Coffi Co in Cardiff

Beautiful Location, however my friend ordered an Oat Milk latte, had asked the waiter twice if it was correct. Only to go straight to the kitchen and find out that it was in fact cows milk. Food hygiene rating is 2, and is not presented clearly. Would not go again.

Lovely place and service was good. Enjoyed my small flat white. I thought the £3.61 price slightly expensive.

The location is good, but the venue is understaffed which means that the waiting times are really long. Coffee is fine. System of waiting outside to order isn't efficient. They should allow people to order inside, meaning less distance for servers to walk (you'd just give coffee over the counter).

Visited here for the first time as building looked inviting with its glass sides and nice views. sadly the venue is under staffed who dont really care much about what they ae doing. The coffee is rubbish not nice and I couldnt finish it. Sadly wont be back

I was recommended to come here for a takeaway milkshake and… wow! This was amazing, deffo will be coming back for another.

I ordered a mango smoothie and this arrived lumpy and curdled and didn’t taste of mango. I went up to say it didn’t taste very nice and the woman responded ‘this is what you ordered, what do you want me to do about it’ the coconut milk curdles so you’ve obviously not had coconut milk smoothies before. I responded saying it didn’t taste nice and wanted a replacement, the woman was so so rude but did make a replacement. I was slightly worried they had spat it in it to be honest because her attitude and manner was appalling. This lady had big ear stretchers and black hair, I don’t know her name but you seriously need to reconsider training in customer service. I have been here several times previously but based on this one incident I will not be returning.

Two families ordered here for drinks. The online order took a ridiculous amount of time to go through and even longer to arrive,. One member of staff in particular was rude and dismissive towards us and others. My child went into the restaurant to get a straw after waiting outside for over 5 minutes with no one helping. He was then shouted at for being in the restaurant area and to wait outside. We watched numerous other customers being treated the same way. Disappointing as this cafe had been recommended to us. Sadly, we will not be returning.

I visited yesterday with my disabled friend in an electric scooter and her granddaughter. Only assessable entrance was the side with dusty stones, which made it very difficult to drive the scooter in and especially out. I had to pick the heavy scooter up to enable my friend to get back on!! Also no toilets anymore for public use!! Not allowed inside,as when I went to order as had problems paying through the app with my new card, I was shouted at to wait and the table rather rudely. We waited about 20 minutes plus for one desert. The young lady working was very pleasant. However, overpriced and lack of respect for the disabled will not make me return anytime soon 😕😕

I used to use Coffi Co. Venues in all their sites but now I shan’t be using them again, the service and standard has dropped through the floor, I have as I said been using them since their first opening back in 2019 and they really seemed to flourish through the lockdown periods , but now I think they are trying to spread themselves too thin. Their food, service and attitude is no longer of any quality. their response after leaving feed back privately rather than on sociale media left me with no option bu to leave a honest review. I have added two photos, one of a pizza and fries I bought on a busy Rugby match day back in February where the service was prompt the food was tasty and platted, the ambiance was nice. then yesterday when it was extremely quiet we waited 45 minutes to get a pizza that was over cooked, instead of the bbq sauce base there was just tomato pure speared over the base and and it came in a greasy box and a box of fries £4.40 for fries and £14 for a pizza you don’t expect this terrible service or standard of food served i poor takeaway packaging. I tried to explain to the owners in a private message but their lack of care has prompted this review. We shan’t be using any of those sites again

I always enjoyed visiting the Cardiff Bay Coffee Co but this is the first time we've been there since lockdown. We were told we had to download the app to access their menu. We explained that we didn't have access to a smartphone and asked could we use a paper menu to be told no. I fully appreciate that many customers can and will happily use their smart phones but would it be too difficult to have a small supply of paper menus for those customers who are unable to access a smart phone. We ended up spending our money at a neighbouring cafe. I guess all we can do is vote with our feet.

Mixed bag on the drinks, one saying the hot choc wasn't great. I found my decaf cappuccino to be pretty good but - and I'm still miffed by this - the drink was subject to a 60p surcharge for oatmilk in piece of dairy milk. In terms of volume (given the size of the cup, or lack thereof) I calculate that they must mark up the cost of the oatmilk by about 400% or more. Or more to the point, I paid the price of the dairy milk I DIDN'T have, plus a large and unnecessary surcharge for the oatmilk. Toasted tea cake was impressive, flapjack too, but I will not pay these prices for a small cappuccino again, close to £4 in effect.

