Good food and coffee, but Christ, the service is lacking. The bloke taking are ordering provided no smile, no warmth, no manners. It literally felt like I was interrupting his rest break. His mannerisms with the two girls working with him wasn’t exactly pleasant and I’d be surprised if they’re working there much longer.

Quality of food and coffee is overall very good, the staff however are probably one of the most unhappy, flustered and miserable bunch that I’ve ever come across, not so much as a please or thank you! It goes a long way and cost nothing to provide a good old bit of customer facing hospitality!

On looking at the comments about the Stratford Coffee # 1 I was surprised to see a few negative ones. Whenever in Stratford this is my Coffee Place of choice. I have always found the coffee good, staff helpful and friendly, but as one contributor stated there are too few staff, which is probably why occasionally tables are in need of clearing. However, unlike Warwick # 1 the establishment is clean and tidy, well maintained and the toilets are not a health hazard.

Quiet. Comfortable and as you expect coffee. However what struck us all was the complete lack of customer interaction by the two male members of staff. I kid you not neither made any conversation at all! No smiles! No pleasantries! Didn’t ask about us, the weather, the price of cheese…. Surly in a customer service job in ‘hospitality’ this is a requirement.

It's become a habit to come here before work for breakfast and a mocha. The staff are always friendly and make coffee very well. The coffee also tastes very premium and has the caffiene kick I need in the mornings. I tend to have a sausage bap as well which may look small at a glance but it can be assured is perfect for mornings. Highly reccomended

Dirty tables at 9.30am . Frosty staff , no customer service skills whatsoever. Ordered toast. Had to chase up after 15mins , obviously been forgotten although quiet time . Then re heated so like cardboard . Would recommend Costa opposite!!!

Great coffee, wonderful staff who are overworked. Whoever owns this place needs to employ more baristas. You are working them too hard!

As a Colombian I was very happy to discover this place, went back two times, read for a bit and enjoyed the coffee with my husband. Friendly staff and nice facilities in a great location!

I was the only person in the queue but no-one behind the counter. Eventually someone appeared but neither he nor the chap who made the coffee smiled or interacted. Come on guys you are in the hospitality business. It wasn't even that busy. The coffee was nice and I was asked whether I wanted it strong or weak. At least I think that was what he asked.

The site was good and staff were friendly. The shop has lots of comfy seating which was very welcome. The coffee (cappuccino) and food (tuna melt) were not as good as some of their competitors though - the coffee too strong even though I asked for a single shot, and the tuna melt was very light on the cheese which was a shame. It might be that I was just unlucky though, and I would still rate it for the ambiance.

Visited for a coffee during a work break. Only one order in front of me, but was super slow, so gave up. Two people behind the counter, but no sense of customer service. One staff member did put on one blue glove to take out toast - then proceeded to pick up the knife with his gloved hand whilst manually handling the toast with his ungloved hand! Visited the toilet which was disgusting. This was a unisex toilet plus changing room. Urine and muck on the seat rim, sink grimy, floor wet, etc. Not pleasant. I'll go elsewhere for my morning break.

It's so sad. This cafe used to be my favourite in Stratford but since earlier this year, the wait has been hard to believe. I gave up twice on previous trips but had a free voucher so this time waited. There were about 4 people in front of me in the queue and it took just over 30 minutes to get my order taken and get served for one takeaway coffee. None of the orders before me were big or complicated. Staff never smile and look miserable, ignore you persistently and the queue was out the door by the time I left (poor little at the back need to be ready for an hour or more wait). The cafe itself was almost empty. Such a shame it's gone so far downhill but will not be going back.

Food and beverages are lovely, but staff bar 1 lady are awful they are unfriendly, moody and just not nice when you are on a short break you want the place you are holidaying in for the people who serve to be kind and courteous they are not surely when in a customer facing role you need to be people oriented these are not unfortunately due to staff wouldn’t visit this coffee house again or recommend I’d take my business further up the street to brownie box (next to Shakespeare birthplace)where they can’t do enough for you, just have to be honest bern twice to coffee 1 and service isn’t getting any better

Not sure if we got here at the wrong time of day as there was not a lot to choose from to eat. It did seem to take quite a while for the drinks to be made and although the girl making the coffees was told about our slice of cake we had paid for, she brought us the coffees and the cake was still sitting at the back of the counter. Been in better Coffee#1 shops.

