I visited last Saturday as this place was recommended on my drive through to Cornwall. I was warmly greeted by a young lady with glasses who took my order. Very friendly and informative. We ended up having toasties and cake recommend by server which was delicious. Overall a lovely place warm welcome and efficient service. Only downside server was constantly being order to do other tasks whilst serving throwing off the flow of service, lady who seemed in charge was very manic and distracting which seemed to fluster the other ladies working. However I would still recommend.

We had such a lovely greeting from Nettie such a great service and both Nettie and Miriam are so delightful. Coffee is amazing and our food was delicious 😋

Stopped for a very quick bite to eat and a coffee , I wasn't to sure if I'd made the right choice as I've nit had such great service in another town but I wanted to try . The service was great from the young lady that served us, she smiled she was welcoming she had conversation she was flawless with the service she gave ,her colleagues also helpful and polite. Usually I ask for names to make a complaint but not this time BTW her name is Sonia so please pay her a visit she will not disappoint.

On June 20th 2023 I wrote a very uncomplimentary review about Coffee#1 Honiton. It was dirty, staff were scruffily presented and tables had not been cleared. My wife and I were back in Honiton yesterday and called into two other establishments and left without ordering. The minute we walked into Coffee#1 the changes hit us. The food on display looked inviting, sensibly priced, the cabinets were clean, no crumbs or spilt fillings.The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful from the word go, everyone was beautifully presented. They worked hard as a team which enhanced the whole environment. There were no tables waiting to be cleared and no queuing. The eating areas were tidy and clean and service was very prompt. You have set the standard in Honiton, we were made to feel welcome and not an inconvenience. It is all down to staff attitude and work ethic.Well done.

We live locally and used to love this place, but it is now extremely run down and tatty. The toilet floor is half missing and the furniture needs to be replaced. The coffee is still nice though, and so are the staff.

Delicious flat white. Perfect temperature. One of a few open early! Lovely music to work with and fabulous atmosphere.

Popped into shop to get a spicy pumpkin hot chocolate. There was a long wait as only 2 people serving and cafe was quite busy. The cafe was nice and clean and servers were polite. I would go again but not when there’s a long queue . Get more staff and I’m sure you will get lots more customers.

Nice coffee, but lost stars for charging extra for Oat milk. They don't charge for cow's milk; why should the charge extra for Oat. Pisses me off more than it should.

Very friendly staff member on shift first thing Saturday morning - and i love their fun green hair! They were on shift on their own but remained calm, professional and friendly despite a constant queue. I also tried the honeycomb iced coffee for the first time - it was delicious!!

Having been impressed by the standards of Coffee 1 businesses in other towns we had no qualms about popping into this one. The two young men serving were slow, one kept disappearing . No apology was made to the forming queue, no attempt made to help one elderly gentlemen on a cane to take his tray to a table. The orders given were not listened to and customer relations did not enter the equation. When the server put my tea cup with his fingers inside the cup and not on the handle before placing it on the tray I asked for another, he obliged but put the handled cup back in the rack. Neither server looked clean and the lavatory was disgusting. We tried two other establishments during our day in Honiton on business, cleanliness was improved but there was a total malaise and disinterest in customer satisfaction. We entered one at 15h45 to be told we would have to be quick they were closing at 16hOO. We know that times are really tough in the hospitality industry, most of us want to support you and keep you afloat but at least come half way to meet us and make us feel a tiny bit welcome and not an inconvenience.

It made a nice change to go into a coffee shop, and have a very good experience. I was served straight away, the coffee was very nice, and the ambience, was lovely.

Yet again the store wasn’t open on time. This happens far too often and after speaking to the staff, turns out it’s the manager who can’t seem to open on time. How embarrassing. Even after my friends complained about the manager not opening on time to head office, it seems nothing is being done to fix it! She needs to be reprimanded and demoted. I don’t know how she’s not ashamed of the way she treats her staff as yesterday I saw a member of the staff come in before she opened and had to do it for her. Let’s just say he did not look pleased. Coffee1 you need to fix this.