Went to lunch with a colleague as our offices are near the coffee shop. Greeted to be barked at that we need to download the app as they don’t supply menus. I am tech savvy but it took a good 15 minutes to download the app due to WIFI issues - for goodness sake supply menus. My colleague wanted to pay by cash and they refused due to covid - covid doesn’t stay on bank notes - have we learned nothing in the past 20 months. If you are that concerned sanitise the note!!! Food was nice but the rudeness of staff, no menus and not accepting cash put a dampener on the visit. We won’t be coming back.

Staff insisted that we use the app to order food. It may be the modern way but is not for us OAPs. The lady who apeared to be in charge helped me download the app but it took quite some time and certainly went against any Covid distancing rules. Finally managed to order coffee and a variety of mince pies for all of us. Coffe was good and the pies very tasty.

We visited this restaurant with friends, four of us had Coffee . Well if you can call it that ! I knew from the moment the coffee was placed on the table that it wasn’t going to be good. We asked for it to be made again and the second cups were no better. The staff were all very young and didn’t seem to care about our experience. Avoid at all costs.

I only came for a smoothie but the app was working to order from my phone and the male server was unbelievably rude to me. I appreciate he must have been very busy but he was huffing and puffing at me like my very existence was an inconvenience to him. Beautiful view of the bay but I will not be going back!

Was really looking forward to one of my first meals out after lockdown. I met some friends and after some problems with downloading the app finally ordered a pizza each. What a disappointing experience. Staff were all rude, zero customer service- just put the pizza boxes on the table not bothering to let us know which is which. Pizza its self wasn’t worth £12! Undercooked toppings and badly presented, looked like my 5 year old put it together. I won’t be going back.

What a shambles of an event.Food: Was told my nut and shellfish allergy would be catered for and when I asked if I was okay to eat the starters that were brought out I was told that “it was best not to risk it.” I complained about this and was told that they would they were sorry and the mains would be fine. When the mains were brought out I double checked again if it was all safe for me to eat to which the waiter said “I don’t know sorry, I’ll check.” He came back and told me it was all safe apart from the chicken which was cooked in the same fryer as shellfish... and the chicken was right next to/touching most of the other food! I was too scared to eat after this so didn’t end up having food. Didn’t even bother asking if I could have dessert as there was an item on the platter that looked like it was covered in nuts and I assumed that as starter and mains had been a no go this would be too. I should also add that the mains platter came out an hour and a half after the starters and was nowhere near enough for the six people it was intended for. Also super unhygienic the way they served the starters/appetisers/canapés; they were bringing them around on slates and going between tables. I actually witnessed someone touch a canapé, decide they didn’t want it and then the waiter took it over to another table. For a venue that seemed so strict in some ways (every time we were getting up to go to the toilet he was running over and asking why we were standing), they were careless in others.Drinks: Where to begin with drinks... there were three different types of cocktails to choose from which constituted the only drinks available as part of the bottomless brunch. The cosmopolitan cocktail was admittedly very nice when I tried it however another table which was part of our group said that theirs tasted like flavoured water and was watered down. The second cocktail seemed to taste just like orange juice. When we asked what it was we were told it was some sort of gin cocktail but they weren’t totally sure what it was. The third cocktail was Mojitos which were very pleasant until about 20 minutes in to the “bottomless bruch” when we were told that they had run out of this. So just two cocktails to choose from for most of the event. However, you could buy yourself a bottle of vodka for the table which comes with two pitchers of orange juice for just £180 (wasn’t an expensive brand) or perhaps you would prefer a bottle of Whitley Neil Raspberry gin and two pitches of lemonade for £130? I’d rather go to Tesco and sit outside on a bench, at least you’d be saving over £100. We were told we weren’t allowed to buy single drinks (e.g. a glass of gin) on their own. Of course it is totally personal choice if you’d like to spend the money on these bottles of spirits, however I found it disappointing that there wasn’t a lot else on offer for a reasonable price. I would like to add that the vast majority of staff were very helpful and friendly and they did have a challenge on their hands with crowds of drunk partygoers who needed to be reminded of Covid restrictions.Overall, this experience was - to put it bluntly - a huge rip-off. Such a shame because this place is the most beautiful location and could be something so special.

Stopped at the Coffi Co ship containers down the Bay and had some food and drinks outside, excellent service. Staff were all so happy and friendly! Looking forward to our next visit.

I visited a year or so ago and the coffee was very poor and nothing has changed. The flat white and americano were weak and tasteless. I can only think they are skimping on the coffee strength to save costs. Avoid!

Tampoco entiende realmente los teléfonos inteligentes y las aplicaciones, ya que tiene más de 70 años. Todo lo que necesita es un poco de tiempo y comprensión y que lo traten con un poco de respeto. Nice drinks which they brought in plastic cups. Really nice place to have a nice cup of coffee. We visited it during covid 19, we ordered through the app and they were shoutting the name when the order was ready.

