After you've had a compulsory Martini, explore their Tiempo menu. Fresh and inventive ideas including the slightly spicy Capture - arguably one of the best drinks on the menu.

What a fabulous experience. My wife and I felt like we stepped back into the 20’s. The service was phenomenal. Right away our coats were taken and we were given an aperitif, olives, and gourmet pretzels (these were a highlight). Our server helped us choose cocktails based on our likings. This was a core memory for us. We will not forget it and already can’t wait to return to the Connaught Bar.

We had planned the perfect girls’ weekend. My best friend flew in from Atlanta to London, and I took the train from Paris to London. Everything was going well until we encountered an unpleasant experience at this well-known bar. We fully understand that non-hotel guests do not have priority access to the bar and that tables may not always be available. However, what truly stood out was the stark difference in how we were treated. When the white guests ahead of us inquired about tables, they were met with utmost politeness despite the lack of availability. But when it was our turn, the staff’s attitude was incredibly rude and arrogant. It was clear that the difference in treatment was because of our Asian appearance. Having lived in both the US and France for so many years and traveled extensively to many prestigious places around the world, including numerous visits to London. this was the first time we ever felt subjected to racial discrimination.

I have just left The Connaught extremely angry. Upon entering with my partner, I was asked where we were heading and I said to the Connaught Bar. The member of staff asked if we had a reservation to which I said no, you cannot book and he said this was correct - in which case, why ask the question? Then he refused to let me and my partner wait stating it was full. To our right, members of the public were waiting to enter the other bar within the hotel, so I really have no idea why we were asked specifically to leave. I’ve frequented at The Connaught bar many times before - also when you were able to book - and have never been treated in this way before. Terrible.

Unfortunately this place has geared to tourists. Deliberate creation of queues even though tables are unoccupied. The token gift cocktail is unfortunately a sign of classless consumerism. We left after one drink to find somewhere with a bit more class. Depressingly disappointing, unfortunately.

It's been a few years since I last visited this bar, but I still think about it often and use it as a touchstone for what luxury hotel bars can aspire to be if they really want to try. It's one of the few bars on top bar lists that really makes sense. There is a very determined and dedicated attempt to create not only inspiring signatures but also elevate classics, so that there is a cocktail for anybody, whether you're old school or new school. And honestly, some of their signatures are inspiring. I've personally been floored by how sophisticated their creations are, all while still managing to be creative and eye-catching. I made a riff similar to one the cocktails (in concept, not ingredients) I tried here at my own bar, and it was adored by everyone. It ended up being the most popular drink of the season. At the time I was here, the cocktail I'm talking about was ahead of the curve of cocktail trends, and shortly after, so many craft cocktail bars had picked up on it. In that way, I do think the Connaught sometimes acts as a leader in the cocktail world, rather than yet another follower of trends. Also, you have to love the tableside bespoke martini service. Sure, it's a bit gimmicky but like old-school, traditional continental elegance, it somehow fits seamlessly into the vibe of the Connaught. It's also an excellent way to get exactly the martini you want, which I did. Even my near-impossible-to-please partner was pleasantly surprised by the quality of cocktails. We had only stopped in for one cocktail before dinner, but ended up staying for many. It was such a fantastic experience. Every drink was note-perfect. The menu design was impeccable. The service attentive and warm. One day I will return.

Disappointing first impression unfortunately. We arrived around 6pm on a Friday and there wasn’t a queue for the bar, and also a few empty tables available. They don’t take any table reservations (allegedly) so we thought we were in luck! Sadly this wasn’t the case as the barman seating guests asked if we were staying at the hotel, we weren’t, and he confirmed those tables were kept only for hotel guests. Instead he took us to the stand up bar area which was very crowded and small. Now I’m sorry but for £20-30 a cocktail we would expect a seat to enjoy our drinks, not stood up in a cramped bar like we’re at the local Wetherspoons. We only came to enjoy a cocktail or two before our dinner reservation elsewhere. We decided to try somewhere else instead, and found a lovely hospitable cocktail bar down the road that seated us straight away. There was still no queue and empty seats when we walked out of The Connaught Bar so they’re turning down customers for nothing. I understand they want to prioritise hotel guests and give them a good experience, but there was no one queuing at all! It came across as a very snooty environment for that reason so I’m not sure we’ll bother returning, despite their reputation as a fantastic cocktail bar. The barman doing the seating was very polite, so one saving grace there.