We visited on a Sunday 10:30, there were 3 customers infant of me and I had to wait about 15 minutes. Not sure what the problem was, luckily we weren't in a rush, otherwise I would have gone elsewhere. Usual fare, it was ok.....

We stopped here for a quick drink after visiting one of the Shakespeare’s attractions. We sat outside as it was quite busy inside. Lovely in the sunshine. Drinks were reasonable priced . The only issue was the toilets were out of order so all customers had to use the cafe over the road toilets.

I came here yesterday late afternoon with my daughter for a hot chocolate after a hospital visit.We had tried 4 other venues who had all shut early(4.30) as it was January!We we’re trying to support these businesses as all having a rough time if it and especially with latest covid rules imposed on them over Christmas etc .So you would think they would be grateful of any business coming their way ..clearly not the case!Anyway we had 2 hot chocolates which were really nice and cake and sat and enjoyed the cosy laid back atmosphere in the cafe.There clearly was still a need as we counted at least 15 customers in there which according to the other cafes no one wants coffee etc that time of day so shut early especially in January.The young girl serving us was very polite and even though appeared to be on her own serving clearing etc had a cheerful disposition and was somewhere I’d recommend and go back to support.

The staff worked very hard as the queue was out of the door. The staff were excellent keeping a very positive and cheerful service. The coffee was good and as were the cakes.

Stopped in Stratford for a coffee and found this place. Initially, taken aback by the low, gloomy, lighting but persevered as the snacks looked enticing. We had coffee, tea and a couple of hot snacks, drinks were very good and the snacks were excellent – especially the Mushroom & Emmental. Cake choice looked impressive but we resisted. Staff were very friendly and helpful and working hard as there was a steady arrival of customers. There is actually more room inside than at first appears. The ‘atmospheric’ lighting together with dark walls and ceilings makes the inside too dark, especially on an overcast day. You really can see very little until your eyes adjust. They need to lighten the walls/ceiling and/or increase the lighting then it would be 5 stars!

Called here yesterday 31st October 2021 at lunchtime with wife daughter and 4 year old grandson. managed to get a table easily as wasnt too busy. Drinks were ok as was the panninis. disappointing that they had no ordinary toast which is what the grandson wanted. Similar prices to Costas etc. Very clean toilets. Service wasnt bad

I’ve tried dozens of cafes in this town and this is by far my favourite. The team are amazing and so welcoming, the tea is always made just how I like it, including all my little foibles. I love the space both decor and layout of tables and particularly like the comfy sofas at the back. The atmosphere is perfect whether I’m catching up with friends, want a quiet solo hour with a book or even if I’m working - top job to Christina, Laura, Ellie and all the team. Thank you for making it such a special place to be.

We popped in here for some drinks and respite from the blazing sun. There were plenty of seats to choose from and we both appreciated the air-con and great decor. We got one coke and one tea and it was pricey for what it was but that’s just how things are nowadays.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago during a visit to Stratford. Toilets were in a disgusting state and had obviously not been cleaned regularly. This was brought to the attention of staff by a customer but nothing was done about it. Will not be using this place again.

Called in for a break from shopping and checking out the local sites. Nice relaxed atmosphere, table service offered and decent value for money. Table was cleaned in front of us.

What an oasis of a place in a busy High Street. The manageress (Stephanie) was super friendly and customer focused and the coffee was the best I’ve had in quite some time. Would defo go again.

The coffee was lovely spoilt by a cake that looked lovely and was actually awful and stale and crumbly yuk that was my Friday treat 😢

I came for having breakfast and I was really happy about the way I was treated . A nice lady called Laura helped me to download the app and gave me a fantastic service. I highly recommend this place to everyone.