Again I stopped as no other nearby alternatives, tried latte but terrible, very very weak, no taste, tall only size of norm coffee elsewhere at £2.90 a rip off.... Please re open Wetherspoons....10x better coffee, fraction of cost too..... Coffi Co....no no no

Llamé aquí después de una caminata vigorizante sobre el aluvión con la familia y el perro.Aunque por un lado caro, el aguacate y las tostadas de halloumi estaban deliciosas, ¡mi hija deseaba haber pedido lo mismo! aunque su tostada fue demolida lo suficientemente rápido. No es una mala taza de café tampoco. Agradable para una parada a pie sobre el aluvión y especialmente como perro amigable también.

We called in for coffee and a pasty, all OK but surprised at the price of a plain cheese and onion pasty: £7 each! So much that we thought they made a mistake. We'll just have a drink next time!

Parecía que de todos modos solo tenían un solo café. Luego esperamos 40 minutos por comida que nunca apareció. Al perseguirlo, el Chef simplemente se encogió de hombros y continuó jugando con su teléfono. Tengo un reembolso. Eventualmente (aunque es necesario verificar que llegue). Buena ubicación. Pésimo servicio.

Not a single gluten free option which is quite descriminatory against those who have coeliac disease. Queued up for ages only to find not a single gluten free option. Very poor, this is the 21st century!!

Came here after their neighbour Cadwaladers didn't have customer toilets. Really enjoyed, nice coffee, decent tea, lovely view with great assortment of cakes. Dog friendly venue. Played some great music and used Shazam to find out it was Boyce Avenue. Bought the album as well as the coffee. Well done Coffi Co. Only thing that let you down was the missing staircase to the unused mezzanine. Just looked out of place. Will definitely return here though.

My usual stop off when out cycling and my favourite coffee shop in the City. Would just like to see one or two healthy snack options.

Thie coffee shop had only been opened a week when we called in for a lunxh tie snack after a refurbishment. Last time we visited was when it was the Bosphorus Restaurant (which we loved!). The first thing that hits you is the amount of space taken up with counters - covers the whole of one wall. You could easily get away with a smaller counter which would free up space for more tables. Service was slow and when our order was delivered one meal was missing so we had a wait before it was eventually delivered. The overall atmosphere was not relaxing - noisy and chaotic. Prices on the high side for what is on offer. Won't be rushing back.

I was a bit disappointed to arrive at this place and it be in containers. It was in a dreadful storm so was all misted up in side with water pouring through the entrance, so there were puddles inside. We were here for a conference meal in the evening after a long day. I'm a veggie and I'm sure they must have been informed that they would need to cater for mine and others needs, but there was a disappointing choice. There were some tiny, bitesize half-filled quiches and olives and filled peppers which were difficult to eat with the plastic forks. They don't serve alcohol either, just cans of fizzy drinks or smoothies. So altogether underwhelming. I'll not be returning.

This is a great place for a coffee and different choices and plenty of choice compared to other coffee shops. Great location to relax. Staff were friendly. Prices were Reasonable.

First of all, the food wasn’t great and the service was quite slow. It was quiet when we got there but soon got busy.What annoyed me most was the fact that all the drinks came in plastic cups or un-recyclable coffee cups. Also, all the food came in un-recyclable cardboard and plastic knives and forks!This is 2019! We are in a climate crisis! What are you doing serving everything like this?! Everything ended up in the black bin! Awful for this day and age! Won’t be going back there!

I have been going to this branch for a couple of years weekly with friends. Week by week the place has deteriorated. Menu has been heavily restricted. No longer offering china cups and instead only paper cups. Loyalty card has been replaced by an app but only if you order in advance online. The back of the cafe has now been taken over by fridges and all of the tables have been crammed together to make room for them. Last week all the tables on left of the entrance had been removed so very limited seating. They and also run out of skimmed milk by 12.15pm. That was the last visit I will make here. Strangely the same company but the other side of the bay was completely different and there were none of the above issues and the service was amazing. I assume this must be a franchise with different management/ policies.

So many eateries to choose from & I got it wrong. I wanted a snack on the way home from day out in Cardiff Bay. So called in for a toastie. To be told no choice of bread. Don't get caught out, payment is card only no cash. I consider this poor customer service. My toastie turned up, served in a cardboard box. Lacking class! I hope they recycle.The staff were polite but seemed disinterested. The main thing this place has in its favour is the view over Cardiff Bay, but so do many of the other eateries. Would I call again. No they need to improve if they want me to call again. Having been to Cardiff Bay 3 times recently I think there are many places that are better.

