Coin in Calderdale

Another brilliant use of an old bank, an Italian eatery with all the charm of Italy. Lightly furnished with solid wood tables and a high ceiling. Attenuative but not troublesome staff served an array of delicate and well presented plates of food, plenty for 4 to share. 5* Review.

We really enjoyed another visit to Coin last week. The staff are always attentive without being intrusive, the drink selection outstanding and the small plates exquisite. It may not be cheap, but for a treat night out, there's nowhere like it in the area. We will be back again, and again!

10/10 service! The staff are so so lovely, top up your drinks, can not fault the staff at all. Food was also 10/10. Everything we ordered (and was more than half the menu) did not disappoint. First time trying oysters and they were lovely also. Can’t recommend enough x

As a wine bar, or just a bar, this place is brilliant. Interesting selection of wines, lovely venue, great staff and a small but excellent choice of beers. I would not recommend it for a meal but it offers some interesting and unusual small plates. We had some issues with the food which the owner handled brilliantly and we’d definitely go back for a drink and some charcuterie

Oh my goodness this place is so, so lovely. Scrumptious food, delicious wine, & a lovely, sparkly vibe. Hugely grateful to Coin for fitting us in on Hogmanay, despite me booking for 31 Jan because I'm a complete eejit. And thanks to all the lovely staff for being exactly the right sort of friendly. Keeping our mistaken end of Jan booking & looking forward to it already...

Really disppointed with the menu which was only meat or cheese platters and some starters. Virtually no hot food!

A regular haunt of ours and our favourite Hebden bar/restaurant. Great drinks and fantastic food that is a little different from your standard place.

Amazing high end bistro type place in Hebden. A wonderful buzz & ambience from the second you walked in. Great interior design. Service absolutely on point. We had the fondue which was to die for but we just couldn’t get anywhere near finishing it. Amazing wine list. Will definitely be coming back.

Lovely visit to Coin. Wanted to try this place for a while, not just because we are over the tops in Haworth with our own fairly similar bistro, but also because the menu caught our eye. Have to say it was very good. Had a cheese platter and a meat platter with a side of Almonds/corn and a very nice Priorat followed by a glass of Rioja Crianza for him and a glass of Nero D’Avola for her. We’ll done Oliver and team. Great place you’ve got here!

From the moment we arrived we soaked in the atmosphere it was buzzing, we were not disappointed when we sat down saw a very extensive menu full of exiting food and wine. It did not disappoint when we received our food we had cheese, mixed meats , crispy potatoes and loads more the wine was delicious can’t remember the name but it was a red yummy . So overall great food, great wine and bears , great atmosphere, made very welcome .

We visited here on a rainy Saturday with family who had been before & recommended it. We tried an abundance of dishes, crispy potatoes, choux chips, meat and cheese platters, artichokes, mackerel & anchovies amongst others. All the dishes were delicious, in particular the choux chips were sensational. There’s a great choice of wines & other drinks and the service was spot on. I love that the menu changes regularly so there are always new options with the more familiar choices. Recommended

Always on point. I can’t believe some of the reviews on here regarding the food and the service charge etc. I’ve never known a place more delicious and deserving of a service charge. The service is always exemplary, the small plates are always delicious and the meats and cheeses are so fresh; it’s literally sliced to order. The drinks are unbelievable; some of the best cocktails and wine in Hebden by far. Don’t listen to the idiots, listen to me; If you skip this place on a trip to Hebden, then that’s truly your loss. Good taste is often wasted on TripAdvisor warrior morons.

We’d been recommended Coin by a friend who’d visited about 6 months ago and we’ve heard a lot of hype. To be honest we found it more of a bar with food/snacks than a restaurant. We found the menu quite limited, not many of the dishes were hot and you felt pushed towards the meat and cheese plates as they took up the majority of the menu. I assume the menu changes a lot as it didn’t resemble the one we had seen online. The highlight was the Crispy Potatoes, the Seared Tuna broth was ok (2 of the 3 warm dishes available). Only two desserts on the menu and they’d run out of one of the components of one of those. Service was good, very friendly but we won’t return. Maybe our expectations were too high

I came here with some family members and we had the best time from start to finish. Our waitress was brilliant, the food eclectic, interesting and delicious, the drinks wonderful. We all agreed it was a memorable place and somewhere we’d all enjoy visiting again.

After a generally disappointing meal and service which ranged from OTT to non existent, our bill included an "optional" service charge - the options being either cough up or be subjected to an unpleasant confrontation with the waiter. We were not informed about the service charge. Whether to tip and how much should be the decision of the customer not the management.

First visit to this restaurant & was impressed with the decor & service although the waitress lacked knowledge of the menu. Management need to train their staff appropriately. The food however left a lot to be desired. We had :- . Crab & celeriac remoulade ; little sauce & no sign of crab or it's flavour. • Place with lentils; tasty but only contained small pieces of fish. Expected a small fillet at least. • Hen of the woods ; rather than the fungus grifola frendosa this dish appeared to contain ordinary mushrooms & was tasteless. • Carolus potatoes; good. • Sourdough with butter ; unremarkable & not served as shown on their Website. • Meat plate; good particularly the chicken liver parfait which was exceptional. • Good bottle of red wine. All in all underwhelmed. •

We went here twice during a stay in Hebden Bridge in August 2022. Wow. The food was amazing - a very talented chef. If this was in London it would be booked up months ahead. Instead you could stroll in and take your pick of tables (we were there early in the week, I imagine it gets busier at weekend). Highly recommend the crispy potatoes, the cheese board, the savoury choux chips, charred onions and the pickle plate. But we didn't have anything that wasn't delicious. The house Nero d'avola was good and kept the bill down at £15 for half a litre. Can't wait to go back.

If you like 'small plates', a 'not the run of the mill' wine list and a relaxed atmosphere then COIN is well worth a visit. If it stays on the menu, the oversized spring onions with butterbean puree is the dish that would bring us back again and again, in fact we had seconds alongside seconds of the best crispy potatoes we've ever had! There isn't one dish we wouldn't recommend (not that we sampled ALL of the menu!) and we will certainly be keeping an eye on future menu changes so that we can go back and sample what's new. We did end up with a larger bill than we anticipated but then we did have the oysters and seconds on 2 of the dishes! You could definitely spend less and still have amazing food and wine.
