Disappointing….our first visit here and probably our last. Booking was simple, the staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant is decorated nicely, very clean and roomy. The service was quick, we were seated straight away and tended to immediately which was great. We had chicken wings and calamari to start. The chicken wings had little flavour and the calamari was awful, heavily battered with no flavour. Thinking back it was more like onion rings than calamari. The complimentary bread and dips were excellent, warm and light, and really tasty. We had a mixed grill and a chicken kebab. The meat was cooked well but was lacking in flavour and spices which we would expect from a Turkish restaurant. We felt disappointed having read some good reviews. We can’t argue with the service, it’s just the food that we didn’t find great. It was edible, clean and filling, just lacking in flavour. The calamari was dreadful though….

Stayed at this hotel as attending a wedding which was 5 minutes walk away. Had food at the restaurant which was lovely. That’s all I can say that was good about our stay. We had a dusty, small room with cobwebs and carpet that needed hoovered. No bin; had to ask for one. Quilt had a plastic covering on it which meant the quilt cover slipped away from it. Not enough toilet paper supplied for our stay. 4 teabags provided for 2 of us for 2 nights, but 2 of the teabags weren’t covered (obviously taken from a bigger box), so probably covered in dust as well. No milk provided, kettle lid didn’t shut properly (which could cause a scald), and also didn’t switch itself off! No hairdryer in room despite saying there would be one. No WiFi in the room but it is available in the pub. Interference on the TV so crackly picture on some channels. Noise from extremely busy road directly outside was dreadful so was unable to open the window because of it, which made the room ridiculously hot. No instructions on what to do with the key as we checked out as the check in area in the pub we arrived at was closed until 12 midday.

One night to visit family who live nearby. Family came to eat with us in the restaurant and food and service there was very good. However in spite of receiving confirmation before hand that the Blue Light Card was accepted for front line workers discount, when it came to pay the waitress was unable to figure it out at the till. Room No 1 was 25°c and air conditioning not working. Could not open the window but even if that were possible the noise from passing traffic all night through the thin timber walls was unbelievable and we barely slept a wink from the uncomfortable heat and noise in that pokey little rabbit hutch, and that's without the herd of elephants coming from the room above. Basha was as helpful as anyone could be and we thank her for her help and understanding.

Fantastic Turkish restaurant, if you’ve been to Turkey and experienced the great Turkish food then this is a for you, genuine Turkish staff with plenty to tempt you on the menu, we went as a party of six and ordered a mix of starters to share which was more than enough as you also get a complimentary ballon bread each and a couple of meze dips, the main courses where lovely and the was of really good quality the drinks were really well priced been part of pub, we were served by by a lovely young Turkish waitress who was really polite and made sure we got we got exactly what we ordered . In terms of value for the six of us with a couple of drinks each, starters and mains was £170 so represented good value for the quality of the dishes we had, the restaurant and the pub is really well kept with good parking and outdoor seating an park. If your missing your Turkish holiday or want to warm up before you go this place won’t disappoint A1 from all of us.

This is now a Turkish restaurant. Lez-et at The Comus Inn, Camblesforth about 20mins from Thorne. The bar was packed when we arrived but we managed to get a drink then we were shown through to the dining room which is a new extension. The owner told us they had been there a year at the end of this month. Only 2 couples in when we were seated so we could choose our table. Lots to choose on the menu - see photos. We opted for the sharing platter of lamb shish, chicken shish, lamb chops, chicken legs and wings, lamb kofta, flat breads, chips, Bulgar rice, fresh salad, tsatsiki and a dip that I didn't try as hubby said it was hot, hot, hot!!! All served on a long wooden platter. Everything was piping hot and plenty of it!!! Lovely fresh salad and lemon. The meat was succulent and tasty. The flat bread wasn't heavy or stodgy - just right. By the time we left the room was full. Lots of large parties. Great music too. The owner came over at the end and seemed truly humbled that we enjoyed every morsel. He thanked us for coming and we assured him we will be back. The platter was £59.95 for 2 people. All sides included. Highly recommend this Turkish and it saves going into Doncaster.