Plenty of seating by the bus stop and car park. not any different to its competitors but ideal for a quick coffee and cake

4th November I went for a coffee, there was only one barista so waited 20 minutes for coffee. The shop was dirty. I paid contactless which I thought was safe. A few days later I got my bank statement and was surprised to see that I had been charged twice. I contacted the bank, and they agreed that I had been charged twice £13.00 each time. The bank suggested that I should contact the retailer to get a refund. 4 phone calls and 1 email I managed to speak with her. She was I am afraid a liar. She denied having received my contact details or email. The helpful barista had passed her my details 3 times. The manager once put on the spot could not give me a refund unless I brought my card in and my bank statement. I don't live near Honiton and driving 10 miles to get a £13 refund would put me even more out of pocket. Why could she not be helpful after all it was her mistake. I had to prove the error because the manager could not be bothered to look at her report for that day. Absolutely disgraceful. Lost for words at her total lack of understanding. I really think the barista I spoke to should run the shop. Reading the reviews, I can see that the shop is heading to oblivion unless you pit in a competent and caring manager who respects their customers as customers and not dimwits!!

Visited this cafe for the first time today and although the coffee was good I was quite surprised to see that there was no sanitisation of tables between customers, there should be no excuse for this at this time. Also went to use the toilet...

I like the coffee they serve, but that's about it. As previously stated, it's still all takeaway cups and paper bags even for eat ins, but there's worse. In the time I was there, no one cleared any tables. Instead, there's a station with table cleaner, disposable blue roll and a bin (the liner's too small) so I'm guessing you have to clean up yourself. It was quiet when I was there but I imagine that in reality you clear up after the previous occupant of your table. Sorry guys, but it's a big tick in the "could try harder" box.

Stopped for 2 lattes. They are no longer allowing cups, but you have to have them in takeaway cups due to covid? Why? Costa coffee can give you your order in normal cups why can't coffe #1? Not only does coffee not taste as good in a takeaway cup, we are paying the same price and these takeaway cups are not recyclable. Will go elsewhere until you can do it properly!

Ordered 2 drinks from girl with bar through ear and an undercut hair do. . Not 1 word did this server utter..only eye contact was glaring. Asked for cinnamon on my drink and if looks could kill I'd be dead. She then shook it all over the tray and walked off. I was shocked at her rude dismissive behaviour. Seen her there before I think, looking surly. She needs some training or sacking one or the other. Shame as so unnecessary.

My third visit here and every time I am greeted with negative customer service. Mainly, but not solely, by one girl who for some reason always has cat ears on? (it’s November!!) Rude. Negative. Dismissive. I don’t know much about coffee. Just about what I like. When asking about something different today I was met with such millennial behaviour. Very “I can’t believe you don’t know what that is how dare you ask me” Also no smile. I don’t even think she said hello to me. Very transactional. I get that you can be having a bad day, but for every visit it is the same. Such a shame because the coffee is excellent and other members of staff are brilliant. (short brunette girl, tall blonde boy - sorry I don’t have names)

Just passing through on my way back from the West Country... expected a fairly routine coffee stop experience, but was pleasantly surprised by the friendly service and truly excellent coffee and superb Portuguese tart! Friendly, relaxed and spacious location with library of books and comfy chairs.

I popped in for a cuppa just before the cafe closed. I was concerned I would hold them up. Tommy served me and told me not to worry about the closing time as they had to clean up. They were really kind and friendly he brought my coffee to me as he saw I was using a crutch. I’ve always been impressed by the service in our Honiton Coffee 1 so thank you!

Stopped at cafe 1 I Honiton, and was plesently surprised.The staff were great and we got coffee, but unlike some of the more main stream coffee shops, we were able to taste the coffee. He place was busy but it was clean. Would go there again.

We often pop into Coffee No 1 when we visit a new town, as we have always had good service.Honiton's branch was no exception. We received a friendly welcome from the two young ladies serving.We had a coffee and a cold drink and the prices are reasonable.There is a range of seating: dining tables and chairs, and comfy sofas and easy chairs.The interior is very homely, with bookcases and posters of well-known books on the walls.

Used to be a good place for coffee, cakes and soup. Used to have friendly staff who knew what they were doing. No more! Luke warm soup, cold naan bread, untrained staff.

so i’ve on and off been coming to this cafe for months and months. i love it here, the coffee is great, the atmosphere is great and the staff are great. however, upon doing my taxes, it seems i have been constantly over charged by one employee (the name comes up on the receipt so i know exactly who) every single time. instead of asking for the seasonal bean, she just charges me for it without my consent, there for i am paying an extra 30p without my consent. to the majority of people this might not seem an issue, however if you realised how much i spend in this store you would come to realise how much i really am being over charged. i am pretty confident in saying that charging over the stated amount for a product is fraud.

