Unfortunately I have reported this branch of Coffee #1 to the local council’s food hygiene department as I have witnessed a staff member putting a plastic packet of frozen fruit to her mouth, using her teeth to open the packet, and pouring fruit from the saliva-covered packet into a blender to make a smoothie for a paying customer. Revolting.

I like this cafe but it's a bit "rough and ready"; chipped plates and not all that clean. Now one has to ask for a napkin which means it's difficult to wipe crumbs etc. Off tables before sitting down.I think this is mean. The staff barely make the minimum wage and work hard, but, I don't like being asked personal questions while I'm waiting for my drink. Also, if you get in early the muffins aren't available as they're "still frozen" even though they're in the display . They have finally cleaned the bathroom properly...I'm not going into details, but, it wasn't good.

Expensive but nice coffee. Filthy dirty coffee shop. Poor if not non existent WiFi do not depend on WiFi Floors very grimy and dirty, windows dirty, Dangerous to dogs as the free coffee grinds are above doc water bowl and caffeine is deadly to dogs. Staff chatting to each other and not friendly to customers. Server took order and barista need to ask me what I wanted. Toilets worn and dirty walls floors and utilities.

Choose this in preference to the Starbucks over the road, what a mistake. The man behind the counter seemed more interested in performing “the diva” act than making coffee whilst the rest of the staff milled around arranging chairs and dramatically ripping newspapers and throwing them in a bin. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.

decided to have a cup of coffee and cake with my granddaughter who is one. We sat by the window. I put her highchair in place of a chair and the staff member behind the till, flew out and literally moved the chair to another table making sure I knew she was doing it. She looked really angry. I was served bu her at the till and she was really rude. I don't know what i supposed to have dine to upset her, but I wont be returning. In addition to this I used the baby changing which right at the back of the cafe with chairs and tables in the way, so it was really hard to navigate the pushchair. The toilet was dirty and smelly. It did not have any toilet paper or soap the baby changer was filthy so I didn't use it

I’ve popped into Coffee#1 Stroud a few times. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. On this occasion I had just walked a few miles of the nearby Stroudwater Canal, on a cold morning. It was lovely, walking into the cafe, smelling the coffee and looking at the cakes on display. However, for me, this is my go to place for Hot Chocolate. Always hot and not too sweet.

I come to coffee#1 almost everyday on my work break. The staff are amazing! Always make me feel welcome and they have a good sense of humour. They know what drink I order so I’m never waiting too long and they always make it to perfection. I don’t drink dairy so it’s good that they always have oat milk too 😃 Would definitely recommend the Stroud branch as it’s a much nicer atmosphere as opposed to others I have been to.

Not been in coffee #1 for some time but used to visit other stores in the chain regularly. Popped in here for takeaway cappuccino. Staff looked as if they'd rather be somewhere else. When I got home and tasted the so called cappuccino it was probably the worst coffee I've ever had, no trace of actual coffee, boiling hot and no chocolate. Never again.

I normally buy my hot chocolate from the Coffee#1 in Bristol in Clifton which is superb. This is the second time I have bought oat hot chocolate from Stroud and the second time I have been given dairy milk instead of oat milk. This time I asked when I received the drink before tasting as I have an allergy to cows milk. They admitted it was dairy milk, they were not apologetic and just made some excuse about the oat milk being used for porridge. This is a serious problem! I should not have to ask my barrista if they have made me the correct drink….there should be something in place to ensure this. The attitude of one of the staff was terrible! Sarcastic face and rolling eyes at my request. I don’t appreciate this when my weekend treat is literally this hot chocolate.

Coffee #1 Stroud clearly thinks not. Very unfriendly woman, apparently affronted at my request for a batch filter (a product Coffee #1 usually offers) and then blamed me for the slow operation of her till. I realise a job in a coffee shop chain may not be living the dream, but in future, as a paying customer, I will be using one of the independent shops that Stroud offers.

I have gone there several times in the company of others. I've found their food and snacks to be overpriced, and with the number of really pleasant independent cafes around Stroud I really don't see the point of Coffee 1, especially since there's a Costa and Greggs around the corner who cater to much the same people but with cheaper food, just as (or more) tasty as well. We travel west several times a year and one of the highlights of our trips is a visit to a Coffee#1. We particularly love their espresso frappes and the opportunity to sit and chat in a sloppy chair. Their other coffees along with their cakes are also yummy. Unfortunately I cannot recommend their toilets. It doesn't seem to matter which branch we visit these days the front is always hanging off the toilet roll holder, the toilet rolls are balanced on the sink or on a pipe or worse, on the floor, and invariably the toilet seat is scarcely attached to the rest of the toilet. I appreciate that a considerable number of the people who buy their coffee will also use their loo meaning that they are probably overused but the consistently miserable condition of the toilets is very disappointing and needs to be addressed.

Really is #1 for coffee and the sandwiches are great too, and they come plated with salad and crisps.

Our favourite coffee shop at the moment; please don't spoil it. Nice, friendly staff who, so far have remained largely unchanged, nice coffee in handy cups rather than clunky Costa type things, comfortable seating and a warm atmosphere. (We used to like Cirencester but not any more....)

Second visit here, first was good but this time the restaurant was almost empty and half the items on the menu they couldn't do

The front of house staff were not welcoming at all and under no uncertain terms, we were told we hadn't booked. We sat in the bar area and I have to say , I think the main Manager was very moody. There was no feedback on is your meal OK, etc, or any social interaction from staff. The majority of staff looked like they did not want to be there. I do think this is a pub for regulars and because we were staying at a local hotel with different accents , were treated differently indeed. However the food was great but were very very disappointed by the Customer service provided. We would never return again as the atmosphere was very unwelcoming.

We arrived in Stroud mid afternoon on a Saturday. The kids were starving and every other place we tried to get into was in the process of shutting. Despite Stroud being packed, Milano appeared to be the only place open that was still doing lunch or any type of food for that matter ! The lady behind the counter was super friendly and everything that we had to eat was tasty and really good value too. My youngest especially liked the Spag Bol and the proper milk shake made with ice cream. Don`t be put off by some of the reviews on here, it`s a nice place and really friendly. Just don`t go in expecting a restaurant, the clue is in the word cafe !
