This is a bar that’s actually at the back of a street side proper bar located behind a floor to ceiling bookcase you walk through and then go downstairs to get to a secret bar. Our party of two were the first to arrive that evening, we had been looking for a pre-dinner drinks. They had some very interesting drinks on the menu and their olives as an appetizer were so good. Drinks were a little on the expensive side, but they were good and the bartenders very attentive. 4 drinks and olives £63 or $83 American. Fun place.

Honestly, what a fabulous speakeasy, right in the heart of London. I don't want to give too much away, but if you find it (Greek Street), you will not be disappointed. The cocktails are amazing. The team there are edgy and brilliant, and the whole atmosphere is incredible. We will definitely be back soon.

A fun concept. The drinks are proper cocktails, my drink was not too sweet and very strong. Upstairs is a more relaxed bar and there is a 'secret' downstairs speakeasy type bar. The drinks are expensive but worth it. My only complaint is regarding the noise levels downstairs. The acoustics of the room create an incredibly loud volume which amplified everyone's conversations. In turn people start shouting to be heard. Pair this with the (good but loud) music and the constant shaking/blending of cocktails and it felt dangerously loud. My ears were completely ringing after just one drink and I would be hesitant to go back on a Friday night. My recommendation would be to set up sound insulation or soft furnishings downstairs to absorb some of the noise.

Go for the atmosphere alone, but the cocktails are top notch. Thanks for fitting us in Update 2/2025: Upstairs was drastically renovated, so it was a little confusing. Cocktails are still awesome, and the staff is really knowledgeable. They were able to recommend several cocktails based on personal tastes.

Absurdly expensive drinks, and very loud. But there's something about going through the bookshelf into the basement.

Lovely little bar with really great cocktails hidden away under a whiskey bar. It's not the easiest to find straight away, but worth the effort.

I didn’t even know this place existed. The Vault is in the basement of Millroy’s of Soho. It is behind the bookcase once you go down the stairs. It’s a whole new world. It’s atmospherically lit and the bartender was excellent. My date didn’t know what he wanted to drink so he was asked what he types of drinks he liked and they made him up something which he really liked. I had a coconut butter old fashioned and it was delicious. We went on a Monday night and it wasn’t very busy and that’s the way I like places.

Awful service. Everything was too much of an ask for the bar staff. “Can I have a cocktail?” “We have 300 cocktails” “can I have a menu” huffs and puffs like I asked for the world. Probably should be sat in an office not dealing with the public.

Went for drinks with friend - excellent vibe

We were really disappointed after looking forward to this. We were expecting something quite cool and while it was good to go through a hidden door and the drinks were nice sadly the guy who greeted, seated and served us was really quite dismissive, cold and bordering on rude so we only stayed for one. We then had to get a drink we didn't have taken off the bill. They didn't seem surprised let alone apologetic which gave me the impression this isn't abnormal. It had the potential to be so much better but there are much better places to go.

Very helpful and very educated in whiskey. Tasted some new Irish and Scotch Whiskey, sampled a bourbon I was curious about, and bought a whiskey that came recommended. Met some lovely people. A fantastic little place to sample some of the best whiskey from around the world.

It’s been a while since I came back to the very special Vault @ Milroys! They have done a gorgeous refurb - notably the bespoke whiskey bar on the ground floor. Thom who is the GM is the man to see when it comes to visit this space. He knows his stuff and is always warm and very welcoming. One of the best speakeasy bar I have been to, the staff are really knowledgable and are so friendly. The drinks are creative and delicious - not the cheapest cocktails out there (£14/15 per cocktail with service charge on top) but you won't be disappointed.

5 stars! This place is so cute, and the drinks were unique and delicious. The server took the time to answer our questions, and make recommendations. I recommend making a reservation, because the place is small and was very busy.

Great intimate venue, great cocktails and service too

Booked a reservation 6 weeks in advance, got reminder emails and texts leading up to the reservation, and then the bar was closed with no way to contact them… turn off your automated reservation reminders if you’re closed!