Had never been to this coffee shop as was visiting my sister who lives in Honiton. I had initially gone into Costa Coffee but walked out as i was totally ignored. So feeling a little cross i walked into a lovely welcome and was served straight away. I only had a flat white which was very nice. I sat and read my paper in a comfy chair watched the world go by and waited for the rain to stop.

I've been coming to this cafe since it first opened, and pop in at least once a week. The team are dedicated, happy, and always friendly, and that makes every visit great.The drinks menu is big enough to suit your needs, the food is tasty, and the coffee blends are much better than other larger chains.Great work Coffee#1 Honiton

Just spent a wonderful couple of hours in Coffee #1 in Honiton. Great service, fast wifi and very dog-friendly. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful.

Nothing is too much trouble. Once you have tried this chain of coffee shop's you will seek them out in most major towns and city's in Wales and the West country.

Always a very warm welcome at Coffee 1 and staff make an effort to recognise regular customers which is a lovely touch. Regardless whether you are first timers or regulars the coffee is great and the pastel de natas scrumptious

A few months ago I was recommended to visit this store on the basis of the great coffee and amazing staff, however I find every time I go in, they are very short of it.

Fancied a light lunch so dropped in here, a breath of fresh air, really friendly helpful staff. Coffee was lovely as was the Panini. Plenty of seating too. I hope this chain spreads further.

I tend to find Coffee#1 Honiton a little hit and miss. The coffee isn't always consistently good as there are often trainee baristas working. However, when the coffee is good-its very good.

Relaxing place for a break and to stop for a coffee - lattes are really tasty and service is good. Not a bad place for watching the world go by!

Travelling back from holiday, en-route Cornwall, we stopped for a coffee at Honiton.

Since quite while ago, when we visited that place, all has been tweaked for the better: cleaner toilets, faster service, amazing smiles, excellent coffees (I love the sugar free Vanilla sirup as I am Diabetes Level 2); Also the strong ecological slant from service to items are brilliant! Indeed, it reflects the very good reputation Coffee 1 usually has. I am a coffee connaisseur, born in France but who lived also in Southern California and New York/Long Island for a total of twelve years, where cofee drinkers ask the best service/quality: coffee 1 is of that level! Merci.

Monday 10th September was early for eye test in Specsavers, just around the corner, so popped in here for a coffee till it was my appointment time.

First impressions were really good, a reasonably priced extensive coffee menu and delicious looking pastries, but scratch below the surface and your confronted with dirty grimy tables and food over the floor.

We stopped off for coffee. I had the chai tea which was delicious. Lovely cafe with bookshelves and cosy tables and chairs. Child friendly. Very friendly and hard working staff.

When I am shopping in Honiton we always call in here for a coffee. It is dog friendly and a lovely place to sit and relax, nice atmosphere. The coffee's great also!!

all nice here, good coffee, not so nice furniture. it feels a bit off the shelf and the sort of furniture you see everywhere. I think it is a chain but there is a nice enough place to enjoy a coffee and chat.

Fab staff and coffee.always love calling by. The place is usually pretty busy and you can see why when you taste the coffee and confectionery.

Most coffee shops can be scruffy and unclean, but this was sparkling. All the chairs and tables were clean, there was no used crockery out and therefore a choice of places to sit. Coffee was great as usual, a pleasure to stop and relax at.

I popped in here today for the first time and enjoyed an excellent turmeric latte with ginger, It was just right, not too hot and certainly a flavour I hadn't tried before. The Cappuchino cake was also good. Staff were helpful, efficient, the atmosphere was good with comfortable seats inside and out right on the High Street, the prices were very reasonable.

Nice coffee with pleasant service staff at the counter. Quaint decor with a mish mash of chairs and tables, comfortable sofas also. Lots of room inside.

There is an excellent variety of food and yummy deserts. The staff were very friendly. I loved the ambiance of the place which was cozy and fun. If I lived in Honiton, I would be a regular at this cafe.

I visit the coffee shop on average about once a week and it is a really strange place - sometimes you can't fault it and the service is excellent and other times it's absolutely terrible. Some of the staff are incredibly friendly and really kind and others barely speak to you, get the order wrong and then try to blame you for when they have done so in a way that is totally unprofessional. There is a good variety of drinks available, but service can be a bit hit and miss. The tables are often untidy and you often have to clear a table before you sit on it. There is however interesting alcoves and its nice to be able to sit outside in the summer and watch the people go by.