We were really looking forward to trying this place, love Turkish food, so went on the 23rd Jan for my birthday. Unfortunately it's not a very Turkish menu, it's trying to be all things to all men, a mish mash of cuisine. A long wait to be served despite only another 4 people in, there was only one staff member who didn't come off his phone the entire time we were there, and it was that cold inside I had to sit with my coat on. Emmerdale, Martin Lewis and then Coronation Street blaring out on the TV isn't my idea of a relaxing meal out. The starters were nice, garlic sausage and stuffed vine leaves, but the mains, lamb kebab and a lamb pide were mediocre. Perhaps we visited on an off night given some of the good reviews here, but given the prices which are not cheap we expected better quality and disappointingly probably wont return which is a shame as its on our doorstep.

First and foremost the food is so good. A table of 10 and not one complaint about quality. Service is also really good, free bread with starters can't complain on that front. The major downside and why I unfortunately won't be revisiting is the prices have gone through the roof. For example the lamb shank used to be £18.95 and now is £26.95. a massive increase in a short space of time. Obviously a price increase is to be expected everywhere at the moment however this is abit much. We were unfortunately the only ones in on a Saturday evening aswell. Maybe just because it's January or maybe because it's got too expensive too quickly. We only live round the corner and if the prices came down we would be regulars.

We visited on Xmas eve lunch time, we wanted something different and not a roast the day before Xmas! We were not disappointed, we got garlic mushrooms and garlic flatbread with dips for a starter which was all lovely. Our main courses were really good too and plentiful, the meat was really tender and it was all hot. The restaurant area is really nice and even though there wasn’t many people dining it still had a nice atmosphere. Prices were quite expensive but it was worth it. We will definitely return.

We visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon and there was only one other table of people. It was very quiet. Odd. There was zero atmosphere, and the news was on, before being followed by bargain hunt. Music would have been nice. I ordered a Pinot, but there was none. Instead I had a gin and lemonade, which came with what looked like cork in the glass. My “chicken breast” burger looked and felt like a reconstituted, frozen breast, and I had to remove a few gristle pieces from my mouth. It wasn’t nice. My husbands lamb dish was nice, and the portion size was good. The fresh bread was lovely. Overall, a real mixed opinion. Not for us.

Went this evening with family. The food was lovely, the best part was the starters with Calamari, Sigara Borek and Falafel with humus, all served with complimentary flat bread and dips. The main courses were all lovely and the drinks especially the beer were great fully received. The setting and room are 5 star and the staff were really good and welcoming. The reason I didn’t give the review overall 5 stars was that from the minute we entered the restaurant we felt rushed. The starters were there as soon as we had ordered and although we asked for five minutes break the main courses arrived straight away. It just marred the night a-bit as the restaurant was so sumptuous and we wanted experience a lovely relaxed evening so this just took the edge off. However we will be back and hopefully it won’t be quite as rushed next time and we enjoy the lovely food on offer.

We booked after a marketing note came through the day to support a new restaurant in the village, clearly it’s new and still having a few issues, however overall it was very good. The two people running around serving around 24 covers, the starters came out fast, calamari, chicken wings and Turkish flap bread with dips, over all nice, hot and fresh. Mains were just as good, mixed grill, ribs and moussaka, my only negative comment was the moussaka was very "watery". We will review in a few weeks to support and try again

We stayed at the Comus Inn after our friends wedding at Camblesforth Hall up the road. Other people that had also attended the wedding were staying there too but we didn’t know them. We shortly found out that our key had been given to one of them and went missing so we didn’t have a key to get into our room. However, we found out that every key worked for most of the rooms, which we were really not happy with especially with the rooms being right on the main road. Also, when we arrived back to the room in the early hours of the morning, there were 2 lads trying lots of the doors with gloves and hats on which was very scary. The room itself wasn’t very well kept and needed a good lick of paint. Needless to say we got out of there first thing in the morning! It was a shame as we had enjoyed the wedding but it put a dampener on the day.

Over priced. Re-formed calamari starter was very poor for £7:50. The mix grill meat was very nice but certainly didn't warrant £22:50. My husband and I went here last evening for a meal, our first ever visit, needless to say, our last. I ordered the lasagna after seeing a photo of it on their website. It was more like a cheesy pasta bake, an inch thick top of cheese, and underneath pasta layers with tomato and more cheese, where was the meat, I didn’t order the vegetarian option. There was a side salad with it that had seen better days, and five chips. I ate most of the salad and the chips as the ‘lasagna ‘ was not up to standard.

