Booked afternoon tea, food was average, quite basic, disappointing scones quite obviously not made on the day, also we were never asked if we wanted more drinks which would have been nice to be offered. The venue is in a lovely setting beautiful views , but the cafe smells of fried food I understand you do lots of different meals but greasy smell spoils it perhaps an extraction fan issue . It's just all a little basic.

we arrived at 10.05 and were told there was a little wait, that’s fine as we we’re expecting a wait as the food is freshly cooked. We went to sit a a table to be told very sharply by a member of staff that “you can’t sit here, I’m writing up the board”…. Attitude was awful. So we sat at the next table and the lady then said “wouldn’t the other one be better for you “…. We had a chat and decided that we would not leave as we’d travelled a way and was looking forward to our breakfast. We waited about 25 mins, the very pleasant waitress came to take our order. Three of us ordered omelette , the other a fisherman’s breakfast. The drinks came and then about 10 after the fisherman’s breakfast with 2 of the Omelettes . I was told mine would be a minute because they didn’t have a pan to do three in one go. The rest of the party started their breakfast and just as well because 10 mins+ my omelette arrived . By which time two had finished their Breakfast and the other almost. I didn’t realised it took so long to make an omelette, especially when others in the party had their food and almost eaten it. I don’t like beans but no alternative was offered. It was delicious but I had to rush because we had to go. Also when asked if they had a proper coffee machine we were told they couldn’t have one because it takes too long to make, so instead you get half a cup Of just “ok” coffee. So after all the years we’ve been going there, our visits have come to an end . Very rude grumpy lady, apart from the pleasant lady who served the food .. not worth the money !

I have visited this cafe/restaurant on several occasions with friends and family. The service is excellent - very professional and yet warm and friendly. The food is superb. It is a basic menu (as I like) - the food is excellent in quality and taste with huge portions. The view from all the tables is spectacular - one looks down to the lakes and green fields beyond. I love eating here and shall be visiting on many return trips. Highly recommended.

100% genuine customer. Date of visit 03/06/23. Been on the look out for an excellent breakfast since moving to the Telford region 8 years ago. Found it today. Forget all the cafes supermarket eats in Telford from Wellington to stafford I’ve been on the search. Not your cheap run of the mill cash and carry food but delicious quality bacon and sausages. I did not book just went in as học on a Saturday morning and maybe booking is advisable on a weekend or summer months. Full breakfast with tea cost me £10 and it was worth every penny with other lower cost full breakfast options available. I went for the Large but a small was as cheap as anywhere else but the quality worth every penny. View is an added bonus staff polite and attentive. look anyone who reads this just go you won’t be disappointed .

We held our daughter’s baby shower here yesterday. What a beautiful spot, the lakes and scenery from the conservatory area alone make it well worth a visit. We had afternoon tea which came with the option of Prosecco. We were able to customise in advance what we wanted on our sandwiches. The cakes were delicious and the scones were even better!! Even the gluten free menu was given the same amount of detail. I would highly recommend a visit here, the food was great and so were the staff!! Five stars from us all, thank you Lucinda and girls xx

Called in mid-way through our circular walk from Norbury Junction and we were blown away by the service, food and price. Fantastic menu choice, plenty to choose from. The chips that came with my meal were really good - so often places serve up cheap 'cardboard' chips, dry and tasteless - but not here, they were delicious. Also, the cup of tea was perfect - again, places frequently serve up inferior tea, cheap and nasty and as weak as coloured water, however here, it was lovely tea with some strength about it. And the two ladies who served us were so nice - friendly, down to earth , informative and enthusiastic. And we were pleasantly surprised with the price we paid at the end of our meal, taking all the above into account. Would certainly recommend anybody to go. Like Lesley B said, you won't regret it. Thank you Tickled Trout.

Lovely mains, inflexible ice cream. We had another lovely lunch outside at the Tickled Trout. Nice coffee as well. I was really looking forward to the apple and blackberry crumble, but it was not to be.My wife doesn't really do desserts but fancied a small ice cream. 3 scoops for £3.95 said the menu. When asked if we could have just 1 scoop, I was informed they only do 3 scoups. Eventually they said I could have one scoop but the price stays at £3.95. Eventually after various protestations I ordered 3 scoops plus an extra bowl and spoon and missed out on the crumble. What a shame, I paid for one dessert but they had the washing up for two desserts and missed out on an extra £2 to £2.50 for one scoup of ice cream. So beware if you have a small child or someone with a small appetite, that fancies a small ice cream. It's going to cost you £3.95 no matter how many scoops you have.