Missing that 5* touch! Went for the famous Connaught martini and we were severely disappointed at the lack of attention to detail. The waitress sat us and gave us some bar snacks. All very nice. After 5 mins they asked my wife if we were ready to order, but we weren’t yet so she asked for them to come back In 1 minute. I should note that at this point the bar was empty. The waitress came back 10 MINUTES later; by which time the bar now had 4-5 couples who’d just arrived sitting and waiting to order. We attempted to order the famous Connaught martini, to then be told it was a 20 min wait because all the other tables had just ordered one! So what we now have is 3 tables who’ve arrived and ordered before us who now have a 7-10 min wait from arrival time receiving their drink, to us who now have 40 MINUTES for the same wait. No thought at all from the non-caring Eastern European waitress as to guest experience. Just grinding through her shift not caring and seeing everything f as black and white. It what I’d expect from somewhere that expected £60 for two drinks. Totally missing that edge that you get from the best establishments. Wouldn’t go back as a result!

I targeted The Connaught Bar having read of their reputation and interesting take on martinis. I brought friends. A totally captivating experience. The opportunity to "customize" your drink and the presentation was edifying. The martinis were excellent. The ambiance is seductive. The staff could not have been more accommodating. But for me the highlight of the visit was Oscar and Agostino. An unbelievable pair. Gentlemen. Gracious to a "T". We had wonderful conversations about the bar, their martinis and London drinking in general, as well as more personal stories. I returned two more times with friends knowing we'd have a perfect evening and I was not disappointed. I have visited a number of highly rated London cocktail bars and can say without reservation that The Connaught Bar is my number one choice to return to. Not just for the drinks but for the interactions with the staff. Especially Oscar and Agostini.

The humble martini can be anything but humble when it’s done right and this is one of the best. I had mine made at my table from the martini trolley, it’s bespoke and you get to pick 3 components that you’d like yours to posses. Then it’s prepared with style, grace and professional enthusiasm! I just had one as I had a meeting after, so it was a perfect boost to my happiness levels. I’ll be honest, I do love Dukes (if you know, you know) and they’ll always have a special place in my heart. I first came here in November last year and had a lovely time because we had Charlie serving us. He is brilliant and as I found out, trained and came from Claridges. We had a lovely time and he made us feel welcome and like we belonged. Other staff members were also friendly and engaging such as Selena and Alessandro. However, on the five other occasions I returned it didn't always feel nice. I would have a drink, but it always felt a bit flat and there is a really tall white dude who never smiles and just aggressively pours your champagne for you without any interaction. I have also found him laughing at me on occasion, which was truly notable when I came after Stevie Nicks to just say hello to Charlie. Honestly, no one in Claridges would ever treat me like this. I was greeted warmly by the Italian (beard and glasses) when he saw me on Friday only because I made a point in April that I did not like how I was made to feel or treated given I'm a frequent visitor of this very expensive establishment. He apologised, accepted my feedback and I left it at that. But Friday is now the third strike and I am never going back. I was treated poorly, transported from one bar to another table only after mentioning that I am a frequent customer here and I do know that there are places available for us. So why aren't you accommodating? I boldly asked as the lady named Maria (who stared at me strictly if my outfit of leggings and Hellfest t-shirt plus really smart trainers after seeing Stevie Nicks) if I was being judged? She said no...but I knew I was. When we finally had a spot on a stool, we avoided a bottle of champagne we usually purchase for cocktails. Adam served us and he was great. Attentive and tried to socialise a little. But for me, it's now too little too late. Thank you Charlie, the two Italians, the fantastic Japanese barman and the two ladies Selena and someone else whose names escapes me... I appreciated your kindness. Also, the toilets are shocking compared with Claridges with NO DISABILITY access when I asked. Appalling. Such a shame as this place could have been a fantastic substitute for me.

