Food was ok but the service was terrible. Food was 75 minutes late. Called once when it was 20 minutes late only to be told he was leaving and 20 minutes later to be told the same thing. Then checked via the app only to be told another 15 minutes. It's Saturday and understand it can be busy, but it was the lying I didn't appreciate.

Initial delivery was 7.35pm when placing order on Just Eat, when restaurant confirmed it was 8.05pm eventually got the order at 9.20pm after trying to find out where it was. The food was quite plain, the chips were cold had to microwave them & the onion bahji’s were dry, powdery and cold as well. The food was so late that our son wouldn’t eat it in the end as it was too late for him. Disappointed as this is the first Take away curry we’ve had in a long time and we were really looking forward to it,

do not even think about ordering from them again. the other reviewers are right- they are not value for money. prawns are small, curry is watery, biryani dry,arrived extremely late, generally unhelpful when called. not worth the hassle. Justeat- please reconsider partnering with them- it is tarnishing your good reputation.

Delivery: after waiting half an hour past the delivery time I called the restaurant, to be told that my order was on its way. After 50 minutes I called again and was told it was on its way. I explained, that's what I was told before and I was told if there was a problem they would let me know. This is an attitude problem that needs to be rectified. I explained that it already was a problem and could I have the driver's number and then I could speak to them and explain how he can find us. She couldn't do this at first because they have 2 drivers and she didn't know which had our food. This is a tracebility issue and they need to rectify this, especially with Covid at the moment. As one driver arrived back at the restaurant at that moment the person on the phone then gave me the other drivers number, and on calling him I managed to explain where we lived and he arrived 15 minutes later. Yay! Resolved..by me...not the restaurant. Poor show Connoisseur. Food: Starters were lovely. Main meals were thoroughly average. The yogurt dips (3 of them, how generous) were all fizzy (perhaps generous is not the word, and perhaps they were just trying to palm off old stock?). We were disappointed to say the least Connoisser, after waiting all that time, we had hoped for a worthy meal. Would we order from here again?: No... the unhelpful attitude of the lady on the phone, the lateness of the delivery, and the fizziness of the dips, ie food on the turn and going over, have put us right off. Which is a shame because there were lots of other tempting dishes on the menu that we would have liked to have tried, that aren't available locally - but once bitten, twice shy.

Barely ok wouldn’t order again

It was good. But can improve on packaging. The yogourt containers isn't good enough for it and liquid escaped. I was a mess as all the other paper bag were wet underneath. Also driver needs to be patient. I'm in a small 1 bed flat and I rang twice before I even got a chance to get to the door LOL

Food was ordered at 6.10pm due to come at 7.25pm. Didn’t turn up until 8.10. It was barely warm and the chips were cold. When I called the restaurant to ask where the food was I was assured it would be hot. Wouldn’t go again. Requested money back and have had no response.

Nans were burnt...chips extreamly greasy....had to wait 30 mins after pick up time for food to be ready.

Food delivered over an hour and a half late, delivery driver wouldn’t read or listen to instructions to find house, and food was lukewarm at best. Restaurant then refused to give even a small amount of compensation. Disappointing as food would have tasted nice if arrived hot, but not worth the effort, wouldn’t order again.

8:35pm estimated delivery and it arrived with no apology at 10pm!!! I rang at 9pm and was told it would be 10min again no apology and I rang again at 9:30pm and the lady on the phone told me it left 5min ago??? Worst service I’ve had via just eat app and I would like an apology and refund but doubt I will receive either!!!

Best butter chicken in Gloucester. No problems with delivery as highlighted in other comments. Food arrived warm, however, samosas were slightly over fried.

It hurts me to have to leave such a negative review for one of the oldest Indian restaurants in Gloucester but I’m afraid the delivery service is just nowhere near acceptable. This is not only mine but the views of others who have fed back to me recently. We ordered at Around 6.00 pm and were given a 7.10 delivery time - not great but willing to accept it given the quality of the food. 7.30 came along and nothing. Rang to chase up to be told that it was on its way. Finally arrived at 8.00 - Barely warm!! Couldn’t blame the delivery guy who was polite but clearly embarrassed.Food was fine after we warmed it up but I’m afraid that the delay was simply unacceptable.Its the end of a 20 year plus era for me as I’m afraid I’ll never return to the connoisseur. So sad!!!

When booking delivery time was estimated at 25-30 mins, when the order went through it extended to 50 minutes. 10 minutes after our food was supposed to arrive the delivery was put back a further 10 minutes. Eventually arrived 25 minutes later, more than an hour and 30 min after the online reservation. The rice was overcooked and hard, the naan bread and chicken pakora were ok, believe it or not the tikka masala was actually fairly good! Trouble was we were all eating at almost 10pm due to the delay in delivery which put a bit of a downer on the evening. Overall the whole experience was terrible. Do not order from here.