My appetite diminished as soon as my ham sandwich lunch arrived after a long wait. It was supermarket-style reformed meat in supermarket-style sliced bread. I returned it to the kitchen. I was not offered a replacement lunch. I left hungry but was still asked to pay for my cup of tea and my guest’s lunch. We also noticed cheap deep fried sausages on other diners breakfast plates It appears profits, in this establishment, are more important to the owner than customer enjoyment. Such a shame as the lakeside location is idyllic

This is a nice cafe in a delightful setting overlooking the trout lake. The staff are welcoming and friendly and go out of their way to assist. Our experience on this visit was that the main meals fell well short of expectation. Things started badly with the smell of old cooking oil permeating the entrance when we arrived - almost always an indicator of worse things to come...Meals. Luxury fish pie was served looking like a white house-brick surrounded by green sludge accompanied by 'straight-from-the-freezer', crinkle cut, mixed vegetables. The fish (what little I could find) was overcooked to be completely dry. In short awful and I left 75% of it. Beef lasagna was bland and consisted of mainly pasta sheets and very little meat. There was no Béchamel whatsoever. Mushroom stroganoff was the best of the three meals but again lacked any depth of flavour. Puddings. Apple and sultana crumble made with home grown apples and served with custard was really lovely. Both the lemon and the raspberry/coconut tarts were in fact sponge cakes with a thin pastry base. A 4" tall, fluffy centred cake is not a tart in my book. Accompanying ice cream was rather nice. Tea was tasty and well served. Under normal circumstances I would have returned the main meals and opted to eat elsewhere but this was a day out with my wheelchair bound Mother who had specifically requested we visit and so I was required to bite my tongue. It seems that they can handle the tea and scones side of things but main meals are not their fortè. Beware.

We've driven past many times but never stopped. Given the sun was out, it was lunchtime and we were passing once again we had a last minute decision to try out The Coffee Up. The car park was busy which is generally a good sign! There were plenty of people sat inside but thankfully for us the lovely table and chairs under the (open top) gazebo were empty. It was the obvious choice, for us, to enjoy both the surroundings and the lovely weather. Despite being lunchtime we had the Fisherman's breakfast (minus the egg) which was great. Good sized portion - not too large or too small. Would happily have again. There seemed to be a good range of options on the menu - salad to cottage pie with breakfast in between! Not to mention the selection of homemade cakes... Certainly worth a visit, especially when the sun is out. There is a Farm Shop and Deli opening at the end of the year, so another reason to visit.

We all chose off the specials board. My husband had the fish pie and my son had the cottage pie. The portions were huge and there were lots of vegetables. The cottage pie was tasty but the fish pie was a bit bland. I had chicken Caesar salad, which was nicely presented and had a reasonable amount of chicken. It was quite a long wait for the food to come - about half an hour. We probably wouldn't rush back here for lunch but there looked to be a good selection of cakes/scones etc so I would definitely come back for afternoon tea as it is such a lovely setting. Service was pleasant & friendly too. If I could rate it 3.5 I would.

Called in here for the first time today and it really is ideally placed, with a lovely view of the fishery, green grass, and countryside.Went to order our drinks from the counter as we walked in and was told it was a table service, great, menu delivered and drinks ordered, with time to look at the menu and decide what i was going to have for lunch.Chilli Con Carn with Rice and Tortilla Chips, with a side of Garlic Bread. The coffee arrives and its an oh dear, the taste was well not good but the aroma was lovely? the taste was tainted by the water i'm sure, don't get me wrong the water is clean, most likely fed off old lead pipes, which taints the water and spoils the coffee. The Chilli Con Carn arrived, a wonderfully set out plate with a dome of rice tortilla chips and a bowl of chilli, and on a separate plate the side of garlic bread. From the first forkful to the last scrape of the plate it lovely, rice perfectly cooked, the chilli perfectly spiced, and the tortilla chips complemented the dish well adding a bit of crunch, the garlic bread was seasoned both sides and was golden.A great tasting lunch that more than filled the gap.The service couldn't fault it, really pleasant staff, which encourages me to say, despite the coffee, i'd go again, next time i'm passing by.

We live local in Newport and go regularly for coffee or Lunch. There are not many places you can keep returning to and the food and service is always excellent. A friendly welcome awaits you every time. In the winter the log burning stove is cosy. The specials boards are changed regularly. Cakes and desserts are delicious. A lovely place to take people to as the view over the lake is lovely. On hot day's there is a lovely outdoor area to sit and enjoy the weather and views. The Lasagne and Quiches can be recommended. The Breakfasts are highly recommended. It is all home cooked delicious food.

After passing them several times enroute to visiting family in Stafford we decided to try lunch. It was lovely, a choice of eating inside, in the conservatory or outside, all with lakeside location. The menu had a great selection of snacks plus daily specials including king prawns with chilli & garlic, stilton & leek quiche and peppered mackerel. No burgers or chips - making a pleasant change! Lovely dessert selections and smiley happy staff. Service was fast and efficient mixed clientele included cyclists, fishermen, elderly couples & families. £24 for 2 meals, 3 drinks, 2 large delicious cakes. Shame it wasn't licensed as a wine would have been lovely. Would go again.

Not been here before but passed it many times so we thought we would give it a try. We sat in the conservatory and spoke to a couple on the next table to ask them how you ordered having not been before, they told us that they come and take your order so we just sat there. After ten mins or so no one came to take the order so I went to the counter to find out why and the lady told me that they had been very busy and apologised for the delay. I ordered the chilli and the other half the cottage pie which we did'nt have to wait long for. Both meal's were very good and enjoyable. The Coffee Cup has a reasonable menu with pie, fish dishes salad's, all day breakfast, sandwiches and more and all at very reasonable price's so we enjoyed the visit. Apology excepted for the delay and we will call in again soon.

