The food is ok. The panini was good. The oatcakes with scrambled egg and bacon were delicious. However the sausages in a roll were literally just whole sausages bunged in an unbuttered roll for a princely sum. The tables are small so you’ve got very little room to eat as everything is on a tray. Toilets are mixed so be aware if you let children go alone. Not a bad cafe but not as good as I was told it was.

Came as a group of 8 with two dogs for coffees and cake, decided to sit out side as we didn’t want to trail our dirty shoes inside and was greeted by a lovely young lady who was extremely polite and friendly, unlike her older colleague who was very rude and snappy with us, told us off for sitting outside and eating at the tables available as we hadn’t paid the ‘eating in’ prices despite the fact we weren’t asked if we were eating in or out, and the fact we had mentioned we were sitting outside. She also told the kind younger girl off several times in front of us. The two stars are purely for the young lady, who was lovely. The older woman definitely needs more training in customer service as the attitude we received from her was unbelievable considering the amount of money we have spent here as a group.

We visited this area after staying nearby in a cottage for the weekend - we stopped by the local town for a walk with our dogs and stopped for a coffee. Such a lovely girl behind the counter followed by an older miserable lady to which kept tellingher off for making us drinks we decided to sit outside with. She confronted my family for a fault which was not of our own, we were not made aware we weren’t able to sit outside with takeaway cups even tho we had still spent money with the cafe- sounds like an issue of the cafes not ours if we aren’t made aware. We just put £40 + behind the counter and we’re treated like total scum by an old battle axe - will not be returning due to her lack of customer service skills and total attitude.

The baguette used to make my egg mayonnaise sandwich looked as if it had never seen the inside of an oven. It also arrived with bacon in it, good job I'm not a vegetarian! Luckily my breakfast served as a warning to the guests on the table opposite and was able to warn them not to eat here. Has browns had a browner colour than David Dickinson!! Really please avoid this place for your own health. £9.25 for a plate of rubbish.

Visited on Saturday May 27th 2023. Sat outside as the weather was beautiful, ordered cheese on toast x 2( so 4 slices in total) a traditional pasty, a tea an oasis drink and a fruit shoot. The total was just over £25.00!!!!!! I cannot get over how expensive this was, there was no garnish, nothing, in fact the cheese on toast had been forgotten about, and we had to wait ages for it to be done. There are much nicer and cheaper cafes further up the road….. I feel totally ripped off, can someone respond if I was charged incorrectly please.

Haven’t been in here for a few years definitely not the reasonably upmarket cafe it used to be. Young untrained staff, bacon cheese and oatcakes has a big gob of mild cheddar and half cooked bacon with white fat, most unpleasant. If they used better tastier cheese they would need less. Won’t be going here again in a rush.

The food is expensive for the quality provided. I ordered a Coronation Chicken sandwich. What I actually got was a submarine roll with a smearing of Coronation Mayonnaise and dry, plain sliced chicken on it. Not what I would call Coronation Chicken! My mum had a cheese and tomato toastie, which was nice with plenty of filling. The “coleslaw” on the side was mainly chunks of red onion. A bit of a mixed experience overall.

Very disappointing! Me and my mum visited today.. ordered two jacket potatoes and a pot of tea! There was hardly any filling in the ‘microwaved’ baked potatoes and the salad was so small (with no dressing). The tea arrived in a stained stainless steel teapot that had seen better days… and we were charged £21.60 for the privilege! Sorry.. we will not be returning.. there are far better places in Leek to spend your money!!

We chose this café to have breakfast having driven from Stoke today. My husband chose a cappuccino coffee and was told the machine was not working and only tea or filtered coffee was available. We ordered breakfast and a pot of tea. Whilst we were there, one customer took her coffee back as it was cold. Our pot of tea was tasteless. My husbands breakfast sausage was what he describes as cheap, and his bacon and toast was burnt. The meal consisted of a small piece of tomato, scrambled egg that was so dense he had to slice it to eat it. No butter came with his toast. When I asked foe some I was handed a small pot with a block of hard butter. The attitude of the staff was uncaring, unprofessional and not at all bothered about the customers. For a full English breakfast it was poor. I got the opinion that any complaint would have fallen on deaf ears.

i came in on the 10th of december and i ordered two sausage rolls and a cup of tea my order was taken by a young man although he seemed more interested in getting me sat down rather than talking too him. however the service from the young girl with brown hair was lovely and brought the food over in no time at all, absolute pleasure being served by her as we had a chat about all the different cakes they had on the day, she managed to talk me into trying their banana bread which i have to say was lovely. the food was spot on and the tea was brewed by a clear professional, i meant to leave the young girl a tip but forgot and when i went in a few days after she wasn’t working so if you could inform me on her name i would be very grateful.