A hidden speakeasy bar behind a bookshelf, super creatively designed and worth a visit. Prices are not cheep, but they also have beers if you are not into cocktails. I actually took a Swiss lager which was actually one of the best lagers I have ever had so I am certain they had great cocktails too. The barman was super chill and direct taken good care of all the guests. If you always wanted to try something mysterious, this is a good start.

Extremely rude and arrogant staff! We walked in 4 people. There was no availability at the time, but we could come back 20 min later and not 25 because then the table would be given away. We where back 18 min later. Now the table was no longer available and he excused by saying that he misread his bookings. Only thing is he showed me the booking on his screen the first time, so he actually changed the booking and though I wouldn't notice.

Quiet speakeasy, behind a bookshelf at the back of a wine bar. Stinks of incense as you walk downstairs into the bar.

I am sorry to say that we had an unpleasant experience at The Vault. We arrived within 15 minutes of the time we had booked for. We just so happened to go in at the same time as another group who were just slightly ahead of us. They had no booking and they were given a table. I realise now that this was probably our table. The server, who was a nice person, told us they had no more free tables. I said we had a booking and they said that we never confirmed it. I knew I had, so I showed them that I had confirmed the booking via SMS message earlier that morning. They explained that because it wasn’t an online confirmation it wasn’t received. Apparently my message was an SMS as opposed to an iMessage so they couldn’t see it on the system. They said had they seen the message they’d have held onto the table. The server kindly offered us some free drinks upstairs but said there was nothing they could do. We travelled from far and did everything by the book except arrive 5 seconds after another group. Bit of a comedy of errors and I’m disappointed to have not got to experience what looks like a really cool venue. I hope this system error gets resolved and no one else gets turned away right behind a walk in despite doing everything by the book (I think). All the best going forward

Unbelievably rude elitist staff who refused us service despite the fact that they had space because we had the gall to ask for a whiskey cocktail (old fashioned) when they only serve whiskey neat.

Rude, careless staff. They managed to ruin my last evening in London!!! My friend booked a table for 4 on a Monday evening, for live music. We got a table by the entrance, and i've asked if was possible to change table to one on the sofa's... there it started the attitude. They say no as that was a table for 2 (the sofa had a corner and we were happy to squeeze 3 and 1 of us to sit on the chair), the waiter say that if we were moving than he couldn't have a table for 2ppl anymore (we just wanted to swap...hey more room for the 2 lucky ppl getting a bigger table) oh well... i dropped it with a "never mind". A friend of us wanted to join us as she finished work early, and as we asked the waiter he said that it was not possible as our table was a table for 4, no chairs could be added. He, and the manager didn't give a damn about finding a solution, and actually saw them looking at us and laughing. she could have even sit at the bar as there was free space (and free chairs). She tried anyway to walk in for a free sit, they rejected her, and straight after they accommodated 2 walk ins at the bar. I've never felt such attitude and indifference from a business in London. We left even before they could start playing.

Highly recommend this fantastic spot in London, especially if you're a whiskey lover. It's even better if you visit on a Monday night when they feature live Jazz music. Special thanks to Amy and Ollie for crafting delicious cocktails that made our night truly memorable. Big shout out to them for creating a wonderful experience!

Been here previously & enjoyed it. This time, experienced really inattentive service and mediocre drinks (on a weeknight when it wasn’t super busy). Server didn’t care to ask how our drinks were so I left basically a full drink on the table. Not worth going here just to have the thrill of walking through a secret entrance behind a bookcase. Plenty of other solid cocktail bars nearby.

Hung out at the vault for some jazz and drinks. 🍸🎵 The cocktails were nothing to write home about – just okay, but the vibe was so chill. The staff, though? Super friendly and welcoming! 🌟👏 Live jazz was on point, and the cozy atmosphere made it a good spot to unwind. If you're cool with so-so drinks and awesome people, this place is a win. 🎷🥂

Very rude manager. I was there with friends and I was kicked out just because they did not have 1 more chair for me although the place was not very busy. Do not go! Manager with attitude!

