Awful service, dirty dishes, trays and tables.

I hate to write a bad review but my experience today was the worst service I have experienced in central London. I popped in to grab a sandwich. I came here on purpose instead of Pret to try to support another business. After picking it up I waited for nearly 10 mins at the counters (with the staff cooking staring at me) to pay before someone came over. In that time at least three sets of people came and left as there wasn't anyone. Eventually someone came and I was asked if I wanted it toasted. I said yes and asked how long, waitress said two minutes. However even though I would have been happy to wait longer, she proceeded to serve two more sets of people before putting my sandwich in the toaster. After about 7 mins I had to jump back in the queue (a kind person let me in front) to ask where my sandwich was. The person I asked left to get drinks for the table service and told another member of staff to check for me. I then had to explain the situation again. 1. Why isn't there a designated member of staff at the takeaway counter at busy lunchtimes to cover food and takeaway coffees? Staff were flitting in between takeaway and table service and drinks, there was so much confusion. I think allocation of staff might have been the biggest issue. 2. Should there be an order system for hot takeaways? 3. Communication - tell me if there is a delay! 4. Friendly staff - it goes a long way, I couldn't help feeling like I was an inconvenience to the staff. I am usually happy to pay for an overpriced sandwich in Central London, however the hassle was just not worth it today.

Weird service and crowded front area. Homemade donut and custard tart was very sweet and delicious.

English breakfast top! Fast service, clean environment. Quick to reach by metro

Good food and delicious pastries.

The Viennoiseries for breakfast or as snacks are well worth their premium price, but the sandwiches in my opinion aren’t (although I might be biased, as I don’t usually like baguette and pain carré, though theirs is caraway “squared bread”: even toasting them open, they don’t taste so special to justify a higher price, I think). The Viennoiseries pastries are supreme anyways, even if they’re slightly too buttery in flavour in my personal taste: the best for my subjective preference were the Almond Pain au Chocolat and the Almond Danish, filled with chocolate and almond cream, large and both topped with a generous layer of toasted almonds. Their taste was worth the extra calories for me!

The breakfasts are very good and prepared with fresh fruit. Excellent porridge, very good cappuccino and coffee. Modern venue and standard service. Perhaps the prices are a little high given that a breakfast is around 25 pounds.

Service was slow and surly. They weren’t even busy. Even if the food were knockout - which it is not - the whole experience was such a downer I won’t be back.

Super food, varied menu, kind helpful staff. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a quick drink and snack ate all great choices!

Took approximately 30 minutes before we were greeted by waitstaff. By the time our orders arrived the food was cold. We were 3 couples and requested separate tickets; however the server didn’t seem to understand how to do so. Maybe they were having an off day.

A very nice café for a quick breakfast (you have self-service at the entrance and you can take away or eat on site) or sit in the restaurant area for a typical breakfast, sandwiches... Food is good, prices are a bit expensive, service is a bit slow. If the drinks are very (too) sweet, the pastries are rather balanced :)

After being seated and while placing an order, we were asked to place order for at least 100 gbp for 5 of us. We found it quite unreasonable for a causal restaurant like this, especially when it wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu or outside display. We had kids also with us in our group and we’re looking for a light meal. Found it quite rude and unwarranted. Had to leave without eating.

Fast service, good selection of food and bakery items. The front table with all the pastries is very inviting but they also have a full kitchen menu with a pizza oven.

Would never go back. Food not good and overpriced.

Lovely coffee but staff weren't so friendly which is a real shame. We asked a simple question about whether we bring the croissant we selected to the table or they bring it with the coffee. We got a non descript comment which left us still confused & an eye roll

A nice place for breakfast. Friendly staff and food was great. Close to Buckingham Palace and various hotels. I bit pricey, but that's London.

Unhygienic and unclean toilets.

I highly recommend it! The food is delicious, the service is very good, the waiters know the menu well and recommended the drinks and dessert, they got it right!!! When we arrived, they asked us to wait until they prepared the table, it's not a place where you arrive and sit down. It didn't take more than 3 minutes for them to ask us to sit down, the place is nice and has a good atmosphere. A family place and you can see that it is very popular. An excellent place for those who want to eat well and have a good moment of rest before the next walk around the city. In London, close to Buckingham Palace, it's really worth it!