The oatcakes were average. The cakes were excellent. But we had to clear our own table onto an adjacent one. There were a further two tables stacked with dirty dishes, and while we had our lunch two more couples arrived and also did their own clearing. Luckily the lad doing a partial job of keeping the cafe nice had left the disinfectant bottle twenty minutes earlier, so at least we all had the materials we needed! The pic shows the only remaining free table in the cafe when we had all finished. Before we left another couple actually sat at it, waiting for it to be cleared. Disgusting! There were lots of young staff members on duty but nobody was supervising them. Management need to take control!

Definitely not going again as it was not as described. Jacket Potato with butter and Freshly prepared salad ..... I don’t think so . I was told to find a table ( which they were all full of dirty dishes ) one lady waiting on. When she cleaned it I asked if Jackets were oven done and crispy, she said yes .... well mine came , soft like it had been microwaved and a spoonful of beans covered by grated cheese. I didn’t want to complain as there were people close by and I was on my dinner break so would not have time to wait for a replacement if I was offered one . Very disappointed as I call in for a takeaway pie usually and they are lovely , but 9.85 for spud and cuppa tea is a joke , especially when I am trying to support local businesses through this terrible time . Sorry Coffee Beans you’ve lost my custom.

Worst latte ever tasted like a mix of coffee and tea and average cake. My carrot cake had raisins in the bottom. Might want to clean the baking tins now and again. My cappucino was cold so too it back and got another one slightly warmer. Oh and forgot to say we had to request spoons and sugar for the drinks and cutlery for the cakes. No idea how this place is even a going concern, I can't think how the food and coffee could have been worse. Cooked breakfast was a plate of slop with limp toast and sausages that bend suspiciously under your fork, begging not to be eaten. Which they weren't. Miserable eggs that reminded me of school dinners on a bad day. The coffee was awful, the worst I've ever had. It must take effort to be this bad, mere inattention or lack of care would produce better standards. Most of our food and drink was left by everyone in our group, and you know that feeling of regret that you even ate what you did as you walk away. I'd rather have walked off even after paying up front and just accepted the loss. I feel bad for the owners if they read this, you need to find a different calling in life, running a cafe is not for you. Please give up before losses mount, everyone is good at something, you just have to find it.

This must be contender for the worst cafe in the world. We came here for breakfast and were the only people in the place (should have been a sign) and they still managed to forget our order. We thought all was well as they had managed to bring us a plate of butter, which I assume would have been for the bread had it ever made its way into a toaster. Instead of serving us, they proceeded to squawk into their iPads over FaceTime for 20 minutes, the WiFi connection evidently as useless as their own hospitality skills. After 45 minutes we somewhat optimistically checked on our food only to be told they hadn’t been sure why we were still sitting there! That made 3 of us. Please just close down for the sake of anyone that might think getting a couple of pieces of toast in under and hour is a simple task.

Call me old fashioned but when in any hospitality business you have to know at the very least the basics of customer service. The woman on the till (face piecing under right eye I think) was quite the rudest person I’ve ever faced when ordering food. She had to put the order through twice, blamed the till and then when our order came it was wrong anyway! She had an angry attitude as if she wanted to punch you just for being there! Please don’t bother going here, Leek is beautiful and there are lots of friendlier places to go. Stairs going up to the toilets are filthy and I noticed the most disgusting mop - absolutely black with filth. We popped in for coffee on a recent Sunday morning as it one of the few cafe's open in town. A cafetiere of coffee for two and a glass of orange came to about £6.40. Unfortunately the coffee was weak and insipid and the orange juice, whilst a large glass full, tasted like it came from a carton of basic supermarket own brand. My main concern though was the state of the cups. Most of the glaze around the rim of my cup had seen better days and it looked stained. I had to ask for a replacement and it took three attempts before a half decent cup appeared. I know make a living running a café these days can be hard but if the owners invested in some new crockery and bought some better quality ingredients this could be a really nice place .

