Went there for Sunday lunch which was fabulous, a full choice of Beef, Belly Pork, Chicken and Salmon plus a veggie option too. Everything served piping hot with great vegetables and roasties.

We have stayed at the hotel many times and we have always enjoyed the food. On this visit my wife particularly liked the linguine with king prawns (must have been good because she had it three nights in a row). I tried the green curry and on one night I just asked the kitchen for a sandwich - no problem. In January there was a promo of a pie and a pint for £15 - bargain and a very fine pie! Butcombe and DoomBar on draught and both in perfect condition. Service has always been friendly and efficient and we have no hesitation in recommending the restaurant and bar.

We did not stay in the hotel, only ate in the restaurant. Whilst I appreciate it was Christmas, we felt rushed and for the price, the food was only ok. Batter on the Cod and chips was too thick, and as it was thick, under cooked. Burgers were greasy and items missing off the desert menu. I told the serving staff, and no offer of any compensation.

Very busy during the time we were there. We were placed in the restaurant between two large groups of people and felt very uncomfortable. Moved after main course to small lounge which was an improvement. Second night we booked to sit in the bar which wasn’t we hoped for but at least quiet. Food and service very good. Breakfast, however wasn’t as good and took a very, very long time. Regrettably wouldn’t visit again as dining facilities too uncomfortable for us.

First time visit here as we were looking for somewhere local to where we were staying in Chard. The satnav took us through a housing estate and down a long narrow lane. Welcomed warmly and we chose the conservatory to sit. My partner selected cod and chips and me the Thai green curry. We were glad that we didn't have starters as well. Portions very generous and all fresh and hot My curry was excellent, full of flavour and well presented My partner loved he fish and chips, even the peas were first class. Friendly service, nice atmosphere and clean toilets.

Stayed here for 2 nights and ended up eating at the restaurant twice, as where we wanted to go on the second night was fully booked! Two great meals and not too costly.

We went for a meal, which was simply fantastic. The food was of very high quality in both taste and presentation! Would certainly recommend the ‘Duo of Lamb’. In the current situation everything was laid out adhering to the guidelines and felt very safe.

A local favourite of ours, so much so we even chose Lordleaze to have our wedding this year. Have always had Amazing food and excellent friendly service, where the staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome.

Absolutely delicious dinner with friends who were staying in the hotel. Can recommend the pork and the sea bass. Service was excellent and we were never hurried. Only thing lacking was ambience in the restaurant.

Just returned from our second visit to this hotel. A really good centre for exploring South Somerset and the Jurassic Coast of Dorset and Devon. Exceptional service all the time from friendly and helpful staff. In addition very good value for money as we were participating in a special offer. Their meals are extremely good both in quality and quantity, and you have the choice of eating in the restaurant or bar. Think all rooms are en suite with comfortable beds. Will definitely return.

We were a party of 7 adults and 2 children and to a person we all enjoyed our meals, they were nicely presented and cooked to everyone's liking.It is reasonable on prices and portions, and Martin our waiter was very pleasant and helpful, in spite of having to do 3/4 jobs at the same time, which unfortunately meant the bar was unattended on occasions which was not his fault!!!!!Overall a very pleasant experience and I would return.

From the time we walked through the door till the time we left the service from staff was exceptional. Everybody greeted you with a smile and every member of staff made you feel very special. A mention must go to Martin who worked between the bar, restaurant and reception. He was keen to share local history and was excellent at making a good G&T. The food in the restaurant was exceptional and creative and pleasantly cheaper than you would expect to pay for such wonderful food. The rooms were lovely and very clean and had character. We opted for the continental breakfast which was lovely, much nicer than we’ve had in any other hotel. We were sad to leave and will definitely return. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful stay

Really tasty food, well presented and most seemed realistically priced. The cod and chips was extremely tasty and moist.

