Coffee Island in City of London, Westminster

Coffee is nice here but unfortunately the staff are a problem. I've been here twice now because of a recommendation from a friend from Greece but we were both let down by the rude and childish staff. Both times I ordered coffee and both times staff just didn't seem bothered and preferred to have gossip or conversations amongst themselves complaining about other people so my orders took a lot longer than they should. I've seen reviews here about potentially racist staff (I'm asian myself) and I certainly have felt some veiled prejudice aimed towards me here but generally I feel they treat most customers with disdain including my Greek friend. Sadly I won't be returning unless the staff attitude improves, clearly more training is needed.

Worst Experience. Poor behaviour.staff are not friendly. They are not polite. I came there and order coffee but they don’t even look at me.i think i am asian and thats why they ignor me. Its seems me very rude. These is not fair, always mind it first i am a customer. I never go there again.

Disappointing luke warm coffee served. Slow service that could have been speeded up by using a bigger vessel rather small individual jug. Come on - you can do better! Cappuccino had more froth than liquid. If want a retro experience from the days of the USSR - this is the place to go.

The staff could not have been less interested. They had a gossip about another staff member in front of customers and were entirely unpleasant. AVOID

Its good to have coffee island in London. Coming from Greece and see the chain being London, however the service is a bid dull. Looks like the staff not really enjoying working there.

One of those businesses where it is all about them and not about the customer, the customer's needs or the environment. They only take cash (clearly don't trust their staff and are happy for the banks to have two percent of every transaction) and they seem to serve everything in take out cups. To make it even worse the cup actually says on it plastic in product'. The coffee was nice enough, and they do at least allow people to smoke outside (I'm not a smoker but I believe in people having freedom).

I ordered freedo cappuccino with the cream on the top.Instead I got a coffee with a sluppy top.(i had same one last week and it was perfect) When I said is a matter of beating the cream to stiff peaks, they said even they make another it will be the same. They offer a refund.But refund can't make it up when all you want is a decent coffee.

The decaf coffee I had truly tasted lovely but the staff sadly didn’t seem to care that my coffee had been served lukewarm. When I broached it with them, I was told that I should have asked for it to be made ‘extra hot’ at the point of order and the temperature was correct for a ‘hot’ coffee. I give one extra star, as it’s not always easy to find good decaffeinated coffee.

Coffee was bitter and served in take away paper cups and expensive. Will not go there again. Would not recommend it.

Had the best toasted Tuna/cheese pannini I think I have ever had accompanied by the best latte coffee. Subjective I know, but it was really really nice. Well recommend

I was served with 1 shot stale lukewarm flat white for £3.60 really? It wasn’t even busy it was just me and my friend came in.

I was very happy with the cakes, coffees and hot chocolate we had from this cafeteria. Unfortunately, I have to mention that my 10 year old son needed to use the bathroom. He was not allowed as I was told that they had a problem with the drain. Notice near bathrooms was just that floor was wet (pic above). This happened 30mins before closure.

Called in before going to the theatre 🎭. Server was friendly and polite. Coffees were lovely and much needed having done a lot of walking

Staff were great and poured a fine cup of coffee. Even better than that, the spanakopita was fantastic. It’s also a big space so you are more likely to get your coffee quickly and find a seat.

Moody & unfriendly Coffee was fine! But…. Shame on the gentleman behind the counter, moody and unfriendly. From the moment he took our orders to picking up our coffee...Rather churlish! *Bare in mind, the outside seatings stinks, tables are wobbly & in poor shape. In this challenging economy, businesses should value their patrons, not driving them away. God bless

I always like trying different coffee shops rather than the chain stores. Although this looks very touristy, it was nice! The black americano was very good. Service was pleasant, staff were friendly and despite being busy they did well to keep on top of orders....

Flat white only £3 and the cinnamon cake and brownies tasted homemade and extra delicious. My daughter said! Recommend. You can buy some coffee beans to take and you can choose many types to drink in too but I had the house blend.

I love the varieties of coffee available at the Coffee Island. Besides the Espresso, they also make great iced coffee suitable for summertime. Their matcha drinks are also delicious with good quality green tea used to make them.

Came across Coffee Island while traveling in Greece, they are all over the place. So nice to have a decent Coffee chain, better than the likes of Starbucks and Costa. Hope more open in the UK soon.

Excellent cafe for a quick breakfast. The coffee was particularly good. I had granola, fruit and yogurt which was great, and the sandwiches and pastries looked good too.

Chic and mellow. Decent cappuccino and helpful staff. Perfect place to hang out before heading to the next BFI screening.

Cafe has an open, spacious, airy feel. Good starting point if you've come up from Leicester Sq tube prior to hitting the National Gallery as we did. Very efficient service as you order at one register and pick up at the end of rhe bench....