The staff were so helpful and friendly in recommending cocktails based on what we were feeling. The drinks suggested by the waitress on Monday night were so delicious and I wish I could go back. There was a spectacular pianist playing jazz standards in the background. Amazing place - definitely go if you're in town.

Wir sind extrem enttäuscht von der Bar. Freunde von uns waren schon einmal da, zu dem Zeitpunkt muss es deutlich besser gewesen sein. Wir sind runter gekommen und wollten ein Tisch haben, war auch erst mal kein Problem als wir dann sagten wir sogar noch eine Reservierung haben aber leider eine Person mehr sind wurde wir ungelogen vier mal drauf hingewiesen das wir anrufen sollten wenn wir einer mehr sind, was etwas komisch war weil sie uns vorher ohne Reservierung einen Tisch geben wollte und der Laden nicht komplett voll war. Dann bekamen wir Getränke die so naja waren. Der old Fashion war ungenießbar. Als wir den Barkeeper drauf hinwiesen war nur seine serviceorientierte frage ob man schon mal einen getrunken hat. “Sie würden nie Beschweren bekommen” ohne mal zu probieren ob er es wirklich schlecht war. Außerdem haben wir uns ganz normal unterhalten er hat uns drauf hingewiesen das wir leiser sein sollten und auch andere… Sorry die Bar denkt sie wären wirklich was sind es aber leider nicht. Ein Grund nie wieder hinzugehen. Tipp an den Besitzer vielleicht mal sein Personal in Kundenfreundlichkeit zu schulen!

A hidden entrance, dimly lit stairwell & cocktails by candlelight…The Vault has the trappings of a speak easy and lives up to all the hype. My favorite? Paracetamol Royale

We had the most ridiculous, unfriendly customer experience when we went a few months ago. I reserved a table for 2 and we were given a corner table in which we sat in the corner bit side-by-side with a chair opposite it. We heard a friend of ours from Canada was nearby so we invited him to join us. and could never have imagined what a dramatic issue this would turn it. Imagine our surprise when the 2 children that were running this place (both barely looked past 18) with zero common sense or any idea of what customer service is told us that our friend could not sit in the chair at our table because we had only reserved for 2 people (???) and this would be a fire hazard! Never mind that the bar was more than half empty. We asked if we could just have one drink and then leave because we had already ordered one for ourselves and they said no. So either we told our friend to leave or we all went. I have never in my life heard such stupid reasons for declining access to someone and turning down business. Common sense did not prevail. But we did have one drink before all of this and it was the worst bourbon sour I have ever had in the tiniest glass. Waste of time

This was a really cool, speakeasy/bar. They have a huge barrel in the back for medium sized groups. I won't point out any drinks in particular, but every one we tried from the menu was very good and fairly unique. The staff here is excellent, very accommodating, very friendly. Even offered suggestions for other bars to try in the area. Definitely recommend visiting here.

Awful experience - this was booked on Monday 1 May for a surprise birthday celebration and on arriving the place was locked and bolted. A queue started to form of other people (including another birthday party) who had also booked only to be told by a very surly man they 'don't take bookings on a Sunday' - when he was corrected that it was in fact Monday he got even more annoyed, telling us it also counted for banks hols. This beside the fact we'd received a reminder text asking us to confirm and then another just before arriving saying our booking was ready. So the birthday treat was ruined and we left as more people arrived to remonstrate. You'd think they'd have the foresight to know 1 May is a bank hols and a) not take bookings but also b) not keep confirming the bookings when the place was locked up and closed!