We were escorted straight to the bar (standing room only) initially, before being seated around 15-20 minutes later. It was a nice touch to receive a complimentary taster of a gin based cocktail to start us off with, along with a few nibbles. We had 2 rounds of cocktails, both of which were quite enjoyable with some unusual combinations on offer. Once seated it was quite comfortable and the place had a really nice vibe. Staff members were very personable as well and made time for conversation despite being quite busy. We paid £117 for a total of 4 cocktails. Writing this review from my table while waiting to pay the check. My server was rude. She charged me for a water that I didn’t order, she just brought it and poured it. The cocktail I had couldn’t handle dilution from ice due to the specific ingredients. Before I was even half way done there was clear separation between ingredients, which can happen with the use of berries. I explained this to my server and she just said “okay” and then walked away. I don’t understand how bars can have servers who don’t understand even the basics of cocktail making. To say this was a disappointment would be an understatement. I’ve been to more than twenty of the world’s 50 best bars and this place doesn’t deserve to be mentioned with any of the best bars in the world. Absolute waste of money.

Why not make this a members only club with the exception of hotel guests if you’re going to be this elitist? Be warned: if the hostess tells you 45 mins to an hour, she really means 2 hrs 45 minutes AND COUNTING. And you won’t even get a table, you’ll be asked if you’re ok to stand by the bar. They make you wait in an alcove far from the bar entrance because they don’t want you to see the loads of people they seat before you. The website says no reservations, but why then do they ask if you have a reservation? And why are they seating people right as they get there? This bar is an elitist waste of time that doesn’t have the courtesy to tell you how long you’ll actually be waiting so that you don’t waste an entire evening trying to get a table there.

Going to this bar was an experience not easily reproduced, yes — but I struggle to understand how two Connaught martinis on the menu at £28/ea plus a bottle of still water at £10 eventually equaled a total bill of £93.72 …that’s adding more than 40% to the menu prices. I get it—everyone going to this bar (I’ll include myself) can probably afford whatever they want to charge. The service was great and the martinis were good—not the very best I’ve had but certainly not disappointing. But ultimately I don’t think these martinis or the experience are worth the price, especially if they aren’t willing to be upfront about their prices.

Ranked fairly consistently one of the Top Bars in the world. Okay, VERY misleading. A friend told me so I had just had to check it while I was in London. The Connaught Hotel, while stunning and elegant from the outside, the bar is quite small and honestly, cannot see anything special about it. There were at least two bars that I could tell and the "main" bar is a bit of a wait. When I looked inside, it was easy to see why. It is incredibly small and groups of people come in and dominate the few tables/sitting areas there are. And it seems most of the people who come here are "dressed to impress". I ordered an old fashion with Blanton bourbon. My first clue should have been the servers reaction when I asked for an old fashioned with Bourbon. She gave an expression as if she had never heard this before. When I received the drink, it was in an odd egg shaped glass not in a traditional high ball glass. There were small ice cubes, not even clear ice, unlike the traditional large single clear ice cube. There was no orange slice garnish and no dark cherry garnish. I'm not convinced they used Blanton's as requested and if they did, it was one of the weakest old fashioned drinks I have ever had. My friend had a gin drink which ironically did come in a traditional high ball glass with the single large clear ice cube. For a snack, they provided green olives and some type of pretzel. Apparently they also have food items but when asked, we weren't given any type of menu or offered the ability to order food. The only thing I enjoyed was the other room where we were seated, had an open roof with a nice view when you looked up (providing it is a clear day). I have no idea why this place has this reputation for such a great bar when they cannot even make a decent drink such as an old fashioned. I have traveled all over the world and it's a mystery how this place can hold such a ranking as I know there are better places in London to get a drink. It seems more like a place where no one wants to say what they are thinking since everyone else raves about it. Don't waste your time and money. The drinks are not even "okay" and there is nothing special about the bar. It's quite elegant, but I really don't care how proper the servers are and the look of the interior if the drinks are poor.

Was very curious about their cocktails. Tried two of them and were ok. Nothing crazy amazing for the price you pay. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful place and the service was very good. They gave us some olives and snacks 🥨 when we arrived and well as a little cup with some sake apparently, which was absolutely delicious, even better than the cocktails.

We had a wonderful time at the connaught bar with some friends. We ordered the martini trolley and were really impressed by the server who helped us choose our bitters and answered our many questions. Another waitress who was not actually serving us heard that our friends were moving to New York and took time to write a list of bars she would reccomend. The atmosphere was great and I'd definitely visit again.

