We found the Coffee Beans Cafe at the last minute on trip advisor following a mornings shopping in the rain and we were so glad we did. We received a warm welcome and our food order was soon taken. We ordered a pot of tea for 2 along with a chicken, bacon and cheese panini with a side of fries and a chicken, bacon and sweet chilli panini. The food arrived very quickly and was delicious and the brew was great and really warmed us through. Great value for money, just wished we had arrived earlier as the breakfast deal looked great. Thank you

I was looking for somewhere for breakfast in the centre of town and popped in before heading out on the train. The place is down some quite steep steps and isn’t as fancy as some of the cafes, etc in Jesmond and surrounding areas but the staff were friendly and the breakfast and refillable coffee was excellent value. £7.50 for a full english and coffees - I really couldn’t complain. I’d definitely go back as there’s plenty on the menu for people to enjoy.

Called in with my wife on the way to a Hospital appointment. Ordered 2 Flat whites and a piece of cake. Cake was delicious but the coffee was as weak as dishwater. We didn't want to cause a scene so just left it on the table, and went to pay the bill. My wife mentioned to the waitress that we couldn't drink the coffee as it was too weak, she wasn't at all interested and happily charged us £9.70. No apology, no interest in our complaint so I wouldn't expect this business to last long. Avoid like the plague!

This café is located in the basement of a period building and approached down some steep external steps. The coffee was okay, but certainly not barista standard. We had two lattes which cost £3.25 each. It might be more enjoyable in the summer when there is some good outside space at the top of the steps.

Quiet bijou basement café with ground floor alfresco covered dining area should the indoor be full. Not too expensive considering the varied food offering and the location. Ordered a bacon & sausage sandwich whilst my partner ordered a fruits scone with cream along with a cappuccino and pot of tea. Took about 20 minutes for my sandwich to come out which was very disappointing, only one very small sausage cut in half. The brown sauce I asked for came out after I had eaten the sandwich as did our drinks. People who came after us were being served their food whilst my Mrs still waited for her scone. Cappuccino was basically hot milk, very weak. Would honestly have been ordering a Greggs breakfast meal.

We often call in here for a quick lunch or coffee and cake, but if we can make it before 11.30 we always have a mini breakfast, bacon, sausage, fried egg, tomato, beans and mushrooms with toast and a cuppa all for £3.50 (which is the price of a coffee in some places !!!) and all without compromising the excellent quality of produce. This little cafe is tucked away in a sheltered part of Eldon Sq. perfect place in the sun to enjoy a beer and watch the too and fro of people. But odd that you have to go into a pockey little kitchen down a flight of stone steps to order and pay up front - very odd. But on the + side it's really good value actually. This hidden gem downstairs in Old Eldon Square is great value for money. The food is varied, tasty and good sized portions. There are snacks ( toasties, sandwiches, jacket potatoes) or meals ( scampi, corned beef pies, curry and rice) just to name a few. The desserts are scrummy and the cakes are to. The staff are lovely and so accommodating. I have been coming here a long time now and love the place for a fast and efficient value for money lunch in Newcastle. One of the best places in Newcastle to sit outside (when the weather permits) with a nice cup of coffee, or a glass of wine. Adjacent but slightly detached from the street if sitting outside, it is a great place to just sit in and relax as the world moves around you. One of my favourite places.

Delicious food, pleasant and efficient waitresses. Cafe is downstairs in basement of building and space is a bit cramped as chairs are rather big (however, once you are seated they are very comfortable). Decided to try here for a catchup lunch with friends and although it was really busy it was a good choice. Great pot of tea and coffee was refilled. Two baked potato's with fillings were enjoyed and the lentil soup was homemade and delicious. If there is a down side it is only that there is very little space and because we were seated near the front our chairs had to be moved on a few occasions to allow people to push past. Also there was an almighty draft coming in each time the door was opened, so if possible sit near the back to avoid this. Despite this the food was delicious and the service spot on so we will be back. It is obviously a very popular place and deservedly so with the good old fashioned hospitality.

I have been in this coffee shop for which I was very impressed. However, I was in last Saturday and ordered for three people. To start with we ordered drinks, soup and sandwiches. When the drinks were been served, hot chocolate was spilt over my daughter for which the staff were very apologetic. So we overlooked that. When the rest of the food was served, I ordered a club sandwich. When it arrived, I noticed a large long hair nestled in between the toasted club sandwich and the salad. I therefore returned the sandwich, for which I got another apology. I was informed that it would be replaced in about 5 to 10 minutes. After about a minute had gone by and another waitress served me my sandwich. I had noticed before I had returned the last sandwich that on the plate was a bit of burnt toast and to my discust I noticed the same burnt toast on the 2nd plate. I asked the waitress, was this the same sandwich and she said no. I am convince that it was as it wouldnt have taken a minute to rustle up another club toasted sandwich with the salad trimmings. I returned the 2nd sandwich and decided I didnt want to have anything else there. When we got the bill, I couldnt believe that they and made no reductions what so ever as a gesture of good will. I paid the bill as I didnt want to make any more fuss. I will never be going back to the place. I was very disappointed with the service given and the dreadfull hairy food.