My caramel coffee cooler was delicious, it kept me full all day. My husband had a peanut butter brownie, he said it was gorgeous and squidgy. We sat outside in deckchairs enjoying the view. Worth noting this is a no cash establishment, all payments to be made by card.

We stopped for lunch & managed to find a table over looking the Bay. Many of the tables required clearing, but we were later than the lunch time rush, so it looked like they were still catching up. The sun was strong & there was no shade, but we enjoyed the sun. Only on ordering did we realise you needed to use card payment. It wasn’t a problem, but could have been had we not realised. The food was not long from when we ordered it to it coming. Served on wood, sorry I Like a plate. Ok for a lunch stop, as it was sunny & warm. One of our party got caught out with the sun, burning her shoulder, so be aware. Felt the place could have been a little cleaner.

Lovely day,sun was shining,lots of people eating and drinking inside and out.I thought Yes this looks so inviting.Ordered two coffees,But,as I tendered £20.00 note the barista said....."Sorry,we only accept credit cards"was I embarrassed!Did not have my wallet with me,just put some money in my pocket in case we needed anything.Notices should have been more plainly displayed. Will not be back!

Visited late afternoon. Many tables needed clearing and cleaning. Had to wait a long time to have our order. Would not recommend. Plenty of better places to have coffee in Cardiff Bay. Location is good and convenient.

We went for a quick visit to have a coffee and a snack before we went to the “Beach in the Bay”.They were not busy but it took ages to be served – had to pay by card – but failed to give a receipt -as they don ‘t take cash, very unsatisfactory to assume that everyone has a card. The girl took our order which was for 3 coffees, a couple of cakes and a toastie. 20 minutes later we still hadn’t got the toastie which was for our grandson. The girl who took the order was happily eating her lunch. We complained to another member of staff who said it would be 2 minutes – no apology – 10 minutes later the toastie arrived. I complained and said because of the wait we should have a refund. He went to talk to the member of staff who took the order and then to someone else who was sat 2 tables away – she was in charge as far as we could make out. Another 10 minutes we still hadn’t had a response – except that the original member of staff kept glaring at us through the window! I went in and asked if we were going to get a response to our request and she replied “I’m trying to find your details on the till” at which point I said if they gave a receipt it would be easy and she said they don’t give receipts as they haven’t a printer. At this point I was so annoyed I demanded a full refund because of all the waiting and eventually she did make a full refund but was far from happy about it.It is expensive, the service is dire, the staff don’t acknowledge or smile.Our bill for 3 poor (tasteless) coffees, a toastie and 2 soggy buns was nearly £22.00.The only good thing is that you have a view of the bay.

This coffee shop has a wonderful site. We popped in for coffee earlish on Sunday morning. The coffee was very hot and tasty but my wife asked for her coffee to be made a certain way; the young man nodded and said that what she asked for was easy. Sadly either he hadn't listened or he failed to pass on her request because what was served was just an ordinary cappuccino. The table we sat had had been cleared but their were large sticky patches of spilt coffee - it just needed a quick wipe.This is a lovely place to have coffee but standards are not the highest.

Took 12 minutes to get served but hardly any queue! Won't take cash - card only. Woeful service and not cheap

Loved the comfy surroundings inside and out and the vibe created by the general relaxed atmosphere, helped by the good choice of background music. Coffee was lovely but disappointed with paying premium prices to be given paper cups.

Went in for lunch with a few friends - toastie was a little disappointing (small) but coffee and brownie were really good (especially the brownie!!!). Nice places to sit inside and out :).

Found this small container shop while wandering around the Bay area on a damp Cardiff day. Good vibes with good coffee, pleasant relaxing background music and a lovely airy feel to the lounge where one can just chill out, read, work on the laptop or simply just view the bay.

I used to love calling into this Coffee stop after a walk over the Barrage with my dog but was so disappointed when we visited this morning. It was 11am on a Friday and there was only one other customer in (also with a dog) yet I was served what appeared to be a heated up ‘toasted’ tea cake (I don’t think a toaster was involved) and a lukewarm Latte. The latte was served in a paper cup and the tea cake in a woefully inadequate cardboard box! I had to hold the floppy teacake in my hand in order to butter it as the box was terrible. Needless to say this is one coffee shop that is now firmly off our visiting list. I had no problem with them using paper cups on busy weekends but on an extraordinarily quiet week day it’s unforgivable, although apparently permanent!