I have never seen such a bad service and employee anywhere else. When the table was wiped clean, there were still dirty traces of the glasses. We waited 15 minutes to order and the waiters tried hard not to make eye contact. The waiters are dirty, the toilets are dirty, the tables are dirty. We could only sit down long enough to drink coffee. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Stopped in for a quick spot of tea. The place is busy at lunchtime on Saturday. It’s still clean and the wait staff is efficient. Would come back for lunch another time. The food certainly looks good. Prices are reasonable considering it’s 2 blocks from Buckingham Palace. The prices are actually very reasonable. Overall it’s a great place. Very modern with some nice works of art on the wall. Some are good, some are…questionable? 😀

The food was fine, but the service was extremely disorganized. They came to the table 3 times, looked at what we ordered, got the sandwich right away, and the orange juice and smoothie 15 minutes later.

Amazing bakery, it was the best granola bar I’ve ever had (and healthy too)!

Cakes all look amazing. We tried 6 different cakes but most were dry and inedible sadly.

Attempted to order coffee and pastry at cash register and told to go away and sit despite friend being able to order a coffee. Sat for 30 minutes without service while staff stood around and talked. Would recommend avoiding this place.

—- updated —— At checkout, the staff at the counter asked about the satisfaction with our meal. I replied that everything was fine except for the coffee. After expressing apologies, they immediately removed the charge for that cup of coffee. Therefore, I am sharing this experience to provide an objective perspective and to adjust my review of the establishment. —— the original statement —- When the server was bringing the coffee, she accidentally spilled it. Her immediate reaction was to put a napkin between the plate and the cup. I asked if it was possible to get a new cup of coffee, but for the second cup, only the plate was replaced, and it was still the same coffee from before, only two-thirds of the original amount. After bringing this up with the establishment, their solution was simply to dilute it with water. This kind of service was just astonishing.

Very good place to take a break while visiting the city

Pastries were delicious. Especially the brownie. However, coffee & service weren't really good.

The worst service I’ve had for a while. They grab the glasses from the inside, stick your doughnut into their sweaters, and bring wrong orders. Also, it is not a brownie but a thick dry cookie. The place is pretty good looking but don’t get fooled by that.

Good service and a good location stop to get some pastries at this location before our visit to the Buckingham Palace. The coffee and the Velvet cake were to die for. I will come to eat here on my next visit to London.

Slow, disinterested staff and food took a very very long time to come out despite not being busy. 40min wait for sandwiches then they brought out the wrong order. Wasted time, left without lunch and only the service fee they tried to sneak in was waived, but the coffees. Bad service.

Stopped for breakfast with the family. All I can say is that everything we had was poor including the French toast and the poached eggs on toast. We waited for 35 minutes for a coffee after asking twice for it. The staff seem to be run off their feet, so obviously not enough staff on. We tried to pay in cash and we were told that they didn't have change and expected us to walk out without change. One of the waiters actually had to get his wallet out to give us change. Will definitely not be back when we are visiting London.

Great tasting food that was enjoyed by all. Very interesting choices to be had on the menu. Very colourful atmosphere with a very polite and patient attitude. Service was quick and very well presented. The only letdown I have is with disgusting toilets, both male and female toilets are poorly maintained and some big change in this are is very much needed I have to say.

20 minutes d’attente pour un chocolat chaud et un jus d’orange, si vous êtes pressés n’y allez pas.

Petit déjeuner en famille. Nous avons commandé deux breakfast complets, un eggs royale et un cookie ainsi que des boissons (jus d'orange, chocolat chaud,café) Le service était long, les plats étaient bons, un peu froids. Le cadre est spacieux. Rien de particulier, si vous voulez prendre un petit déjeuner sans vous presser, allez-y.

Food is delicious and the service it’s fantastic

Fresh lemon ginger tea was nice, but the coffee mug they bought was dirty. Had a red velvet cookie, was a little dry, there was also a hair on the plate it was served on. Partner had the berry danish which was nice. Served added an extra £2 onto the tab without asking (tip is also already included)

Went there for breakfast with friends. The waiter just left the cutlery all together. ;/ . "English breakfast" by the look, not appealing. The crust of the bread ( instead of a bun) for the "Egg Royale", stonewall like. I guess was the same for the "Egg Benedict" because the friend had the same type of bread and struggling to cut it. However the orange juice was very good. Either follow the recipe or else change the cutlery.