The food was good but the delivery and service was rubbish sry

Food was exceptionally late. How ever The scampi and chips korma onion bhajis or very nice. Nuns were in fact excellent. However the butter chicken and mushroom rice could have some work done to it.

The delivery driver needs to follow sat nav, I also put a message on the original order that he needs to come down the lane he has delivered here before. The sat nav drives right up to the house. Really bad service as food was cold when arrived and we had to reheat the food, the whole point of a takeaway was not to use the oven.

Absolutely terrible service. We were given a time by which the driver didn’t show up by. After calling the restaurant and being told “10 minutes” after being accused and moaned at for putting the wrong postcode in, which was clearly false as the correct one was on our order, called again “10 minutes”, no one showed. We called the restaurant again who said they will call back but never did and then proceeded to ignore our calls. We finally got ahold of them and asked for the driver’s number, which we got who then proceeded to talk extremely rudely when we picked up the food saying over the phone “quickly, quickly, quickly...” turns out they were parked in the wrong place after we gave clear instructions on where to deliver the food in the order. When we got there, the driver proceeded to shout and be very rude, never gave us the 2L Coca Cola that we ordered, tried to not give us £5 in change claiming he had none but then magically pulled some out of his pocket after we said that we would be taking the money back. We received our food over an hour after the given delivery time. The food itself, despite loosing most of it’s heat was terrible. The poppadoms tasted like cardboard, the curry was watery and the rice was horrible. I highly recommend looming elsewhere for a curry.

Ordered at 7.07pm, food arrived at 10.08pm! Appalling service when speaking to the restaurant to chase order x4. I was even shouted at by the lady who refused to call the driver and didnt apologise for delay. Driver complained it was a long way when he arrived (7.3miles from restaurant) food was obviously cold when arrived. Breads and chips went in bin. Restaurant also logged order as delivered way before it was and said this happens automatically (I'm not so sure). They need to reduce their delivery radius.

The services was absolutely shocking. Spent over two hours waiting, called up several times with a very non apologetic lady telling me it’s on its way several times. Another hour passed called again, it’s still on it’s way the third phone call she ignored her phone calls. . more time passed (said takeaway was already delivered) after over two hours I finally get a knock on the door.. no apology. Will never be ordering from here again! Really needs to sort their costumer service out and delivery time.

It’s been over an hour and a half since we ordered and they still haven’t arrived even though saying it’s been delivered. We’ve rang the restaurant 3 times and the woman was very rude blaming me for their error. We ordered the curry at 5:45 and it’s now gone 8:00

Well over 2 hours still no sign how can you run this place with the amount of poor reviews all leading to hours of late delivery!!! When and if my food arrives there being sent away with the food! Shame

Even after repeated phone calls to the restaurant and promises that the delivery driver was on his way, nobody showed up! I advise people not to order food for delivery from this restaurant!

Food was Awful sorry to say won’t be ordering from there again

A very unsatisfactory service one again, and this is the third time in a row phoned my order in just after 5.30pm asked how long it would take and was told half hour. Got to restaurant just after 6 and husband sat in there for a further half hour. Thought it would be quicker going to collect meal as on previous occasions have waited over two hours for delivery. MY DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO THE CONNOISSEUR R.I.P. WILL NEVER PLACE AN ORDER WITH YOU AGAIN

Despite ordering the food in the early evening, it took nearly 3 hours and 4 phone-calls for the food to actually arrive. Whilst the staff were friendly, they were incredibly unhelpful. Each time that we called we were told that the food would be there in 10 minutes, however it never was. When the food finally did arrive it was not only luke warm but also very bland and tasteless. Worst of all, the onion bhaji's that we paid for were not there. 10/10 would NOT recommend.

Mi esposa ordenó esto en una aplicación en línea de chef. El trato tenía una buena relación calidad-precio y se le informó la hora de llegada para la entrega. 20 minutos después estoy llamando para averiguar dónde está? Llegó 5 minutos después y es tanto que tenemos suficiente para el té mañana. Pero la larga espera significa que usaremos una comida para llevar más próxima en el futuro.

Pedí un poco de comida de deliveryoo de estos y esperé 2 horas solo para descubrir que habían marcado el pedido como entregado, ¡absolutamente desagradable servicio! ! Afortunadamente, Deliveroo acreditó completamente mi pedido. Definitley no recomienda este restaurante si lo que estás buscando es un gran servicio. !