We called in after a walk from the barrage.Been here a few times before. This time the service was acceptable. But what was really disappointing, was the fact the toast was not really cooked, still bread. And the hash brown was still frozen on both breakfast buns.

Called in today for morning coffee and place was surprisingly quiet.It was a cold windy day but log burner was not lit?!?!Coffees are now only served in takeaway cups, which are not recyclable, asked for cup sleeves due to heat of cup, “ we don’t give them but you can have another cup (non recyclable)”Food is now served in non recyclable boxes! Not on plates! Why go to a place that feels like a takeaway and pay expensive prices? Since they’ve opened a few new sites, they have let standards slip, Shame but so many places do this.With everyone trying to recycle and become more environmentally friendly , why has Coffi Co gone the opposite way? Greed?

We ordered food. Paid by card (these are no cash premises). Couldn't get a receipt. Then they said they hadn't got what we'd ordered. They had very limited choice left. Then things went weird it transpired that no refund could be processed....and then the remains of out order was cancelled. Further increasing the debt owed to us. That was over 24 hrs ago. We still await a refund....

Big queue going nowhere... Obviously doing something right but actually serving coffee wasn't a strong point! Left thirsty...

We have now been back a number of times, friends live in Cardiff bay introduced us about 3 months ago. Very friendly staff very good service, each time we return it is getting busier . Top quality coffee and a good selection of cakes.

Went for coffee and a bite of lunch a bit after 1300hrs and the down side of our visit was the lack of choice. Hardly any pies and pasties.The plus side was the very friendly and obliging staff who couldn’t have been more helpful. In fact while we were eating there was a rather ‘difficult’ gentleman who one of the young girls handled with admirable diplomacy. Coffee was good, food came promptly and was good, place was clean and tidy

Lovely ambience in this place, always visit when in Cardiff, with our pooch. Fabulous ‘pie’ dishes with super smoothies. Great coffee with good music too

Visited this great located coffi house which over looks Cardiff Bay. Great selection of drinks and cakes and even alcoholic drinks which would be fab in an evening. Great setting will visit again

Wednesday 16/01/19My visit to Coffi Co in the harbour was very poor.There was no welcome from the staff, the tables and baby chairs were dirty.We asked for the table to be cleaned but no one arrived so we used wet wipes.The Tea Cake was burnt and rock hard, the overall experience was very disappointing.I use the venue at least once a week and today was nothing like previous visits, especially the attitude of the staff.Great venue/location but not making the most of it.Shockingly the food rating is only a TWO.This place could be a little gem but not today.

I have been to Coffi Co before and enjoyed it to some extent, so thought I would try it out again.The coffee wasn’t that great at all and looked like it had been made in a rush without any care or attention.It’s a nice location though, and has lots of seating.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and very much enjoyed sitting outside with coffee and cake. Loved the deckchairs.

Decided to pop in for lunch on a lovely Sunday afternoon as no one can question its lovely location. Found the staff to be rude and disinterested, tables covered in previous customers left overs with no intentions of it being cleared & food and coffee was distinctly average. Il go to the other options next time.

Lovely setting on a sunny day, staff were friendly when they could be found and the hard work of getting their attention was achieved. Flat White was good, muffins etc worryingly overpriced. A good place to sit and take in the views of the Bay, but has a feel that the owners thought the hard work was over and done designing the interior rather than thinking about customer service.

I will start by saying i have come to this coffee shop since it first opened and usually go in once a week sometimes as much as three times in the summer when i walk my dog. I frequent here a lot because they allow dogs in which is great! The staff are usually great and know me by face and always come and say hello to my dog by name. So this is not aimed at them usually I'm happy with my visits.Unfortunately this visit was very disappointing today. It was made far worse by the response i got from a staff member.I ordered a coffee as usual and decided i wanted some food. I looked at the range of pasty's they had on offer and choose the Roast chicken dinner. Its in the price range of £6.95 can't remember exactly. It stated the filling to be that of a roast dinner, chicken, potatoes, gravy and some vegetables. When it came to the table i cut it straight in half. It was a very bland beige colour through out. I took a bite out of it and the filling could be described as a thick paste. I took my knife and moved the filling around and it was like it through out. There was lumps of chicken separated by this paste through out and not much else. It seems as if all the gravy potato and vegetables where put through a food processor and the chicken was added to it at the end. My expectations where to have chunky bits for potato and vegetables with some signs of gravy. Not a pale paste through out. I paid good money for it so i continued eating. The filling was heavy with no real texture. The flavour was the same through out, which can be only described as uneventful and rather bland when compared to the description. Its almost as if its just packed with flavourings rather than filling. Usually I wouldn't say anything and just not order again but I come here frequently and wanted to give some feed back. I didn't want my money back and I would never ask for it or accept it as it can sometimes put into question the reason for the feedback or complaint.I took the tray with food on to the counter and gave it to one of the girls at the end and said thanks but i didn't really enjoy the food. I explained as above. She apologised, i said it wasn't a problem but I just wanted to let her know and pass it on. Then someone called Jess who I believe who was the supervisor, jumped in with no introduction and asked what the issue was. I explained again and she then smiled at me and said "well your the only one who doesn't like them". I had no response to her. I literally just smiled and walked out. I guess i should have been a good customer and shut my mouth and ate my pasty.Thank you for making me feel like a valued customer. I guess feed back is over rated these days. Thanks to all the staff who usually are polite and say hello to Dexter when we come in. It's a shame it takes one rude person with little thought on what is taking place to change your view on a place. I can say I wont be back anytime soon if at all. There are plenty places to get coffee from in the bay that are far more polite and value customers better.