Wanted to like this place. We had it on our itinerary to check out for our trip. The establishment itself is stunning! Very cool place. The service is absolutely horrific. Bartenders were very pushy, rude and cocky. Made us so uncomfortable we ordered drinks because they rushed us into ordering and then we left without finishing them. Won’t be going back but it was cool to see. Update* now that I’ve had time to think about that experience. Im a little concerned at how pushy the bartenders actually were. Two females by themselves sit at the bar, asks for menu for drinks. My friend orders her drink but I’m not feeling great so I ask if it’s okay if I just get some tea or coffee while my friend drinks. He told me no and told me and that I had to order a drink. He sat there staring at me making me feel really uncomfortable as if we would kick me out if I didn’t drink. So I told him I needed a minute to look over the menu and I would let him know. He gave me about 30 seconds and sent over another bartender to hover over me. He stared at me and I looked up and told him I needed more time to look it over. He snapped at me and said “SO your not drinking?” I looked at my friend and then him and said “I will, I would just like more tjme” he refused to leave, so I told him to just grab me a beer. We sat there really weirded out by the experience as they watched to make sure we were drinking our drinks. I didn’t take one sip out of it, while my friend drank her drink she didn’t finish it. About half way through she started feeling really strange. She said she felt sick but dizzy at the same time. Hind sight, we both had a bad feeling and left because of it. She was sick the whole next day. Not sure what happened here but I felt like I should tell every detail just in case anyone else had the same experience.

You had me at Speakeasy! This underground bar is tucked away behind a bookshelf. It’s quaint yet lively. The vault offers a variety of signature drinks along with all of the classics. The staff is attentive snd friendly. Enjoyed drinks and snacks.

What an awesome place! For me the entrance and ambiance is nice, but what really makes the difference is the drinks. This place has some fantastic cocktails. Reservations are nice to have but I was by myself and they sat me at the bar after a short wait. Desi at the bar was amazing. He made me some fantastic cocktails custom made! Couldn’t recommend this place more.

Is a fun concept, probably don’t need the insense blazing the smell is strong when you get down to the bar, go for one drink no more, we spent £130 in an hour and a half was reminded about 5 times that our slot is nearly over so get the hell out basically.

Went there yesterday with two friends. The waiter was clearly unprepared. My friend that works with sustainability in a friendly way made a comment about the amount of napkins that the waiter would bring every time we would order a drink, like it wasn’t necessary due to environmental reasons. And the waiter kind of said “wherever”, and that he is payed to do that and so on, but in a rude way. Then at the end he didn’t know how to use the card machine in order to charge us separately, so we could pay for what each one of us consumed. The waiter wanted us to split equally which wouldn’t be fair in that case. So in the end one of us had to pay the whole bill and we transfer the money afterwards. It was just an overall feeling that they pretty much didn’t care about us as costumers. We got there earlier and asked for a table for three that was available in another place and they didn’t want to give us that table, which was similar to the one that we had in the end. Apart from the bookshelf entrance there is nothing special about the bar, so I didn’t get all that attitude.

Went to The Vault Soho a few weeks ago with a friend. We were sitting by the bar downstairs in the speakeasy area. A particular bartender kept ease-dropping into our conversation, was extremely rude to my friend, and even threated to fight him outside. Never going back there again. We did complain to the manager upstairs by the way. Not sure if anything was done.

A cosy speakeasy bar with very friendly and accommodating staff. They can get quite busy but they do take walk-ins if there’s space, I recommend booking before hand because this is an experience you don’t want to miss!

Very fun entrance and lovely vibe. Live music is really fabulous. Drinks I’ve found variable - some of the best I’ve had but last visit they seemed a bit off.

The waiter at this bar was full of racism, and after sitting for 15 minutes, we were asked to leave before the first drink was finished. Bad service will never visit again

We walked out before we ordered drinks. Rude aggressive waiter, followed by an aggressive manager response. Also very hot basement environment without aircon and strong air freshener to hide smell of damp. I wouldn’t recommend and will not return.

Cool, intimate atmosphere. The way down to the bar is a bit creepy in a fun way. The staff is very attentive. Would be nice if they had more vegan cocktails, between ingredients and choice of liqueour, I could only be sure of one being so.

A great little speakeasy. Managed to get a seat at the bar for 2 people at 7pm on a Saturday evening. Nice chilled atmosphere and great service. Would highly recommend for a quiet drink.