Das Essen war lecker. Leider sitzt man sehr eng zu seinem Nachbartisch. Die Toiletten waren sehr dreckig. Außerdem ist es nicht gerade günstig.

Une belle découverte à deux pas de notre hôtel dans la quartier Westminster de Londres. Le café est délicieux et les croissants parmi les meilleurs que nous ayons mangé. Le personnel est vraiment gentil et l’ambiance très intéressante. Un choix de viennoiseries à tous les matins.

Food wasn’t very hot very over priced for the food that was served

Delicious sandwich, I also ordered a Cappuccino and ask them to put on the top chocolate and cinnamon, it was perfect!! Every staff was very kind and polite. Was my first time there but I’ll return to try other options, one more thing, I recommend a cinnamon swirl, it is belíssimo!

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE First of all, we got in just because we wanted to use the restroom but the toilet was a disaster. Very dirty I'd say... The pastry was fine but the coffee was super bad. There were little bugs flying around and water dripping from the ceiling. Also, every item had a service charge added into the price if you dine in. But you also have to pay for another 12.5% service charge in total. The staff was friendly but the instructions for order and check were not quite clear...

Good place for a quick bite if you have business or errands to run in the area

Nice, modern, coffee shop/restaurant, ideal location for tourists, great cakes and pastries, overpriced mediocre coffee and tea, overpriced but good salads/sandwiches. The waiters seem to be a bunch of inexperienced and unsupervised students, focused on trying to avoid any interaction with customers.

Love the pastries! The rest of the menu is not amazing but the pastries are definitely worth it. A bit pricey

The most amazing, fresh baked goods. Hot and tasty coffee, expresso, cappuccino. Comfortable outdoor seating is also available. Truly enjoyed. On the hop on hop on off route.

We spent a significant amount of time swatting away at several tiny fruit flies while trying to converse and later to eat. There was a good swarm of them enjoying themselves on the huge pastry display near the entrance. I assume that this place is busy during the day and we were there around dinnertime - but that's no excuse. Food was fine, staff were courteous and reasonably attentive.

I visited yesterday. The place was infested with flies. I had to keep waving away flies and ended up with food poisoning. I’ve been vomiting since shortly after eating at this restaurant and they even charged me full price. Now I’m gonna be losing few days pay from work due to dodgey food I think some of the flies died inside the drink. I need my full refund. I ordered the salmon sushi and mango drink and my bill came up to 16pounds. Beware before visiting as they have a current leak problem. This place should be closed pending the works as it’s not safe.

Probably the worst service we had. Incredibly rude staff, tables left cluttered with dirty dishes and it takes ages to be seated or just order take away. In saying the the food was delicious, Probably the only reason this shop is still running.

It's a quite place, with a good selection of food, we only chose tea and pastries, ,for us big minus- toilet, very dirty and not tidy.

We had just been on a tour of Buckingham Palace so we’re desperate to find somewhere for lunch. We were actually pleasantly surprised by this place. They had a huge menu which easily satisfied our range of needs - my mum had French toast, I had one of their sandwiches which was very tasty and my sister, who is vegan, also had plenty to choose from, going for the falafel wrap. We all really enjoyed our food - plenty of flavour. We also didn’t think the prices were that bad considering you are just a short walk from such a tourist attraction. Yes, the service charge being added on was a bit much and really, we could’ve have opted not to pay it (10% would’ve been more than fair) but it is what it is. Yes, the toilets I would only give a 6/10 (being generous) but they were there and useful to have before our next tube journey.

The coffee wasn’t very good, the plates and cups were dirty, there were coffee grains in my coffee. To top it all off, they charge you for the service which wasn’t even quick.

We took away pastries and cakes several times. Quite good quality, not exceptional.

The coffee was so strong … the staff was so confused they didn’t know what they were doing. One of the staff was sp rude with my sister.