My most favorite cafe in the bay. Food is always fresh, tasty reasonably priced, local flavour and the place is quite quirky with a warm fire in the winter and deckchairs outside in the summer, The Welsh crisps are fantastic and light.

After visiting here on a number of occasions and mostly a positive experience the last couple of trips to both this one and the other coffee shop in Cardiff bay the waiting time just to get served with a coffee is far too long. Within the space of 3 days I have visited both and had exactly the same poor level of service. On both times there has not been enough people available to serve, and with this they are then balancing taking orders, making drinks and preparing food, often with tables that then need clearing. The pressure that this has put on the members of staff is then evident in the way they then serve customers often coming across rude and abrupt. A real let down and such a shame, will think twice about visiting again.

Ordered pasties for lunch as we'd heard that they are a speciality of this establishment. We were told they would take 20 minutes but we were prepared to wait.35 minutes later, the first one arrived and the others arrived in dribs and drabs over the next 10 minutes.The cheese pasty tasted of nothing other than the potato it had been bulked out with. When I asked for some salt to give it some flavour, I was told they had none. The "Roast Dinner" pasty only tasted of stuffing.There is no shortage of eating and drinking establishments in the Cardiff Bay area, so my advice would be to find somewhere else.

I visited this cafe for the first time during the Eisteddfod (an annual Welsh cultural event held, this year in Cardiff Bay). It's a busy time.The cafe is on a small pier jutting out into Cardiff Bay. It is a lovely setting. There is seating both inside and out. The speciality of the house is its pasties. If you're into frothy coffees or hot chocolates it's great for you too.The pasty comes with a small salad and coleslaw. It makes a satisfying lunch and tastes lovely. Added to that it comes on a steel tray topped with paper. You stir your drink with a wooden spoon. It just shows that even in busy, small cafes you don't have to use single-use plastic.Obviously it's better on the sunny day that we started with, sitting outside watching the yachts; but when a heavy rain shower came after we had finished our meal we had some shelter from the structure of the cafe before moving inside for a hot drink.I look forward to returning here next time I'm in the bay.

Perfect location at the bay. A very good selection of drinks but the smoothies were slightly average.

As others have mentioned, the view across the bay is the USP for this establishment, and you'll really get to know every inch intimately because of the amount of time it would have taken for your drink to be created and pushed sullenly towards you by, what I can only imagine was the winner of "Cardiff's Least Customer Focused Person" 2018.Avoid, you'll have longer to enjoy your stay...

Came here in the evening for a couple of drinks. We sat outside which meant we had amazing views over the bay whilst enjoying our drinks - Blue Moon and a Vodka Cranberry. Yet to try the food but it looks lovely and will definitely be back to do so. Also there was live music which was a nice addition.

Please stop serving everything in disposable / plastic cups!!We live in 2018....surely you realise here is a worldwide campaign against this. I've seen many reviews sayin the same thing about this place so surely they're just blatantly ignoring customers. I sat inside today and was still given my milkshake in a plastic cup with a straw...Wasn't even asked whether I was taking it away or not....get with the times! The milkshake was overpriced and even though it looked amazing, it did not taste of anything! I had to wait ages for it and after being asked what I was waiting for...the women then said 'I have already given you it'... which I felt was very rude and accusative. Why would I still be waiting there if I already had it. After which she said she would make another as someone had taken my order. On the outside, this place looks lovely however when you go inside you realise that it's just another overpriced 'rustic' and 'indie' looking cafe....which isn't very good.