The food and drinks were all ok nothing special but the atmosphere from who must be the manager was awful. You could hear her being blunt and rude to her staff I feel awful for the way she talks to such young workers. Not a great experience and won’t be returning.

Popped in during afternoon stroll around Stratford. Delicious lattes, friendly efficient service. Will definitely call again.

Met a friend for coffee and we ended up having some cake as well. Very tasty, too! Staff was very welcoming and friendly and the decor is quirky and fun. Lots of comfy places to sit and you could chat and hear one another.

We only went for coffee with friends but we have noticed before that the lighting is extremely poor, thus this makes it uninviting.

Four of us met in Stratford for coffee on a damp (to say the least) day and visited Coffee#1. We were greeted by the friendly staff. After sitting down I went to order our coffee. Order taken very professionally by a friendly member of the team. The coffee was great thank you and even though we were in the shop for well over an hour there was no pressure on us to leave. Certainly recommend the coffee and the atmosphere. Thank you and we will certainly visit again next time my friends and I visit Stratford.

A pesar de sus mejores esfuerzos, había una cola masiva, así que esperamos media hora para tomar un café. Los dos servidores eran ruidosos, se gritaban entre ellos y no se disculpaban por la espera. Para agregar insulto a la lesión cuando tuvieron tiempo de limpiar los platos y las tazas, hicieron tanto ruido literalmente arrojando platos que ambos niños se despertaron y muchas personas simplemente se fueron.Siendo local, puedo decir honestamente que no volveré aquí. Hay muchas mejores cafeterías más corteses en Stratford. Perdón por dejar una crítica tan negativa.

Paré aquí para tomar un café y fue hermoso. Estaba muy ocupado pero el personal trabajó muy duro y nunca dejó de trabajar. Había muchas mesas para que no tuviera que preocuparse. También tomé un poco del café gratis que tenían para poner en nuestro jardín. Gracias.

Having walked around Stratford on a windy day we were in need of refreshments. It is always difficult, though, with a dog. What a surprise, therefore, to find this place. An amazing choice of drinks and cakes. Anywhere that does white hot chocolate is great in our daughter’s book.

A surprisingly large coffee house, plenty of room for families and business meetings. The staff are wonderful and a menu full of delicious coffees. Be warned, you will not be able to resist the cakes that are on offer!!! Perfect location if you are on a shopping trip, or a quick coffee before a trip to the theatre.

Lovely spacious coffee house very friendly clean and comfortable. Where else can you get a Beetroot Late which is amazing.

We had just got off a coach and were walking into town when we spotted this Coffee shop., What a delight this place is. We only had a coffee to go but the service was great as was the coffee was very nice. It was so good we went back for another coffee later in the afternoon on our way back to the coach. The food looked very tasty and there were plenty in the caffe eating while we queued!

Since coming across this coffee chain on my travels , have always found it to be differrent to the rest , superb coffee , quirky relaxing toned down interiors - this one is no expception .

Deceptively large coffee shop in middle of Stratford offering excellent coffee and choice of 3 gluten free cakes on day of visit. Blackberry crumble slice was excellent. Plenty of free tables comfy chairs and sofas with cushions, quite dark and intimate lighting.

I went in for a coffee today at Coffee 1 Stratford, which serves much better coffee than the American chains like Costa that serve coffee that tastes like dish water and noticed that there was only one person managing the whole story.

Ordered two deluxe hot chocolates with marshmallows and cream. The hot chocolate was made to order and arrived quickly enough but is extremely strong, especially at the bottom and wouldn't advise ordering it without the cream for that reason. Expect to pay Stratford prices but a pleasant enough experience. Be aware, unisex toilets.

Coffee # 1 does the best Americano in Stratford upon avon visited with mum and my dog and had a great coffee. For me it’s all about the quality of the coffee.

