the area in the not too distant future and look forward to coming back to the pub then.

This is a delightful pub in a fantastic spot overlooking the beach. The food is amazing and freshly cooked. My favourite is the Sunday roast.

This is a lovely warm, dog friendly pub nnestled down in the dips of Crackington Haven, overlooking the sea. Staff were welcoming and food was great - would recommend the salt and pepper squid with sweet chilly sauce.

What a find, this was recommended to us and we are very grateful for that!Potted shrimp starter - excellent. Squid starter - delicious.Steak, chips and peppercorn sauce (with a drop of brandy I think) was spot on and the chowder was perfect.We didn't have room for puddings.Great food at the right price. Friendly helpful staff too.

Called in after a long walk for a light lunch. The menu looked amazing and very varied. It was all so tempting we ended up ordering hake chowder and brisket cottage pie. A view over the beach with rolling waves plus an excellent pint. What more could you want? Friendly bar staff and the best food I have tasted for a long time.

Cannot fault this place, the staff, food, location were all top notch!! We normally try to visit a different eatery every day when travelling about but we ended up here 3 times over the week, it was that good! Curry night was amazing!!!Dog friendly too (may be just out of season) which is an added bonus!!

Brilliant day watching the waves at Crackington Haven. Stopped for lunch and had an excellent steak sandwich and pint on an out of season Monday. We (including dog) were made very welcome.

The Coombe Barton Inn has a very welcoming ambience and nice bar area and what a view! there is a varied and interesting menu.We called in a 1pm on Sunday and the Inn was packed but the staff were very friendly and welcoming & got us a table for 6 for 2pm what a result. We all had the Sunday roast beautifully cooked and presented by very lovely helpful staff .The service in the inn is excellent.We highly recommend the Coombe Barton to all.We are now planning to stay at the inn its that good.

Very rarely do we eat at the same place twice when on holiday, choosing a few different places is the norm. However our visit for Sunday Lunch was so good that we just had to sample more before we left.Slow braised beef rib, mackerel salad, fish and chips and a wide range of starters and didn't find a bad one in it. Amazing food, fantastic service and the dog and babies were made very welcome. Already planning our return next year!!!

Went for lunch at the coombebarton The food and service was lovely,the steak sandwich is the best around by far. And the crab salad was amazing Will definitely be back soon

Stopped here for a light lunch before arriving at our booked holiday cottage. Met up with our friends and were seated with no trouble at all. Staff friendly and attentive to allergy information. Fish and chips, Goats cheese slices were ordered and consumed with vigor. Both dishes were very tasty and filling. As we were driving soft drinks were ordered but noticed that there was a good range of beers, lagers and cider. Highly recommended. Note of caution if driving, avoid school run times as road very narrow and you may meet the school bus coming down and nowhere to pass!