This place is a complete dive, if you're not from the area then you are completely unwelcome. Visited with my family for a meal whilst in selby on business and can honestly say it's one of the worst meals I've ever attempted to eat. The hygiene of the establishment is horrendous and the staff seemed more interested in chatting to men than welcoming their customers and making them feel comfortable. Overall, disgusting and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody.

Visited th Comus, under new management and ordered two meat pies with suet crust one pork chop. When the pies arrived the pastry was not suet crust but short crust that was so thin and overlcooked we couldn't eat it, the pork chop was burnt. The staff did not appear during our meal, and when we told them about the food, they said oh sorry. We will not be going back, maybe they were having a bad day but food and customer service was appalling last night.

Pre-booked a group lunch for 14 people. Everyone enthused about the generous portion sizes, the food quality, very reasonable prices and the cheerfulness of the very attentive staff. I recommend that you go out of your way to visit this lovely pub.

Stopped for a snack on a Sunday however the bar menu wasn't on and it was Sunday lunch only. But disappointing but not a huge deal. Good choice of meats and very good value. I had a small beef at £5.95 and they ranged up to a large at about £8.Cosy pub, fire lit and friendly staff. The meals came out within 5 minutes of ordering so obviously all pre prepared but still tasted fresh. The dinner itself was average. It was all kind of piled on the plate. I had beef with mash potato carrots and sprouts all on the plate. The gravy had been poured on already as well so it was just a bit much all squashed on top of each other on a small plate. The food was ok but could have been better. The waitress and bar staff were very good so can't complain at them at all. Had a quick look at the normal menu which did look nice so would probably call back

We visited the Comus Inn for lunch.Between the car park and the front door it was apparent that the area had not been swept recently. The paper tablecloths were marked and a water glass on our table had a spider in it.At that point we should have walked out but gave the food a chance to redeem the experience, but there was nothing special about that.We will not be returning.

Managed a late booking for Sunday lunch on mothers day. A very warm welcome on arrival from the staff and cosy fires. The traditional home cooked lunch was delicious and cleverly served in small medium or large portions. A medium was plenty for two ladies. Husband chose the Mega serving which included beef, ham, turkey and gammon with all the trimmings ! All Excellent value for money . The staff are friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is homely too. A nice variation of rooms for eating, drinking and relaxing. Can highly recommend. We will definitely return.

Not a good first impression as its a bit tatty when you get out of the car in the car park but a big wow when you go in and see the roaring open fire. Pub is nice enough, tap room, lounge and the restaurant in the nice warm conservatory.Food is only Ok. Not enough veg, meat is the boil in a bag or bought in ready sliced and the Yorkshire puddings were missed off the plates but overall it tasted delicious and the service was good.

This is a traditional pub serving well cooked pub food with the emphasis on quality. A limited imaginative menu which enables the Chef to concentrate on speed and value. Highly recommended.

We went on a Thursday night a couple of weeks ago, 5 of us. 2 had steak and the portions were huge. I had a lasagne and found this to be a little small but the rest of the food it came with there was plenty. The lasagne tasted really nice as well and I would not be put off having it again. We had dessert which were really cheap and good sizes. We have all said we would definitely go back and try it again. All the staff were friendly as well.

We took a bit of a detour from our journey South to visit The Hidden Tearoom, and what a great choice it was! So many delicious homemade goodies and a very warm welcome from Edi. The Scone-wiches (cheese scone with bacon, onion marmalade, cream cheese and salad) were fabulous and there were too many lovely cakes and puddings to choose from. Highly recommended.

A regular stop off whenever we’re in Selby. The food is fantastic whether it’s a quick snack, full on Sunday lunch or special occasion. Mat, Gemma, Di, Chaba & all the staff are polite, respectful and… efficient. An enjoyable experience. Can’t recommend highly enough.

We have eaten here with friends 4 times over the last 2 years, but it has never really impressed us. The food is OK, but not really worth the cost. The chips were hard and dry, which I don't understand as they are supposed to be home made! Also, the drinks have always been expensive, but £4.55 for 1 pint and one half pint of lime and soda is ridiculous. The most we have ever paid in the past is £3, but often less than that!!