The Coffee Cup is a lovely little cafe, complete with conservatory and outside seating, set in beautiful grounds overlooking fishing lakes. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and the food is wholesome and well-presented. It can get a bit warm in the conservatory but this isn't too much of a problem as there is other inside seating as well as the option to move into the garden area or even a small pagoda. It's ideal for a light lunch and is a remarkably relaxing place to while away an hour or two - summer in a sunny conservatory or winter with the snug log-burner ... lovely.

Thought we would try this place as its only about 30 miles from home so glad we did as the staff are super friendly although not so that they bother you, caravan pitches for caravan club members are great nice and private with superb views over the fishing lakes and fields, they are far enough away from the cafe to not be disturbed. The coffee cup cafe serves the most delightful food with fresh produce and meat from a local butcher, the food is also made and cooked on site. The fishing is well managed by Pete (a true gent) its difficult at times and challenging but thats what gives it its appeal.

So i drove past this place today and decided to pop in for a quick cup of tea to break up a long drive. Parking up with plenty of space and a clear entrance, i was greeted by a smile of the very friendly staff. The cafe had a fire going and it was lovely in warm inside despite the cold rain out. I only popped in for a quick pot of tea but seeing the food available and at such good prices, it was very hard to resist. The food looked amazing! It's safe to say i shall be popping back, but this time with time to eat and time to stare out across the picturesque lakes. Would recommend this place! Pop in!

When we're in England we usually choose traditional English food in cafes and restaurants and nothing fits the bill better than an all-day breakfast! They serve a really good one at Loynton Lakes and all being well we'll be back.

Used Caravan Club CL at Lotnton Fisheries and dined in their Coffee Cup Cafe. Excellent reception by all concerned and everyone was s delight. CL was good with great views of the lakes which were wonderfully stocked. Great fishing and lots of big ones too. The food in the cafe was fresh and tasty and beautifully clean, as were site toilets.Whether just a tea and cakes or caravan fishing expedition this place takes some beating...I will be back

Visited here in February for breakfast and liked it here and so decided to visit again. However our second trip was bitterly disappointing. The girl who took our order was hopeless. We order 2 cream teas one with coffee and one with tea, a mocha and a slice of cheesecake. When asked if it was home made cheesecake the girl answered yes. When our order came it turned out the girl had messed up. We received one cream tea with coffee and a GREEN tea. Additionally the cheesecake was very evidently shop bought and for one slice cost more than it would to have bought the whole cheesecake in somewhere such as tesco!! When we went to pay we explained what had happened it was simply laughed off with no apologies. Will not come again after our experience.

We have visited this café many times because it is so good! We have never been disappointed. Today was no exception. We had lunch, I enjoyed a Feta & filo pie with roasted potatoes & the most enormous salad. The pie was delicious & salad was outstanding comprising of coleslaw, rice salad, & green salad which was packed with a variety of salad veg. Such were the portions that I had to admit defeat, proudly carrying home a major part of the pie! This I will enjoy later when there is room in my tum for more! Highly recommend this café & enjoy the views over the lake.

There is a good car park and colourful shrubs at the entrance. The cafe is not far off the main road from Newport to Eccleshall. You can still hear the traffic in the carpark, There is quite a steep step into the cafe, Once inside you are in another world,Double glazing means the traffic is far from your thoughts as you gaze at fields and lakes. A wood buring stove and a wooden contruction give a homely appeal. Open from 9 am to 5 pm every day of the week. Breakfast is available all day and home cooked meals, Last order for hot meals at 4 pm.Staff are friendly and the food home - cooked.Quite a variety of meals offered to suit all tastes. We had hot chocolate and a scone packed with fruit and a millionaire shortcake - all delicious,We plan to go again to try the meals.

Off to Cornwall in a week or so and decided to get some training in by having a cream tea. Found the advert for this place in the local freebie newspaper. It's just ten minutes drive away from us and I'm sorry we haven't been before. Cream tea was amazing and I doubt they could get any more fruit in those scones. Sat outside on the terrace overlooking the fishing lakes and it was peaceful with lovely views and a bit of bird song. We'll be back!

Me and the wife have a late hearty, well cooked breakfast here whenever we travel up north. This means we can avoid eating at motorway services and it lasts us for the rest of the day. Nice peaceful location, no queues or crowds, suits us fine.

Food was good and cooked fresh. The chef came out and checked on a couple of items we ordered as she felt it may not be what we expected it to be which was good. Her thinking that was actually correct so instead of waisting food she cooked what we wanted. Brilliant service. Shame they were closing for a refurb so some things had sold out. Hope when they reopen they will still be as good

Decent ish place. They can be a little slow to replace the popular and expensive buffet items. Buffet price is reasonable. The beer (the pints) are a bit dear.
