Coffee#1 in Wiltshire

Popped in and ordered myself a white Americano to take out, which unfortunately proved to be absolutely tasteless, just like drinking hot, milky water. Recent reviews would suggest I have been unfortunate, but I won't be back.

I popped in for my usual Thursday lunch, a smooth, skinny, regular latte and a sausage bap with brown sauce (a change from the usual tomato sauce!) and salted caramel slice. All very tasty and hit the spot!

I visit this coffee shop, very often, staff are always polite, smiling, and make conversation with as many customers as possible! The shop is very cosy and has a lovely atmosphere, the staff are very fast at their jobs, even the younger ones. I was very surprised to find out they hired under 18s, as far as I’m aware, there is only a few in the shop, but they are very mature and polite! I have had nothing but pleasant experiences there. Ever since they hired a new manager, the store has improved massively, so I’d like to thank the whole team, especially Tuesdays and Wednesdays teams as that’s when I frequently come in, thank you for a lovely coffees, perfect cakes and wonderful customer service :-)

The place has recently got a new manager and seems a lot more organised. Service is quicker, and the atmosphere is a lot better. Customer service is excellent, and the staff is lovely, they are dog friendly too which is great. The only thing is they seem not to not have a lot of space. Definitely worth a visit if you are around !

We’re fans of coffee number 1 chain. But this one is not the best. The toilets are poor and the atmosphere isn’t great.

My wife and I came into the cafe after the memorial service for a quick drink and some lunch. We waited about 30 mins to be served despite having 4 people behind the counter, they didn’t speak a word to each other which shows why the service was so bad as there was no communication. We ordered two cappuccino’s and the coffees were burnt so we left them as they tasted very bitter. Food was satisfactory with burnt undersides of the panini. Definitely wouldn’t come back here again.

Members of staff extremely rude. One member of staff in particular charged my Mum for the premium coffee which she didn’t ask for and then overcharged her for porridge. The amount it cost was stated on the board so when my Mum questioned why she’d been charged more he said the prices had gone up overnight. He had to then call a boss and ask what’s happened and she said price had gone up overnight……. Hmmmmm? God knows what was going on. Very unorganised. Wouldn’t recommend coming here as members of staff are rude and confrontational. Luckily a man who was stood behind my Mum in the queue told the member of staff to think about the way he was talking to my Mum as it wasn’t very good. He had a stinking, argumentative attitude. You’ve lost a regular customer now as we won’t be coming back.

I visit this establishment frequently. But I've started taking my dad and he's old but loves the smell of coffee, the staff are so polite, plenty of seating and several loos. Today being the 1rst I pointed out that it was the only coffee shop not to honour my birthday with a bit of cake. I mentioned it. And the assistant manager offered me a cake, tart, pie of my choice. I don't eat any lol. So I got an egg tart for my dad. We had ordered paninis and coffees as well. It's the best coffee out of the top 4 cafes. The only issue is they keep running out of there delightful teacakes.

Myself, my daughter and my mum had a fantastic coffee, lunch and service. The food was lovely and the food was delicious. The service was so friendly, can’t wait to go back The free coffee compost was a lovely touch, my mum was very excited about this 😊

Stopped for light snack lunchtime. Drinks sat on the counter for an age had to ask for them to be brought over. Both snacks - panini and wrap arrived ages later without salad. Asked for salad to be told they don't come with it. Cold cabinet labels said they do so another staff member said they'd run out of salad!!! Headless chickens came to mind as we watched plenty of staff trying to find tables to deliver food. Numbered spoons for orders left lying flat on drinks tray or tables so not visible. They need a staff training day to address these issues. Shame as other branches we've visited run like clockwork.

We called down to coffee#1, as we have not been in there. It was busy but the staff were very good and served us quickly. The decor was as you would expect in a high street coffee shop. the shop was deceptive, in as much as it had seating out the back wich was a pleasant surprise so worth venturing in.

My first visit to any of this chain of coffee shops. Impressed with the decor and cleanliness. Order at the counter, snacks and coffee brought to your table. Great hot chocolate although not very warm. Good coffee...warmer! Savoury rolls, panini etc. Lovely selection of cakes and cookies. Worth a visit

Had a few coffees in coffee#1 over a few days. Always a good cup of coffee and one of the best cups of decaf I have had in a coffee shop. Also as I was on crutches during my visits, staff always offered to bring coffee to table. Very helpful.

Always friendly and helpful. Place clean and always busy which tells a story. Great range of drinks both hot and cold available.

I went here with my gran while I was up visiting. We both had decaf lattes and you can’t help admiring the lovely decor: books lining the shelves, painted pictures and little informative squares dotted around telling you the history of Chippenham. The coffee was good if a little strong, dog friendly and a really homely feel that makes you feel comfortable and cozy.

Centrally located in the main street, good coffee, a surprising amount of space inside, and nice surroundings. Took a while to be served though, and only one loo.

Our son visits Chippenham several times in summer while attending a local school.He was a frequent customer of Patisserie Valerie, for a cup of tea. Unfortunately that place is now closed and he was looking for a substitute.After some tries, he finally landed here.Very pleased it is the right cafeteria for him, the best in Chippenham accordig to his opinion. Good leaf tea and cake.They have a new customer now!

Its a coffee shop. It does what it says on the door. I liked it better than Costa and was cheaper. I would go there again.

Although I live in Chippenham it’s the first time I’ve been here and it won’t be the last. A huge range of drinks and fabulous cakes. The best coffee shop I’ve ever been in.