I had a lovely birthday cocktail at the Connaught! The staff are so friendly and welcome whether you have popped in for a drink or are staying at the hotel. We mentioned it was my birthday and they came out with a sweet little chocolate eclair for me! The complimentary welcome drink, olives and tarralli made it a great aperitif experience. Highly recommend ordering a martini so you can chat to the mixologist making it from the cart in front of you, and sitting near the bar is a great perch to enjoy the theatrics of the staff making cocktails. Well worth a visit on a special occasion

One of the best bars in the UK (Europe included), I came here to try this world's famous martini, I can choose my own bitters like I buy a perfume. But only an issue - 27 GBP for a glass of this. Bit too much and also the 🍋 peel isn't done properly. Service tho great. But it's really touristy, and extremely loud.. so if you don't like that, not the best. But worth trying!

Bucket list visit. 5th Best bar in the world and almost always in the top 10 for many years. Graceful service, artful cocktails, warm and relaxed ambience. Reasonable value too, considering the stature of this bar. The glass on the right, the No11 was amazing, the Connaught martini. Hand painted daily with edible paint. When in London, do not miss this.

Well if you do not drink alcohol then you might also go somewhere else. Soft drinks are ridiculous 5ml of sirop and water for the entire glass of crushed ice or ice cube. Call it flavoured ice. Tend to think if you don’t drink alcohol you are not welcome. And if you say something to the waiter who has better hair than manners, he just look away and doesn’t are at all. Funny experience especially when you know the amount of people from the Middle East in Mayfair

Too much hype with this cocktail bar. Honestly, I didn't like the martini despite all the paraphernalia with which they put it together. Of course, a spectacular and distinguished atmosphere in the bar of one of the best hotels in London.

This was on the must visit list of cocktail bars. We were lucky enough to get a seat without waiting and enjoyed Cocktails and the Special Martini which is prepared theatrically at your table. The atmosphere was buzzing, lively and sophisticated. The bar is not so big, so seating is limited. The prices reflect the location in one of London's prestige Hotel establishments.

The Connaught Bar in London first opened its doors in 2008 and is considered by many to be the first important hotel bar of the second Golden Age of cocktails. With the team’s trademark Italian hospitality, The Connaught Bar strikes a perfect balance between old and new with their elegant Martini cocktail trolley that offers a Martini cocktail tailored to the guest’s palate with handmade bitters.

Well, it is a London classic. Since it is located in the hotel in a very nice neighborhood that’s easy to get to, it is always full after dinner hours end. The ambiance was beautifully elegant. And the place is relatively quiet and peaceful that you can have conversation without straining your voice chord. We had a couple of classic drinks that tasted just nice Then we ventured to the Magnetum and that was delicious. There’s a reason why The Connaught is popular, so find out for yourself. Fantastic place for a date night, solos, couple and small groups. If you have a big group, it could be a challenge but they may have alternative lounge/ terrace. In any case, do make reservation.

A beautiful bar and a beautiful experience. The staff is wonderful and the drinks are uniquely delicious. I really liked the Faraway Collin’s. I also like the gin they make. But don’t get it in a gin and tonic, it is too subtle to stand up to much tonic. You can get a bottle to take home for £95. Very expensive for gin but that’s what you get at the #5 bar in the world.

I have been in this place for lunch at Helene Darroze, but I did not have time to go to the Connaught Bar, so today I decided to pay a visit and try their concoctions. I was not disappointed. The service is extremely good and the place is busy even in the early afternoon. I had a welcome complimentary drink that was a gin infused mini glass . It was delicious. I then had a variation of a Collins, really good as well, followed by their Connaught martini, prepared in front of you by a dedicated martini maker that lets you choose which of their 5 bitters you want to enhance your martini with. Also, the way it is prepared in front of you resembles a magician or an alchemist, such is the theatricality and the masterful way in which the drink is poured in front of your mesmerised eyes. Fantastic, delicious, extravagant, and an experience that needs to be described be in order to comprehend the ability and the perfection of each movement made by these masterful cocktail makers. Go for a special occasion or if you really want to treat yourself ! It’s worth it !