Found this place using the dine card app. It had a 5* Food Hygiene rating so I thought it must be OK as it's hard to go wrong with Tandoori. Well apparently it's easier to go wrong with it than I thought. Customer service attitude was completely wrong for a start. There was no background music or anything which meant I could hear exactly what was going on in the kitchen. Being the only customer in the place was extremely awkward as a result. The papadums and dip were fine, although some of the dip portions were very stingy. The main course though was awful. There was no flavour to the curry, the vegetables were clearly from a packet of frozen mixed veg, and the naan bread was tiny and also disintegrated to power. Very disappointed. Will not be returning.

Ordered via Just Eat -Food was over 30 mins late, 50% of it was stone cold. Called them up & was told food was not cold I was a bad customer! Blamed the wind & rain! Also I was banned from ordering again. I am in shock at how I was spoken too by the restaurant - Never expected that from a restaurant that has been in the city so long!

Ordered a takeaway through Just Eat at 18.30. By 21.30 it has still not arrived despite many phone calls to the restaurant (all unanswered). Very disappointing as have ordered before and their service has been timely. Will not be ordering from them again. Avoid at all costs.

Looked like a standard Indian restaurant, the menu was fine . The service unsatisfactory as got the order wrong and was uninterested in serving.very cold so asked for heating on it was put on for 10 minutes!! The decor was from the 80s and looked quite faded and slightly grubby,. Wished we had left after the poppadoms. In general it was grim.

Great experiences here. Always nice food and friendly staff. The curries are lovely as is the rest of the menu. Very well priced but very small car park.

Probably the worst Indian takeaway I've had for a long time chicken korma was basically 95%sauce rice was ok cheese naan cold chips were greasier than the film overall late food and poor food = grumpy customer also no apologies for being late or any compensation I won't order from here ever again

I booked a table of four on a Thursday evening to celebrate a friends birthday. At the time of booking there was an offer of 20% of the total bill by booking online(I am pleased to say that this was honoured). On arrival at the restaurant at 8.00pm we went in to find it completely empty. We were not greeted by anyone however there was a woman at the back who when I explained that we had booked a table instructed us to sit anywhere we liked. The restaurant is tired and dated and we began to wonder whether we had made a mistake as the Nepalese restaurant next door was a lot busier. We were the only customers in the restaurant for the duration of our meal. When I tried to order draught Cobra I was informed they did not have any draught beer only bottles. I am pleased to say that the food that we ordered was good and was ready in a reasonable time. Overall we had a pleasant enough experience and created our own atmosphere and entertainment. I am doubtful that we would return here.

He estado utilizando este restaurante desde 2000 y su tasa de entrega de comida estupenda es tan alto que estoy casi estar habituado a esperar el mejor! This Indian restaurant is on the London road into Gloucester. There is a large menu on the outside of the building and is next to the Nepalese restaurant which was very busy. It looks as if it could do with some TLC on the outside, (especially as next door is very modern looking) but was nicely set up and clean in the restaurant. There was only a couple of people eating and we were a bit dubious about eating in there. We ordered the set menu for £23 pp and was duly served our meal, the waitress was nice and obliging. We had poppadoms, onion bahjees, samosa and chicken tikka masala and meat bhuna, with two rice dishes and a naan. We were all pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the food. It was good value for money.

Normally very good. However, on this occasion the food was late. I called 15 mins after original delivery time and I was informed it would be another 10 mins, which ended up being 20 mins. I unpacked the order and the meat dish was incorrect. Very disappointed, but i hope this is a one off. I would use again.

I had my first ever Indian meal here in the late 1980s. In a fit of nostalgia I ordered the same meal for delivery. I haven't eaten from here for around 8 years but I was at a friend's house. The lady taking the order was polite and helpful. She gave me a delivery time of one hour. It arrived in 57 minutes. My Pakoras were crisp and tasty and my Chicken Tikka Malayan was amazing. Not greasy and full of meat. The rice was fluffy and fresh. I see that the decor has been hammered but it's an old restaurant. I'm judging the food and delivery service. Both were excellent. I'd certainly use The Connoisseur again.

Arrived 50 mins late and was cold. But easy to hit up in the oven. The meal was tasty, spices and more-ish. So pat on the back for the chef and the delivery man was friendly and apologised for the lateness. So improve on the times. Will order again. Very nice. Food was voluptuous.

Despite clearly saying do not deliver before specified time on the notes, plus picking the time when I pre ordered the meal, it still turned up over an hour early, they obviously don't check the orders properly, I wasn't able to enjoy my meal peacefully as planned either as it turned up while I was running the children's bath

Waited 2hrs and no delivery rang up and told they've muddled the order up it will be another 20 minutes atleast! That's if it would ever come, absolute joke had to cancel order and put a frozen pizza in in the end. Ruined my night. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
