I called in for a latte and was very impressed. The shop interior has been reworked to give a light and airy atmosphere. Mark, the owners son was busily roasting the beans on the Probat. A friendly chat and a gorgeous coffee. In my experience it's never less than that. A tasty chocolate brownie to go with it. Mark you've excelled. I purchased a stock of the house roast beans to take home . The family all love the coffee.

Popped in for brunch as Desco Lounge over the road was full and after driving past had noticed “lashford sausages” advertised in the window. When we got in there was a table that had been vacated and left with plates, cutlery and cups etc and a jug of milk. Whilst we were walking down we hadn’t seen anyone leaving so not sure how long it had been left. We then moved the stuff to another table and sat on the table that chairs had backs. The stuff remained on that table for a good time after too, to be honest they seem a staff member short. We ordered food and drinks. And when that came over the latte had coffee grounds spilled all up the side and didn’t feel well presented, also the milk wasn’t very smooth, as you’d expect from a latte, sadly I make better ones at home. The pot of tea had no milk and to my surprise the fella just grabbed the pot of milk that we’d moved to the other table… I don’t run a cafe, but I’d assume you give new customers a pot of fresh milk! The biggest disappointment was that having essentially been coaxed in by the “Lashford sausages” sign on the window, and telling my sister how nice they were which convinced her to have a sausage sandwich… they weren’t Lashford sausages. Whether it was a one off or not due to stocking issues, I don’t know, but if you do have an issue like that, notify people when they order. Advertising a premium item and serving a budget item resulted in immediate disappointment. Would really like to support local and whilst it was ok for the money, I won’t be rushing back.

If you want a decent cup of coffee, this is the place to go. Coffee beans freshly ground on the premises and it certainly shows taste wise in what is an excellent cup of coffee. As an added bonus Martyn served me a lovely Lashford sausage sandwich, so what's not to like. I've been visiting The Coffee roaster for many years and the coffee beats the medeocre offerings of local competitors hands down.

13 Nov 21 - I went for breakfast here about 7 years ago and I’ve been hankering for one since. Had another one today and oh. my. lord. best brekkie I’ve had in months, maybe years. Bacon - Elite level, dry cured and crispy fatty bit. Sausages - Long, fat and scrumptious 😉 Eggs - Two and fried to perfection, yolk so gloopy it can be dipped and enjoyed. Hash Brown - My only grumble would be I could have had a second HOWEVER the one provided was a big fella so 👍 Beans - Heinz Shrooms - Fried properly and not slimy Coffee - Again, A1 Elite. The couple that run the place know their shiz and we had an Americano that tasted amazing and looked liked an ancient Japanese painting of mountains and a white coffee that made me buy a sack of beans on the way out. I placed a phone order today and have to say that I couldn’t be happier with the service received. The owner was very knowledgeable about the coffee they sell and gave suggestions for usage, storage and alternative blends to try. This service was then topped by receiving same day delivery, in which the owner cycled to my home to drop the freshly roasted coffee off. I could not wish for better service, and a lovely guy to top it all off.

I've roasted & brewed my own coffee for years. Lived oversees for 17 year, recently returned home to UK and this is my local coffee bean supplier. Too many "Artisan" coffee roasters charging way over-the-top for their beans. Here you find value. This is a seriously established roaster of some 30 years - long before the coffee boom. Excellent, fresh roasted beans & blends. Their Italian blend is not just a muscular flavour-bomb, it has blown my socks off every morning! If you live in the area, don't bother paying silly money for bohemian, hipster-roasted beans - come here for the real thing & real value.

I went to this place trying to support a local independent but it was a horrible experience. NEVER AGAIN!! The owner was smelly, uninterested and had a big beard. It looked like a dilapidated coffee shop from the 1960s and the food was so greasy it should have come with a government health warning. The coffee was weak and tastless. A week after I had breakfast here I was admitted to hospital with the coronavirus. I am convinced I got it from this place because of the dirt, smell and overall lack of basic hygiene. Thank God for the NHS and the wonderful staff. I was so disappointed that I couldn't finish my plate of grease and I had to leave. If you are looking for something to eat, I recommend the Wetherspoons across the road, better value, better food and you can actually pay with card.

First and last time in. Will not be returning. Staff are friendly however food was disgusting. Too greasy and over priced. Spent almost £10 and left hungry and feeling sick due to the food dripping with grease. Plate was soaking wet. Place needs a massive refurb and maybe a good clean. Understand it’s independent but the cafe looks like a charity shop. It’s depressing, no music, no customers not even a card machine, and the staff around and look very bored. Always seems to be empty and now I understand why. Not sure how it’s survived all these years. Won’t be open by 2020

I work close to Shirley so I have been to many cafes around the area. At first I was reluctant to come as it didn't look like my cup of tea from the outside. Don't judge a book by its cover! There is free parking for customers in the rear which is convenient. As you walk in it has a traditional/antique style which works very well. I tried the Jacket potato and it was freshly made and tasted delicious. The tuna was fresh out of the tin instead of pre mixed with mayo which gave me the option to have it without mayo as I'm trying to be healthier. The tomato, mushroom and onion omelette I have tried today was great and was made differently compared to other places with the toppings cooked separately from the omelette and placed in the centre of the folded omelette. You can tell they take pride in preparing food. They have this amazing traditional coffee filter machine (not sure of the name) that I've never seen before and you can tell they know what they're doing when I comes to making fresh coffee. Yet to try most things on the menu but the service and quality of food I have received so far is brilliant Overall brilliant food, coffee and customer service!

Proper authentic roastery. Loads of choice of bean, roasted on the premises and ground to your preference. The slightly gaudy facade hides a traditional vintage counter and the on-site roasting machine. If you prefer the plastic lifestyle coffee chains you might not get it. But if you're into authentic coffee, if it's about the flavour and the kick, seek it out. There are few places in the midlands where you can go to get fresh coffee beans / grind. Quirky and refreshingly free from corporate influence. I took away 500g each of Costa Rica and their own three bean blend.

We stumbled across this place by accident, glad we did because it was an unusual experience: Coffee - this was brilliant, if a little on the small side. I think it should be in larger mugs. Food - we just had jam on toast, it can was okay, nothing special. Staff - the Oriental lady is wonderful; polite, attentive and always smiling. The English guy was clearly having problems with his credit card and was in the shop shouting down the phone. It was a bit unprofessional. He was also quite intense! Whilst waiting for my coffee, I took some pictures of the teapots inside, he came up behind me with a demanding "Can I help you?" Location - it's a bit naff for the business because you wouldn't normally stumble across it, but this is what gives it some of the charm. Decor and interior - I'm not sure what to make it this? You'll need to judge it got yourself. We'll be going back again in a few weeks to experience the place again.

We visited for our works crimbo do. This year ran a lot better than last year. The only criticism that our party had was that there wasn't anywhere to sit and enjoy a post christmas meal drink. We were told seating was available outside, but unfortunately, it was on the Saturday that storm darragh had hit the UK. We took our custom elsewhere and spent the next few hours drinking copious amounts of cocktails - this money should have gone into your tills.