We wanted a nice breakfast in Leek, picked this place because the one we wanted to go to didn't open until later in the morning, we should have waited, ordered two Full English and one oatcakes, bacon & scrambled egg. First the scrambled egg with the oatcakes was clearly microwaved and devoid of all flavour, how difficult is it to make proper scrambled eggs! The sausages with the full english must have been the cheapest available, the bacon was overcooked, not crisp just hard! No offer of any sauce to go with any of the breakfasts and none available on the table, to be honest couldn't be bothered to ask as wanted to leave as quickly as we could. Staff not interested in customer service, just plonked everything on the table. We have visited this cafe many times before and the service and food has always been to a high standard. We visited a few weeks ago and it was very disappointing, the lady behind the counter was having a domestic with her partner over the counter for the world to hear, not something you want to see whilst having a quiet lunch. The food was of average standard, As it is now one of the few remaining cafes on the high street we decided to try it again today. We arrived at 12.05 (on a lunch hour), and there was only 1 more table in so we figured the wait would not be too long. After waiting 40 minutes for a Jacket potato, beef sandwich, baguette and sausage roll we were disappointed with the quality of food to say the least and had to eat it in a rush And all for the hefty price of £27 with 3 drinks! . The potato was cold, the bacon on the baguette over microwaved and the sausage roll was over cooked! We decided after such a poor lunch to take some cakes back to the office...terrible. The cornflake cake was bitter, The shortbread inedible and the cornflake caramel cake soft, as if it had been sat for a week. Again the same lady who was having a domestic a few weeks earlier was on the shop phone to her partner again, whilst a shop full of people waited to be served! We have since heard rumors the cafe has been taken over by different people, if not i would suggest the current owner looks for some different staff before she has no business left.

Called at the cafe as we were in Leek having a wander around on a nice sunny day. Found the cafe to be very clean and well presented and were greeted by helpful and friendly staff. Ordered a couple of sandwiches and a pasty, and unfortunately the cheese and onion pasty wasn't very nice, quite over cooked, so we asked for it to be changed and this was handled very quickly and with minimum fuss, it was swapped for a Cornish pasty which was much better. It always impresses me when problems are handled quickly and with minimum fuss by people who obviously care about the service they are providing. Lovely cakes followed our lunch.I would really recommend this cafe if your ever in Leek and hungry.

Ordered an English breakfast, the toast didn't come with butter, therefore i asked for some at the counter, she then proceeded to take some butter from someone else's finished Meal, from a pile of trays behind the counter and justified it with ' it's okay it was fresh today'. It's clearly not fresh, it's unused... it's been on someone else's meal where they could have coughed, sneezed etc over it. After finishing the waitress then asked my partner if everything was okay, but clearly had an issue with me because I questioned the butter. Questionable standards, won't be going again. Unprofessional, ignorant attitude

Called in for pie peas and gravy. My friend had the stew. Food very tasty albeit small portions. The blonde waitress was very friendly a ray of sunshine on a very dreary day in Leek. Not sure of they have had a new wooden floor but I found it quite slippy .

My hubby and I often pop in here whenever we are in Leek. Today we both had cottage pie and chips with bowls of baked beans and mushy peas as extras. Please note that both the extras are enough for two people. Coffee and tea to finish. Lovely delicious food and the staff were very pleasant.

Visited Saturday 26 November and had bacon and cheese baguette and drinks. Baguette was really poor with loads of thick melted cheese which had cooled and dry bacon. We weren't offered any sauce. Latte was very weak and there was more in the saucer and running down the outside of the cup than in the cup. Place is bit grim inside, looks a bit dirty. Staff friendly though but won't be visiting again as not good value for money. Baguettes overpriced coffee overpriced.