We visited on Sunday 22/09. I ordered a coffee for myself, and a hot white chocolate with marshmallows and cream for my son. I asked for a receipt, which I was not given, and when our drinks were given to me, they were in paper cups with plastic lids. I said that I did not request "takeaway", as I could see a row of mugs behind the counter, but I was told "we are only doing paper cups today". As I sat down, I noticed that everyone had paper cups with plastic lids. While my son was having his "white hot chocolate" I noticed that he did not have his marshmallows, nor cream in it. As it was raining, there were a number of customers in, and as the toilet is one that is shared by men and women, and hence there was quite queue for the facilities.

Been going here for ages, staff are always friendly and the coffee is always good, especially after a hard day at the office, you need to relax just like we did.

Nice dark and well air conditioned coffee shop, nice place to get out of the raging sun.

Went to Coffee #1 with friends for tea and cake before visiting Shakespeare’s house. We tried a range of things and enjoyed all of it. Would recommend!

I visit Coffee#1 in Warwick often, so I knew what to expect when I visited the Stratford-upon-Avon branch, although it is always pleasing when my expectations are realised. The latte I had was good, as well as the service I received, and I really liked the character of the place. If you are a fan of Coffee#1, you will not be disappointed if you come here.

Had a few minutes to kill on the way back from Stratford Upon Avon, and popped into Coffee #1 for coffee. Really impressed with the customer service from Phoenix and Laura!

So far all but one of my visits to the Coffee#1 chain have been great. The Stratford branch was up to a good standard. A very nice member of staff offered to bring my order to the table. I enjoyed a good coffee in a pleasant atmosphere.

Quality coffee in ideal location. Just wish I hadn't recently had breakfasts as there was a very tasty array of pastries and cakes. The Portuguese tart in particular was very tempting. lots of comfy seating and added benefit Dogs welcome too.

Called is as positioned nicely on the corner where the street entertainers are, great spot for people watching, outside seating available just outside front door. Table needed a wipe.

The portugese custard tart with an espresso is a firm favourite for me and i was able to have the combination again at this coffee house. Very relaxed nice interior and good staff certainly recommend

We like coffee no 1 and this Stratford outlet was really up to usual very good standard. It was 11am and very busy but plenty of staff to cope with queue

There are so many drink choices (teas, coffees, smoothies, frappes) you will never get bored and they have specials all the time too. Cakes are lovely and there are sandwiches, soups and brunches available. Add in that there is an area where dogs are welcome and lots of space for mummies with buggies or wheelchair users (although the doorway is a bit unusual so you may want to check on wheelchair access) and you really can't go wrong. PS staff all very friendly too.

Really enjoy this coffee shop- Nice Coffee- Best cheesecake and chocolate brownie bar! Nice cozy atmosphere and you can take dogs in if you sit in the middle section!

I was very pleased to find another cafe in Stratford which allows dogs, and even better they have a good selection of food and drinks. I have been mainly on a Sunday morning and the chap that serves there is very friendly and makes you feel welcome.

Dropped in here when we had an hour to kill before a play, and had done enough shopping and ambling around. Not heard of this chain before - will definitely use them again when we see them. Great coffee; a really big place so plenty of places to sit, not as crammed in as you'd get in a Costa or Starbucks. Toilets were spacious and clean, which again you often don't find in the other chains. All round really good.

I love Coffee #1 and this branch is particularly great. With the large quantities of coffee shops in Stratford, I like the drink varieties that Coffee #1 has on offer, especially all their fresh summer drinks. I recommend their fresh orange juice or red berry tea. They have a kids menu and wifi also.

My husband and I love a great cappucino and were sorely disappointed with them whilst visiting England in September and October 2018. The only coffee shops that we REALLY enjoyed the coffee and cakes at was this one. We had coffee's here in Statford-Upon-Avon and in Warwick. Ask for the special blend which was strong and creamy!

I went here with my family for lunch - they’d been before and had a nice coffee. The queue was long and slow moving, with too few staff serving. When I was finally able to order, many of the items we wanted were unavailable, despite there being signs for them at the counter. It was only after another customer complained that the staff removed the signs.