Good location, great products, but a bit too slow during peak time.

During our visit on saturday, me and my friend were waiting in the queue and saw one of the woman making coffees pick her nose wipe it on her apron and continue making coffees without washing herself, this was disgusting and when we bought it up to her she completely ignored us. Most tables were full of empty cups and dirty plates and we had to clear them ourselves in order to sit down, nevermind the fact that when i was eating my ciabatta i found 2 seperate fairly long hairs in it. i understand it was slightly busy but there is no excuse for this.

We go here regularly. The staff are efficient and friendly. The house Americano and Darjeeling tea are consistently good. We love the chocolate crunch and polenta cake.

We popped in for a quick lunch this week, not great. We had the flatbreads, which were dry and not well filled. It was extremely cold in the coffee shop, not great on a cold day. Not impressed.

Usually Coffee one is good but again, too much queuing here and also not enough toilets for the amount of people. The staff was all right but if organisation and one more toilet comes up later on, then it will be as good as the Exeter one.

Wet day in Honiton but this place was heaving so we joined the masses.Superb in every respect,service,polite staff massive tea cakes and Emily really brilliant.

I really like the quirky decor and the ambience of this coffee shop. The coffee is great and the pastries and cakes delicious. I would only say the cakes are a bit expensive. I would have rated them higher but I found the toilet facilities somewhat lacking, with only one loo which is accessed straight off the main area and a flimsy plastic toilet seat and a broken flush.

It is market day and the staff are going flat out. Decor and atmosphere are fab. Unfortunately my hot chocolate was barely warm and my ham and cheese croissant is cold in the middle despite looking burnt out the outside.

At last some decent competition to Costa, Starbucks and Nero. Apparently Brains the Welsh brewery have decided there is more money in coffee

My husband rants and raves about coffee ones where ever we go, but I always find there coffee is Luke warm? I can honestly say Iv never had a hot cup of coffee at one of these chains.

By far this is the best coffee house in Honiton, the flat white is very good indeed, the coffee beans they use give a great all round coffee flavour.

I always try to support local businesses, but I think Coffee #1 has outgrown its local business status. I've been a few branches in Wells and Exeter and enjoyed it, but was disappointed by the quality of the Victoria sponge this time. Definitely looked like a bath sponge and tasted awful! I returned it to the counter and it was replaced with 'anything of my choice'. I had a toasted tea cake which was fine. The Darjeeling tea was lovely.

Good coffee in a pleasant and relaxing environment, located in the centre of the High Street. A range of cakes is also available, Wi-Fi is promised but nor available yet.

Just been asked (very loudly) to leave because we have our (perfectly well behaved) dogs with us. Will now go to Costa instead; much friendlier. We won't come back to Coffee#1 after this.

Monday afternoon 11th December we were in Honiton and visited Coffee 1 for the first time.

Public car park nearby . For bus travellers the stop is almost outside the cafe . Same open style as other Cafe 1, maybe there should be shelving full of books to cushion the rather echoey sound when cafe not full . Very friendly staff , good coffee and , delicious cakes .

Enjoyed a decent decaff. coffee here. And it made a pleasant change from the national chains which dominate High streets. Friendly staff too!

Good choices, good staff hospitality, welcoming and seating is well placed and clean . Lunches good choice on offer and ideal for families as well

Very slow service: 15 minute wait from paying for two drinks and one cake until they arrived. And when the paid-for items did eventually materialize, there were three drinks!

We really loved this cafe, it has been beautifully renovated and the coffee is absolutely wonderful, just as I like it and I'm very fussy about my coffee!! The young lady on the till was lovely, and the two male staff seemed really nice. Thing is, when we go out we like to sit and enjoy the time quietly chatting away in a relaxed atmosphere, what we don't like is to have to talk loudly to each other to be heard over the huge clatter of crockery and cutlery in the kitchen area! This is where the only problem lies and I can't think of a way around it, but huge mistake putting a small enclosed area like this open to the cafe, we were really put off by this, sorry!! We will be back though as the coffee was so good.

Went there on Halloween and it was nice. The staff were friendly and all dressed up. I had a mint mocha which I thoroughly enjoyed, and a chocolate fudge brownie. Very delicious. Very nice place to go on a cold winters morning. Or any morning to be honest. Good stuff!

Loving this place for excellent blend of decaf coffee. Many places have low quality weak decaf but they certainly don't skimp on the quality at coffee #1.