Having visited here a few times and enjoying them all I was looking for somewhere for a spot of lunch and decided to return.. I was recommended the Sunday Dinner pasty which was reasonably priced. When it arrived it was presented very well & tasted absolutely amazing! The coffee is nice as well! My girlfriend has had smoothies and shakes there and says they’ll amazing too! If you’re in the bay, get on over and give it a go!

Great location, overlooking the bay. They are dog friendly too!Lovely stop for coffee and cake- only downside was my coffee probably contained about 1000 calories I had the toffee nut latte and there was even a full toffee in it! My friend had the honeycomb latte and it looked like something out of Harry Potter!Superb!

Title of the review says it all really - the location out over the water is fantastic with a lovely array of tables outside overlooking the bay, but the queue inside seems to move at a snails pace despite the friendly servers best efforts

Two of us called lunchtime - we both had the goat's cheese and spinach ciabatta and americano Sat outside in the sun soaking in the atmoshpere - great

I've been to two other Coffi Cos in Cardiff but I found the experience here disappointing. The venue has a great location by the water in an old container.We arrived just after 8am, however we had to wait 30 minutes for a tea cake and a sandwich. We were told it would take 15 minutes so this was really disappointing as I'd explained we had my daughter who needed to go to school, if they were upfront when we arrived we could have gone elsewhere. They didn't even have any flapjacks etc out for 20 minutes, this should at least be available during the open times. It really felt like they didn't care!The teacake was pretty dull, pain au chocolat was ok. We were given paper cups despite them knowing we were staying in, this is really wasteful given the recent promotions on most coffee shops to encourage reusable cups.I doubt we'll return.

Cocktail menu offered a bramble cocktail, made with Sipsmith gin.On watching the bartender make the drink, I noticed she used Tanqueray rather than Sipsmith. When queried, I was told that they substituted this as they'd run out of Sipsmith, and it was an equivalent price. From research, the retail price for a bottle of Tanqueray is £16, compared to £27 for Sipsmith. I believe this to be deliberate misselling, especially since this wasn't made clear up front, and I am currently pursuing this with the local Trading Standards department. Other ingredients were also substituted, with Chambord used instead of Creme de Cassis. Again, this wasn't highlighted at the time of ordering. In addition, the rest of the ingredients weren't fresh, and for the price paid (£8 per drink), represent very poor value for money - lukewarm cartoned apple juice, lemon juice from a bottle, frozen fruit garnish.Nice location, but that's about it. Very narrow walkway, not helped by the addition of a huge speaker blasting out terrible music, and drunk visitors leaning over crowded tables.Avoid avoid avoid.

£5.75 for a microwaved potato and a bit of cheese really takes the mickey. Pasties the size of a small horse but priced similarly. Nice location, but other places nearby equally nice without the need for a second mortgage.

Went in for coffee at 5 pm , was offered cardboard cups but we insisted on proper cups. There were 4 persons behind the counter but only one purveying the coffee very slowly.We then went to an area of the café which was bathed in sunlight with nice comfortable chairs.However a 5 20pm a member of staff came to ask us to move as he wanted to clean the area. I politely told him we would move when we had finished which we did however he did try to intermediate by banging chairs loudly. Eventually we vacated but only after finishing our coffees which were nice.

Stopped here on our Cardiff Nextbikes for a morning coffee before heading round the bay on a glorious Bank holiday Sunda. The staff were friendly, the food looked fantastic but we'd had breakfast already sadly. the coffe was hot and a great flavour and the staff were happy to fill my own cup. It's decorated in a hipster style inside and has a great outside area too.

Stopped enroute over Cardiff Barrage towards the Bay. Nice coffee and plenty seating areas. Very popular with cyclists and dog walkers. Beware the v confident gulls who pinch anything!

Called in an hour before closing to find the cakes being put away and staff sweeping up. had a coffee and left. This place has been open less than 3 years and is very shabby indeed. !

Great smoothies, nice pastries, some good music and a fabulous Cardiff Bay day made this the perfect stop off for a leisurely lunch. Would definitely return one day.

Had the hulk smoothie, overnight oats, Nutella muffin, coffee and a berry smoothie. All were decent. The place looks good. Nice sitting out in the sun. Pasties look lovely. So do the rolls etc.

Called here after visiting norweigan church.Good place and the americano was ok.The jaffa cake sponge was to die for,absolutely lovely.Going back for this. Pasties seem huge.Not sure about some staff think it is eastern european but had to repeat a few times. Maybe the welsh accent.Will call back when visiting the bay.Think they have a shop in porthcawl my town which i have frequented.