Walking around Shakespeare's birthplace, a friend spotted this coffee shop and said it served great coffee. Saw turmeric latte on the menu, the uniqueness fascinated me, and so it was ordered lol. Other friends had cappucino and coffee latte. The turmeric latte tasted exactly like turmeric, and I know as I mix turmeric in my drinks everyday. Downside, turmeric stains the teeth so gargle or brush right after finishing the drink. Overall, the service is fast and polite, there is also convenient toilet inside the shop, and most of all, the turmeric latte tasted great, wish I also tasted some coffee though...

Went in for coffee and a quick bite. The prepared paninis were good and just what was needed on a chilly November afternoon. Coffee and service were excellent.

This popular coffee shop has great coffee including its own house brand and super cakes. It’s dog, wheelchair and push-chair friendly with informal seating. Perfect position in the centre of Stratford.

The coffee was fantastic. The ambiance in this coffee shop was wonderful but it was the service that stood out. The young man couldn’t do enough to help us. He brought our coffee quickly. He also got water for our dog and gave the little guy a doggie treat. What absolutely wonderful service!

We popped into the coffee#1 in Stratford today for a coffee and lunch we noticed on the window that they are dog friendly which was perfect as we had our dog with us! My flat white was amazing and I had a breakfast burrito which was delicious. The staff were so friendly and even gave our dog water and a treat!!!! Will definitely be returning!

Since coffee#1 opening in Stratford we have made it our regular coffee shop! The coffee is definitely the best in Stratford and the staff are so friendly and always make us feel welcome. They have a great range of cakes and savoury food on offer, also breakfast options like porridge and pancakes!

Good coffee and a varied selection of food (sweet & savoury). Very pleasant interior. They appeared to be dog-friendly too. Very nice service - someone even bothered to ask if we needed gluten free produce.

It's cold and rainy outside. This place is warm, relaxed, with nice staff and good coffee + they have a delicious vegan chocolate cake. Very happy.

Had a lovely experience at Coffee#1 in Statftord. We were looking for somewhere nice to be able to take the dog in as we didn’t want to leave her in the car, and a section of the cafe is dog friendly which is great! It’s a lovely clean and cosy atmosphere, with a great selection of drinks and food, with lots of variety, and amazing vegan friendly options too, which was perfect for us! Service was really good and we couldn’t fault it, they make you feel very welcome! Very friendly and smiley staff. Definitely recommend!

Out of the dozens of different aces you can now get a coffee from in town, coffee #1 is now my go to place. Newly opened so the decor is lovely. Drinks are well priced however like every other coffee shop, food is over priced. The staff are excellent. Friendly and chatty and now remembers my order as I'm a regular. A huge well done!!!!

This cafe beats other high branded coffee shops, staff friendly, polite and cheerful. Coffee lovely and hot, carrot cake was delidiots, although it was a tough decision what to have as the cakes all looked lovely especially the cheesecake, well done coffee#1, you made me smile on a dull day.

I have been here twice since it recently opened and had 2 great visits. It's been really busy both times but staff were efficient and polite. The drinks tasted great and were good value and there is a great atmosphere as well. It looks fairly small and dark from the outside but inside it is big and there is plenty of seating. I will definitely be back!

Went in for the first time when Starbucks closed for a refurb. Great staff, really friendly and seem to enjoy what they do. As someone who buys a cup a day, I like that they remembered my order on only the second day and I days when a new person has been on the till, someone has always lent over and told them what my order was before I've needed to. Coffee give Starbucks a run for it's money so now I have two places to buy my daily coffee.

Spent a couple of days in Stratford and this was the best cafe I came across. Pleasant, prompt service and, in spite of the focus on coffee in the name, they use real tea leaves (bravo!) The cakes weren't cheap but my carrot cake was tasty and there was a good selection. The cafe copies the style of bigger coffee chains (wooden floors, armchairs, shelves of books) but adds some thoughtful vintage touches for a more authentic feel. After being disappointed with other cafes in the town (many of which are tourist traps and use clever ruses to mask pretty mediocre atmosphere and fare), it was a relief to chance upon Coffee#1.