Stopped here as the pastries and cakes looked amazing in the window. Had 3 soft drinks and pastries which were lovely but over priced nearly £31 . This also included a service charge for what service I'm not sure. What I found upsetting was not the lack of staffs interest when they realised we wouldn't be eating a meal, had to ask 3 times to order the drinks, it was the state of the toilets, I know you can never tell how the person before you left them but this was so much more than that, The signs up telling you a huge list of do not do was laughable, do not use too much toilet paper??? but it was "ladies do not flush anything down toilet except toilet paper use bin provided" that made me write this review. I totally agree sanitary items should go into bins provided but those bins need to be emptied so ladies can use them. These were overflowing and ladies had no choice but to leave them on the floor near the bin, nice sight for any men using let along another lady(unisex toilets) You were also lucky to find toilet roll to use amongst all the empty tubes all over the place. The place stank, the sink was disgusting. When I walked in a gent already in there said I wouldn't bother unless desperate, I didn't. What also made me laugh was a sign outside saying toilets are for customers only. When I told a member of staff he just shrugged his shoulders and said I know someone else complained earlier. I wish I had seen the toilets before we ordered as it makes you think what the cleanliness is like behind the scenes.

Truly awful! Server (cannot call him a waiter) neither spoke nor understood English. When our missing meals arrived, they were half portions. Drinks arrived after we had finished eating - amazing considering how long it took to get our food. The toast was totally inedible - more like fibreboard than any bread I have ever had; the rest bland & cold, no seasoning whatsoever and none brought when requested. The bill was considerably more than the amount displayed on the till and a 12.5% service charge was included though this wasn't stated anywhere. The lack of spoken English paid dividends for the waiter here because when I challenged the bill our server merely shrugged and walked away! Horrible experience all round. Would not recommend.

Attitude of the staff was bad. People are not ignorant about food stuffs and keep that in mind before bluffing out !!!

Restaurant was empty and we waited 20 minutes for 2 eggs to be fried. Waiting staff does not say much and are not super friendly. You have better options close by.

El lugar buen ambiente, la merienda estuvo bien. Lo que debería mejorara es la mala higiene del baño, no solo eso sino q tambien cobran por consumir sentados, la atención muy lenta. The place has a good atmosphere, the snack was good. What should improve is the poor hygiene in the bathroom, not only that but they also charge for eating while sitting down, attention very slow.

Cozy corner spot with delectable desserts and tarts, accompanied by swift and courteous service. It offers affordability compared to neighboring cafes. I savored a delightful scone during my visit.

This place is not good. I felt it in my spirit. They have pictures hanging on the wall that represent Hell. The pictures you see the knashing of the teeth and demons. There are sayings on the wall that are boldly anti Christian. My spiritual God fearing, Jesus following people, do not eat here. Do not enter into this space. I pray the people working there can see and feel this.

Attended an independence celebration at The Chapel. Needed lunch and chose this place. Waited half an hour for a black lukewarm coffee. We ordered 3 pizza and asked for more Parmesan, the staff seemed unable to understand what we wanted and then informed us that we be charged extra for a few teaspoons of Parmesan. My pizza has a ton of salt in it. One waiter kept rolling his eyes when he dealt with us. No one seemed interested in our experience, whether all was to our liking. They simply did not ask. Absolute royal shambles. The toilets are a joke- supposedly unisex, but no sanitary receptacles and one male cubicle sandwiched between two cubicles with ‘ladies’ silhouettes on the door. Has to be seen to be believed. The only things ‘royal’ about this place are the b&w photo of Audrey Hepburn and the location. Avoid, even if you are desperate, parched and starving.

Don’t usually leave reviews but it’s an absolute scam. Listed £3.5 for a plain scone but charged a total of £5.90 for the butter and jam that came with it. Scone was cold and average. Staff looked bored and inattentive to customers.

Disappointing. I work in the area, so popped in for a sandwich as the place looked decent. Sadly, I knew from the moment I picked the sandwich up that it was going to rubbish, as it weighed nothing. The ciabatta squashed down into a void, rather than the firm feeling you get from a decent sandwich with a proper filling. This was wafer thin slices of breaded chicken, with a few wisps of cheap lettuce. No tomato or crunchy salad, not really any chicken. Guess it's aimed for tourists, rather than the thousands of soldiers and office workers in the buildings opposite - missed opportunity really as if they made proper sandwiches, I'm sure they'd make a killing. The hot food the seated guests were eating looked marginally better, but £18 for a small portion of fish and chips - I can get that for £5 at lunch at my local fish and chip shop for lunch. Can't really recommend when there are many more places to try nearby.

The server was having issues regarding what was available. Kept going back and forth to find out. Food was good.