I used to be a regular at a nearby cafe but since being recommended by a friend, I've found the coffee made here is amazing quality. Along with the friendly staff and cleanliness (no offense other rival coffee shops but you could take notes here) I think this place is now my number one place to go. Keep up the good work.

I visited the store today and normally visit two or three times a week. Fantastic coffee and helpful, courteous staff. I’ve always found all the staff to be nice but the lady with the blue hair is particularly nice so very surprised by the recent bad review!

This is a lovely cafe! The food and drinks are always delicious and the baristas and friendly and welcoming. Best place for a coffee in Chippenham by miles!

Always pleasant helpful staff and amazing tea cakes, make sure you ask for extra butter .. the coffee is always good ...toilets a little disappointing..

Decided to try coffee #1 instead of the usual “costa” and will now never go back to costa again. The manager Tom was friendly and his product knowledge was superb. The rest of the staff were all pleasant and you can tell the team here works well together. The chairs were comfortable the music not too loud and most importantly for me, it was VERY clean and tidy. Great team great coffee and great experiance. Also allowed by child to change from a cookie to a gingerbread man after we had paid and sat down and that in my book was a lovely gesture that also stopped the inevitable meltdown that was soon to follow! I have a threenager!! Over all I score 11/10 for going the extra mile with my child and making the whole experiance pleasant.

Sunday morning before rememberance parade popped in for a cup of tea very smart but relaxing place never been in before as I don’t go to town that often looks small to begin with but lots of space further back lovely staff very helpfull and nice clean toilets we had mocha and a pot of tea if we had more time I would have had a tea cake they were massive will visit again

Wonderfully friendly place - lemon drizzle cake to die for and fabulous iced latte... even the dog was made welcome and offered a drink (they have a small section that allows dogs, thus keeping the non-dog and dog communities happy).

Visited recently with friends, the staff were really friendly and the drinks we had were equally as great!they have a really good selection of drinks and food too.

Nice coffee and nice pastries. Friendly staff. Coffee shop nice and busy in the middle of the day, which gives it a nice atmosphere. But you can always get a seat

Lovely relax atmosphere inside. Great coffee and other drinks available. Plenty to choice from on the menu. Quick and friendly service.

Been here three or four time since opening. Good drinks menu, nice looking cakes and tidy decor, ruined by very slow service and the number of tables covered with dirty cups and plates. Lady in front of us in the queue ordered cake only to be told she couldn't have any as it was still frozen, Changed her order to find the alternate was still frozen too! Staff are either too few in number, lack adequate training, or both. Save yourself the agro and go eslewhere.

Well, Chippenham is dead but there is life here. One of a handful of cafes open. Quiet time. Tea and latter.

I've been to this cafe several times and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The coffee is superb, a nice choice of drinks, sandwiches, cakes and pastries to satisfy all tastes.

I have tried coffee shops from all over and coffee #1 has the best coffee . They have nice cakes as well and nice atmosphere . Myself and my husband are regulars here

The coffee here is great and is probably the best in town! staff are all ways happy and the shop has a great atmosphere!!! Oh and their cakes are to die for!!!

Entering the shop cheered us up. The staff were welcoming and we had two cortados that were nicely presented. The ambience and general atmosphere was relaxing and we will certainly return when we are again in Chippenham. It was nice to have coffee with a distinctive taste - not the run-of-the mill stuff we get in the big chains.

We visited yesterday - it felt that there were too few staff for a fairly big cafe. Every spare table was covered in dirty plates and the basic necessities such as spoons and stirrers had not been refilled.

Dropped in on a quick visit to Chippenham. Pleasant airy atmosphere. Refreshing not to battle with background music when talking. Good coffee. Good addition to the High Street.

Nice coffee, good range of food, nicely decorated and still new enough to feel clean. Would be nice if the staff smiled... I've been in three times and on all occasions received surly service. On two occasions the toilet was without toilet paper. Come on Coffee #1... this could be a great little coffee shop with a good atmosphere. The Cirencester branch is excellent.

New to chippenham this little cafe is getting better week by week. Thevfoodvis good and the coffee great. Lovely atmosphere all folks able to get in and relax.

Lovely building but the drinks are overpriced. My husband had a cheesecake that was not particularly fresh but still paid £2.90 for it. The staff didn't seem very enthusiastic either. I think whoever runs this cafe needs to make a few basic improvements.

We went here for breakfast and it was perfect.

Great coffee but service was very slow. Inexperienced server on till, followed up by inexperienced barista. Queue was nearly to the door, saw numerous people look in& go elsewhere.

As I said before it's a nice place with a good atmosphere, but and it's a big "but" they seem to struggle to get the food heated up correctly. We often have to send it back as it's still cold in the middle.

We love these cafes, but sadly as we entered we were told that the electronic tills were out of action. So why not put a sign outside or lock the door? We got to the counter to be told they couldn't serve us!

Lovely Coffee in a well appointed and comfortable surroundings, Staff friendly , unfortunately there were a lot of tables not cleared even though it was not busy ,we had to sit in a seat with no view of anything.

Great coffee and tea - tea leaves: no tea bags here. Very nice cakes and sandwiches. Plenty of seating inside and out.

A bit of a shame nice tasting coffee even if it did take 2 tries to make a decaff cappuccino with no sprinkles. The cake was applying it was a chocolate cake but had been left out to dry.

If there's one thing we've got a lot of in Chippenham it's coffee shops.

I used this coffee shop quite a few times now, the staff are good the food is good and the atmosphere is brilliant and most importantly the coffee is superb.