This review applies to mermaid quay coffee shop. We intended to have coffee today, and stood at counter and staff were totally oblivious to us. We had to make ourselves known and then we had to approach someone else to take order. Cakes etc uncovered. Floor was dirty and tables not cleaned. Left and went to wetherspoons much better.

Lovely view of Cardiff Bay. Unfortunately, the place was filthy. Tables were sticky and covered in crumbs, and the floor was disgusting. Dirt, old food, cutlery all just left where it fell. This place could have been lovely if a little more attention was given to the hygiene. Ironically, it has a 4 Star hygiene rating, so maybe it was an off day?

I called here for a cup of coffee. As I walked through the door I saw that almost all the customers in this cafe had been given disposable cups to hold their drinks. This despite there being plenty of proper cups and mugs behind the counter. I asked for a coffee in a proper mug. The waitress behind the counter obviously understood my point and said that they had been particularly busy that day. Though an explanation, it wasn't an excuse, especially after all the recent publicity regarding the environmental effects of disposable cups. Also, the coffee was quite weak and tasteless - had quite a cheep flavour. However the place itself was very nice hence the two points.

Great place to go for coffee and cake. We were killing some time and getting out of the rain, and sat for about an hour in front of the wood burning stove! Nobody rushed us away, and unsusually for a coffee store I got a really nice cup of tea! Only downside I would like to see them using real cups/mugs instead of the single use ones, but I'm guessing this is easier when they are really busy and do more takaway in season. Great selection of homemade looking cakes and pastries. Didn't try any main meals but pastries we had were good.

We arrived at 4:30 for a coffee and cake to be told we will have to have a take out as they were closing at 5:00, when we pointed out it was 30 minutes before closing SHE begrudgingly served us and said she was on her own and then served 3 customers after us, without any questions or fuss.We saw second member stuff going behind the counter with cups and doing some washing. Good coffee but really made us feel uncomfortable, if you’re shutting at 5:00pm what is the last time people are allowed in for coffee??

Called in today for coffee, which was really nice. Unfortunately the table and floor was covered in crumbs from the previous customer. The view across the bay would have good except the glass doors were covered in hand prints, spills and paw prints. Although the place has a rustic look, it needs a really good clean. Won't bother again.

Lovely atmosphere, with plenty of seating and a quirky decor. Pasties are soooo yummy, as are their awesome coffees! Staff were ever so helpful and kind. Really love this place! Great for lunch out, chilling with a cuppa or getting some work done (of course there is wifi!). Bonus: lush views of the Bay.

When the unit first opened it was serving quality coffee in earthenware cups. Now its just brown water in super sized paper receptacles. What a shame, it seems the thirst for footfall, the revamped Coffi Co former Bosphorous outlet is also pretty grim, has undone the quality experience of 12 months ago. Wont bother again

LIVE MUSIC, FESTIVE STREET FOOD tickets £21.95. We had 10 tickets. It said ATTEND ONE OF OUR CHRISTMAS NIGHTS AT OUR QUIRKY COFFICO LOUNGE, MERMAID QUAY.We had free drinks to begin - not a lot of choice but it was ok. As for the street food, it was more like something you would be offered at an office meeting. We were each given a small tray containing two mini turkey baps, a mini hotdog, two balls of stuffing, two mouthfuls of mash potato and some slaw. Our conversation fazed out as Band Aid asked if 'they' knew what day it was, Wizzard wished every day was the same and Noddy Holder's yelling grew louder. Served on another tray each, the deserts comprised a ring doughnut cleverly surrounding squirty cream and a couple of nibs of popped corn with two slices of something whipped tasting like oil, emulsifier and sugar.The live music came on unintroduced so I don't know who he was. He was like a busker but even louder than the previous decibels. He gave us his own cover versions of Noddy, Wizzard and Band Aid, so I put my coat on. Evening was worth about £10. so it was either overpriced or Coffi underachieved.

We came across this gem by chance and by god will we be coming back. The hot chocolates were out of this world. Very happy hubby and girls after having this treat. 5*

If, like me, you are sick of Hipsters sitting for days on end with a designer frapp and lap top writing about the importance of beards, this is the place for you.The only thing serious in this place is the coffee.Staff are you and enthusiastic, music brilliant and ambience like a New York loft.This is surprising given the place is a series of shipping containers cleverly put together like meccano.Best place to get coffee without the Hipster Hype!

this is a converted shipping container but it's done really well . nice atmosphere and the coffee I had was excellent. the steak pasty was brill - proper steak filling and plenty big. poor weather stopped sitting outside but I liked the deck chairs for that rare sunny day

Good menu at fair prices. The coffee and tea options were varied. Nice place to sit outside and people watch.