Popped in around 2.30pm for cream tea and afternoon tea. Staff friendly and food was pleasant. We were visiting from out of town. A thorough and good deep clean is required. Floor was covered in waste food from earlier. All the ledges covered in grit and dust, chairs stained food and drink splashes and spills the light fittings full flies. I would not visit again if I lived locally.Shame because the food OK but made me wonder about state of cleanliness in kitchens.

Called here for lunch today with my son. We both had hot chocolate which were cups of luck warm milk with no taste of chocolate at all!! My son had a tea cake which was burnt all round the edges! I ordered a tuna and cheese toasted sandwich, which was basically cheese on toast with cold tuna mayo slapped on the top with a bit of brown lettuce!! Don't waste your money the kitchen also love ok filthy when I went upstairs to the toilet

Popped in for a quick cup of coffee, but should have gone elsewhere. There were no prominent price lists anywhere, and the cakes in the display cabinet were unlabelled. Staff didn't seem particularly happy, and our order was interrupted by another member of staff trying to tell our server something unrelated to work. We were the only couple placing an order at that time, and there was only one other occupied table in the café. Our table was missing napkins, and we were only given enough milk for my tea. The atmosphere wasn't particularly friendly, so we left quicker than we would otherwise. The absolute worst feature of our visit were the 5 or 6 flies buzzing around the kitchen area, despite it being relatively cold today. We won't be returning in a hurry.

I have enjoyed many visits to this cafe with my family. The coffee, hot chocolate and all of their cakes are just divine! Their prices are great too, £8 for 2 cakes and 2 large cup and saucers of hot chocolate. We felt totally full after that, we always pop in here before heading around the shops. The staff are very hard working and helpful, in fact they are the same in their Buxton branch also. A great place for wonderful cakes and a cosy atmosphere.

Visited this cafe with boyfriend today, when we went in the lady said find a table and choose your food then go to the till to order and pay. I did this but not once did any staff come over to clean the table from the previous customers. I asked them twice to come and clean it as it was disgusting. A lot of customers were complaining of service and quality of food in there, but it was too late to change our mind as you have to pay when you order. My boyfriend ordered a vegetarian breakfast and it came with 2 dry pieces of toast. He had to ask them for butter which taken 5 minutes to bring it out and it was rock solid due to it being in the fridge. The toast was then cold so had to ask for some more. I ordered a panini which was ok but not fantastic. Service was terrible and really slow. It cost £16.10 for 1 vegetarian breakfast, 1 tuna panini and 2 lattes, expensive for crap food and a poor service. Will definately not be visiting them again.

Whilst staying in Leek we had breakfast twice in this café. The food is a good quality and reasonably priced. The menu is quite extensive for both breakfast and lunch. The traditional breakfast in particular is good for the price. We also bought cakes which were of a generous size. This café is a good option if staying at The Premier Inn as it's nearby. We prefer to support local small businesses, rather than eat in hotels.

Popped in here for a couple of light lunches as very convenient to our hotel. Food is adequate and acceptable to keep you topped up until dinner. Choice of bread, fillings etc for sandwiches, which include crisps and coleslaw. They also serve hot snacks such as pies, pasty's and sausage rolls with chips and beans etc. Seemed to be fairly busy but seating is slightly cramped and not great for wheelchairs, prams and pushchairs. Staff are jolly and pleasant, they also have a uncanny ability to scream your order up the stairs to the first floor kitchen..........quite entertaining - well done girls!

Went for breakfast, coffee machine broken so ended up with a cup of Tea Ordered 2 breakfasts and nice but helpings are getting smaller every time we go. Cake slices have gone very stingy and not much filling. But the carry on charging the same if not more. Did a bit of store shopping but prices high so shopping limited. Disappointed that this store have no charging facilities for electric cars etc. I cannot believe that we are in the year 2024 where Sainsbury's is advertising renewable energy and doing it's bit contributing towards saving the planet. But WHY has it not got EV Charging point a massive store with no facility to charge your cars.i fing This not only unbelievable but disgusting that a super sized store that been built a few years ago and would have had plenty of time to install chargers. I think I'll be shopping at Morrisons in leek at least they have chargers