Hotel very comfortable and pleasant setting Restaurant: very good menu And on both evenings food delicious Up to Saturday evening would have given 5 star plus but Small incident on Saturday when apparently we were sat on wrong table ! By staff and told if wanted Dessert would have to have in bar as needed table Although Hotel staff were very apologetic later in evening and following day Brilliant base for local places to visit Donkey Sanctuary a must

We were staying for a couple of nights and chose to have dinner in the restaurant; it was a good decision. We both had the duck which was beautifully cooked and accompanied. Followed by one of the best sticky toffee puddings I've ever eaten (and I've tried a few!). The service was excellent, reasonable prices - what's not to like?!

The food is a true Al La Carte and beautifully cooked and the meals we had were so tasty. I highly recommend to anyone to try.

Went here to celebrate the new year. The food was delicious. The staff were all very friendly and happy to serve you. The band were brilliant and the dance floor was always busy. The staff joining in the celebrations was great. Will definitely go back and thoroughly recommend it.

We stayed overnight as a break on way home, and it being a bargain offer.

We had Xmas lunch here and all I can say is wow.

Ate here as we were staying at the hotel. There was a good selection on the menu and the food quality was excellent.

stayed here again, lovely large rooms, good food,nice staff & just a pleasure to find somewhere you can feel so relaxed, well worth a visit.

The meals are delicious, the waiters and waitresses are friendly and efficient and the view over the gardens is beautiful.

We stayed at the hotel for three nights over Easter and ate in the restaurant twice. Both meals were great, the menu was varied but not extensive, food well cooked and presented, wines reasonable price and good choice, and a welcome residents discount. Staff were very good, quick, knowledgeable and efficient. Hotel clean and tidy with a good bar/ lounge area. Plenty to do in the area so provides a good base. Well recommended.

Stayed at the hotel which was very good. The dinner was average and over priced for average food. My partner had roast belly of pork which he described as seemed to be heated up.

Food was beautiful not just your standard dinner presented beautifully.cannot fault the food ,or the service or the staff.they are all a credit to the hotel.I think a hotel is only as good if the staff are happy, everyone there was so caring, our compliments to the chef.

We came here for a meal and enjoyed it so much we came back a second time. The food was fresh and of a high quality, the service impeccable and the place was clean and friendly.

Friendly efficient staff, nothing too much trouble. excellent food and variety of menu. Locally sourced food with names of suppliers listed at back of menu. Would have loved to try a sweet but never had room for one.

Having read other reviews for this restaurant we were not expecting what we received; a lovely meal in pleasant surroundings served by friendly, smiling young ladies. The food was good, well cooked and plenty of it. The desserts were good too!

11 de nosotros fuimos para un almuerzo de celebración de ayer y eran bastante impresionada con el almuerzo que tuvimos. comenzó bien con una bienvenida cálida y personal muy agradable. Sin embargo todos fuimos cuesta abajo cuando la comida llegamos. En primer lugar nos ofrecieron un rollo, sin embargo, nos dieron la mitad de un rollo cada uno, lo cual era tan crujiente se desintegró. Nunca antes he estado sirve media un rollo. Aparte de eso, los entrantes estaban bien. Los platos principales fueron todos los asados, cordero, ternera y Turquía y también salmón. Las carnes todo sabía bien, pero las raciones eran minuscule, 2 muy rebanadas delgadas. Las patatas asadas y crujientes nuevo bueno pero tres pequeñas piezas ( ni siquiera equivalente a uno cada toda). Las verduras eran terribles coles de Bruselas crucificado y unas pocas zanahorias eran todos conseguimos. Pedimos la camarera para mas patatas y apareció con un diminuto Bowl que ni siquiera darnos una más trozo cada uno. Los postres estaban bien. En general, este esfuerzo no fue bueno y sería reacio a volver ya que hay muchos otros restaurantes locales que belleza supera con creces las esta pena.

He estado en este hotel en unas cuantas ocations y cada vez esperando que la comida era mejor que la anterior.
